Callie ran to the gurney where she see a a little girl unconcious with a broken femur.
"Order an x-ray, CT and EEG. Call neuro and peds too. Book an OR, Stat."
She ordered to the intern while she scan the patient. The intern just looked at her in puzzle, Callie finally looked up to the intern.
"What are you waiting for?" Callie asked the intern
"A-a-are you a doctor, cause I know all the doctors here. And I havent seen you"
The intern answered her and she was stuned about it but she remain calm, she just sigh and she looked at the lab coat that interns wear. Dr. Grey, I wonder how is she related to Merideth.
"I am Callie Torres, yes, I am an orthopedic surgeon and Im good at it, now you go and do what I said before I break all your bones and no one can reset it but me Dr. Grey"
Dr. Grey just looked at her in horror and run.
They moved the patient to the emergency room 2. Callie change into scrubs and headed to the room where the patient is. There she see a familiaf face. She smiles and person smiles at her too
"How?! Dr. Torres, its really good to see you again" the person say when they looked up to to her and proceed to checking the patient again.
"Oh, come on Derek. We just seen each other last week" she chuckled and put some new sterile gloves to her hands.
"I mean yeah, we saw each other every now and then outside the hospital. But seeing you in this feilds again. Its other thing" Derek said, while he looked at her.
Callie just looked at him and rolled her eyes.
"You are always so dramatic Dr. Shepherd"
She approach the gurney and they both examined the results of the tests and the intern informed them that the OR is all ready. They are ready to roll when another person enters the room. Callie looked up and she see unfamiliar woman standing, the woman just looked at her also. The exchange of looks was cut when Derek speak.
"Dr. Robbins, perfect timing. Where rolling her to the OR"
They entered the elevator, Callie just stand there looking at her reflection on elevator door, She realize that in her absence there is a lot of things change. She dont know this Dr. Grey and Dr. Robbins, exact changes she missed. Then suddenly she felt the someone is looking at her then she moved her eyes to the reflective door and scan the small elevator room and there she see those ocean blue eyes looking at her. How can someone have an eyes like that. Its just beautiful.
"So, Dr. Torres I know youve been absent for a while and you dont know these two here. Well, this intern is Dr. Lexie Grey, Mers younger half sister. We call her little Grey"
Callie just mental note it. She didn't imagine Mer having a younger sister. Lexie offers her hands to Callie.
"Im so sorry earlier Dr. Torres, I-i just didn't know, I am just n-new here and and..."
"Its okay little Grey, no worries"
Callie just cut her, she looks so sorry after all. And just like her she had no any idea who is Lexie at the first place.
"So I assume that you already show her your latina genes" Derek and Callie just chuckles to each other
"And Callie this is Dr. Arizona Robbins, the new cheif of pediatric ward. Dr. Robbins this is Dr. Callie Torres, one of the best residents we have . And soon to be attending and cheif of ortho"
Callie slap Derek in arms for the last part he said. Derek just say a silent What.
Dr. Robbins held her hand to have a handshake with the latina.
"Nice meeting you Dr. Torres, future attending and chief of ortho" Arizona says
Callie show her signature eye roll and meet the waiting hand with a firm handshake.
"Nice meeting you too, Dr. Robbins new cheif of pedriatic and dont believe in everything he says"
Callie told her and she's about pull her hand when she realizes Dr. Robbins still have a firm grip on it. She just looked at there hands and looked again to the doctor, who stare at her. They stayed for second with that until the elevator stopped and thats where Dr. Robbins let go her hand.
Callie just think what did just happened. The elevator door opened and they walk to the scrub and start their routine. They entered the OR and works on the patient, Derek and Callie talks about everything, they laugh, its all that Callie needs on her coming back not until Derek was paged to another OR. The atmosphere bacame awkward, she remembers the things that happened in elevator.
She glance at Arizona sometimes and she swears that she caught the other doctor looking at her work that makes her anxious about what she's doing. Is she checking out my work? Is she doubting me ? Thats what Callie think.
Minutes past and she still caught Dr. Robbins and she had enough. She put down her tools and looked to other doctor.
"Okay, do you have problem on my work, you keep on looking at me as if you are doubting my skills. Is there anything you want to ask or suggest?"
Arizona startled about what Callie says.
"Wha- no, Im not judging you or what, its just that I've had a fair share of working with ortho surgeons, cause you know kids break bones all the time, umh your approach just seem new to me and Im just curious"
Arizona told Callie. Callie just nodded her head and proceed to her work again.
"You can just ask you know. Im willing to answer you"
Callie offers to Arizona. Arizona smile to herself
The operation run smooth. Arizona asked about the approach Callie did and Callie politely answered her. Callie is closing when Arizona spoke again but this time its not about the surgery anymore.
