As Mai went to sleep, a memory of herself during high school emerged. Filled with something not akin to undiagnosed, indeterminable depression, she had gone to school, had finished homework, had survived middle school to high school.
Just like that, she had had a terrifying thought, to let the Mai-of-the-past know of the future she could look forward to. And before she knew it, she had woken up in the past. It hadn't been a surprise to find herself back in the past, to find her phone displaying a different date than expected. However, it had been alarming to realise she had no clue how to get back.
Whilst she could just stay in this time and live out her high school life again, she could honestly say she didn't want to spend too long apart from Naru. Let alone that he wouldn't remember her anymore. That their relationship could change depending on how things went. That she probably wouldn't ruin that camera again because of how expensive she knew it was. That they wouldn't have exactly the same experiences as what she remembered. Their cases would be different, considering she already knew the ending. So many things would change.
Yet regardless of all that, she supposed for now, all she could do was live this day, hoping to return to her normal time by tomorrow. Surely, even if she didn't know, Naru could figure out a way. And no matter how long it took, even if it never returned her to her correct time again, she was willing to wait, because she knew she would see him again.
