"Thanks because of you Raj just broke up with me." Mariana snapped at the girl.

"How is it my fault?" Callie hissed back.

Everyone got quiet, watching the two bicker again like they had during their improv skit.

"Because you told him about Evan!" She screamed back.

"Excuse me?!" Callie stood up. "Take your own blame telling everyone I failed the bar!"

"Well you did! And you quit so I had to take up the rent!"

"You said you would! It's not my damn fault that I couldn't work there anymore. Nothing was changing!" Callie stepped closer. "I couldn't do it anymore. I'm not perfect!"

"Oh did you hear that? She said she's not the queen of perfection!" Mariana stage whispered to everyone.

"You should know that about me!" Callie bulked. "I was fresh out of juvie when I met "drug dealer Mariana.""

Everyone gasped.

"Juvie?" Davia gasped. Everyone else listened intently. "How are you a lawyer?"

"Oh right. Because being in juvie a couple of times makes you so much better." Mariana snapped.

"You're right. It didn't!" Callie yelled. "But it shows I'm not perfect." She looked at her sister. "You didn't grow up in the system Mariana, you got adopted by our moms' early. You didn't have to deal with being raped, beaten, or taken from your brother!" She shook her head and turned back to Jamie.

Everyone was shocked by the turn of events. Surprised that Callie had come through all of that. She didn't seem to show just how much she had to fight.

"Yeah well what good that did after you had sex with Brandon."

Everyone's mouth dropped open.

"Wait." Jamie said. "Does my sister know that her husband slept with his sister?" Everyone was surprised further.

"Yeah." Callie said.

"Well when was this?" He asked, confused.

"She found out a bit before the wedding?" Callie said, sitting down. "It happened after I went to a group home." She shrugged. "I had a meltdown and broke it off with him so that I could be adopted. I needed parents more than a boyfriend." She shook her head.

"Why did you go to juvie?" Malika asked. "You had promised to tell me."

"Wait, you knew?" Davia asked. Malika nodded.

"The first time, before the Adams Fosters got me, was because Jude was trying on dresses." She smiled. "And our foster father found him and beat him." She smiled sadly. "I couldn't get him to stop so I took a baseball bat to his car."

"And they arrested you." Jamie finished. "What happened to Jude?"

"He had to stay there." Mariana cuddled up to Callie who wrapped her arms around her. They had clearly made up. "Next thing I know, this girl who looked like she got into a fight is eating at our table."

"I was in Juvie for about nine months." She shook her head. "Nine months I couldn't protect Jude." Everyone smiled.

"What put you into the system?" Alice asked.

"My father was driving drunk and killed our mother." She commented. "He was sent to prison for murder on the second degree."

"We thought you were privileged." Davia shook her head. "Boy was I wrong."

"Judging a book by its cover." Callie commented.

"I remember a time when she would throw her life away just to save someone." Mariana smiled.

"Like Jude." Callie said.

"And myself." Mariana smiled.

"What does that mean?" Dennis asked.

"Brandon and her went to get Jude the second night of her being brought into our home." She laughed. "I remember them tracking the phone and wondering what the hell where they doing way the fuck out where they were and mom and mama leaving to get them."

"They got there at the best time." She shook her head. "Our foster father pulled a gun on me and told me I couldn't see Jude. Then mom came in and demanded he drop the gun, her own gun pulled." She laughed. "Well I guess a cop telling you to do something instead of firing helps sometimes."

"Your mother is a cop?" Everyone yelled.

"Retired detective." They both said.

"She worked with child trafficking after she got promoted from being a beat cop." Mariana explained. "She didn't like seeing all those babies ending up in that type of life and tried helping them as much as she could."

"Wow. A family of activists." One of Malika's friends commented. "Did you fight for everyone's lives?"

"Hell yeah." Callie said. "I fought for all and any life. I even fought for those in the LGBT community too."

"Fought for everyone but yourself." Mariana commented.

"Hey." Callie said. "I had a family per se." Mariana shook her head.

"She protected me from my suicidal and homicidal ex boyfriend when he brought a gun to school to kill me and himself." Everyone was surprised. "She damn near got herself shot for that."

"He was pointing a gun at my sister, who the hell do you think I am?" Mariana chuckled.

"Dear God." Davia commented. "She just got so much cooler." Everyone agreed.

"How about the time she protected this teen from going to a pimp with a new girl by stepping in and almost getting raped by the pimp?" Mariana asked everyone. "She literally stepped in and took over to protect both girls." She laughed. "Mom was pissed."

"Good lord!" Alice commented.

"All this happened before she graduated highschool." Mariana commented. Everyone stared at the girl.

"Yeah I fought for what I believed in." She smiled. "I want to help those who don't have the means to do it by themselves." She looked at the pool water. "It's why I quit the clerkship. He wasn't willing to give an inch for change."
