„Where am I?"
Are my first words upon waking up, and trying to get my eyes to open and view in what predicament I found myself once again.
„In prison, mate." Said a voice behind me.
I fully open my eyes, fear begins to swell within me, turning around I spot a man, leaning against a wall.
„Prison? What do you mean?" I ask as I analyse the man.
He seems to be in his thirties, thirty-six years old, maybe? He has short, black hair and brown eyes. His hair seems like it wasn't washed for weeks, and his eyes lack any real emotion.
„What do you mean, what do I mean? What does this look like to you? A bar?" He says, but I can't pin point if he's joking or serious.
I glance at his clothes, those are most certainly clothes a prisoner would wear. I take a look at myself just to notice, that I too, am wearing the same clothes of a prisoner.
„B-But I can't be in prison!" I say, louder than needed.
„I didn't do anything illegal in my life, I swear!" Before I can continue speaking, the man interrupts me.
„Be quiet, will you!? We don't want to cause unnecessary ruckus, got it?" I realize he is right, screaming won't do me no good.
So I try to ask him questions instead, after all, I have no memory of how I got here...actually... I don't even remember other things...like, who are my parents...? Why don't I remember such basic things!?
I still remember what an airplane is, so why can't I remember who my mother is!?
„You good, pal? You seem a little shaky." The man snaps me out of my thoughts.
„I-I am fine... I just... have no idea how I got here, is all..." I say, still a bit unsure of what to do, I try to ask the questions I deem important as of now.
„Do you know how I got here?" I ask the man.
„Heh, how would I know? You were simply dragged in here, unconscious, and slept for a good few hours until you've finally decided to wake up " He says with a smile. A smile I cannot share.
„Where is here? What kind of prison even is this?" The man looks me up and down, his smile faints, he looks me in the eyes.
„You aint from here, are you?" I take a step back, unsure of what to think of this. „What do you mean, ,,from here,, ?" I answer, dumbfounded.
„Ight, listen up, mate" he says in a more serious tone.
„You are currently in Gensokyo, a world filled with magical, mythical, and what do I know sorts of shenanigans "...I...what?... is this man messing with me?
„What? H-" I try to say how ridiculous he is but he interrupts me once again.
„Ey, let me finish!" He says. I stay silent and continue listening, despite my better judgement.
„Anyways, right now, we are located in a place inside Gensokyo, called the Scarlet Devil Mansion, specifically, its dungeons." I want to say something but he beats me to it.
„Yeah, I kinda lied about this being a mere prison...it is just better for me to think of it as a prison, sorry about that" I was speechless, and yet had to know if he was truly messing around with me or if he was dead serious.
„Are you serious? Do you think I'll believe something like this? Nice joke, but I don't think this is funny..." I say, I don't want to believe that what he says is true, no way.
He looks at me and rolls his eyes.
„Believe me or not, that doesn't matter. What does matter is that if you wish to live you better be prepared for any surprises." He says as he continues.
„You won't last long with that mindset, so ya better listen to what I can tell you or you are doomed." He says, shifting against the wall.
At this point, even if I still truly want to refuse what he is telling me as the truth of the situation, I find it hard to convince myself. The way he said it, it seemed genuine. Genuine enough, for the fear inside me to multiply.
„I-If what you are saying is true, then... How do I get out? H-How do I get back home?" I say, one can hear the desperation in my voice.
„Heh, I have no clue." As he said that another part of me died inside.
„But, I may know how to get out of here, this dungeon and mansion." Hope has returned to me, even if just a bit from the amount I already lost, it was enough to make a faint smile appear on my face.
„Really?!" I almost shouted that out loud.
„Be quiet! Gaah... you are going to be the end of me..." he says that, but I can see he's smiling.
„But don't get too excited yet." He switches back to a more serious face.
„For you see... I forgot to mention who lives in this place and what they do to us, the ,,prisoners,, ." I lost the smile.
„First of, tell me, do you know what Vampires are?"
...Vampires... Creatures of the night, who require human blood to survive, they don't like the sun and...that's pretty much all I know. I never really was a fan of mythology, even if it did interest me at times.
„Uh, yes. I know a bit about them but... why shou...ld..." A chill goes down my spine.
„You don't want to tell me that...?" He simply nods, confirming my thoughts and fears.
„Vampires own this place." He says, and waits for me to digest this information before he continues.
„Two vampires, so it could have been worse, but." I look into his eyes, and I see how serious he is.
„Do not feel relieved that there are only two of them, for they are more than enough to take on an entire army." I shivered at the thought of how he describes them.
„Funny enough, they are the size of children at the age...of nine I say, maybe ten." This does not make it any less scary.
„D-Do you know their names?" I ask, for I think it could be important to know how they are called. After all, know your enemy and all, right?
„Eh, yes. Yes, I caught the headmaid mentioning their names at one point. You don't get to hear or see em often around here themselves." a headmaid?
„The older sister, is called Remilia. She's the one who pretty much owns this place." older sister...
„The younger one, goes by the name Flandre." Flandre...
„Now, I think it's a good idea to tell ya what the residents of this place do to us, no?" I am curious but also afraid to know.
„Well, as you can imagine, vampires, like humans, need to eat to survive..." makes sense to me.
„Of course, they require human blood to survive, but that does not mean they don't have to eat" so that means...
„Eh, you get sucked dry and turned into a pie, that's the base of it." ... I hate this man.
„However..." please, be serious but don't tell me something I don't need to know, for the sake of my frail sanity at this point...
„Remilia will only be served your blood, Flandre on the other hand..." ...what on the other hand?
„From time to time, one unlucky soul is taken from the cell, and dragged deeper into the dungeon... if it goes deeper, not sure." yes, and?
„Well, those people are then taken to Flandre herself, as ,,playthings,, per say... and..." come on, spit it out!
„Well, let's just say you hear a scream and nothing more. Ever again from the same person which might have spoken before, for you will never see the same person again." ...That is something I didn't have to know... I hope...
„From what I gathered and heard the maids passing by say... Flandre is locked up in her room." locked up?
„But that's beside the point, point is, if the headmaid comes down here and chooses you to either go to Flandre or be the next meal for Remilia, you are as good as dead." ...This is horrible. How did I get myself into this situation? Why can't I remember!? I want out! OUT! OUT I SAY!
„I don't want to die here..." I say, trying not to almost scream this time around.
„Heh, don't we all, pal?" He says with that smirk of his. That reminds me...
„Say, I still don't know your name and... neither do you mine." As I say this he flinches for a second, but just a second.
„Ah, mate. Names, let's not do names, it haunts one once the person gets dragged away, never to return." I think I see his point...but still...
„But we gotta address ourselves somehow, right?" I tell him, looking into his eyes to see any emotion. But to no avail, he seems to lack it, most of it at least. I don't blame him, though. He has to have been here for weeks at the very least.
„Ight, tell you what. You can call me ,,K,, alright?" said ,,K,, „And how do ya want me to call you, hmm?" K says, pointing at me.
„Well... I guess with my real name?" I ask him and he quickly shakes his hands in denial.
„nah, nah. Name yourself after a letter or number, don't use any name, not even a fake one." says K. „If we ever get out of here alive, somehow stumble our way into the Human Village, that's when ya can get yourself a name. Use your real one or a fake one, I don't really care. I think I'll use my real one if we get to that point." I nod, and start to think of a way for me to be called... I think I know...
„12" I say. A faint smile appears on K.
„12? Any particular reason you choose that number?" asked K.
„Not really, the number 12 just came to mind is all." K nods his head in confirmation, for himself, most likely.
„Well then, nice to meet ya, 12." Says K and bows. I return the smile and bow as well. „Nice to meet you too, K."
Some time passes as we talk about, well, pretty much common stuff. For example, what I think is better, a wood or stone house. K said the ups and downs for both and why you should never make a house of hay. Anyways, as time passed and we ran out of things to talk about, K nudged me to get my attention.
„Stand up, the headmaid is going to check upon all of us if everything is as it should be" right, there is a headmaid apparently, I forgot to ask about her... but before I could ask, I spotted who I would assume to be the headmaid. She was wearing what I think was a French maid uniform, she had silver hair and blueish-silverish eyes, more silvery I'd say.
How do I know that? Well, it's because she is staring at me. She is starring right into my eyes.
OH GOD, SHE IS STARRING RIGHT INTO MY EYES.
I panic, many thoughts come flying to my mind, is she thinking about dragging me out of here? To serve me as a meal for Remilia? Or drag me to Flandre and have her do whatever she does with me? I don't want to die! At least not yet! I just woke up here today, I have no idea how I got here, but still. I still want to at the very least calm down, the constant stress is starting to really get to me. Thi-
„Hey, you with me?" huh?
„12, come one, respond already. Did you die while standing? Hah! Never seen someone die like that before!" I come back to reality. I look around. Still in the same cell. The headmaid is gone and K is sitting on one of the beds smiling.
„Has the headmaid scared you that much?" Said K, shortly after having a few quiet laughs.
„Ahhh... No need to be so afraid of her." says K, but I doubt that very much.
„Don't worry, she won't do anything as long as you don't try anything. She just came to check upon every inmate here. Even though were more of a livestock than anything else..."
„Who was that?" I ask.
„Didn't ya listen? That was the headmaid." Thanks mister obvious...
„No, I mean, what's her name?" K pondered lightly, recalling her name, I assume.
„Sakuya, Sakuya Izayoi is her name." K finally utters after a short while.
„And no, she isn't a vampire or anything, she's just like us, human." she's... human?
„She's human, yet works for the devil. Quite literally. If you want my opinion, she's a traitor to her own kind." Sakuya... why would you serve a vampire? two, no less.
„But hey, who am I to call out? She's clean, has her own room most likely and certainly isn't on the menu unlike the rest of us here. She may be a traitor to her kind, but she doesn't have to worry like us. I would do the same if I was in her place." K rambles. So before he starts rambling even more, I ask a question.
„But what about the other maids? Or butlers?"
K looks at me.
„What about them?"
I sit down next to him on the bed, tired of standing around for no reason.
„Aren't they human as well, then?" I say that, and K gets a good laugh before he breaths in and out a few times.
„No butlers, only maids. The maids... are fairies." ... I think at this point this shouldn't really concern me, yet it still does a bit.
„Fairies? Small little beings?" I ask.
„Heh, if you consider the size of a child a small little being, then yeah." says K and continues speaking.
„These fairy maids are mischievous little assholes, let me tell you that. From the few I've seen down here, they are pretty lazy in comparison to the headmaid. They just walk around, clean there and there, mostly leaving a lot of dust still behind, mind you. Leaving after only a few minutes of entering and that's the end of this story, really."
„I...see." I say, not sure what to think about the fairies now.
„Anyways, I think we should get some sleep." Sleep? Well, I am not THAT tired, yet. But I did sleep only like, what, 4 hours ago? What time even is it? Is it night outside? Is it morning? I have no clue...
„Why, are you tired?" I ask, K looks around, as if checking if we are being watched. He comes closer to me and whispers into my ear.
„In about 4 hours, they will serve dinner." dinner... so night is coming, right? Did I manage do skip lunch? Bummer...
„After that, they will come back in 2 hours, to pick Remillia's future meal." I nearly forgot about the vampire situation, thanks for reminding me, K...
„During that time, the door out of the dungeon remains unlocked. That is the time for us to strike and try our luck in getting the hell outta here."
I slightly get confused.
„That's great and all... but how are we going to get out of THIS cell in the first place?" I ask, but glancing at K, I think he has an idea.
„You see...I was preparing for this moment for a while now. Here." He moves away the second bed and... !
It's a hole!
I have no idea why there is a hole, I was about to ask until I noticed that the hole seemed like it was slowly but surely scratched and punched out. The faint old blood stains on a few spots confirm that... that maybe I shouldn't ask about everything.
„This hole leads into an off side closet storage room. It SHOULD be open at all times. After all, who the hell locks a closet room no one should be able to access but the ones who have access to the rest of the mansion, right?" Says K, I nod in response, not wanting to be rude.
„Once the time is right, well crawl through, get to the hall via the door, get out of the dungeon through the door which will later be opened, find the main hall doors and escape, simple." is what K says, but I think it's not going to go as easy as he thinks it is.
„So, let us get some sleep. It's going to be a long night for us." Says K, and lies down on the bed above the one which we were sitting on.
I just simply take the one under him and try to rest, even if I'm not so tired at the moment. It would be a lie to say that I'm not excited about us escaping, but, I am also afraid that if a single thing does not go according to K's plan, that we are goners. But, I'll try my best to ensure our escape, after all. There isn't much else to lose now, is there? After thinking some more, I eventually did end up feeling a bit sleepy. So, I closed my eyes and let sleep consume me...
„Wake up."
Just... a little longer...
„Come on, 12, Wake up!"
I am shaken awake.
„Huh? Where am I?" I say, still not fully awake.
„Heh, I think we already did this not so long ago, mate." I hear, as I finally come to my senses.
„Oh...right, Gensokyo, Scarlet Devil Mansion, dungeon, cell..." I recall a few things without really realizing.
„Yup, now stand up, dinner is about to be served." I do as he says, and stand up, clean myself of the dust which somehow got on me, and wait.
Not long after, the headmaid, Sakuya, comes in with a few fairy maids it seems and what I assume is the promised dinner. Not much is said, really, it seems everyone including the other prisoners here all went silent the moment they heard the door open. We receive our meal, get a few stares to see if everything is alright and they leave shortly after.
„Did they put something in the food?" I say as an offhand comment, not really expecting to get any real response.
„Well, certainly not human meat of any sorts, haha." ...I immediately regret asking.
I take a bite of the meal and... it's actually pretty good. Not something ,,too fancy,, but still quite tasty. I bet REAL prisoners don't get such kind of food. ...But it also most likely is not tampered with... since I'm still unsure. After we finished our meal, we waited for about ten minutes, before K spoke up.
„Ight, listen up. We only got one shot at this. I expect that you do exactly as I say, kapiche?"
I nod, mentally preparing myself to what is about to come. K nods back to me, signalling that were starting. I'll call it Operation: Escaping the Devil's Claws. Yeah! That sounds awesome! Ah, I already am distracting myself! Focus!
„Alright, here we go..." Says K, moving the second bed to reveal the hole in the wall.
We slowly crawl through it. It's pretty small, so it takes a bit of time. Thank god I keep myself in acceptable shape. Anyways, here we are. The closet, storage, whatever room. I look around, trying to spot anything of use. ...! A pipe! Why is there a pipe, I have no idea. Maybe a replacement one, but I certainly don't complain! I take it, for self-defence if things REALLY escalate.
What do I hope to achieve with a pipe against possibly a vampire? I don't have a clue! But the thought of having any kind of weapon does calm me down a tad bit. As I examined the pipe, K whispers behind my back to me.
„A pipe? Heh, might come in handy, but let's move on. We don't have all day... or night, actually, hehe."
I hate but also appreciate the attempt at humour. He opens the door, leading to the hallway with all of the cells. We walk out and head for th-
„Hey! You got out? Please, open my cell door!" says a voice, belonging to a prisoner to the last cell close to the door we are currently aiming for.
„Sorry, mate. We don't have the key and neither the time." said K, the prisoner is not too pleased.
„You can't just leave me in here! You hear me!?" he starts to get louder. Not good.
„Ey, keep it down, or we get caught!" says K, not realizing that he shouldn't have said that.
„Really? Well then, if I can't get out of here alive... then neither can you!" he says before sticking his head out through the iron bars of the cell.
„HEY! THESE FOOLS ARE TRYING TO ESCAPE AND WON'T LET US OUT!" He starts to scream.
Suddenly, I felt angry. Very angry, actually. Who does he think he is? Ratting out two fellow inmates just because they have no way of getting you out? Are you that selfish!? I will not allow- No. I CANNOT allow you to get in the way, in MY way! I quick walk towards him.
„THEY JUST-...huh?" Before he even realized that I walked up to him. I raise the pipe in my hands and-
*crunch*
...
...
...
It just hit me what I have done.
I... I have killed a man... in cold blood, I smashed his head in with the pipe. Slightly bending the pipe as a result. What's more important is that... blood. Blood is spilled everywhere. The pipe and I are almost fully covered in blood.
„Heh, good thinkin! Now he won't cause anymore trouble." says K and I feel a pat on my back.
„Come on, let's keep going before they come check what all this noise was about." K grabs a hold of my wrist and starts dragging me towards the door out of the dungeon.
I glance at the man, whose smashed head is still poking out of the cell. His head is completely covered in blood, which is still slowly leaking out. I can't even say what colour his hair and eyes were anymore... but, I do not feel sorry. I feel no remorse. It was his fault, after all. He brought this upon himself.
„If I was that guy, I would be happy. He suffered a quick painless death. Don't let that get to ya, pal." says K, trying to make sure I don't stress out about it.
„Why, would you truly want to die?" I respond.
„Honestly, death is a preferable option. I lost hope a good while ago." says K, seemingly out of the blue.
„You should cling to some form of hope, you know?" I say to K, trying to give him some form of hope, I don't want him suddenly deciding to just sit down and do nothing for no good reason.
„Hope is a fool's concept."
I try to say something in return, but he once more, is faster than me.
„Don't waste our time with this, 12, come, let's get the hell away from this dreadful dungeon."
K pulls down the door handle and...
*click*
It's open! Just like K said it would be!
„There we go, one step closer to freedom." he says as we make our way up the stairs.
Some time passes, and we are currently walking in what seem like the main halls in the ,,Ground level,, of the mansion. While we were walking, we encountered some fairy maids. However, we managed to simply hide behind a wall, under a side table which had a vase on it with a very pretty red flower in it and so on. The fairies really aren't the smartest light bulbs in the shed... or maybe they just don't really pay attention to their surroundings. In either case, we got past them with little to no difficulty.
„How much longer do we need to walk? It feels like we are walking for ages!" I say, since, it almost looks like we are walking in circles at this point.
I am pretty sure I saw that table with the scratch mark at least two times now!
„Eh, I dunno. I'm sure it won't take much longer anymore." He says and continues.
„Anyways, we should still be careful. Its night time, which means Remilia is roaming around or sitting somewhere before she goes from point A to point B."
He's right, vampires are active at night, aren't they? I still don't know what to expect, how do they look like? All I know is that they are supposedly the size of a child but dangerous as a rhino. I have no real image of their appearance. How will I know who's Flandre and who's Remilia?
...No wait. Flandre is locked in her room, if I recall. So if we run into one of them, it can only be Remilia, the owner of this place as I was told. Still, I hope we don't run into each other.
„What about Sakuya?" I ask in which K promptly responds.
„The headmaid? Don't worry about her, she should still be preparing stuff in the kitchen. So no way are we going to run into her for the moment."
I sigh in relief.
„The fairy maids don't seem to be around anymore, and even if we run into one, we can hide like before and she won't even realize anything." K is right, I don't remember seeing a maid in quiet some time now. Does this mean we are getting closer to the exit?
„So, really, the only thing we have to worry about is running into Remilia. But I doubt we run into her. This place is huge! It would be a miracle if she found us. Considering, even though she can probably fly faster than we can run, there is no need for her to hurry anywhere. If she is walking somewhere, she most likely is walking in a slower pace." says K and continues to ramble away.
„And I don't think she can hear us even with her vampiric hearing, heh-"
„Correct, but I can still smell you. The blood on your friend, that is."
...
...
...
I find myself unable to take another step. I feel a freezing chill run down my spine, unable to breathe properly. My blood turns cold and my fear reaches levels I didn't think were humanly possible to achieve. I take a glance at K's face. Fear. For the first time, I can see fear in his eyes. I think he knows how fucked we are right now. I can't bring myself to turn around. To face the devil itself. I don't want to. I clench the pipe tighter, if it was made of a lighter material it would of bend all the way I bet by how hard I was gripping it.
„Heh, well, that sure is a surprise." I glance towards K, who started talking with a fake smirk, probably trying to get us some more time.
„A surprise indeed." says, who I assume is most certainly Remilia.
The voice itself sounds childish I would say...but you can hear out a sense of authority and elegance in it. Which makes it worse in this situation.
„It is an honour to be speaking to you, Miss Scarlet, for sure." K continues to try and somehow save our skin despite knowing this to be very unlikely.
„What gives us, mere mortals, such honour to be in your presence, while also get the privilege to be spoken to by you?" One way or another, I can feel a smirk be formed without having to look behind me. I am unsure, however, if it is a normal smirk or a sadistic one.
„huhuhu, a charmer, aren't we?" I can hear her step closer.
„However, I fear, you won't be able to charm your way out." I can feel hear eyes land on the back of my head, inspecting me. I shiver slightly, I don't think anybody noticed.
„Whose blood is that?" I hear her ask and- !
...
I-I feel a cold finger slide down the side of my neck, no doubt trying to get some of the almost dried blood to inspect it further. How did she even sneak up on us? We should have heard her walking behind us, right? Were we too deep into our conversation to not notice? Are vampires able to silently sneak up on unsuspecting prey? So many questions, so little answers and most certainly no time.
„Eh, just some random prisoner. Was making a ruckus. My pal here didn't want you to be disturbed and took care of him, hehe." I do not think this is helping AT ALL, K.
„Hmmm... I see..." I can hear her take a single step back.
„But how are you planning on replacing the prisoner, hmmmm?" oh no. I don't like where this is going. Not one bit.
„Humans don't grow on trees, you know?" To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if humans DID grow on trees at this point.
„Well, maybe they do. Who knows?"
K, please.
„Anyways,..." K continues talking but he also got closer to me. This resulted us getting in a position, in which Remilia is unable to see in front of us. K starts to move his hand around, making weird gestures which I assume are meant for me to grasp while also continuing to speak to Remilia. I am unsure of what K is trying to tell me but... If I had to take a shot I think... I think he means ,,Run. Run, and don't stop running.,, one single glance at his eyes confirm my suspicion. I can see sadness in his eyes. He slowly nods, looking into my eyes, still talking to Remilia, trying to distract her. Why is...
Oh no.
OH NO.
Don't tell me he is going to... !
Before I even realize what is going on, K flings me forwards and I begin to run. Run. Run like I never before ran in my life. Only after less than five seconds. I heard something which is going to haunt me for the rest of my life. K's scream. Only one. But one filled with pure agony.
I didn't dare stop to turn around. I didn't even dare to think what would happen if I did. All I know is that if by some miracle I survive. I will kiss the ground each day five times. As I keep running, aimlessly through the halls, with little to no orientation and most certainly no organization. I feel something fly pass me. Something small yet big enough to appear as if it was a motorcycle passing by me twice, no thrice, the speed of me running. I come to a complete halt as it lands almost in front of me. I look up from the floor and...
...
...
What I see in front of me is a little girl. A little girl, wearing a light pink mob cap of sorts and a similar fitting dress. I don't know what kind of dress, I'm no expert and never really cared about clothes and what not. She possessed light pale blue hair which stopped around the shoulders, pale skin, which would likely belong to a corpse and the most prominent features, the deep scarlet red eyes. With slits as a snake would have. And a pair of bat like wings on her lower back. All in all. The image in my head seems tame compared to what my eyes are showing me. If I didn't reach the maximum capacity of my fear yet, now I most certainly have. I look at her hands. Blood. They are covered in what I can tell is, fresh, human, blood. K's blood.
...I don't know what came over me to think my next action was a wise one but... before I even realized what I was doing, I screamed in anger and charged at the vampire with pipe in hand, swinging at her with all my might I could still muster after running for what feels like a good minute.
...The pipe never connects however... It is instead... broken in half.
She stopped the pipe from crushing her head by simply raising her hand and grabbing it mid-swing.
„What a gentleman you are, trying to hit a lady with a bloody pipe, hmm?" She says with, I am sure this time, a sadistic smirk. A smirk, which is showing a fang.
In fear and panic of my current situation. I make the very clever decision of trying to ,,punch,, the vampire in the face. Not even halfway in I can feel my fist slapped away as if it was a bug, instead of me punching her, it ended up with me getting punched instead. I flew for what feels like six meters before I slapped my back against the wall. I felt like dying was a blessing at the moment. I could feel nothing else but pain and the taste of my own blood. Both my back and my face hurt. My face, however, was in a far worse situation. I am no doctor, but even I know what a broken nose is and feels like. And yup, I most definitely have a broken nose. I squirm in pain and slightly move around on the floor and carpet. Slowly but surely losing grip and feeling my eyes closing and opening.
I feel someone grab me by my shoulders and pick me up. I can faintly see the outline of what clearly is Remilia. I can't really feel her touch anymore, but I can still hear her speak.
„Impressive. Most humans die by a single punch." She says, looking into my barely open eyes at this point with her vampiric ones.
„You'll make a great playmate for my dear little sister. At least for a while before she breaks you, huhuhu!"
I slowly start to hear less and less, my vision fading into blackness.
„Perhaps you can still be of some use to me, after all..." are the last words I hear before I am unable to hear, see or feel anything anymore. I can still hear my thoughts and my heart faintly beating. But, I think I'm falling asleep.
Will I wake up from this sleep? Do I bleed out and die? I don't know. But, whatever happens next... I doubt it could be worse then what I just had to go through, right? ... Right?
