Chapter 2: Anya takes care of Yor in whatever ways she can think of. She takes her mission as a doctor pretty seriously!
Anya proceeded with her self-made mission. She had to take care of her sick mother the best she could until her father came back. But she wasn't quite sure where to start. She thought back to what her parents did for her when she was sick that one time before. Then she came up with some ideas, but first things first. Yor had to lay down, as she was still sitting up on the edge of the bed, looking dazed.
Anya walked over and pulled the covers off Yor's bed to give her room to get into it.
"Okay Mama, get into bed!"
"R-Right..."Yor turned to face Anya behind her and nodded.
The tired assassin slowly walked off the edge of her bed walking towards where Anya had left the bed opening for her. She slowly got into her bed laying her head on her pillow sighing heavily. Anya then gets on the bed and properly tucks her in causing Yor to smile at her. The small girl then goes and grabs the pillow on the other side of the bed since it was a fairly large bed that had two pillows on it. She tells Yor to sit up a bit. She does so and Anya places the pillow behind her mother and on top of the first pillow and does her best to fluff up both of them. Now she has extra coziness.
"All comfy?" Anya asked, eyes sparkling.
"Very… Thank you." Yor responded sighing as she leaned her back on both pillows.
"Now Mama, you hafta stay in bed all day if you want to get better!" Anya announced as she stood at her mother's feet. "Doctor's orders!" she copied her father crossing her arms.
Yor giggles slightly at this and plays along. "All day, huh…?" she's interrupted as she coughs twice. "…Well, all right. If you say so, doctor."
"Yes, I do say so!" Anya responded proudly. It felt pretty good to take her parents place as the healthy one telling the sick parent what to do now. And it felt all the more real with the medical mask on her face.
Bond then walked into the room. Anya smiled as she jumps down from the bed to talk to him.
"Perfect timing! Nurse Bond, stay here and make sure mama stays in bed!" Anya instructs her now "assistant" as he answer with a small bark. "Good! Be right back!" she leaves the room.
Yor smiles at Anya as Bond walks over to her and puts his face to her side. She smiles gently at him and pets him softly as he whines staring at her, clearly worried.
"Don't worry, I'll be okay… You're a good nurse, Bond. Looking at you helps me feel better…" she says smiling continuing to pet him and he wags his tail at Yor's praise.
Meanwhile, Anya was in the bathroom looking for something. She walked on her stepstool. She opened the bathroom cupboard searching for a certain something. "There it is!" she grabbed it. The gray medical bag that was on the lower shelf luckily. She remembered her father would always take it out whenever she got hurt and cleaned her injuries and patched them up. And it was also present on her sick days as well. She figured she could use something in there to help Yor.
Then she went to grab the small flashlight in the living room on the table they used on their last outing. The family had gone camping for the first time. Anya remembered how much fun it was and hoped they'd go on another outing soon. When her mother was all better of course.
Once she got what she needed she walked back into her mother's room.
"I'm back Mama!" she announced as she walked toward the bed holding the bag.
"Welcome back, Anya." Yor said tiredly with a smile. "Hm? What do you have there?"
Anya put the medical bag on the bed along with the light and climbed up on the bed.
"Stuff to help me help you feel better!" Anya said smiling as she dug in the bag looking for something.
"Is that so?" Yor responded curiously. "Well then doctor, I await your diagnosis." She played along with Anya's game of pretend.
Anya looked around for a certain thing in the bag, but then she found it. She pulled out a small wooden tongue dispenser and grabbed the flashlight. She remembered when these were both used on her by an actual doctor to check her throat for a normal appointment, and it was her mom's turn to be checked now.
She shuffled closer to Yor taking both her tools.
"Okay Mama, open your mouth and say "ahhhh"
Yor complied.
"Ahhhh..."
Anya turned the light on shining it inside her mother's throat examining it carefully placing the dispenser on her tongue as she did so.
"Hmm... Yep. Mama your throat is all red." Anya said.
Ohhh No... Anya, please step back!
"AHHH-CHOO!"
Yor's upper body jerked forward after sneezing harshly. She had felt it coming while she was being examined.
Anya thankfully backed away as she read her mother's mind as she rolled backward on the bed. She dodged her mother's sudden onslaught just in time.
"Sorry Anya..." she says as she leaned back on her pillow rubbing her nose with her hand.
Anya composed herself and got back into her place.
"Uh-huh, just as I thought. You have a very bad cold Mama." Anya said in her most professional-sounding tone.
"I see…" Yor responded her nose still running, she tried sniffling it back up.
Anya grabbed the small pack of tissues from the medical bag and hands it to her mother.
"Here you go Mama, let it all out." Anya said, once again imitating her father's line from earlier.
"Thank you…" Yor said taking one and blowing her nose again. "Colds are no fun…"
Anya giggled slightly at her mother's voice. It was so congested now, and it sounded different to Anya. Even amusing to her.
"Hahaha! Mama, you sound so funny!" Anya said laughing as she fell over on the bed in laughter.
Yor blushed embarrassed for a while but soon she smiled a bit playfully.
"Hey! Doctors shouldn't tease their patients!" she responded still congested.
"Sorry Mama but you just sound so weird! It sounds so silly!"
Her mother pouted a little before retaliating.
"You did before too! You were sick before and sounded all…"
Yor's sentence was cut off once again by a small coughing fit.
"Oh no, Mama!" Anya responded in a panic. She read her mother's inner thoughts again.
My throat burns... I need water…
Anya nodded to herself as her mother continued coughing.
She jumped off the bed and rushed to the kitchen and went to the fridge with a cup to the water dispenser. Her father taught her how to use it so she could get herself water if she ever wanted it. She was glad she knew how to use it as her mom needed it.
After she got the cup, she rushed back to her mother's room. Yor was laying back panting slightly. Exhausted from her coughing fit.
"A-Anya…" she breathed out weakly turning her head slowly as as Anya came in.
"Mama here! Drink this!" Anya said handing the water to Yor.
Yor took the water and gulped it down. She took a few seconds to catch her breath then sighed.
"Ahhh…that's much better… Thank you Anya, that was just what I needed…" Yor smiled at her daughter gently.
"Are you okay Mama?" Anya asked still concerned.
"Yes… That really helped…thank you…" Yor responded.
"Okay good… I'm sorry I laughed at you Mama…" Anya said as she felt at fault for Yor's coughing fit.
Yor put her hand to Anya's head. "It's okay Anya… Sometimes laughter is the best medicine when you're sick…" she smiled at her. "Its always better if you're having fun…"
Anya smiled knowing her mother wasn't mad at her. She noticed Yor was panting a little bit. It may have been more aftermath symptoms of the coughing, but it was most likely her fever. Anya knew her next move.
"Okay, I'm gonna take your temp-pah-chur now." Anya said going back to the bag to find the glass thermometer they owned.
"Okay… Ooooh…" Yor moaned and laid back placing her hand to her head. The headache from her fever was making her a bit dizzy.
Anya found the thermometer and shuffled over to her mother. "Okay Mama put it this your mouth."
Yor opened her mouth taking the thermometer into it. They waited for a while.
Anya took it out after about 10 seconds.
"What does it say, Doctor Anya?" Yor asked still a bit loopy but continues playing along.
Anya had no idea what it said. She wasn't able to read it clearly at all since it was glass and the numbers were too small, but she still played along in her own head.
"Hmmm…. Uhhh… It says… That you hafta stay in bed until you get better!" Anya responded.
"Y-Yes, of course..." Yor nodded humoring her daughter, but her headache and fever were getting to be a bit much for her. She tried to see if Anya could figure out what to do now by hinting at her a bit.
"Mmm… I'm feeling a little hot, Doctor Anya…" Yor said tiredly. "I think I need something cold to help…"
Anya went over to feel her mother's forehead. "Uh-oh, it's very hot! Hmm." Anya thought for a moment then looked to read her mother's mind and it gave her exactly the materials she needed to get. "Uhh… Oh! Now I know what to do!"
Anya once again left the room in a hurry. Bond walked over to Yor whining at her in concern for her well-being.
Yor smiled petting Bond as she watched Anya dash off. "…I'm glad she's having fun…" she said to herself panting a bit with each time she spoke to herself (or to Bond if he was listening) "Being sick…. With a family caring for you… is actually really nice… I never thought I'd ever…have this life…" her eyes were giving out a little.
Anya got a large bowl of water with ice in it and a few washcloths from the bathroom. She remembered when she was sick and feverish, her father would take the washcloth, put it in the water bowl, wring it out, and place it on her forehead, and it felt good. That was probably what Yor needed right now if she felt hot.
Anya quickly walked in the room carrying the things. "I'm back Mama!"
Yor didn't answer and laid-back lightly panting with her eyes closed. She looked like she was in minor pain.
"Uh-oh! Hold on Mama, I'm coming! Don't die!" Anya said dramatically as she placed the bowl down. She placed the washcloth into the ice water and then gave it a tight squeeze for all the water to come out. It hurt Anya's hands a little bit to touch water this cold but she was willing to if it meant it would help Yor.
She got onto the bed, crawled over to her mother's side, and placed the cold cloth on her forehead.
Yor softly panted for a few more seconds, but then sighed in relief taking in the coolness of the cloth.
"Thank you…Anya…" she responded quietly opening her eyes to look her daughter's way.
Anya smiled reaching up and petting Yor's head. "There, there. You'll feel better soon Mama…" she said quietly. Yor nodded smiling as her eyes closed as she sighed to rest her eyes for a bit.
Anya climbed back down on the floor, grabbed another washcloth in the bowl and soaked it again. Then climbed back on her mom's bed and started wiping the sweat off Yor's face with the cloth in her hand. She remembered this was also done to her when she was feverish, and all the sweat wasn't pleasant, and the cool water felt good. Her mother was able to cool her down and wipe away her sweat. Now Anya had to help Yor cool off.
"Mmmm…" Yor moaned quietly as her face was gently wiped down.
"Does that feel good, Mama?" Anya asked.
"Mmhm…very nice…." Yor mumbled groggily eyes still blinking in and out. "…Nice and cold…"
Anya continued to wipe away Yor's sweat from her face to her neck and then her arms. She placed the extra cloth back into the water bowl and wiped some sweat from her own forehead. She was starting to get tired now, as was Yor.
"Phew! Being a doctor is really hard work…" Anya said. "I wanna go watch some TV and eat peanuts now…"
Yor yawned opening her eyes again. "Go on then…You deserve it… You did such a good job Anya…you worked very hard… I think I'm starting…to feel a little better. Now all I need is some peace and quiet to rest…so you can go have fun with Bond now…" she was honestly glad Anya wanted a break. She was dying for a nap.
Anya turned and read Yor's mind. She could see and hear that she was feeling very sleepy so she didn't argue.
"Wait Mama. One more thing." Anya said before she left again.
Yor kept her eyes open for a bit longer, but she felt so tired she'd black out any minute.
Anya came in holding her Chimera plush. She placed it beside Yor covering him up.
"Director...wait, no. Doctor Chimera said he wants to take my place to watch over you while you sleep. He says you can hold him. That way, you don't have any bad dreams." Anya explained.
Yor smiled almost tearing up at this putting her hand on the doll. "Aww that's very sweet of him… I'm sure he'll chase all my bad dreams away..."
Anya placed her hand to her Chimera doll's head and moved it slightly. Then she started talking in her voiceover of him.
"Agent Mama, you have an important mission. To get better soon so you can continue working hard to be the coolest, stwongest, and bestest mama ever. Agent Papa and Agent Anya need you. You are a Forger. Part of the family. And also an important part of our organization! So pwease rest now! And I will pwotect you from any bad guys that try to get you in your dweams!"
Yor couldn't hold back her tears any longer. This was so sweet, so touching so warm and fuzzy. Even if Anya spoke in the voice of her toy, she could tell this was how her daughter truly felt about her.
"Oh Anya…" Yor said with teary eyes. She quickly grabbed another tissue to blow her nose again to not get any of her nasal discharge on the plush by her.
Anya smiled and climbed back on the bed one more time to give Yor a hug. She clung to her stomach and nuzzled her chest.
"I love you lots and lots, Mama! Get better soon, okay?"
Yor gladly returned the hug, thankfully too weak to be too strong or rough to accidentally hurt her.
"I love you too Anya… I will… Thank you for taking care of me…"
Anya got off the bed and called Bond to follow her.
Yor laid fully, closed her eyes, and turned to her side, she pulled the covers closer to her. The small damp cloth still on her forehead and plush beside her.
"C'mon Bond, Mama needs to sleep now!" Bond listened as he got up and walked out the door. Anya turned the lights off and grabbed the doorknob. She slowly closed it. But not before saying.
"Goodnight Mama…"
Yor was already fast asleep. And with that, the door shut.
Chapter End: Anya would 100% play pretend doctor with her parents and you cannot tell me otherwise.
