He stood near the stairs, baffled by what he'd seen. Chimney sweeps in the house, as if everything couldn't get more ludicrous in the days after Mary Poppins arrived, after Jane and Michael started blabbing about 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious', 'tea parties on the ceiling' and the rest of that hullabaloo before he took them to the bank, before that fiasco.

"You're going to be the luckiest person in the world." Jane said.

"Come along, children, spit-spot." Mary Poppins said in her usual chipper tone, ushering Michael and Jane upstairs.

"Just a moment." George had to stop them.

"Mary Poppins?" He asked sternly, "What is the meaning of this outrage?"

The nanny looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "I beg your pardon?"

"It would do some good for you to explain all of this."

Mary looked at George with a firm expression, "I would like to make one thing quite clear."

"Yes?"

"I never explain anything."

George was nearly baffled, but that summed up the mystery surrounding Mary Poppins, especially if she never explained anything. She was just sending the two upstairs again when George recalled another detail, an important matter to discuss, with Michael and Jane about today...

"We're not finished yet."

Michael and Jane stopped, turning to see the furious look on their father's face.

"Come here, in the living room, now..." He said coldly.

The siblings looked at each other, they knew what was going on. Mary Poppins nodded; she knew too. Trouble was brewing.

In the living room, Bert was busy sweeping the chimney when George entered with Michael and Jane, the chimney sweep noticed and took leave, but he would be back soon... once the young bank officer was finished having a word with the youth.

"Sit. Down." He told them.

Michael gulped.

"NOW!"

"Y-Yes, father." Michael said nervously.

"You too, Jane."

Jane sat down as well, her blood running cold and her knees shaking. She nervously glanced at Michael, her brother glanced at her as well, then the children's eyes focused back on their angry father, both of them ready to face what was about to happen.

"Now..." George said, "I am going to make this very clear that what happened today was unacceptable and I am not thrilled."

"But, father, we d..." Michael started.

"YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK!"

Michael fell silent.

"What went down, what happened at the bank, was unacceptable. It is inexcusable. I said on the way that the bank was a quiet and decorous place and that you had to be on your best behavior. Your behavior there, in regards to the chaos you caused, was not just. You did not behave accordingly, I showed you what you can do with your tuppence, but you responded very inappropriately."

"But we didn't mean for..."

"YOU STARTED A RUN ON THE BANK AND SET YOUR FOOT OUT OF LINE, MICHAEL BANKS! YOU AND YOUR SISTER!" George raised his voice angrily, "THIS CANNOT BE IGNORED, YOUNG LAD! YOU ARE NOT GETTING OFF, EVEN IF YOU THINK YOUR NONSENSE ADVENTURES WITH MARY POPPINS LIKE THAT SWEEPING HULLABALOO WILL BE YOUR ESCAPE FROM THIS SERIOUSNESS!"

"I said..."

"WHERE'S YOUR TUPPENCE, YOUNG MAN? I WANTED YOU TO INVEST IT, YOU LISTENED TO THAT WOMAN FILL YOUR HEAD WITH THROWING IT AWAY TO SOME BIRD WOMAN! DID YOU GIVE IT TO THE BIRD WOMAN, DO NOT LIE TO ME, YOU ARE GOING TO FACE THE SERIOUSNESS OF YOUR ACTIONS AND WE ARE NOT DISMISSING THIS! DO YOU HEAR ME?"

Michael's face was pale, he was trembling, seeing how angry his father was. George grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt and pulled him up close, Michael gulped and Jane became terrified.

"DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR? YOU ARE IN SO MUCH BLOODY TROUBLE AFTER TODAY, I WILL HAVE NONE OF THIS WITH YOUR MARY POPPINS-Y ADVENTURES LEADING TO YOU SETTING FOOT OUTSIDE OF LINE AND ACTING LIKE A LITTLE BRAT! ITS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT WE LOST SEVERAL NANNIES, YOU AND JANE! AND YOU GAVE YOUR TUPPENCE TO THE BIRD WOMAN, DIDN'T YOU?"

"Well, we..."

"YOU GAVE IT TO HER; YOU FED THE BIRDS! YOU DISRUPTED THE PEACE OF THE BANK, FOUGHT ME AND MISTER DAWES AND THEN YOU GAVE THAT TUPPENCE TO THE BIRD WOMAN!"

"No, we did not give our..."

"ENOUGH!" George slapped Michael across the face, "YOU. AND JANE. UP TO YOUR ROOM. NOW! WE WILL DISCUSS YOUR ACTIONS FURTHER TOMORROW AND THERE WILL BE MASSIVE CONSEQUENCES FOR YOUR ACTIONS! IS THAT CLEAR? GO TO YOUR ROOM! NOW!"

"Yes, Father."

"AND NOT ANOTHER WORD OUT OF BOTH OF YOU, IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?"

Michael and Jane stood and headed upstairs to the bedroom, following Mary Poppins. George was shaking with fury, he stood by his word. However, before he could yell out anything else, the telephone rang and the situation shifted...
