'Haaa... It's been four months since we met that Goddess.' A certain individual thought in a daze as she boredly looked towards the window. The girl was not paying attention to the teacher's lecture as she was too preoccupied with her thoughts to bother, having already known the lecture at her old school before. 'And nothing much has happened yet. With the exception of a few hiccups. Notably with the characters here and... Hime-sama being a Judgement.'
'But today is different.' The girl thought in dread. Even with the day being perfect, as the sun was shining, children were having fun together, all that became meaningless when a Certain System Scan is currently happening today.
It's the day were you get to check your esper powers. Hooray~
And the day were the story starts to get chaotic... Less Hooray..
Well... It's definitely a day of misfortune. A certain Touma would say.
'I wonder how Hime-sama is doing today... I hope she's not being bullied there... Well... In all seriousness, I should be the one who needs to be worried at being bullied.' Ruri, who became a Special Misaka Clone, thought glumly as she drew her paper bag, that was covering her whole head, down absentmindedly.
As a clone of the famous Railgun, the trio's first approach upon arriving in the Index universe was to disguise her identity.
So far, during the months of their stay, Ruri would always forget to put her wig on or it would have turned into a tangled mess when Fischl (Emilia insists) or her were using their powers.
And because of her repeated carelessness, Emilia simply purchased a box full of paper bags and placed them on her face when she transferred here, and it... To say the least, was humiliating. For God's sake, she was even questioned by the principal!
But because Ruri was a 'Level 4,' she wasn't questioned much, and when the Principal found out, he became all polite and let her keep the paper bag on her head, in favor for not transferring to that Ojou-sama school, where Fischl was currently enrolled as a first year.
And she was enrolled here. Where the flower head and skirt flipper were currently her juniors, and her being their senpai. So she would have less contact with her... sudden Mikoto-nee.
Though the downside of it all was Staten-san, she could be incredibly annoying when she wants to be.
Even though she was known to be the skirt flipper of Uiharu-san, her title seems to consistently change to paper-bag-flinger whenever Ruri is around.
And the clone was not amuse. Even though she couldn't fling away her bag, as Saten-san was always foiled when Ruri uses her powers, the first year never did give up.
So when classes were over, Ruri started walking out as quickly as possible. Paying no mind to her classmates chatter as the clone exited the classroom with a blank face under her bag.
Secretly, the clone prayed to Zügellosigkeit, prayed that she won't be caught. She really hope that her and Hime-sama may be spared at being dragged from the plot.
Only to be stop as a gloved hand took a hold of her shoulder.
Smart, but annoying...
"Senpai~" The menace chirped happily, who was somehow besides Ruri as Uiharu-san was running towards their direction with a flush face.
"Saten-san! Please, why do even do this everyday!?"
"Oh come on, Uiharu, you know why~" Saten-san just gave the paper bag girl a mischievous look. "Though, Senpai... Your commitment in hiding your face only makes me more curious you know?"
"'uhmm.' Mi-Satsuki just hummed in disinterest."
"And that! You know, the way you talk just now!" The girl pointed at Ruri's face with a happy look. "The cutesy way of talking in the third person but talks in all monotone, are you secretly a special kuudere, Senpai?"
Uiharu-san who was looking apologetically in her senpai's way tried to get Saten-san's attention but it was no use. The tall girl moved her hand slowly towards the paper bag as Ruri was preparing herself but was left dumbfounded when Saten-san moves her hand away from the clone and change her target towards the unsuspecting Uiharu.
Successfully flipping her skirt, yet again in public.
"GAAAHAHHH-!" Earning an embarrassed scream from the flower girl as she stared at Saten-san with a teary-eyed look "Why!?" demanded the Judgement officer.
"Well.. I can't let Senpai miss your polkadot panties, now can I?" Was her only response as Uiharu-san screamed yet again in frustration.
"Saten-san you meanie!!"
Ruri only sighed at their antics. And wondered why can't Uiharu just get pants under that skirt??
"Haaaaa..." Uiharu-san let out a sigh as she sat down at one the bench from the street, exhausted.
Somehow, out of Ruri's understanding, Saten-san managed to dragged her with them as they continued to talk on the way.
Ruri did everything in her power to run away though, but Saten-san wasn't having any of it.
Saying things like "Do you even have friends, Senpai?" "Since you're always free, why not hang out with your Kouhais?"
It was degrading to hear from a literal child that it made Ruri accompany them in a daze.
"Your so awful... And doing that infront of Satsuki-senpai.." The flower girl pouted as Saten-san looks apologetic.
"Gomen, gomen, I got a little carried a way there." She relented as she scratches her head. "Though I guess it was because of Senpai."
"'Me? What did I do exactly?' Satsuki asked with a raise of eyebrow at the sudden accusation." Ruri pointed at herself when she finishes.
"Muuu... Are you even raising your eyesbrows in there? I guess... It has something to do with your face... I mean why are you hiding it?" Saten-san asked as Uiharu-san looks at her friend with a panic look.
"Saten-san! You can't ask something like that! What if it was personal!"
"Oh.. come on Uiharu don't tell me you aren't curious yourself?"
"W-well... I do.. but..!" She confesses easily enough but she did so with a blush. "Respecting Satsuki-senpai's privacy is the right thing to do..!"
"I guess.." Saten-san relented but still shot her senpai a probing look. "Well since we're gonna change the subject then I'll ask how did the test it go?"
""Test?"" Both Ruri and Uiharu-san asked in confusion.
"You know... Your System Scan."
"'Ahh.. that, still a level 4. Though Mi- Satsuki does not think it's worth mentioning much. All Satsuki can do much is heal and essentially be a battery.' Misa- Satsuki replies nonchalantly." As she did so, Ruri waves her hands at herself indifferently. Secretly though, she was happy with herself that she could hide some of her words. If she blabs all of her thoughts and actions, it may be use against her and that's not what she wants.
So with enough effort, Ruri finally figured out how to limit her description of herself, but she still having trouble at referring herself with her original name.
"But it's still amazing right, Saten-san?" Uiharu-san said with a smile though her smile did became a little confused.
"Though if you're a level 4 then why didn't you enroll for Tokiwadai Academy, Satsuki-senpai?"
"Yeah.. now that you mentioned it, why did you enroll at our ordinary school?" Saten-san asked aswell.
'Well... Fuck... I can't just say I couldn't enroll because my donor is a student there right now. Additionally, the plot would literally shit storm out of control if Railgun ever learned about her clones much earlier.' Was Ruri's crude thought, if her two Kouhais would hear her like that, they may think the world suddenly inverted on them. To them, Ruri was always formal and indifferent, they never really did hear their Senpai cursing like a sailor whenever she's with her charge and co-worker.
Or how goofy she really is.
"'I just feel like it,' Satsuki says with a noncommittal shrug, then raises an eyebrow at Uiharu-san." And she did so as she turned her face towards her. They can't tell because their senpai's face is hidden in the paper bag.
"Oh, you mean it's my turn, Satsuki-senpai?"
Ruri nodded, growing tired of being questioned.
"Oh yeah...? Then what's your level, Uiharu?" Saten-san inquired. But she still looks suspiciously at her senpai's strange way of avoiding the question.
The flower girl simply scratches her head, embarrassed by their question.
"I'm still a disater level 1, like senpai my number haven't changed since grade school." she pouted. "Sensei even chastised me, saying things like, 'Are those flowers just for show? Use your blooming powers to make your own power rating thrive, too!'"
"'Senseis are just strict nowadays, so don't take it personally,' Satsuki says as she comforts Uiharu-san while Mi-Satsuki sits next to her, patting her flower-covered head."
"Yeah, cheer up, okay?" Saten-san smiled as she sat across from her friend. "Level 1 is good in comparison to me, still a level Zero- the most incompetent of our bunch," she joked, gesticulating dramatically. But Uiharu doesn't seem so sure, as she's looking down and not meeting their gazes... Or in her senpai's case, not meeting the eye holes in her paper bag.
"Hmm... It's okay you know?"
"Huh..?" Uiharu-san uttered while she looks up at her friend when she saw Saten-san smile ahead. "As long as I have fun every day, everything will be fine," her friend said, beaming at her.
Seeing her being so carefree, Uiharu-san let out a small smile.
"Saten-san..."
Ruri, who was siting there watching everything unfold, couldn't help but feel touched by the scene. Even though she had been on edge all day, she couldn't stay away from her favorite hobbies when Ruri saw the literal anime characters interacting like that.
'Aaahhh!! I truly ship them!! ' Ruri gushedly thought with a dopey smile; of course, she couldn't really smile like that, so she imagined her own expression in her head. 'Gaahh! Why are there so many couples in this anime? You could get a lot of ships here... As with Touma and Index or Mikoto... Mikoto and Misaki, for example... Or... Kuroko, Mikoto, and many others...! '
"Senpai?" Ruri's hysterical thoughts were abruptly quelled when she noticed both of them looking at her with concerned expressions.
"Huh..?"
"You suddenly spaced out on us, and we were talking about Uiharu's Judgement friend."
"Umm! I'm meeting Shirai-san today!" Then Uiharu-eyes san's suddenly sparkles. "My fondest wish was to be introduced to Misaka-san and the mysterious [Prinzessin]! Has finally come! The two of only eight level 5 in all Academy City!" she exclaimed, her sparkles still intact.
Saten-san was perplexed by her expression, and Ruri secretly choked on the mention title.
"The Ace of Tokiwadai, Misaka Mikoto-san and Tokiwadai's outstanding Judgement officer of the Night, Fischl Siegel-san!"
'Ahhhh youth.' Ruri thought with a smirk as she noticed Saten-san pouting, making her feel like her teaser of a Kouhai was j-e-a-l-o-u-s but her expression quickly fades when she hears Uiharu-san mention Hime-sama...
'Was she also coming?' Ruri thought, frowning.
Saten-san whispered in a hushed tone, "Tokiwadai's level 5's. I bet they're both show-offs... Flaunting their powers while looking down on all of us." she remarked casually as Ruri fought the urge to scold Saten-san right then and there.
Her Hime-sama was not a braggart! Well... She's dramatic, but it's unique! The child was excellent and intelligent! And if she was a show-off then she, Ruri, would've shapen her up by now! And Walter would have detained their Hime-sama if she had been flaunting her powers like that in the City of merciless scientists!
"I-I don't think that's the case.."
And it seems Uiharu was on her side!
"'Yes.. I agree. Is it there a quote that says, don't judge a book by its cover?' Mi-Satsuki said while fidgeting in place." Desperately wanting to just clarify Saten-san misconception, but was left unsaid.
"Oh, come on. I mean, those types of people treat people like us as beneath them, and even you Senpai, as a level 4 but with that thing on your head... You might just be easy picking for them."
Saten-san then made a face after she finished her rant. "They disgust me." And continued with a self-deprecating smirk. "Especially with their titles, the Lady of Tokiwadai and the Outstanding Judgement-"
"But isn't a Lady and a Top Judgement nice!" exclaimed Uiharu, abruptly cutting off Saten's words as Ruri secretly sighed in relief. "No, it's much nicer because they're a Lady and a Top Judgement!"
"'You must idolize them a lot, Uiharu-san,' Satsuki observed with a smile. 'They must be your aspiration?' Satsuki wondered as she folded her arms together in thought."
"Umm!" Her sparkles returned, and she smiled joyfully at her Senpai. Saten-san gave a tired sigh when she saw this. "Hey, your just stary-eyed seeing your idols, aren't you?"
"N-no... That's not true... And I didn't come to Nishi-Kasai just for that...!" exclaimed the flower girl.
"'But... That bit with the Nishi-Kasai, isn't apart of Saten-san's question.' Satsuki deliberately said with a smirked. 'So in Satsuki's conclusion that statement is rather the opposite of what you meant.'
'Goddess! Uiharu-san is just easy to tease!' Was Ruri's current thoughts.
"Hah! You got Uiharu good Senpai." Laughing, Saten-san elbowed her flushed friend goodnaturedly.
"T-thats besides the point! I mean... How about you guys join me?" Coughing, Uiharu-san changes the subject, all the while her cheeks were still blushing red.
"I...uh... I don't know," Saten-san replied hesitantly. Unsure about the offer, after all, she had just dissed the people she was offered to meet, so she was understandably hesitant.
"'Hmm... Satsuki is also unsure.. Satsuki thought that this would be an ideal opportunity to meet with your idols alone.' M-Satsuki presented her thoughts, not wanting to bother Uiharu when her junior was looking forward to such a meeting."
Having heard enough, Uiharu-san stood up from her sit and took a hold of her friend and Senpai's arm.
"It's okay, it's okay and I don't mind at all~"
"Okay... Hey.. but..." Struggling, Saten-san stuttered.
"Uhmm..." said their senpai, unsure. But then Uiharu began to run, causing the two remaining in her grasp to follow suit... But came rather reluctantly.
"You know... You don't get this chance very often... so why not make the most of it and take the chance?" Uiharu-san joked. As Saten-san repeated her words with a flustered tone, all the while getting dragged away.
"Hey.. wait a minute... Oi... Uiharu..!"
'...Not often.. huh?' Ruri thought to herself with a weary smile, letting herself be dragged along. 'Well... If I had said that one of the number 5 you idolize is currently my charge/roommate... I wonder what your reaction would be..'
'Though... Zügellosigkeit, her terms.. are not particularly hard... But also not easy either.. I hope we're not going to be late in praying... I don't want to get punished by a literal Goddess..'
