Chapter 1: Celebrating Orihime Inoue's Birthday
Orihime was still at work as she sighed. She had received many text messages from her friends to wish her a 'happy birthday,' but she was mostly worried that her birthday won't be perfect since her boyfriend Ulquiorra, was out of town for 2 weeks and won't be home till either tonight or Sunday morning. Orihime was worried that he wouldn't make it home in time to celebrate her birthday.
"Hey, Orihime. What's up?" Riruka said to her friend as she noticed that her bouncy happy cheerful personality wasn't there.
Oh, it's just that, my boyfriend is out of town and I'm worried that he won't be home till Sunday morning. But it's fine I guess." Orihime said as she sighed.
Riruka gasped and hugged Orihime, "Why's he out of town, sweet heart?" Riruka asked her friend.
"Business work. But it's private so I can't really say much. I've been sleeping over at his friend's place because I feel so lonely when I sleep alone in my bed. Not even my plushies are helping me." Orihime said as she sighed sadly. Not having a good birthday.
Riruka sighed, she has never been in a relationship but wants to cheer her bestie up, "If it is not too much of a hassle, do you wanna come over to my place? You can stay there as long as you want till he texts you he's back home early." Riruka asked her as she smiled.
"My shift is about to end in another ten minutes. So lemme go change then, we can head over to your place." Orihime said as she smiled a bit at her friend.
Riruka winked at her as she watched her friend leave her spot and texted her friends.
"Hey loves, get ready. I'm bringing Orihime over so we can help celebrate her birthday today." Riruka texted them.
"Alright. Good idea. We'll surprise her too.~" Jackie texted her as she got up to get the present.
Then Riruka waited for Orihime as her shift was about to end. She then left her post as she headed to the restroom. When she walked in she gasped, seeing someone with red hair.
"Hey, do I know you…?" Riruka asked the redhead girl.
Alice looked at her as she smiled. "Hey! Riruka. I'm Alice Akiko." Alice introduced herself.
"Oh? Well I'm Riruka Dokugamine." Riruka said as she put her hand on her chest.
Alice giggled, "I may have seen you at Izaya's and Keigo's wedding. You looked so pretty in that hot pink dress you wore. It totally fits your aesthetics." Alice told her as she smiled.
Riruka looked at Alice as she blushed. "I….thank you…I thought it was too much because it was really long and poofy but it was on sale and I had to get it. But thank you." Riruka said as she looked away.
"Anyways enough about me, have you seen my friend, Orihime? I invited her to my house so I can give her something." Riruka asked Alice.
"Oh! I just saw her walking to the makeup shop." Alice said as she smiled.
Riruka groaned, "Now I have to go fetch her. Wanna come with me?" Riruka asked Alice.
"Of course! Just let me-" Alice got close to the mirror as she fixed her eyeliner and it was in perfect shape. She then put the eyeliner in her bag as she walked out with Riruka.
"Oh? I see your shop is closed?" Alice asked her as she saw the 'closed' sign.
"Yeah, every store is about to close for this mall so- oh there she is." Riruka said as she saw Orihime walking out with Loly, Menoly, Cirucci, Nel, Ying, Yang, & Luppi. All of them were by her side, giggling, holding her hand, and stroking her hair.
"You're so pretty birthday girl.~ Come over to our place we have something for you.~" Luppi said to her as he grinned.
"I would love to, but- oh dear. H-Hang on loves." Orihime said as she got out of their grip and headed to Riruka and Alice.
"Hey birthday girl, so who's house are you going to?" Riruka asked her as she looked at Loly.
"You can go to theirs first. Then come to ours." Loly said to her as she smiled.
"Cool. Thanks guys." Let's go peeps." Riruka said as she held onto Alice's & Orihime's hands as they walked out of the mall before closing time.
"Wow! Orihime, you sure do have a lot of friends here in the world of the living." Alice said to her as she giggled.
"I've become popular all of a sudden." Orihime told her as she giggled. "But I'm sure you're popular in soul society, right? Along with Ichigo and Izaya, right?" Orihime asked Alice.
"Oooh, I'm not sure about that.~ Hehe." Alice giggled.
Then they arrived at Riruka's house. She rang the doorbell. Jackie answered. She gasped when she saw Orihime and hugged her.
"Orange Pie~! Happy birthday~!" Jackie said as she hugged Orihime.
Orihime smiled as she hugged Jackie back. Alice looked at Riruka.
"'Orange Pie'?" Alice said to Riruka.
"She's been giving out nicknames to Ichigo's friends lately. So be prepared for what she has for you." Riruka told her as she giggled.
Jackie then looked at Alice, "Have I met you before?" Jackie asked her.
"No you haven't. I'm Alice Akiko. I'm a soul reaper of squad six. But I have heard of you.~" Alice said to Jackie.
"Oh? Come on inside, loves. It's a little chilly out here." Jackie said as she stopped hugging Orihime and they all walked inside.
"Who did she fight again?" Riruka whispered to Alice.
"My friend, Renji Abarai. And you fought my other friend Rukia Kuchiki." Alice whispered back to Riruka.
"Too easy.~ She loves cute shit as much as I do." Riruka told Alice as she giggled.
When they all walked in, Ginjo turned on the light as they all wished Orihime a 'happy birthday.' Orihime gasped seeing everyone, including Ichigo, Chad, & Uryu. She walked up to them and hugged them all.
"Oh my gosh! You guys are here~!" Orihime told them as she wiped her tears away.
"Hey now, you're our best friend. You deserve this." Ichigo said to her as he lifted her chin.
"Yeah, work may be kicking our ass a lot but we still made time to celebrate your birthday, Orihime." Uryu said to her as he smiled.
"Yeah. Sorry I haven't texted you all day. Like Uryu said, 'work is kicking our asses a lot.'" Chad told her as he smiled.
"Well thank you. I'm sorry, I'm so emotional but I'm pulling it through." Orihime told her friends.
"No need to apologize, Orihime. You're just happy and that's valid." Uryu told her as he smiled.
Orihime smiled also as she turned around, seeing three presents, a card, and a cupcake in front of her.
Jackie then counted as everyone singed, 'happy birthday' to Orihime. Orihime gasped and blushed as she cried silently. Letting her tears fall as she looked at everyone who smiled at her. When they were done, Orihime closed her eyes for 3 seconds and opened them as she blew out the candle on the cupcake.
Everyone clapped as Orihime accepted the gifts. "Thank you so much, everyone. I really appreciate this. Really."
"You're welcome, also I hope you don't mind that we actually kidnapped your friends when they got off work.~" Ginjo said as he grinned.
"You're not funny, dude." Yukio said as he sipped his soda.
Orihime giggled, "No biggie. I haven't seen them in a while. So this is a really great surprise." Orihime said as she smiled at them.
Then Jackie turned to Alice, "So which friend did I fight?" Jackie asked her.
"Renji Abarai. Ring a bell? He's a tall man, with red hair, wears a maroon bandana, a black robe, and has tattoos on his eyebrows, neck, chest, and arms." Alice described Renji smiling at Jackie.
"Ooooh yeah! He's a pretty strong man.~ Is he your boyfriend~?" Jackie asked as she grinned.
Alice laughed as she drank some soda. "He's just a friend."
Then Ichigo received a text from Rukia from the soul society he looked at Uryu & Chad and nodded at them.
"Welp, we would stay here a little longer but we gotta go now. Orihime, we'll text you when we get home." Ichigo said as he faked yawned.
"Oh okay! Thanks for coming to this house you guys even though it's not mine and Ulquiorra's specifically….." Orihime said a little sadly.
Now everyone was concerned that her tone changed. Alice walked up to her.
"Is something going on with you two?" Alice asked her.
Orihime noticed that everyone got concerned for her, she gasped as she shook her head.
"Ah, no no no no no! We're doing just fine really! He's just out of town and I've been sleeping over at his friends house more often. I just miss him, that's all!" Orihime said as she fake smile.
Everyone grew a little suspicious but they only nodded.
"Right. Well let me know if he has come back home. I know you hate feeling lonely. I'll text you." Ichigo said as he smiled at her.
Orihime smiled at Ichigo. "See you later, Ichigo, Uryu, and Chad!"
"Welp, see you guys later. Goodnight." Ichigo said as he, Chad, & Uryu walked off as they closed the door behind him.
"You do realize he's with his old team back in Hueco Mundo right, Ichigo?" Uyru told him.
"Yes, but I can't just tell her that he'll be back later or else she'll be begging to come to the soul society. Besides, she'll see him there.~" Ichigo said as he grinned.
"Whatever. Just open the gates already." Uryu said as he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah yeah, I'm opening up the gates right now." Ichigo said as he got it working.
Alice & Orihime stayed there for another five minutes as they got done eating their cupcakes as they smiled at each other.
"How was work for you, Alice?" Orihime asked her.
"It was exhausting. So many people came in to buy crystals and they asked me so many questions. I had to repeat all of them too over and over again." Alice said as she groaned, rubbing her forehead.
"Alice, let's get you home so you can relax." Orihime said as she stood up, helping Alice up.
"Thanks guys, really we gotta go now. I forgot I had to go to one more house." Orihime said as she had received a text from Loly.
"Right. Well we'll see you tomorrow, Orange Pie, and you, Red Star, come back and visit us sometimes." Jackie said as she winked at Alice.
"'Red Star'? How am I-" Alice then realized her dress had many tiny stars on it and her necklace was a giant pentagram star necklace. She looked up and blushed.
"Thanks! I'll definitely come back here then." Alice told them as Orihime waved at them and they all walked out.
"Loly texted me that I have to go to her house real quick. Maybe they got something for me." Orihime told Alice.
Alice tried to text Renji as she ran behind Orihime as she almost bumped into something. She gasped when she looked up and felt the air. Alice began to have a weird feeling about this.
"Alice, come on. Their house isn't too far from here." Orihime said as she panted.
"Orihime wait, you're exhausted and tired. Let me take you home so they can come over instead." Alice told her in concern as she panted.
Then the ground shook as they heard a loud roar. The two girls looked up as 3 hollows came out of nowhere. They screamed in terror. Alice tried to get out of her gigai but Orihime accidently pushed her to save her and used her power to protect them.
"We need help!" Orihime screamed out.
Alice then tried calling for help but one of the hollows whacked her phone as it fell down and broke. Alice gasped and glared at the hollow. Then Orihime grabbed onto her wrist as they ran somewhere to hide. Alice followed her trying to send out some signals. The two hid as they waited till the hollows left.
"Can you get out of your gigai?" Orihime asked Alice as she panted.
"Yes. Hold On." Alice said as she got to work.
Orihime looked up as she hid again as one of the hollow saw her. She closed her eyes and saw Alice out of her gigai and in the air fighting one of the hollows who broke her phone.
"You dumbasses owe me a new damn phone! Now, ring! Sangosuzu!" Alice activated her Zanpakuto as it aimed for the hollow that destroyed her phone. The hollow screamed as it disappeared.
Orihime cheered for her as she hid again and called for help. Alice then looked back and used her Zanpakuto to aim for the second hollow. The hollow dodged as it went after Alice. Alice gasped and jumped up into the air and aimed it on its back and slashed it. The hollow screamed as it disappeared.
"Two down, one more to go. Now show your-" Alice got whacked by the hollow as it hit her and she hit a tree as she fell down.
Orihime gasped as she screamed. "Alice!" Orihime then screamed again as the hollow grabbed her.
The hollow grinned as it opened its mouth. Orihime gasped as she screamed so loud. Then two slashes cut the hollow as it screamed in pain and disappeared. Orihime got out of its grip as Ichigo held onto her.
"Yo. We got your text and came here as soon as possible." Ichigo said as he smiled at her.
Orihime gasped as she held onto Ichigo as she cried. Renji then went to Alice and rubbed her back.
"Hey Red, are you okay?" Renji asked her.
Alice groaned as she slowly opened her eyes and looked up, "Renji. You made it. I defeated two but the other just swatted me away like a bee."
Renji chuckled, "Yeah, they can be a pain in the ass to us. Anyways, I'll get you a new phone." Renji said as he helped Alice up.
Ichigo walked up to them as he smiled, "Hey, I'm going to take Orihime home. She's extremely tired and had a long day."
"Poor girl. What about the party?" Renji whispered into Ichigo's ear.
"You do realize we have plenty of time for that, right? I'll catch y'all up at the soul society and I'll bring her over." Ichigo said to Renji as he smiled.
Renji slapped his face as he laughed, "Duh. I'm a dumbass. It's literally been a long day. Alright you do that. I'll take Alice back home so she can get her injuries treated." Renji told his friend.
Ichigo smiled and nodded as they gave each other fistbumps and they walked off. Renji opened the gate as Alice held onto Renji.
"So, are we still having a party for her?" Alice asked her friend.
"Of course. We actually got it all set up and her boyfriend should return tonight along with Aizen and Gin, of course." Renji said to Alice.
"Wait, where did they go?" Alice asked him as she tilted her head.
"Hueco Mundo. Like just checking it out and stuff." Renji explained to her.
Alice nodded as she was a little hurt to say anything. She passed out in Renji's arms as Renji smiled and walked inside the gate. Ichigo unlocked his door as he saw that Yuzu and Karin were in the living room, watching TV.
"Hey, so my friend passed out, mind keeping an eye on her for two hours ? I'll come by to get her." Ichigo asked his sisters.
"Sure! But aren't you supposed to be with Grimmjow?" Yuzu asked her big brother.
"Yeah. She and Alice got attacked by some hollows. So we came by to help them." Ichigo explained to Yuzu & Karin.
"Oh no that's terrible! I'll give her some water right away." Yuzu said happily.
Karin gave her siblings a smile as Ichigo smiled back at them and headed to his old room and laid Orihime down. He sighed as he put a warm towel on her forehead.
"I hope your birthday will be a lot better when you wake up, Orihime." Ichigo said as he put a blanket on her.
Then Yuzu knocked on his door as Ichigo answered it. "Thanks Yuzu. She's sleeping right now but I'll make sure she'll drink some water." Ichigo told her.
"Yay. Also, isn't her birthday today? If so, I wanna bake her a cake!" Yuzu said happily.
Ichigo chuckled, "Go for it. I'm sure she'll love that.~ Anyways I gotta go. Text me if she had woken up." Ichigo said as she hugged Yuzu and headed downstairs.
Yuzu smiled as she followed her brother and waved at him. Karin did the same as Ichigo walked out and headed to his place with Grimmjow, Keigo, and Izaya.
A few hours later, Orihime had woken up as she yawned and headed downstairs. She didn't even notice that she was at her best friend's house as Karin walked up to her and held her hand.
"Hey, birthday girl. Can you open your eyes?" Karin said to Orihime.
Orihime yawned as she did so and gasped, "Wait? I'm not at my house?" Orihime asked as she tilted her head.
"No.~ You're at our house. And we made you some cupcakes. Happy birthday, Orihime~!" The twins said very happily.
Orihime smiled as she hugged them, "Thank you girls so much.~ And the cupcakes look so good. Shall we?" Orihime asked as she took one.
"For Orihime!~!" The twins said as they ate their cupcakes and happily smiled.
Then Karin texted Ichigo to let him know that Orihime is awake. Ichigo gave his friends the signal as they nodded and opened the gate and headed to the soul society. Then Ichgio walked off to his old house to get Orihime.
"So, anything new with you girls?" Orihime asked them as she wiped her mouth.
"I have another soccer tournament in two weeks. I've been practicing with my friends so we can win." Karin said happily.
Orihime smiled at her and looked at Yuzu.
"I'm in baking classes! So I've been baking many desserts and Karin and dad really loves them!" Yuzu said happily.
Orihime giggled at them, "You girls are growing up so fast. I just remembered when you two were just so tiny and small. Do you have a boyfriend yet?" Orihime asked them as she giggled.
Both Yuzu & Karin gave her an awkward smile as the doorbell rang. Karin answered it as she smiled.
"Hey! Come on in." Karin told Ichigo.
"Yo. Birthday girl!" Ichigo said happily to Orihime.
Orihime gasped as she walked up to him. "Hey. Sorry about earlier."
"No need to apologize, but I do have a better surprise for you. So mind coming with me?" Ichigo said as he held out his hand.
Orihime smiled as she held it and the two walked out. Ichigo waved at his sisters as they left. As the two walked, they saw three figures walking up towards them.
"Hey girlie~! You didn't come by after work." A voice said as she walked up to Orihime.
"Ah. I'm sorry Loly. Today's been a long day. Can I come by tomorrow?" Orihime asked them.
"No need girlie, we understand you had a long day, so here." Luppi smiled as he handed her a card and a gift bag.
Orihime gasped as she smiled at them, she took them as Ichigo helped open the card and Orihime opened the present. It was a vintage notebook with a vintage girl on the front and some really cute pens with sparkle gel pens.
Orihime gasped as she smiled and hugged Loly, Menoly, & Luppi.
"Thank you guys so much! This is so cute~!" Orihime said happily as she smiled.
"You're welcome, birthday girl.~ We hope you like the card too." Menoly said as she smiled at her.
Orihime read it as she nodded at her friends. "I love it. Thank you so much."
The three smiled and hugged her once more as Orihime and Ichigo walked off.
"Want me to hold on for those for you till you get back?" Ichigo asked her.
"Of course! Are we going- oh." Orihime noticed that they've arrived at his house.
Ichigo smiled as he took them and unlocked the door as he put the gift on the couch and then closed and locked the door again. Then he opened the gate to head to the soul society.
"Ready? Hey, what's wrong?" Ichigo asked his friend.
"Is there trouble again? Did someone get injured?" Orihime asked him in concern.
"Nope. This is better. I promise and we have a special guest for you." Ichigo said as they both walked inside.
Ichigo gave Izaya a signal as Izaya smiled and got by the door giving everyone else the signal too. Everyone hid.
When Ichigo & Orihime walked in, Izaya held the door open as they both walked in. Orihime gasped seeing the decorations. Then everyone jumped up and shouted: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ORIHIME!"
Orihine gasped as she waved at everyone, "Thank you! Thank you all so much!" Orihime said as she cried.
"Hey sweetie, we have another surprise for you." Rukia said as she walked up to her bestie.
Orihime wiped her tears away as Rukia stepped aside, then she saw Aizen & Gin as they also stepped aside as a tall man with black hair was behind them. He was wearing a black tuxedo as his eyes didn't have any green makeup running down his face. He barely cracked a smile as he saw his girl. He held out two black roses to her.
"Hello, my love. Happy birthday." Ulquiorra said to her.
Orihime gasped as she ran up to him and hugged him around his neck and kissed his cheeks.
"Baby~! You came, you came~! I was so worried. I had a long day, and I got attacked by a hollow, and and-" Orihime got interrupted by his kiss on the lips.
Everyone gasped as Orihime blushed as Ulquiorra pulled back.
"My love, let's worry about celebrating your party. I wish to dance with you." Ulquiorra said to his lover as he held onto her lower back, her right hand and they swirled into the moonlight.
They danced, not caring if everyone saw or ate some food as Orihime was star struck into her lover's eyes. Ulquiorra stroked her cheek and brushed some of her hair out of her face, and gave her a soft smile.
Orihime gasped as she made sure she had only seen him smile.
"You finally smiled, love. I wanna see more of that for my birthday.~" Orihime whispered to him.
"Alright. I'll keep trying. I love you, my sweet pie. Happy birthday." Ulquiorra said as he kissed her some more on the lips.
Orihime giggled and kissed him back.
"Thank you, my love." Orihime said as she & Ulquiorra danced throughout the night.
