The Bolero of Fire
Chapter 3: The Song of Water
Princess Ruto was waking from her sleep. Her Fish-Ocarina was ringing. Someone had played the Serenade of Water way to loudly. She turned of her Fish-Ocarina.
It was winter in Zora's domain. So apparently someone had called in winter early. This was not a time for some lousy words of deflection. She needed to get ready and find the metal boots again. She needed to be ready for the Water Temple to finally be opened.
Being royal, she was allowed to know some things in advance. For example, that she was supposed to be the sage of water. She also still had the
As a Zora, it she didn't need the metal boots. But they had to exchanged for some normal winter shoes in that ice cave. So that she could also have some fun.
But first, she needed to get to Lake Hylia to use the Zora's Sapphire on the Door of Water in front of the Temple of Water.
She played the altered Serenade of Water on her Ocarina, which caused her to be teleported to Lake Hylia. She didn't speak a word with the owl. She didn't trust it anymore.
Swimming towards the Water Temple, she put the Zora's Sapphire into the socket above the door. This caused the water to lower, redirecting it somwhere else.

Somewhere in the Temple of Fire, a group of 4 heroes were very happy that the temperature of the water cooled down, as did the air around them. Wind magic worked a little better now.

Now only for those metal shoes, princess Ruto thought. She played another altered version of the Serenade of Water to teleport her to the Ice caves.
As she could control ice - as well as her having a sabre - that dungeon was a piece of cake. She exchanged the metal boots with some winter boots and was done with it.

Back in the Fire Temple…
As they freed another Goron, they got another piece of wisdom:
The Book of Fire is incomplete without the Book of Water. Watch for the walls to complete the Song of Fire… and the Song of Water.
But there were no musical notes on the walls at all. Maybe in the next room?
As they looked for musical notes, they stumbled into a room with many holes. It was very hot.
Suddenly the dragon Volvagia appeared, who seemed to be very angry.
They were very lucky to be able to avoid the fire from her mouth.
"Maybe we now we have to get rid of the Goron's Ruby!" Malon shouted.
"We first have to get out of here!" Sheik suggested.
Somehow they found their way out without getting burned to a crisp.

Princess Ruto was not finished composing the true Song of Water. Noone else should have such direct control over water. Of course the Forest and Wind Sages had to have some extent of control over water, but no direct control.
Sometimes she still thought about the Bolero of Fire and how it was supposed to represent friendship. That seemed to be a lie from that Goron King named Darunia. Whenever you needed him, he somehow wasn't there. The Bolero of Fire seemed to be more of a Song of Fire. There was no need to bewitch people into some form of friendship.
If only they had destroyed the Goron's Ruby earlier…

"We need to get out of here."
"I think we need to throw the Goron's Ruby into the crater."
And so they climbed up again.

Now that got rid of the Zora's Sapphire.
