Chapter six:

I lay on the cart to which I am buried under carefully placed items.

Donnie has everything set up so now they just need to get me inside.

It is into the time of the afternoon by now. We are even drawing closer to the time of the evening so we need to do this.

My heart is pounding in my chest as I feel them move the cart to take it inside. I wait then feel it stop. I don't move at all as I can barely make out what they're saying.

"Sensei! We found so much stuff at the junkyard!" Mikey speaks first managing to give a cheery voice.

I wish that he didn't have to pretend, I remind myself that it's all for the sake of the plan. I keep myself still.

"Have either of you seen Leo or Raph today?" Splinters calm voice questions the two.

"No. We invited them to join us. They declined." Donnie responds calmly.

I am actually pretty impressed with how well they are acting right now. I knew they could do it.

"I see. Well you two put all that away. I'll be in my room." Splinter tells them which I hope is what he's actually gonna be doing.

"Sounds good. Most of the stuff we found should actually help me with some projects I'm working on. So we can stick it in my lab." Donnie confirms and the cart moves again.

I wait a little longer and hear them finally sigh in relief as the cart stops.

They remove the stuff off of me and I get up. They look like they just survived a dangerous animal encounter emotionally at least. They're not hurt.

"He's in his room." Donnie confirms then we move to a back corner of his lab. "Okay. This camera I can hide on my sash." He whispers putting it on. He made the camera look like it's just a clip. He adds a tool to the clip to make it seem not suspicious that it's there. He hands me a tablet and I can see through the camera. "Here's headphones so he won't hear you." He hands me some headphones with a cord. Press this button to turn off watching it. It'll go silent so you can leave this and the earphones up there."

I nod in understanding of what he is telling me as I pay attention.

"And lastly these." Donnie hands me a metal rod with two metal partial circles. "I've already set it to be the size we need it to be. Just push the button here." He points to a button on the top. "It's the same one to release the hold too."

"I understand." I confirm to assure him that I'm following. I do see that he is worried about whether or not this will go well. I also know that as much as they are angry with Splinter, they still don't like what is going to happen. I just am glad that I took the burden of doing that last part off of their shoulders.

"Okay. Lets get you in place." Donnie moves to the area as we make sure Splinter isn't here.

Mikey stays close to us as we move.

"There." Donnie points to a box that is sitting in what seems to be a storage spot up above.

I can see that I can easily move around on an upper part of a machine from there. I nod and carefully climb up there to not break anything. I hide in the box that has a flap in the back so I can hide. I know that the flap is hidden on the side that Splinter won't be able to see. I set up the headphones and watch the tablet as Mikey and Donnie unload the cart. I know that it is to appear normal.

Mikey takes the cart out and Donnie goes around.

I can see the lay out pretty well. I figure that Donnie is making sure I'll know what to expect in that area. I stay quiet since I have to be hidden now.

With that Donnie heads out to the main room.

I watch all on the camera as they make it to the main room.

Splinter comes out of his room heading to the kitchen probably for tea.

I can't see Donnie though Mikey smiles with a nod to Splinter. I remind myself that this will be over and they won't have to pretend for much longer.

Mikey starts playing on his phone while Donnie heads to the kitchen.

Donnie approaches Splinter who is making tea. "Sensei?" He inquires causing the other to turn to him.

I watch with my heart pounding hoping that he buys our trick.

"Is it alright if I get your opinion on something? It's something I'm working on." Donnie inquires to Splinter. He seems to notice the other look to the clip and tool. "Oh. Oops. Sorry about that Master Sensei. I didn't mean to leave that on." He apologizes about it. "I was using this to check the measurements of a few things."

"Alright Donatello. I can help if it'll be quick." Splinter agrees causing me to sigh in relief.

"Thank you. I promise it'll be quick. I just wanted your opinion on if some things I'm thinking of doing will indeed be helpful. You know a lot more than we do after all." Donnie is convincingly happy to hear this. He leads the way not daring to turn the camera so I can see. He doesn't need to take that unneeded risk of seeming suspicious. He glances to Mikey as the other moves towards the front door.

"Where are you going Michelangelo?" Splinter inquires to which Mikey turns managing to smile.

"Oh. Raph invited me to go for a patrol with him, Leo and Casey. They'll be meeting me at Casey's to start with since they're already there. Donnie do you wanna join?" Mikey looks to Donnie letting their eyes meet.

"No. I'm good. If Sensei approves of the projects I think I'll start working on those." Donnie tells Mikey who nods then they glance to Splinter as if to make sure it's okay.

"Alright. Be back by supper time." Splinter tells Mikey who nods.

"I promise Sensei." Mikey then heads out of the place.

It feels good to see him leave and know he's going straight for Aprils.

"This way Sensei." Donnie leads Splinter into his lab.

I don't doubt that Splinter is glancing around looking for me. I wait until I see the area come up and I move a finger to the button. I don't click it yet as we need to ensure that he relaxes.

Donnie turns to face Splinter after grabbing some blueprints. He seems to pause as Splinter looks around the area.

I stay completely still so the box won't be moving at all.

"Sensei? Is everything okay? I can tell you about these machines if you want." Donnie offers and as Splinter takes in his surroundings he responds.

"No. It is alright. You're doing well getting so much stuff done." Splinter finally looks to Donnie and seems to be a little more at ease. He is still cautious however I think we fooled him into thinking that everything is fine. "Plus I have some work I need to get done myself. So let's check what you have so I can finish that before your brothers return."

"Okay." Donnie opens the blueprints showing them to Splinter. He stays close so Splinter won't suspect anything.

I turn off the camera and I take off the headphones, they are the go over your ears like earmuffs kind. I sneak out of the box once the items are quietly placed down. I sneak along the machines staying as low as I can. I get to a spot where I have a good angle to jump at Splinter. I know Donnie will understand if he gets knocked down too.

It's not an easy thing to do to trick Splinter.

So Donnie ending up in the tackle I have to do will have to be something that just happens. He keeps himself close to Splinter as he talks about the projects that he wants Splinters opinion on. He is going a little quickly as if to respect that Splinter has things to do.

I don't have a lot of time. I let him finish to which he turns away to put the blueprints away.

"So. What do you think Sensei?"

Splinter hums thoughtfully and glances up. He seems to be pretending to be thoughtfully though he glances to the box I was in.

I noticed it didn't shift when I snuck out so Donnie must have secured it.

So it's not moved at all.

I also stay low and still hoping that he won't notice me. I did move enough I shouldn't be easy to spot from the angle he's looking up at.

Splinters seems to be satisfied that there's nothing there and turns back to Donnie. "Well your ideas are quite good." He tells Donnie who has turned back around having even placed the hidden camera and tool on the table too. "I think that they all can be helpful. You should trust yourself more Donatello. You have wonderful ideas and you know how it'll help you and your brothers."

I leap and Donnie dips his head.

"Thank you Sensei." Donnie thanks Splinter. "I guess I shouldn't second guess things like this anymore. It makes me feel better that you think that they will actually work."

I slam into Splinter causing us to roll on the ground. I did indeed surprise him so I manage to get him under me. I quickly clip the makeshift handcuffs onto his wrists after pulling his arms back. I have to fight him on it as he tries to pull his arms away. I use my body weight to try to keep him down as he tries to shift his whole body. I get the thing to click closed around his wrists.

Donnie moves and I turn still keeping Splinter down as best as I can. He grabs Splinters feet that were moving to get in position to throw me off.

"Release me at once!" Splinter demands and I slam a hand not keeping his hands down, onto the back of his neck.

"No." Donnie tells Splinter and I spot some rope that must have fallen from Splinters robe.

I kick it towards Donnie so he can tie up Splinters feet. I pull out my sai, with the hand holding down Splinters restrained hands, and put it to by this dirty rats neck.

Donnie moves away to be in my view indicating that Splinters feet, and probably legs knowing Donnie, are tied up.

I focus on Splinter who glares up at me. "This ends now. Right here." I tell him with a growl as I glare in hatred at him. I know that he realizes what I mean by this. I am not going to hide any of this from him. I want him to know what I'm going to do to him. I do notice that Donnie seems to move further away.

Splinter chuckles at this looking like he's still going to win. "Ha! I know you all!" He tells me as we have a glaring contest. "You don't have it in you. None of you are killers. You won't be able to go through with it." He sounds so sure of himself on this. "Killing isn't something you can ever take back."

"Maybe you should have taken your own advice." I hiss at him pressing my sai more harshly against his neck. "Besides. Your behaviour has truly left us with no other choice. You left me with no choice other than to end this right here and now." I raise the sai. I see Splinter watch me still confident I won't be able to do it. I let out a snarl at him showing my anger and hatred towards him. "You can go find someone else to throw against a wall in hell." I swing my sai down and his eyes widen realizing that I'm doing this.

Splinter tries to swing his arms up at me. He does hit me in the chin however it is too late.

I manage to stab my sai right into his neck. I also straighten myself not letting his attack throw me off. I jerk the sai to the side slashing up his neck. I can hear him let out cries of pain as I do so. I don't doubt that it is super painful. I think he deserves this pain honestly.

Splinters instincts to live must have kicked in. His adrenaline gives him extra strength to which he thrusts his upper body upwards.

I'm knocked back though my sai is still in his neck. I hit the ground on my back with a slight gasp from the impact. I do manage to see Splinter from her.

Splinter tries to wiggle his feet out of the rope.

I don't want Donnie to have to step in to help. I get on my hands and knees to leap at Splinter.

Donnie does move around which gets Splinters attention for the briefest moment. He likely wanted that to happen.

I know that I have only a few seconds to act. I see Splinter swing his body around managing to knock Donnie off of his feet. I leap slamming down onto Splinter. I grab my sai in his neck and finish slashing his neck open.

Splinter falls with some gurgling sounds before falling silent. He is laying there not moving.

I am panting slightly as adrenaline from what I just did rushes through me. I stare at him as if daring him to move again. I start to calm down a little as I realize that he isn't moving. I feel my heart become a little heavy. I don't like to kill and all I can do is remind myself that this was for the best. I still know that what I did was wrong no matter how much Splinter deserved it. I try to push those feelings away. My hands do tremble a little from them however.

Donnie suddenly puts his arms around me hugging me to pull me out of my thoughts. "It's over." He tells me with a relieved though worried voice. "It's over Raph." His voice does tremble a little from what had to be done.

I let go of my sai with still shaking hands. I hug Donnie back a little tightly, making sure that I won't hurt him. I rest my chin on his shoulder as I stare past him. I did what I had to do.

Leo will be safe now, we all will be, because of what I did.

I did it for my family. I did it for the one that I love. I did the right thing. I had no choice. I keep telling myself that as me and Donnie sit there in silence hugging.

Donnie is shaking a little.

I don't blame him for being affected by this. I can still feel it weighing on my heart that I actually had to kill.

Deserved or not killing someone will weigh heavily on you.

I figured as much. I'll deal with it. I just am glad that the others don't have to live with the fact that Splinter died at their hands. I close my eyes imagining Leo to try to help calm myself down. I swear my hands are still trembling after all that happened. I am glad that the surprise worked.

We barely stopped things from going wrong.

If Donnie hadn't moved to that spot and let Splinter take out his legs we could have lost.

Splinter could have gotten away then we'd have quite the problem on our hands.

It is awhile before the two of us pull away.

I grab my sai as we get up moving away from Splinters body. I put my sai on the table and lean against it as my body feels like it wants to fall. I pull out my phone sending a message to everyone.

It's done. It's over.

I put my phone down and sigh in relief as I also try to breath to calm myself down more.

Donnie sits down on the ground facing away from Splinters body. He is using breathing to try to help himself as well. He is a little shaken from Splinter having to die. He does also seem to be trying to think of other things that isn't what happened. His eyes almost look distant as he looks at a machine. His eyes sweeping over the machine as if trying to plan what to fix on it.

I stay quiet not quite ready to really say anything yet. I still need a few moments myself.

At Aprils place April and Mikey glance to each other after reading the text. They're both relieved that it's over.

Mikey shivers a little. He is glad that it is all done and he didn't have to witness it. He however still has to know that he had helped in leading someone to their death. He tries to remind himself that it had to happen. He had to help protect Leo before the worst happened. He tries to push away the thoughts that he slightly helped in the killing.

April hugs him to try to help comfort him. She knows that it's going to be hard on all of them.

Splinter may have been evil and abusive. He however did raise the turtles and was all their mentor. He just let the darkness of his abuse consume him.

Mikey clutches onto April. He tries to focus on the fact that Raph and Leo will be safe now. He still finds tears coming to his eyes that fall, as still the knowledge that he had helped in another's death is still hitting him. He almost swears he feels like a train has run him over. He slightly slumps against April letting his tears flow.

"Everything's going to be okay." Aprils slightly shaky voice mentions as she is also feeling the impact. She's going to have to carry the secret that she had helped plan out someone's death. She is still glad that nothing else bad like what was happening will happen now that the culprit is gone.

Mikey nods softly and just tries to believe her as they remain embraced on the couch.

In Casey's place Casey puts an arm around Leo turning to the other.

Leo looks relieved that it is over. He won't have to worry what Splinter will do to him behind closed doors ever again. He can't hold in a small tremble. He worries about the others and how they're handling all of this. He wishes that there had been a way that they didn't have to bring them into this. He knows that the knowledge of what had to happen will hit them.

Casey pulls Leo close into a hug. He is relieved that it's all done. He just finds a part of him still can't believe that this actually happened. "It'll be alright. Everyone knows that this had to happen." He knows that Leo is fretting over the others.

Leo has always been the one to worry about his family members. He'll look out for them as best as he can. He'll even put their needs before his own if he's able to.

"It is safe now." Casey continues to try to comfort Leo since he thinks that Leo looks out for everyone. So he should look out for Leo on top of that he wants to help comfort his honorary brother. He lets Leo lean into him as he keeps hugging him to try to soothe him. He knows that there's no turning back now. He doubts that they'll even need to as it's good that Splinter is gone.

It is a good long little bit before me and Donnie have calmed down enough at least.

"I'll get a shovel." Donnie suggests before getting up then leaving the room.

I head out and grab a spare blanket. I wrap Splinters body up in the blanket. I pick him up as best as I can. I don't want Donnie have to look at Splinters body while we work to bury him; so none of our brothers will have to look at the body. I join Donnie who returns with a shovel.

We head out quietly as neither of us even know what to say. We're not even sure if this even needs any words. We make it to a secluded area in some woods, the ground here is all dirt so it won't be obvious something is buried here, where I put down the body.

"Here. Let me." I offer to which he hands me the shovel. "Help me with the measurements." I tell him and he nods. I watch him use a stick to draw the shape of a grave. I can tell that he does it quickly since we're just dumping the body.

"Dig deep. We'll have to make sure the rain won't bring it up." Donnie tells me to which I nod.

I begin to dig while Donnie stands guard just in case. I doubt anyone will be coming. I don't mind since it's less that Donnie has to watch this going on. I keep going and going focusing on my digging. I don't let any other thoughts intrude my mind. I don't really care about making it prefect. I just have to make it deep enough.

In the city April and Mikey, after taking a bit to let the impact of it settle on them a little, head to Casey's place.

April knocks on the door. She knows that they don't have to be careful anymore.

Casey opens the door letting them inside.

Mikey hurries further in and quickly embraces Leo. "I'm so sorry you had to go through all that." He tells his brother who returns the hug.

"It's not your fault Mikey. None of it. I never blamed any of you for anything. I hid it not wanting you to have to deal with any of this." Leo tells Mikey as the two remain in an embrace to try to help each other.

April wants to join the hug only to let Leo and Mikey have their moment together. She joins Casey in finding a spot to sit while the brothers give each other comfort.

Not to mention that Mikey wants to show Leo that he still cares, and that he isn't angry that Leo hid it from them.

April will get her turn to hug Leo. She just needs to wait her turn.

Night falls so Donnie uses his phone to shine on me. He does in a way that I can see what I'm doing. He checks on how deep it is. "That should be good." He tells me.

Donnie texts on his phone probably answering the others.

I think they're probably checking up on us. I keep going on filling the hole as I let Donnie deal with that.

It is super late by the time that it is filled.

I throw the shovel over my shoulder. I am sore and tired. I just know that this was worth it to do for all our sakes, especially Leo's. I turn to Donnie who looks to me.

"April and Mikey went to Casey's. We should join them." Donnie suggest to which I nod.

I approach him and put an arm around him in a hug. "It'll all be okay." I tell him which he nods softly. I let him go and we make our way to get to Casey's place.

We walk in silence which I decide to not break.

I want to give him time to process things if needed. Out of the corner of my eye I see Donnie open his mouth to speak.

Donnie closes his mouth deciding to not say anything.

I leave it alone.

We make it Casey's and are let inside by Casey. Donnie goes to find Leo while I put the shovel down by the door.

Casey puts a hand on my shoulder getting me to turn to him. He offers me a smile. "You did good. It'll be okay." He whispers to me. "I bet it's hard to have to carry that you had to kill. It was his fault for his behaviour." He tries to help me with the fact that I killed for the first time.

And killed for the last time ever if I have anything to say about it.

I nod softly. "Yeah. Thanks." I share a hug with him then we pull away.

We join the others where Donnie is found hugging Leo.

"I really appreciate all you all have done. Even though I wish that you didn't have to be involved in doing this whole thing." Leo admits clearly worried about how this will impact everyone.

"It's okay Leo." April assures him as Mikey joins in the hug. "I'm actually glad that we got involved. Now we can all heal and help you recover from this together."

"Plus I doubt there was any other way." Donnie points out to Leo as he and Mikey stay close.

Like Leo hugging them back is soothing.

"We can handle it all together." Mikey speaks in agreement.

Leo looks to me and I give him a smile.

Seeing him has helped me feel better about knowing I had to kill. "I'm okay." I assure him and approach him. "I'm just glad that you and everyone will be safe."

Leo nods softly. He then tilts his head back then forward to gesture for me to join the hug.

I obey and put my arms around the three as best as I can. I enjoy this moment of hugging my family. Knowing that I did what had to be done to keep them safe. I also am happy that they are all here alive and okay physically at least.

We will have to take some time to settle our emotions down. We can indeed do that together and be there for each other through it. We break the hug after a bit and I notice Donnie and Mikey go behind me and Leo.

Donnie nudges me while Mikey nudges Leo as they give us encouraging looks to be honest. They seem to think that this might lighten the mood a little.

"Between after me finding out and us telling you all." I respond to which Donnie nods.

Mikey jumps in excitement. "I knew you two were going to be able to be do it!" He cheers for us.

I glance to Leo who looks to me.

We smile sharing a small warm laugh at this all.

"You're all sleeping here." Casey mentions to which we turn to him.

"Thanks." I know that it'll be good as well all probably struggle to sleep after the day we've all had.

Leo gives a kiss to my cheek causing the others to giggle a little at the cuteness.

I look at him pulling him as close as I can and give him a quick kiss on the lips.

Leo smiles at me as I smile back after the kiss.

It'll take time yes however we all know that it'll be okay.

Everything fades away before my eyes.
