Stiles took me back to his house to give me some comfort before letting me sleep in his bed as he stayed up studying. I appreciated him so much. I never even asked him how he felt about all of this.

The next morning, I hear my phone ringing, looking at Scott's face pop up on my phone. I answered it, groggily. "What's wrong, Scott?"

"Is this Sam?", I hear a man's voice.

I frowned. It sounded familiar but…

"Who's this?"

"Dr. Deaton. Scott's here with me.", I hear him say. "What's wrong with him?", I asked, getting up.

"It'd be best if you came to see him yourself." The line went dead and I looked back at my phone in shock before shaking Stiles awake.

I informed him of what happened and we quickly left for the animal clinic.

The place was much quieter than when we came here to help Derek.

"Scott?", I called. What was Deaton, if he wasn't a werewolf?

"Sam.", I hear, making both me and Stiles jump. Deaton walked out in a white lab coat.

"Where's Scott?", I asked.

"Before you get the wrong picture here, let me explain to you, I'm not the bad guy. Follow me, please?" He walked away and led us into a room where we see Scott lying unconscious on a table.

A large pad of gauze was taped over his abdomen; stained with a patch of blood in the middle.

"What happened to him?"

"I'm not quite sure. I found him in the middle of the woods with a bullet in him."

"He must have gone to Derek's…", I frowned.

"He wasn't too far from the Hale house if that's what you're implying."

"You helped him?", Stiles asked, turning to Deaton, shocked.

"Yes. He should be perfectly fine in a couple hours."

"But how? You're an animal doctor."

"Some would classify wolves as animals too.", Deaton smiled.

"How do you know? I thought only hunters knew."

"You mean the Argents. No. If you live in Beacon Hills long enough, you'd be surprised at what you could find out."

I sighed and glanced at Scott, sadly.

"You two haven't known for long.", Deaton assumed.

"Only a month." I looked at him.

"And did Derek Hale tell you?"

"No. Scott did, accidently. He told us and we thought it was a joke until we got it confirmed by Derek. He helped us a lot."

"Derek? Helped you? Are we talking about the same Derek that tied me up and knocked me out?", he asked, incredulously.

"Sorry about that," I grimaced, "but yeah, its the same Derek."

"You sound sad?"

"I… it's hard to explain." I say.

"I understand.", Deaton comforted, "Knowing about all this, it's hard."

"It's not knowing about it that's so frustrating, it's being involved.", Stiles spoke up.

"Scott and Derek, they involved you two in all this? That's not okay. That's—"

"No, not them. Derek was warning me to stay away and I was being stupid and persistent and kept coming back begging him to help Scott. I dragged myself into this.", I say, sadly.

"How?"

"You know how every pack has an Alpha, their leader? Well, the Beacon Hills pack has one, and right now, it doesn't have the best interest for its betas. It attacked us the night of the school incident and it likes to toy with people's lives. I'm next to be turned but it's anticipating this.", I informed.

"To make it all worse, he took Derek away from us, basically brainwashed him into telling me the truth of how he felt about me, and he's trying to "protect me" but he's not doing a good job."

"Do you know who this Alpha is?", Deaton asked. Stiles looked at me.

"No.", I lied, and glanced at Scott as he woke up. It took about twenty more minutes for Scott to wake up. We were already late for school, but I wasn't worried. Stiles had texted Melissa to let her know I was okay. Scott groaned and sat up, looking at me and Stiles in confusion.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, you okay?" Deaton rushed over to Scott, who had jumped off the table and stumbled over but steadied him.

"Yeah, yeah I'll be fine.", he assured him. "Dude, you just woke up. Sit down.", Stiles said. Before Deaton could agree, bells chimed and echoed through the office. It came from the front.

We all looked at each other. The hospital was closed this morning. Who came in?

"Hello?" Deaton called, but there was no answer. As he took a step forward, Scott grabbed his wrist, silently shaking his head. If Scott was on edge, it definitely wasn't good.

Even as Deaton nodded his head in reassurance that he'd be okay, Scott pulled me and Stiles back behind him and we crouched down.

"I'm sorry but we're…closed.", Deaton's voice says.

"Hi there. I'm here to pick up."

"I don't remember you dropping off.", Deaton countered.

"This one wandered in on it's own. You have something of mine. Two something's, actually.", Peter's sinister voice sounded.

Scott and I looked at each other in horror. He put a finger to his lips, shaking his head as he rubbed my back. He was trying to calm me down. My heart was speeding up. I forgot they can hear loud heartbeats. Me and Stiles took a few deep breaths to calm down and it kinda relaxed Scott.

Deaton's short sentences were slowly irritating Peter. I'm pretty sure he realized that he was the Alpha.

We could hear Peter's footsteps come closer.

"I think you could make an exception this one time. Don't you?"

"That's not going to be possible. Maybe you could come back during regular hours."

"You have some things of mine. I'm here to collect them." Peter's voice had turned dark.

"Like I said, we're closed." It was quiet until we heard Peter whisper.

"Mountain ash. That's an old one." Then we heard a loud crash. My eyes grew wide but I managed to keep my heartbeat controlled, minus the jump it made a second ago.

"Let me be as clear as possible. We. Are. Closed.", Deaton declared. Peter walked away after that, but we looked at Scott for confirmation but he had his head tilted as if he was listening to something.

His eyes widened as we heard the jingles, confirming that Peter had left. "Allison." He whispered.

"What did he say?", Stiles asked.

"He says he has his ways of getting what he wants and by the end of the week he swears that either me or him are going to recruit Sam. And if not, Allison too."

"So, he's put a clock on it.", I whispered in realization. Deaton walked back in and looked at us on the floor.

"So you don't know who the Alpha is, hmm?", he glared at me, and I looked down in shame.

Once Scott, Stiles and I left the clinic and went to school, we went to confront Jackson after 4th period.

I tried my best to avoid Allison and Lydia all day to avoid working on that stupid committee.

I rushed in the locker room to find Scott and Stiles.

"You'd only get enough of us, Wilson?", A boy with only a white towel wrapped around his waist shouted. It was way after fourth period and I was running out of patience.

I had found Jackson standing at his locker with Scott and Stiles pestering him by his side.

"What the hell, Sam. You didn't get enough?", Jackson sneered.

I stormed up to him. "Did you forget I saved your life?", I harshly whispered. He rolled his eyes.

"What do you want?"

"I want you to shut up and listen."

"Y'know what, screw you. And screw you too," he pointed at Scott, "you know what, all three of you screw each other." As Jackson pulled on his tight shirt, I slammed his gym locker door shut.

"Listen Jackson, you have to do this. Do it for Allison.", I pointed.

"Why can't you watch her?"

"This is exactly why I told you to listen the other night. I can't!"

"Sam's in danger too. We need to watch her while you keep an eye on Allison."

"It's the least you could do. I literally saved your ass last night from getting bitten by Derek."

"What!?", Scott and Stiles asked, shocked.

"I'll explain later but for now," I looked at Jackson. "Come on Jackson. She's a pretty girl that doesn't have a date for the dance. Do you know how many guys would be jealous of you if you went with her? Including Scott?"

Scott scowled at me, though I was right.

"What if I get hurt?", he asked, crossing his arms.

"Then it's worth it.", Scott said.

"Not to me."

"You won't," I say, "He wouldn't attack in front of lots of people like that. Peter's after me and Scott, not you."

Jackson's eyes narrowed. "I don't trust you." He swung his backpack over his shoulder and slammed his locker door shut, shoulder checking me.

"I shouldn't say I told you so…because it's not strong enough. How about I'm always right and you should never ever disagree for the sake of your wolfly hood." Stiles lips formed a tight line as he nodded his head.

"I'm not done." Scott walked away. Stiles and I looked at each other. All we heard was Jackson yell then be thrown back against something.

"He didn't.", I say.

"He did."

Jackson asked Allison to the dance five minutes later. Allison found me and and informed me of the invitation after school at this stupid meeting.

I gave a loud sigh as I looked around the gym.

"Come on, give it a chance. I know you don't like Lydia, but how about we go dress shopping together? You know, to bond?"

"One, I never said I didn't like Lydia and two I'm not even going to this dance."

"Uh, yes you are.", I hear Stiles walk up from behind me.

"Uh, no I'm not."

"Actually, yes you are. All committee members must go to the dance they helped set up.", Lydia corrected, smiling.

I changed my mind. I officially hate her.

"I'm done.", I say, ready to walk out.

"So meet us at the mall in twenty minutes?", Allison asked as she left. Her and Lydia walked out as Stiles and I agreed.

"You still have to go. I'm going, Scott's sneaking in, and we have to watch you.", Stiles says.

"Peter's not going to bust into my house and turn me there."

"Don't underestimate him.", Stiles said, flatly.

"I'm not.", I say. "I'm just saying, he wouldn't be stupid to do that. Plus he doesn't know where I live."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "I'm pretty sure he had Derek tell him."

I sighed. Maybe he's right.

With Derek, who knows what the hell they're doing.

As Stiles took me to the mall, we looked around for perfumes and cologne. Stiles tapped my shoulder and I turned to him. "Scott's here.", he says, looking at a bottle.

It makes sense. He doesn't want us to be alone just in case. "I can't blame him for not coming in here. All of this smells cheap.", I whispered.

Allison and Lydia met us but Lydia had a sad look on her face. "Lydia, you okay?"

She looked at Stiles. "I have to talk to you." Stiles perked up, smiling, he nodded. "Sure."

I shook my head as he had already forgotten the mission. I turned to Allison. "What's up with her?"

"Oh, you didn't know? Lydia and Scott kissed last week."

My eyes widened. "What?" She nodded. Scott, really?

"And I gave you advice about him…", I say, dragging a hand down my face. "I'm sorry."

She chuckled and shook her head. "It's fine."

After Stiles and Lydia talked, she came back with Stiles following her like a lovesick puppy. I rolled my eyes.

We went to try on dresses and got Stiles a suit, thanks to Lydia and finally left.

The last two days were hell, having Scott and Stiles be my bodyguard. It set a bad picture on us and caused us to gain more attention.

In the mornings, Stiles would wake me up, calling me to make sure I had gotten up while Scott would patrol outside and search the perimeters of the house to make sure Peter wasn't nearby.

After Dr. Deaton learned about Peter's Plan, he surrounded my house with something to repel supernatural creatures. Scott tried getting through but stopped short, like there was an invisible barrier stopping him.

Deaton didn't tell us the name of this substance. Scott was heavily curious. He wanted to know what his weakness was. If it could stop him, it could stop Peter.

After school, I walked across the field to wait for Stiles and Scott. As I walked, I could hear another set of footsteps aside from mine. They sounded heavy. Before I could turn around, a big hand gripped my shoulder and the other pressed over my mouth.

My scream was muffled behind the hand and I fussed, struggling to get whoever it was over my shoulder. The hand that had a grip on my shoulder spun me around. I growled in frustration.

"Jackson!", I sighed. "What the hell was that for?!", I yelled. Jackson laughed. "What, did you think I was Derek?"

I frowned, glaring at him for bringing him up. "No, I thought you were the Alpha, you idiot. Aren't you supposed to be on the field with the rest of the team?"

"So are you. McCall and Stilinski are acting weird, weirder than usual. What the hell's going on? You know something."

"Get back to the game, Jackson.", I say, rolling my eyes and started to walk away. Before I could move, Jackson grabbed my wrist, gripping it in a vice. "Let me go.", I demanded.

"Not until you tell me what's going on."

"They're trying to protect me, okay? The Alpha showed up two days ago and threatened to kill me. Like I said, he doesn't want you.", I say, yanking my hand out of his grip.

"He's still doing that?"

"Yes! And he's not going to stop until I'm like Scott, do you not get that? Or is it still hard to understand? Do I need to dumb it down for you?"

Jackson rolled his eyes but finally understood.

"The plan's still on for tomorrow, right?"

"Watch over Allison the entire time, do not let her out of your sight."

"Is the Alpha going after her too?"

"He'll go after anyone that tries to stop his plan.", I say. "Which is why you have to keep her inside. Don't go outside until it's time to go."

I headed to the field and sat in the bleachers, much to coach's disappointment.

I spotted the Argent family which weirded me out that all of them were there instead of just Allison. Kate noticed me and gave me a wide grin.

Stiles, who was on the bench, had spotted me first and immediately smiled at me.

I smiled at him and sat by myself but close enough to Stiles.

I looked to the scoreboard to see the game had ended; the Beacon Hills Cyclones had won.

"And Scott won the game, again." Stiles seemed frustrated.

"Of course." Stiles sighed, pouting. "Should we go?", I asked as people started to leave.

"In a few minutes. Scott went to the locker room and I've got to get my stuff."

"So go get it.", I say, shrugging. Stiles gave me a look. "Like I'm really leaving you alone."

I rolled my eyes. "Stiles, Peter's not going to show up with the hunters here and other people still around."

Stiles pulled me anyway and sat me outside the locker room.

I just wanted to go home and sleep. I almost did, but falling asleep unwatched in the empty hallways didn't set me comfortably.

I sighed and went in to see what was taking them so long. "Not to scare you guys or anything, but we have a problem. Not like we didn't know that before." I found them by Scott's locker.

They looked at each other and then to their sides where there was a gap, like they were expecting someone else to be standing there. My brows furrowed as I looked from Scott to Stiles in confusion.

"What's going on? What's taking so long?"

"Nothing.", They simultaneously replied.

"I hate when you two do that. We need to get out of here."

"Why, what happened?", Scott hurriedly asked.

"I'm tired and the Argents are here. I don't exactly feel safe."

"You think they're here for him?", Stiles asked, pointing at Scott. I shook my head. "Not Scott, but Derek."

"Kate Argent knows Derek, seems like she knows him personally.", I say.

"If he was smart he'd stay away from her, but I'm sure he already knows that.", Scott says.

The next few hours, I only slept for a couple before getting up and ready for homecoming.

Finally putting in an earring, I looked at myself in the mirror. I didn't hate the dress, but the way it looked on me. Why did I have to go again? Why couldn't I just scope with Scott?

My shape in the dress bothered me, but it was enough for now.

"Sam, Stiles is here!", I hear my mom call from downstairs. I sighed before leaving my room and stopped once I saw Stiles.

"You clean up nice.", I smiled. He gaped at me, looking me up and down. "You- you look- I mean, of course you look-"

I rolled my eyes, finally coming down all the way. "Shut up, Stillinski."

My mom rushed to get pictures of us before we could leave and finally escaped that hell.

We walked to his jeep and he opened the door. "Oh, yeah, someone dropped those off at the door."

I looked in the seat to see a bouquet of daisies. "The hell…?"

I picked up the bouquet before getting into the seat. I noticed a card nestled in the flowers and picked it up.

I recognized the scribbled handwriting.

Be careful tonight. Stay close to Stiles.

-DH

This fucker…

"Who're they from?", Stiles asked as he got in. "I frowned and showed him the note. His eyes widened.

"He-"

"He's been watching us. This entire time he's been watching us and hasn't done a single thing to stop this. I don't know what he's planning anymore.", I crumpled up the note.

"Well, at least he's being mindful. Annoying, but mindful."

"It's not enough, Sti."

He sighed and looked at me. "Are you ready?"

"Let's get it over with."

"Just remember the plan and everything will be fine."

"We hope."

"Don't be a downer! Everything's gonna be fine! We're gonna go to the dance, have an awesome time, and come home. Alive and human, but minus Scott in that aspect."

"Him and Peter are going to kill me.", I say.

Stiles frowned sadly. "Just believe in Scott."

He started the jeep and he took us to the school.

Once we walked in, we looked around. It wasn't too bad or too shabby.

"You guys made it!", we hear Allison's voice. I wanted to leave. Of course, she looked flawless. Her and Lydia. The golden girls of Beacon Hills High.

"Hey."

"Oh my God, you look so pretty. And your dress, I love it!"

"Yours too.", I say, and glanced at Jackson as he had a flask in his hand.

I gripped his arm and pulled him away. "Are you insane? You're at a dance with a pretty girl and the first thing you do is get drunk?"

"What, you want to spend the night sober?"

"No, I want to spend the night alive and human, thank you. If you fuck this up, I swear to god, Whittmore, I'll kill you myself."

"Jackson," Lydia's eyes brightened up, "you look handsome." She irritated me. Here she had Stiles, willing to do anything for her and she was still hung up on a prick like Jackson.

"Obviously," he replied with a smirk, "it's Hugo Boss."

"Whatever that means.", Lydia laughed falsely. She turned to me as I let Jackson go.

"Going stag tonight, Sam?" Lydia piped up, ignoring Stiles. "Is your boyfriend still on the run from the police?"

My eyes widened. She knew about Derek…? I didn't tell her…

Fucking Stiles….

I sighed. "No, he couldn't make it.", Stiles piped in. I glared at him.

"Aw, that's unfortunate, too bad. How lucky am I to have Stiles taking me then.", Lydia dragged on, trying to get Jackson's attention. I set my glare on her.

Jackson wasn't even paying attention.

"Yeah… real lucky.", I say, rolling my eyes.

Homecoming had officially begun. Allison had taken Jackson's arm and Lydia had taken Stiles.

Together, the two couples walked towards the gym. I stayed behind, watching them from afar.

I shot Scott a text, telling not to get caught.

My phone buzzed immediately with Scott's text. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ALONE TONIGHT.

That was the plan. I wasn't allowed to leave either boy's sight this evening. If Peter was here tonight, which he could be, he'd definitely make his move.

Scott was adamant on it. I let out a sigh and looked up, frowning at Scott stealthily moving around the moon. Scott's eyes kept flickering back over at Allison as he scoped.

As nice as the dance was, it made me vulnerable. This was the perfect opportunity for Peter to make his move. Despite there being hundreds of people here, it was dark, colorful lights were revolving around, the music was so loud you could barely hear anyone talk amongst each other, so Scott would be so thrown off by all the different heart beats and emotions.

Realizing this, I panicked. Scott could scope out all he wanted but he couldn't detect a thing with all of this happening. This was a trash plan.

I looked over to Stiles and he could tell how nervous I was.

"Calm down, it's okay.", he mouthed as he danced with Lydia. She was barely paying attention to him. I know it hurt Stiles to see Lydia was still trying to get with Jackson.

My phone buzzed again and I looked to see Scott's text.

I think I saw Peter, don't move from where you are. – Scott.

What the fuck-

What do you mean, you think? I texted back.

He wasn't sure? Of course, he wasn't sure. Too much shit was happening. I was sure Peter was somewhere in this room, ready to snatch me up and it made me sweat.

Stiles grew impatient with Lydia's ignorance.

"Want to dance?", Stiles asked the red head.

"Pass.", Lydia responded, boredly.

"You know what, let me try that again. Lydia, get off that cute little ass and dance with me, now.", he said with a smirk.

"Interesting tactic, but it's still a no." Stiles sighed in frustration. This girl was annoyingly stubborn. Stiles is a good guy. He's not Jackson. She's so stupid.

"Lydia, get up! I don't care if you made out with my best friend for some weird power thing, I don't know. Lydia, I've had a crush on you since third grade and I know that somewhere inside that cold, lifeless exterior there's an actual human soul. And I'm also pretty sure that I'm the only one who knows how smart you really are. And that once you're done being a knit-whit, you'll go off and write some mathematical theorem that'll win a Nobel Prize." I smiled proudly at Stiles for confessing his feelings, finally knowing what to say.

"It's called a Fields medal.", Lydia sheepishly smiled. She stood up and took Stiles' hand for a dance. As Stiles was pulled back by the red head, he looked at me and gave me a grin and thumbs up.

I smiled and gave him one back before looking at Jackson.

Jackson looked over to me as Allison was dancing with him, I gave him a look that reminded him to keep his promise.

Not much into the first hour, I heard Coach yell at Scott. "I see you McCall!"

Scott ran away from him, weaving himself in-between the dancers and eventually he made his way to Danny, who ended up slow dancing with him as a save.

I smiled in relief. Scott's plan had worked as Coach was speechless, seeing Scott dance with Danny. Stiles soon came walking back, alone this time.

"Where's Lydia?", I asked.

"She went off to find Jackson," he heavily sighed, "where's Derek?" He shoved his hands into his pocket.

I frowned in confusion. "What do you mean, where's Derek? He shouldn't be here."

Stiles' eyes widened. "Wait, you mean he never showed up?"

"What the fuck- What do you mean show up?", I pressed, grabbing at Stiles. "You better give me an answer, Stillinski."

"I knew he was watching you.", he responded quickly. He put his hands up to defend himself. "After the game yesterday, he showed up and kind of explained himself the best he could."

My eyes widened. "Stiles.", I growled.

"I swear to God I'm not lying. He threatened us in the locker room last night and left the second you walked in, we haven't heard from him since. He told us to keep you in sights at all times or he'll rip our throats out.", he rushed to answer.

I let Stiles go. "He…"

"He knows Peter's going to be here tonight. He's not siding with him, he only left to protect you because Peter made a deal with him but he broke it.", Stiles says.

I glared at him. "Stop lying."

"Sam, I'm not lying!", Stiles frowned. "Right before you came in, that's all he said."

"You really think Derek would do that? He even told me I was an inconvenience. Why the hell would I believe that he actually cares!?", I told him.

Stiles became frustrated. "I don't know. Just, think about it. I'm gonna go get Lydia.", he says and walks away from me.

Once he left, I sat down. I sat at a table and watched as Scott finally met up with Allison.

I was happy he finally got to dance with her like he wanted.

It made me happy, yet sad. They all got what they wanted…

Me, on the other hand… I never bothered with dances. No one would've asked me and it didn't bother me… not until now.

I looked around at the dancing couples and spotted a familiar figure.

Dressed in all black, his hands shoved in the pockets of his leather jacket. I can't believe he actually showed his face. Derek was staring directly at me.

I stood up and walked up to him, frowning.

"The nerve of you to show your face here.", I sneered.

He sighed. "Sam-"

"What the hell are you doing here?", I cut him off, bitterly.

"You already know."

"If you think you and Peter could do this here, right now, then please, by all means put me out of my misery."

"You know that's not what's going on."

"Do I, Derek?", I rolled my eyes, turning away.

"Look, Sam." Derek clamped a hand around my wrist and turned me back around. His eyes changed different colors due to the flashing lights, but they held a hint of shame.

I looked away, my own tearing up.

"Why, Derek? I don't understand. You tell me I'm an inconvenience but then you tell Stiles and Scott to protect me and then the flowers... You're so confusing. Why are you doing this to me?", I whimpered.

His shoulders dropped as he let go of my wrist.

"You of all people know the only reason I'm here right now is to defend you from Peter, not work with him."

"You just like lying to me so much, don't you?", I asked, shaking my head and dabbing tears out of my eyes.

"Sam—"

"Don't.", I snapped, shaking my head, "You can't leave me, and then leave with Peter then come back. You made your decision."

"Don't do this.", he says.

I glared at him. "I'll do what I please.", I say before walking away from him.

As I left the gym, I let out a shaky breath, swallowing a sob. I noticed headlights to the side of me and saw Allison and Scott. What was he doing out here with her? I figured he'd forget about the plan.

Allison happily walked over to the buses and disappeared inside one of them. Scott was looking up to the windows with a broad smile on his face. I frowned at him, ready to tell him off, but stopped as two large SUVs pulled up on either side of the buses. The red one turned the corner and I read the silver letters on the back. Despite the tint of the car, I could see the familiar face of Chris Argent. The headlights were shining on Scott and their engines were revving. He was trapped.

"Scott!", I screamed, realizing what they were going to do. I began running towards him. The two SUV's took off and charged towards Scott. Chris was going to kill him.

"No!", I yelled just as they made impact. Evading the collision, Scott jumped high into the air. The cars shook as Scott landed on both hoods. He looked up at Allison, his eyes glowing a golden yellow.

He had revealed his secret to her and confirmed it to Chris. Just as that happened, an ear-splitting howl pierced the muffled music. It was so powerful it made the ground under me shake. But now that meant Peter had gotten what he wanted.

"Scott...", I whimpered as he jumped on top of Chris' car, his golden eyes trailed to me. Scott emitted a loud growl and he took off towards me.

"Shit!", I ran, skipping out of my heels as I ran to the woods. If I had ran for Stiles, Scott could have killed everyone in there including him.

My panting was loud, and I'm pretty sure my heartbeat egged Scott on. I should have listened to Stiles. I should have sat in my seat the whole night while my two bodyguards danced with their dates.

I could've just sat on my phone until all the slow dances were over.

Scott had ordered me to stay in the gym, and I disobeyed him and now he's ready to kill.

I could hear his ragged animal-like grunts lagging behind me. He was so fast, I didn't dare look back or I'd slow down.

Seeing Scott like this scared me. I could hear more than one growl behind me. I can only imagine how much fun Peter was having as he and Scott chased me down.

Scott's growl rumbled in my skin as he tackled me. He snarled in my face, his fangs poking out to bite me.

Tears dropped out of my eyes. "Scott…", I whimpered, panting and panicking as he sniffed.

His hot breath brushed my neck. Before he got the chance to bite me, he was thrown off of me and tackled by someone. I quickly got up and started to run again, only to be stopped by Derek.

I screamed as I tried tugging myself away from him. "Get off of me!"

"Stop it! I'm not going to hurt you!", Derek growled. Before I could say a word to him, I heard a gunshot and I stopped as I felt a tingling pain in my lower back.

I felt faint, falling into Derek's arms. I heard him grunt in pain too before I blacked out.

Derek's eyes weakly blinked open. His vision was blurry aside from the light shining in his eyes. All he could see in the dark room was silhouettes.

From the looks of it, he could see the shape of a body tied to a chair.

Derek tried to recall what happened. As his vision cleared, the first thing he realized was that he was in his family's old cellar under the Hale house.

He glanced back over at the figure in the chair, recognizing it to be Sam.

He started panting softly through his nose, quickly getting irritated as he tried tugging at his restraints.

Her legs were partially covered by what rags the dress was left in and her arms patched with dirt. Her hair was a mess but stayed upright even with her head drooped.

From the way she looked, he felt a pressing rage and need to rip Kate and the rest of the Argent family apart.

He assumed the person that shot him and Sam down in the woods was Kate. He had smelled her around, but he was more worried about Scott chasing down Sam in the woods, thanks to his uncle.

"Sam.", Derek's dry voice spoke up.

"Sam, wake up!", he called. He could still hear a heartbeat. Slow and steady.

He didn't like it. If it slowed down anymore, he'd panic. This wasn't supposed to happen.

Derek became more frustrated the longer she hadn't woken up. He had to get them both out of here. He tugged on the chains that were wrapped around his wrists, but they wouldn't budge.

Wolfsbane laced cuffs.

Of course. He frowned at the realization and sighed to himself.

Dammit…

"Ah, look who's finally awake.", Kate's obnoxious voice caught his attention as the metal doors creaked open. As usual, Derek said nothing. He glared at her with hatred filled eyes.

"Aw, don't look so angry, Derek.", she gave him a pout. "This is only the beginning." She smirked as she walked back out. Derek made sure to hear them leaving the cellar completely before turning to the passed out girl.

"Damn it, Sam, wake up!", he yelled.

Due to his yelling, Sam's heart sped up in beats confirming that she was waking up.

Derek sighed in relief but stopped short. She was still pissed at him.

She was frustrated. She'd never believe a word he said now.

Sam gave a low groan. Her head lolled around and she finally squinted her eyes open.

She looked down at her dirty lap, catching sight of her bound legs. Her eyes widened as she sat up, looking at her hands as they were also bound.

She struggled, automatically pulling at the restraints before her eyes landed on a shirtless Derek.

There was a light shining on him, showing how sweaty he was. His arms pinned above his head clamped into large shackles, which were chained to some kind of rusty metal gate. Derek couldn't look at her. He couldn't see her panic.

No, he didn't want to see her panic. Hearing it was enough.

"Derek?", she called. She noticed some metal battery like machine that had wires connected to Derek.

"What's going on? Where are we?", she asked.

"We're in a cellar below my house.", he said, blankly.

"What? Why are we here?"

He didn't answer so she tried pulling herself out of the chair.

"Stop," he ordered, "if I can't get out of them, you sure as hell can't."

She paused her struggling, confused at his statement.

"Why the hell can't you get out?"

"They shot me with wolfsbane, I'm too weak."

"Someone shot us in the woods," she winced, feeling the stinging in her back. "why'd they take us here?"

"I don't know." He looked down to the floor, avoiding her eye contact.

"You're lying," she declared. "look at me and tell me the truth."

He looked over to her. His jaw clenched and a sad, sympathetic look crossed his face.

They snapped their attention to the door as it creaked.

"Don't say anything.", Derek warned, not looking at her.

The door opened and a figure came walking through. It gave away that she was a woman by her heeled boots clicking. As she came closer, Sam's eyes widened in shock. She could see Kate Argent smirking at her.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, Samantha. I thought you were going to miss all the fun.", she says, as she walks towards Derek.

"I thought I was going to have only poor little Derek to play with." She trailed a finger along Derek's jaw line but she took it away before Derek could bite off.

"Bad dog.", she playfully scolded, giving him taps on the cheek before turning to Sam who glowered at her.

"Oh, don't look at me like that. You knew this was gonna happen." Kate walked over to her and crouched down to Sam's height.

"Poor little girl, in love with the werewolf. Don't even try to deny it, we've been scoping you out. While that boy was looking for whoever, he wasn't paying attention to us. Sucks to be you.", Kate said.

Goddamn it, Scott.

Sam's eyes rolled in annoyance. "Save whatever speech you had written down and get it over with!"

"Stop it!", Derek yelled, tugging at his restraints. Kate looked pleased. "She's no body, huh?", she mocked as she walked back over to him.

"What do you know about werewolves?", she said, not looking at her.

"I know enough. They're not exactly pets.", Sam says, giving her a smile. Kate rolled eyes. "Your sarcasm won't get you anywhere, girl." She then smiled again. "I'm actually surprised you didn't try lying about it, though."

"Why bother? You already know."

"What gave it away, was it that my brother's a hunter? Or because you punched me in the face?"

"That, or maybe because I'm sitting cuffed to a chair!", Sam huffed.

"By the way, thanks for the easy job. Running through the woods with the wolves? Excellent job." Kate paused. "Speaking of wolves, I see you still haven't become one yet."

Sam's face gave away a shocked expression. "What? You really think I wouldn't have known you'd turn into one?", Kate laughed.

"I haven't even gotten bitten yet.", she says.

Her eyebrows raised. "Yet? Were you planning on letting him do it?", she asked, gesturing to Derek.

Sam rolled her eyes. "Hardly. I was too busy trying to live tonight."

Kate walked over to her, "So, who is the alpha? You must know since he wants you. Why would you want to protect his identity if he's trying to turn you into a monster? Wouldn't you much prefer him dead? Unless…you're trying to protect him for someone else." She glanced at Derek, then it was back at Sam.

"Why do you keep asking me questions like I'm just gonna run my mouth?"

"Don't you trust me, Sam?", Kate asked, innocently.

"You shot at me.", Sam flatly replied.

"Not even your pretty little boyfriend over here?", Kate jabbed a thumb in Derek's direction.

Sam looked away, frustrated. "He's not my boyfriend."

Kate playfully gasped. "Trouble in paradise? Already?"

Sam was quickly getting irritated. She couldn't be in a relationship with Derek. He couldn't trust her and she couldn't trust him.

Kate seemed satisfied with the tension between them and purred happily, "I'll let you two discuss. Buh-bye~!"

The metal door closed behind her and we were left in the silence. Derek didn't look at Sam and vice versa.

"She's going to kill us, isn't she?", Sam asked, reluctantly.

"I'll get us out of here before she does.", he responds, gruff.

He couldn't even move on his own with the wolfsbane. How was he so sure…?

"You left us.", Sam whispered.

"Seriously, Sam?", he asked in disbelief that she started up with that.

"We're gonna die anyway. Why can't I get some type of closure as to why you just left like that!?"

"I told you, we're not going to die!", he yelled back.

"Derek-!" She sighed. "We're not in any condition to move. Kate is probably out there with three hunters with AK-47's. What odds do we have of living?"

He didn't answer.

"You lied to me.", she says.

"What?", he asked, incredulously.

"You acted like you didn't care. You called me an inconvenience, pretended like you didn't care all for you to turn around and then care.", she pressed. "You're so fucking confusing and I don't know what to do or how to feel. Why did you lie?"

"What makes you think I was lying?"

"How could you not be lying? You were going back and forth, it was kinda hard to tell what the truth was and what wasn't.", she says, looking at him.

His head hung low. He sighed through his nose. "Like I said. You don't deserve this. I meant that. You don't deserve to have me ruining your life."

Sam frowned. "Who are you to decide that for me?"

He looked up at her. She looked back at him with an unreadable expression. He didn't know what she was feeling. Resentment? Sadness? Fury?

It was hard to tell.

Kate came back soon after. She looked at Derek and Sam in amusement, taking note of the silence.

"Let's try this again, Derek. Who is the Alpha?", she asked him. Derek looked at her, keeping quiet and firm.

"I see," she pursed her lips, "guess we're doing this the hard way."

She pulled down a lever to the machine and turned up a dial. I could see a bright sparkling light travel up the wires, to Derek.

He gritted his teeth before screaming in pain. She was electrocuting him and it made Sam seethe in anger.

She pulled down a lever and rolled the dial to off and Derek slumped, panting heavily.

"Come on Derek, he killed your sister. Now either you're not telling me because you want to kill him yourself, or for some reason you're protecting him."

Kate rummaged through his jacket and found his wallet. She took out a twenty and stuffed it inside her pocket.

Then she found his driver's license, making her smile. She walked over to Derek and put the license up to his face, grabbing his chin forcefully.

"Look at that sour face," she pouted, "Bet you used to have people come up to you and say, 'smile Derek, why don't you smile more'. Don't you just want to kick those people in the face?" She laughed and walked away from him.

"I can think of one.", he mumbled, glaring at her.

"Promise? Because if I thought you'd be that much fun, I'd let you go.", Kate smiled devilishly towards Derek and then turned to Sam with that same smile.

She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a pocket knife. She switched the blade out, waving it around with a grin.

"Samantha Wilson.", she mumbled. Sam watched the knife in her hand, ignoring her words.

Derek's breath increased as he watched Kate stalk over to the younger girl.

"Do you know what Argent means in French? Silver. And I'm sure you know silver is harmful to werewolves. Now here's a better question. Do you know what Wilson means in German?", she paused before giving an answer. "Son of will, or in shorter terms, desire."

Kate kneels down to Sam. "So what is it that you could want from Derek? Do you even know what it's like to be a werewolf?" Sam silently glared at the older woman.

"Me neither, never want to know. But I've killed a few in my day to know they shouldn't be alive."

"So, what, you gonna kill me? A human? That kinda goes against your "rules" as a hunter, yeah?", Sam asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh honey, of course not!", she exclaimed, preppy like. She walked behind Sam's chair where Sam couldn't see her anymore.

"Remember the night when the Alpha attacked you at school? Remember the pressure you felt? It's only gonna get worse from here on out unless you talk, sweetheart.", she said, and jabbed the tip of her pocket knife in Sam's upper arm.

Sam let out a short grunt of pain as Kate twisted the tip.

Her head dropped as she tried keeping her screams in.

"It's Jackson Whittemore.", Derek blurted out suddenly. Sam's eyes widened. What the hell…

Oh right.

He was trying to save her. Any attempt to keep Kate off of her.

Maybe he did care after all. Kate pulled out her knife and walked back over to face Sam.

"Is it really Jackson?", she asked.

"Yes.", Sam growled out. Kate pursed her lips before raising her hand and Sam suddenly screamed in pain as Kate stepped out of the way to show Derek that she had cut a slit into Sam's eyelid.

It was a light cut, but it broke enough skin to leave a scar. "Lying, hm? Sure, Jackson Whittemore might have been my first suspicion, but I ruled him out. He's too conceited to be part of a pack.", Kate frowned as Sam threw her head back in pain.

The older woman sighed, "Now you're gonna make me search for the answer." Kate began looking through Derek's leather jacket again.

"Let's see. Nothing, nothing, nothing. God, I hate this detective crap." She began looking through Derek's phone but tossed it to the side, dissatisfied.

"Are you going to torture me or are you going to talk me to death?", Derek growled out, staring at Kate with hatred.

"Oh sweetie, I don't want to torture you. I just want to catch up. Remember all the fun we had together?", Kate asked, making Sam's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. So they did know each other personally…

"Like the time you burnt my family alive?", he sneered between his teeth. Kate grinned.

"No, I was thinking more about the hot, crazy sex we had.", Kate responded, seductively. She gave him a wide grin. "but the fire thing, yeah, that was fun too!" Derek lunged at her with a growl and all she could do was laugh.

"I love how much you hate me," she whispered, "remember how this felt?" Kate bent down to his lower stomach and licked up to his chest.

Sam wished she had cut both of her eyes. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Derek lunged at her again, fangs bared. Sam looked at Derek as he looked at Kate with a snarl.

"Unfortunately, Derek, if neither of you are going to talk, I'm going to have to kill you.", Kate turned over to Sam and smiled as she looked back and forth between the two captives, pleased with Sam's expression.

"Oh, you didn't tell her about me, did you?" Sam looked at Derek who immediately calmed down enough to look at the floor.

"Did you tell anybody? Oh sweetie, that's just a lot of guilt to keep buried.", Kate cooed before turning to Sam. "Do you want me to explain it to you? Fill you in on the back story a little bit since Derek failed to? We used to date. Six years ago. And guess what else was six years ago."

"The fire.", Sam muttered in realization. Everything was coming together. It made sense as to why Kate was involved so much, not just because she was a hunter, she was the hunter. She was responsible for the deaths of the Hale family.

"Correct!", she clapped, happily. Sam's frustration and confusion turned into disgust.

"So, wait, you're older than both of us…. you dated a sixteen year old? What the hell is wrong with you!? What'd you do to him?", Sam yelled.

"Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to get information around here," she shrugged, "Seems Derek has a thing for history repeating itself."

Sam's hatred increased tenfold. "Come on Sammy, try to understand. Its not Derek's fault he got tricked by a pretty face. It happens!"

She turns to Derek. "Handsome, young werewolf mistakenly falls in love with a super hot girl who just so happens to come from a family of werewolf hunters. Isn't that ironic? And you, Sam, ignorantly helping tag down the rest of the pack just like Derek did six years ago? History is totally repeating itself."

She walked back over to the machine. "Don't!", Sam yelled, thrashing at her restraints.

Her eyes trailed over to Derek, whose eyes were glossed over. Almost as if he was holding back tears of his own.

Sam's heart dropped. She's never seen him like this. So vulnerable and small.

"It isn't Jackson. He's not in love with Allison. Not like Scott is.", Sam speaks up, catching Kate's sparkling eyes.

"You obviously weren't there when Scott turned… were you? You were too busy planning this shit show.", Sam growled.

"Wow. Scott McCall. The big bad beta we've been looking for. And this whole time, he's just been right under our noses. Who knew you three could be such great liars. And hiding it from Allison? While you were her friend and Scott was her boyfriend?", Kate laughed.

"Are you gonna keep rambling or are you gonna torture us?"

"Oh sweetie, I really don't want to torture you…", Kate said as the door creaked open, "but he does." A bald man with grey stubble walked through the door and into the light.

He looked bigger than Sam as she rolled her good eye. "Fuck."
