CHAPTER 1: ARRIVAL
It's easy to be frightened of the ocean. The massive expanse of nothing but water can make one feel isolated, and with no source of land nearby, the ever looming threat of running out of provisions and starving to death can be enough to drive most people mad.
For Moana, the ocean was a paradise for her. The calm quiet mixed with the thrill of navigating the great unknown brought a smile to her dark brown skin, her small but treasured boat rocking gently with the waves. She stood barefoot on her boat as she tugged the rope of her sail, turning it slightly to shift her direction a few degrees to the west.
With her left hand, she clutched on her grandmother's pendant, and it opened up to reveal a piece of loose parchment. Moana opened up the parchment, revealing a map drawn in ink. Studying it, she knew she was on the right track, and her theory was confirmed when she looked up towards the horizon.
A large landmass emerged in front of her, its mountains towering up high like jagged teeth. A blanket of green tropical trees covered the lower regions of the mountain, covering the rest of the island save for the white sandy beach shore. Moana steered her ship toward the island, a determined grin on her face. The ship slid to a halt onto the sand, allowing Moana to jump up from her boat to the shores of land. The part of the beach she landed on still had the water wash over it, giving the sand a cool and squishy feel. It was comforting to Moana after sitting/standing on a hot wooden boat for a few hours.
There was a piercing call in the air, which Moana recognized immediately was that of a hawk. She turned her head upward as she saw a yellow spotted Hawk circle her as it descended downward towards the island. When it was a few feet above the sand, there was suddenly a bright flash as the hawk suddenly transformed into a gigantic muscular man with thick curly black hair. He landed with a thud on the sand, his giant hook rested on his shoulder. After standing himself up, he turned to Moana with a smug grin.
"See this?" he said as he indicated the beach they were standing on, "This is the place! I told you I'd find it!" Moana raised an eyebrow in response.
"You found it?" Moana asked smugly, "I believe I was the one who actually figured out the map and led us here?" Maui gave a fake offended scoff.
"Well, I was the one who found the map in the first place!" he said with a chuckle, "I believe what you should be saying is 'Thank you.'"
"No, what you should be saying is 'YOU'RE WELCOME!'" Moana mock sang the last two words, which caused Maui to roll his eyes.
"Not going to let me live that one down huh?" Maui asked. All he got in response from Moana was a smug "Nope!"
Both Moana and Maui trekked through the thick jungle, brushing aside giant leaves, shrubs, and bright flowers. After roughly an hour of walking, they came across what Moana assumed was their destination. It was a large cave-like structure, but the mouth of the cave was long and high with stalactites hanging downward across the top. There were three additional openings, all relatively smaller, with one in the direct middle just above the large entrance, and two additional openings of the same sized positioned higher and a few feet apart from each other.
This patterning quickly reminded Moana of the image she was looking at, a skull. Charming.
Entering the cave meant leaving the lush warmth of the jungle as the air inside the cave was cold and damp. Before Moana entered, she grabbed a stick and using some resources in her bag, she managed to craft a torch with an old rag soaked in an oil.
"Hang on, I got this!" Maui said as he stepped forward carrying massive large rocks. Kneeling down, he smashed the two rocks together on top of the torch, causing them to crumble into pieces. The sparks from the collision fell on top of the torch, and the tip of the torch lit ablaze.
"Impressive," Moana said. It was true. That was impressive!
The two entered the cave, with Moana holding the torch and Maui transformed into a bat. The cave started out jagged and natural before elements of smooth, carved stone began to emerge. The walls then began to glow a bioluminescent material shining as the torche moved closer to them. They were patterned into artwork, showing illustrations of monsters, people fearing for their lives, and islands and villages on fire.
"Well, that's ominous," Moana said worried. Eventually, the two found themselves in the center of this large chamber that was sweltering hot. Moana saw that the floor of the chamber was gone, replaced with molten lava swirling several feet below. The only semblance of a floor for her to stand on were these narrow stone bridges that lead toward the center, where a stone podium sat. On the podium was a bright orange jewel…the Heart of Pele.
At this point, Maui had transformed back into his human form and stood next to Moana, eyeing the jewel with glee.
"And there it is!" Maui said. Moana didn't share the same excitement, and instead looked to Maui concerned.
"Let me see if I got this right," Moana began, "You find this map that leads to a cave that imprisons the Heart of Pele, aka 'The Goddess of Fire' who was a really bad lady…and your first instance is to come and steal it?"
Maui just looked at Moana with an offended look.
"What? After what I did to Tefiti? No!" Maui said, "I told you I know that somebody is also after this jewel and they also have a map. Which means we're here to get this jewel away from here before-"
BOOM! The whole ground shook as dust emerged from a far wall to Moana's left. Peering over the cavern edge, she saw that a whole was made in the wall, and suddenly emerging from it was a large contraption of wood and rope. It was some sort of large wooden ladder attached to a set of wheels that suddenly lowered down, before stopping right at the central platform over the podium with the Heart. Moana then noticed the passenger that was on it, a coconut with arms and legs. Kakamoora!
"...exactly THIS happens," Maui finished with annoyance. At this point, the Kakamoora grabbed the Heart from the podium already. As it peered into the Heart, there was suddenly more rumbling. The contraception ladder was already raising upward, with the Kakamoora sliding down the ladder, as suddenly the central podium was gone.
A geyser of lava erupted from where the central podium was standing, and several other geysers began to burst from parts of the lava flow. The room rumbled more as the walls started to crack open, with streams of lava pouring out of them. The heat was unbearable as the shaking continued and the lava floor below began to rise.
"Time to go!" Moana cried out. Maui was way ahead of her as immediately he transformed himself into a lizard that had already begun skittering across the cave floor towards the entrance. Moana had also turned and began running, her bare feet slapping hard on the stone floor. As she ran, she could feel the heat of the lava as it started to pour into the tunnel they were in.
She ran through the section of smooth stone with ease, but when she reached the section of the rougher natural rock, she felt a sharp pain on her foot.
Her right foot had caught on one of the rocks, and suddenly Moana found herself falling forward. Her eyes widened with fear as a yelp escaped from her mouth. She put her hands forward to brace herself.
Suddenly there was a bright flash of light, followed by darkness.
Sometime later, Moana's head began to stir. She felt her head being prodded by something wet and warm. Her eyes began to flutter open as she saw herself on a smooth stone floor, with blinding lights falling onto it from square holes.
Slowly she turned her head to the source of the prodding. Immediately in front of her was a black fast with bright green eyes. Moana screamed, causing the creature to back up in front, yelling in unison. Moana quickly scrambled upward to get into a sitting position, still screaming her lungs out. The creature also continued to scream as its wings suddenly unfurled from its back.
"Woah! Woah! Hey!" a voice cried out. Suddenly, a boy roughly in his late teens with bushy brown hair emerged. He hugged the creature's head, but not in a way of attack. It almost looked like the way Moana would comfortably hug Pua if he got frightened.
"It's okay, bud," the boy said as the beast suddenly began to relax and refurl his wings, "It's okay, she just startled that's all." At this point, the boy turned to look at Moana.
"Sorry about that," he said with an awkward grin, "He gets nervous around new people." Moana didn't know how to respond. Her screaming stopped, but she was breathing hard, taking in her current unfamiliar surroundings.
"What-what is that thing even?" she managed to say.
"This is Toothless," the boy said, "And he's a dragon. Which, I know, sounds crazy! Even in my world it's crazy!" The boy chuckled before clearing his throat.
"Sorry I'm Hiccup," he said pointing to himself, "And you are?"
"Uh, Moana?" Moana replied still uncertain what's going on.
"Where am I?" Moana asked, "What is going on?" That's when three more individuals appeared. Two of them were wearing these black intimidating looking attire, while the other was wearing strange attire that covered his torso, legs, and feet.
One of the black attired people, a man with a weird form of a hat, looked down at Moana and rolled his eyes.
"Oh great! Another one?" he said annoyed.
Elsewhere,
Inside a ship was The Baron. The Infamous intergalactic space hunter. He takes great sport out of hunting endangered or even non-endangered. He takes their prize possessions, or even there body parts all to show off his skills.
He was in his room looking at said trophies with pride. Except this wasn't the case. He was bested by those damn twins. They are next on his chopping list.
The Barron held his glass as he tightened his hand around it as he had a tranquil look of fury. "I'll have their heads next to my fireplace." he muttered until his door open.
The person was a highly attractive, well built woman who seemed to be in her 30s. She had black short hair, glasses and alien-like armor on. "Sir, we have new info on who we are supposed to capture."
The Baron glanced at her for a split second and nodded. "Have Omega meet us on the main bridge." He instructed her as he walked off.
As they were walking down the hall of the ship, which outside has a view of their traveling through other worlds using some sort of transport. "Who are we capturing this time Shiva? Could it be those two brats?" He asked with a growl in his voice.
Shiva shook her head. "No No, where we're going is on a universe with a different earth. Apparently, a trion resides on said earth."
Barron looked with a surprised and astounded look on his face. "A Trion, huh?"
Shiva nodded and showed him the picture.
Barron took the picture and soon gave an evil grin. "Set course to our next target."
"Lee Titan." He said as the picture showed the young trion.
A Disaster is waiting to happen..and that disaster is coming.
