I watched too much of a Logan/Jean tribute video titled 'Logan & Jean | Broken' by 'DannyVids', and so decided to write this short little one-shot.

"So, this is what it feels like."

Those were his last words, and then he was gone. Yukio had been right after all. He died with his heart in his hands, just not the heart anyone, including him, had thought about.

But, how was he thinking all this when he was gone? In that moment, his eyes opened as he found himself in a place filled with bright light, a white room of sorts, one where he had been before too.

However, he did not know if it was real, or just hallucinations born out of guilt. Now though, it seemed it truly was real.

Logan felt something next to him, and turned to see Jean lying there, smiling at him.

"Jean….." he whispered, reaching out to caress her face, tears in his eyes. "Jean….."

"Hey Logan", she greeted him, leaning in and kissing his forehead.

"I never thought I'd see you again", Logan admitted, as she reached out with her own hand, caressing his face as well.

"It is time for you to rest now, Logan", Jean assured him, now holding his face with both of her hands. "Your fight is over, the children will reach Eden. You, you have earned your peace, with all of us."

Logan did not say anything, but Jean told him. "Yes, you have earned it, do not doubt that."

"Oh Jean…" he whispered, sighing sadly. "I never thought all of this was…..real, I thought it was just made up, in my head."

"No, it wasn't, and I forgave you long ago, what you did was needed", she said, before leaning in and kissing him on the lips. Logan was caught off-guard, but he returned her kiss happily, now feeling better about this, and realizing he truly was here, in his afterlife.

They parted, smiling at each other, before Jean told him. "Let's go see the others."

"…..Yeah."

After years of pain, wars and suffering, Logan finally had found his peace.

While the whole love triangle was pretty dysfunctional, I still liked Logan/Jean personally, their chemistry and passion was shown very well in the scenes they shared, and they had a good dynamic.

Nothing against Scott, but I didn't really feel much of a desire to root for Scott/Jean, unlike with Logan/Jean.

Regarding the timelines, I basically have the headcanon that starting from the post-credits scene of 'The Wolverine', the timeline has diverged, sort of, to keep DOFP and Logan in 2 separate timelines.

So there's one original timeline where Origins: Wolverine, the Trilogy, The Wolverine (except the post-credits scene) and Logan are the only canon movies, and since Charles was shown coming back in The Last Stand's post-credits scene itself, not an issue at all. In this timeline, things went wrong a lot, so Logan being a sad and depressing ending to it all is fitting.

While there's another timeline, where First Class, Origins: Wolverine, The Trilogy, The Wolverine (including the post-credits scene) are all canon, followed by DOFP, and it's a new, happier timeline than this one.

Yep, gonna disagree with James Mangold on this one.

Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with some other update.
