A Sister (Not) More Like Me
Summary: JoJo's acting like her old self again and this time as their second sleepover in her room winds down, Nancy doesn't mind. Post Copycat JoJo.
Normally the constant squeaking of Mr. Monkey and JoJo's boisterous nature would be the vein of her existence or a nuisance which was a fancy word that meant utter annoyance but this time Nancy didn't mind.
The last hour of their second sleepover had been winding down. In between JoJo's screeching and Nancy coming close to using the boa to separate them again, the two sisters had fun playing games and made up a song about themselves being at a sister sleepover.
Nancy had even did her sister's hair in piraty braids, earning her a hug in return.
Bedtime was fast approaching, leaving JoJo to use the bathroom while Nancy was left alone in her thoughts.
Perhaps she should've been more specific when she requested JoJo to be more like her though how her sister managed to get her everyday attire in her size was quite impressive.
"I wish I never had a little sister!"
Those words stung Nancy like the pain she felt after getting a shot through her arm only much worse.
She hadn't meant those words. She was just frustrated with JoJo copying her.
"I just wanna be like you because you're my big sister."
JoJo looked up to her like Nancy looked up to Mrs. Devine.
Sure they never got along, most sisters never do, but they still loved each other and Nancy wouldn't trade JoJo for anything else in the world.
"Nancy?"
JoJo walked over to her side of Nancy's bed and climbed onto it, crawling into the covers in an attempt to make herself comfortable.
"Qu'est-ce que c'est?" Nancy wondered, gathering Marabelle in her arms.
"Am I still one of a kind?" JoJo wondered. She put Mr. Monkey to the side as she gazed at her sister with an expression of uncertainty. "Because I didn't mean to make you upset today. I was just playing and Mommy said I was only copying you because I look up to you."
"Oh JoJo. Of course you're still unique!"
"Really?"
"Certainement," Nancy replied, yawning as she did so. "I admit sometimes you get on my nerves and do things I don't like but I still love you because you're my little sister and nobody dans le monde could ever replace you."
"Thanks Nancy. I may not like the big or French words you use sometimes because I can't understand them but you're my big sister so I'll keep you around," JoJo yawned, turning to her side and pulling Mr. Monkey close to her. "Night-night Nancy. See you tomorrow."
Hearing nothing but her sister's snores, something she would've groaned about the previous night, Nancy reached over and turned off her bedside lamp.
She turned to her side, a hand tightly gripping Marabelle as she closed her eyes.
"Bonne nuit JoJo. Faites de beaux rĂªves. "That's French for 'sweet dreams'."
As Nancy laid her head restlessly on her pillow, she realized that after tomorrow once JoJo's bedroom window was able to shut, the sleepovers the sisters shared would be over.
While the realization left her feeling devastated, she knew JoJo would only be a few doors down the hall.
And if she wanted another sleepover in the future, the seven year old wouldn't mind one bit.
While it was true she and JoJo were complete opposites personality and maturity wise, they were still sisters and nothing would ever change that in Nancy's mind as she won her battle of restless sleep and ventured into dreamland which involved the two of them and fanciness combined with Paris and pirate ships so they both could be happy in their own way.
