Mission Control Log #001

Orbital Space Rig 4 has arrived at Hoxxes IV. Maintenance tells me that systems are barely green across the board after the spatial jump. The half baked excuse for a nav computer took us too close to the local star Creus. Moving too fast too close to its gravitational well lead to half the onboard sensors being damaged and costing us one and a half drop pods as a "Welcome to the star system!" greeting.

I say it cost us one and a half drop pods, because Drop Pod 2 is gone, straight up not there. 200 tons of machinery, drills, and supplies missing from its holding pen. Ripped out of the station to be burnt up by the harsh blue flames of Creus. I can still see it tumbling further and further away, spilling out supplies and parts as it drifts off into the distance. I think I had my favourite shirt packed in there.

As for Drop Pod 1, well, Drop Pod 1 has to be completely rewired and cleaned. Some idiot thought it would be a good idea to put their supply of oil and beer barrels into the drop pod instead of the secure hold. Judging from the distressed looks on the dwarfs from Bravo and Charlie team, I'd say that they're realising that their monthly quota of beer is no longer in the barrels, but all over the floor (and walls, and ceiling) happily mixing with the equally spilled oil. Heaven knows how it ended up coating the outside as well.

Maybe they'll take the missions seriously if they do it sober. Unlikely though. Dwarfs will be dwarfs no matter where they go or what they do. Which reminds me, I'll have to assign double shifts of cooks and cleaners or we won't have a Space Rig by the end of this deployment. Horrible to look after, but you can't deny that they get results when you need something done. Especially when it comes to working underground. And mining. And fighting.

The supplies that survived are currently being unpacked and sorted by Alpha and Delta teams (who still have their monthly quotas of beer). Bravo and Charlie on the other hand are attempting to salvage what's left of their alcohol. Most of the recon and personnel equipment is still fortunately intact, so we shouldn't be set back all too much in our planned schedule.

Once maintenance sorts out Drop Pod 1, we'll be able to start the mission drops and make progress on our prospecting. The higher ups want key deposits identified and located by the end of next month so mining and engineering teams can be deployed.

Management has been notified of Drop Pod 2's loss and the loss of its contents.

Management Comment

A replacement drop pod and supplies have been dispatched and will arrive shortly. The cost of the replacement drop pod and supplies will be taken out of the personnel of Orbital Space Rig 4 until paid off. Please note that monthly quotas of beer are not considered to be essential supplies by the Deep Rock Galactic corporation.

Personnel are welcome to purchase additional supplies at their own cost through our company store. Delivery fees not included.
