Long ago, Xadia, a world unlike any other, was rich in magic and wonder.
In the old times, there were only six primal sources of magic:
Sun
Moon
Stars
Earth
Sky
Ocean
But, 1,000 years ago, a human mage and his dsiciples discovered a 7th Primal Source…
Dark
But unlike the six, this seventh source used the essence of magical creatures themselves, to unleash dark and frightening power. It proved to be a pathway to many abilities… some considered to be chaotic and unnatural.
Frightened of what this would lead to after what they saw, the dragons and the Elves, the two sentient beings capable of wielding the primordial sources, had no choice but to drive the humans out of the land of Xadia, hoping to put a stop to the madness. Pushing the humans to the west, the continent was divided into two sectors.
The East containing the Magical Wonder Lands of Xadia.
The West the human kingdoms with Katallis being near the border that divided the two.
For centuries, the Dragons known as the Eight Pillars guarded the border; eight dragons each in command of the primordial elements of the Universe and Reality, along with the Dragon King himself: Avizandum. The humans referred to the Dragon King as Thunder, for when he spoke, his voice shook the earth, and the sky. But on the even of last winter's turn, the humans used unspeakable Dark Magic to slay the Dragon King, and then without mercy, the destroyed his only egg, his heir. The Dragon Prince.
Only the Eight Pillars remained, but when the King Fell and when the land of Xadia needed them most… they vanished without a trace.
Now the world stands upon the brink of all out war.
Though all were fully unaware of an even greater danger coming. A danger that Dark Magic had awoken and brought about.
And it is only a matter of time before nature redresses the balance. And with it, either destroy the world or have it remade by the victor.
