A/N: Hello there, it is I, UnLovedOreos! I have returned to gift this platform with a new chapter. The first chapter was only a test to see if an AI could produce a story of it's own. Because of that, I made it short on purpose. However, since it seems to have worked out, and also because I want to see how far I can push this, I've decided to make this chapter a bit longer!
I've made a few changes to the AI and tinkered a bit. The AI has a really hard time understanding Return By Death. Like, it can't grasp the concept. Also, the AI has a weird fascination with wanting to transport Subaru back to reality. And we can't have that, now can we? I also tried to fix some of the grammar used in this chapter. However, I only did this if the sentence in question seemed unreadable to me. With that in mind, I want to raise a question to you, the reader! Do you think I should manually edit the grammar and fix it completely chapter by chapter? Or do you think I should just let the AI write on its own and not fix anything? Please do tell me, I'm quite curious.
Anyway, it's the same as last time. Bolded sentences I've written personally myself! And anything bolded, and also in italics are my author notes!
Running fast enough to kick up dirt behind him, his eyes scanned the best possible route to reach his destination faster. If he remembered correctly, entering the alleyway proved to be the most preferred way and that's exactly where he turned into.
Sprinting down the corridor, Natsuki abruptly stopped himself. Blocking his path, were three muggers. The same muggers who'd attempted to rob him in his past life. "Out of my way!" Subaru shouted, trying to walk past them.
The skinny one, however, grabbed Subaru and pushed him against a wall. "Hold on! Empty your pockets, we're robbing you!"
Tsk, again? Seemed like this loop was going to play out the same way as last time. Through gritted teeth, Subaru spoke. "Again? This whole thing isn't new to me. There is nothing that you or anyone else could steal from me. You might think this act works on others, but unfortunately for you all, I don't have anything."
Subaru proceeded to walk past them, only for the very small mugger to dart up and kick Subaru's crotch making him scream and fall forward towards the ground face first. He was pinned to the pavement like an apple, the muggers leaned down and laughed viciously at his sad state.
Subaru couldn't believe it. He was still being mugged, again? By the three very terrible people with too much free time, that seemed to be the case. But, there wasn't a bigger issue here.
If he stayed here he wouldn't have time to go and kill Elsa like she deserved that bitch, yes.
The little punk sneered. "Hehe," He chortled and poked at Subaru's cheek. "Get up!"
Crying bloodlust, Subaru used his anger to burn away his pain and threw a few jabs at the boy's stomach. The young punk retaliated easily and took down some of his punches while leaving some for him to land awkwardly upon. In total, the fight lasted less than five minutes before the muggers quit and left.
Spitting blood, Subaru groaned. "God dammit. Fine. Go, you shitheads! I am done with you all and this goddamn copious amount of bullshit. You had your fun. But next time, bring your friends with you! I will seriously fuck them!"
With the threat in order, Subaru got him and dusted himself off. He needed to get to the bar, as quickly as he could.
Subaru got lost, however. Maybe it was due to his head trauma or a misplaced exit but wherever he ended up wasn't the way he intended.
"Damnit," Subaru glared at the town sign.
His surroundings soon changed the longer he walked. He didn't know where he was but was certainly in Lagunica. Not the bar, but he wanted to be there. Now. For reasons, unknown. None of it mattered as far as Natsuki Subaru was concerned though. His entire plan and purpose involved reaching that exact location, the bar in question had failed.
Day turned to night, and Subaru eventually found the bar.
Opening the door, Subaru looked around. "Empty." He mouthed, limping inside. "Shouldn't it be crowded?" he thought sarcastically, if that was indeed true then something had happened to call this place empty.
Natsuki began to investigate the surroundings. Broken furniture dotted each corner of the area. Some drink cans littered on the tables for whoever bothered. Subaru saw in the corner of the room two girls. The girls sat by themselves, staring vacantly into their glasses
Seeing someone, Subaru ran over as quickly as he could. "People! Hello? I'm Sumbra Naotosuki. It is me…" He screeched.
The girls didn't look up.
"Girls!" Subaru shouted, holding out his hand and beckoning them. "It's me! A human! From Earth."
They didn't respond, and Subaru raised his hand on her shoulder. The woman was cold. "Oh my god. It can't be." He said, with furrowing eyebrows, and touched her arm. "Hello? What is wrong? Why aren't you moving?"
Sighing, he moved her face. Her eyes were vacant. Hollowed. Black. One was half open, the pupil clouded out completely, the iris shrunken. She was dead; dry lips, cracked mouth, and throat, slightly glossed yellow teeth, and whitened skin. Blood everywhere.
Panicked, Subaru ran out of the bar, only to run into the muggers again. They all smirked. "You told us to bring our friends right?" One said.
Before Subaru could react, 4 more people armed with weapons walked behind the muggers. All holding weapons. Subaru was scared. "Am I going to die again?" He thought. However, amongst the crowd, one of the muggers; a female caught Subaru's attention.
Emilia. A girl he'd known from back on Earth. She looked rugged and terrified, armed to the teeth. A few scars sprinkled about her body too. "Emilia! Help! I'm Subaru Natsuki," he said without a pause.
Her eyes widened, "S-Subaru?! Wh-What are you doing here?" she spoke fast before looking at the rest of her crew. "Mates, this is Subaru, a human I'm friends with." All 3 thugs looked at Emilia to ask her anything else, but she ignored them all. Instead, she addressed Natsuki alone.
"Subaru, why have you angered my crew? Please, tell me what the hell is happening."
"Hmph, fine! Emilia, these men are criminals! Drug running and shit! They mugged me and fucked up my face!" As he talked, Natsuki came forward. "They are a danger to society!"
Emilia walked over and punched Subaru in the gut. "We might be friends, however…do not talk badly of my men. I will not tolerate it." She then picked up Subaru and brought him to her level.
He had so many questions to ask her, but before he could, a man flew out of the bar and onto the ground below. Emilia and Subaru, both scared turned to look and see who did it.
It was Elsa. Her eyes, were cold, just like Subaru. Her lips.
Elsa, the girl who killed him previously stood there. "What is this commotion coming from outside here?" She said. She then looked at the thugs. "The next one to move is dead. Did any of you see the bodies inside of this establishment?" She said.
Subaru sweated, and she saw it. "Ah…the boy there. You saw the bodies, didn't you? I cannot have that. Cannot indeed." She said, reading her weapon.
Emilia's eyes flickered and she looked to her men. "Quick! Protect Subaru!"
Elsa moved lightning fast, rushing everyone. One man, pushed Subaru out of the way, suffering a blow from Elsa. The man's body gave off a large explosion of fire. A goop was projected into his chest. More chunks appeared. He exploded.
Subaru rolled onto the ground, terrified. More men rushed Elsa, and she quickly ended their lives. Yet, that wasn't the end.
More explosions came, and Subaru began to cry. She killed each person. More, and more gorier than the last. Killing them at random, and exploding them from the inside. It wasn't enough though for her. She continued to move toward the boy.
Someone slammed into Elsa from behind, stunning her only for a moment. She turned to look at the man and punched him directly in the face causing another explosion.
She stopped long enough for everyone to rush the two, still being violent. So brutal. Only one man could fight back now. Elsa's eyes widened as someone managed to grab her around the neck.
And Subaru froze. It was Emilia.
"No, Emilia! Get away! Get away from her!" He shouted, but Emilia wouldn't listen. She tried to tear Elsa's head off, but still, it hadn't worked.
Elsa laughed and pulled Emilia off of her, grabbing the white-haired beauty by the throat. "You piece of shit. You think you can challenge me?"
Before Subaru could blink, Emilia exploded. Subaru screamed, and hoped for the best. No use at all.
Emilia dropped to the ground, dead, and crashed to the ground. "Emilia! N-No!" He yelled, scrambling up, towards his friend, and towards his enemy Elsa.
He tried to destroy her, but Elsa countered his punch and sent him flying backward, into a car. The impact of him hitting the car caused his bones to The impact of him hitting the car caused his bones to shatter and splinter. Bleeding internally more than he thought possible.
"AGUHHHHH!" He cried out, trying to hold his shattered ribs together. His shirt was soaked red with blood.
Elsa walked forward. "Explosion." Her words snagged her meaning through the screams of agony. "Brings death. Simple as that." She explained,
Subaru stared at her with empty eye sockets and dying brain cells. She kept walking closer. Subaru tried to cling to his life, but could not.
The last feeling he had was Elsa touching him, and his body being set ablaze with explosion energy.
Subaru opened his eyes. Again he had been brought back, yet again the morning sun hit his nose. Elsa's name would not leave his lips. And still, Emilia…
How could he be here, and alive? So many questions he wanted answered. How did she explode things? When had she left to go to this world? Why am I dying so often? None could answer these questions; not when he couldn't remember any of this whole crazy dream.
"Oh god." He muttered, sitting down somewhere. And worst of all, his ability. The ability to see beyond the realities of the dead. Where did his reality begin? Was this his ability? Would his death even matter? Or would his death bring everyone else to their ends? Because he didn't tie two times in a row. A stroke of good luck. Another victory for Natsuki Subaru in this world, of the world of world world.
He'd been so stressed out by his many bouts with thugs and such and demons, monsters, and Elsa, that he hadn't even considered what this newfound time travel ability was. "I die, but come back. Teleportation obviously. I must call this ability, 'Invisible Providence.' Each time I die, I return back to my original being. With this ability, I'm invincible!"
It was only then, that magical hands came from somewhere, and grabbed Natsuki hard. A voice called from the depths. "The name, you shall not call it what you want. 'Return By Death' is the power I have gifted you. Use it well traveler." The voice said, and on cue, the hands disappeared.
"I cannot call this ability what I want? Fine. It will stay as that for now. But I will change it soon."
The hands watched, one crying as Subaru ignored it and walked away. "Bye hands." The hands waved back. (A/N: That was genuinely the greatest thing the AI has created so far. That was incredible.)
"How do I stop Elsa? She is too powerful. She has explosion magic and can seduce anyone including me which quickly makes me lose my will to live. She's made it her goal to explode everyone and make them fall at her feet for some reason. She killed Emilia and even Kenma! But wait, Kenma ran after her, saying that Emilia was a sinner?! He ran to kill her because he is an abusive asshole who killed so many kids before he turned bad! No way would I let myself be taken (A/N: WHAT THE FUCK IS THE AI TALKING ABOUT?!)
It was obvious Elsa was unstoppable. Armed with explosion magic, she could basically attack anyone in front of her as long as they were within 30 feet of her. Her attacks were so powerful that none could stop her. She was the perfect warrior. A true hero for the ages. But that's where it all went wrong. This isn't some story, a fairytale. This was real. Real life.
She killed Emilia…Emilia…his best friend. His mind began to drift. He remembered how Emilia looked after they first met. A timid girl who had yet to fully embrace herself on Earth. It took a while, but eventually, in middle school, Emilia became different. She became brave. Always taking risks, always going against the odds, never backing down no matter what the odds may look like. Even as a child when everyone told her to stay quiet, she listened and kept moving forward. That's how Emilia was always. Brave, courageous, determined. Emilia was strong, and he was so proud of her.
Yet, she was in this same alternate universe as him. Why were they both brought here? Brought to a parallel world. Were they meant to meet? Had he somehow saved her? Subaru sighed, laying back. Everything was spinning. The pain…was overwhelming. What was going on?
Oh right, not just a minute ago had he exploded. And now he reversed time back. This ability…"Return By Death", and this was the result?
He didn't want to die. Who would? However, this power gave him a chance. And he'd need it. He'd use Return By Death to save Emilia.
But Elsa…she was, unstoppable. And she was not afraid of getting hurt or dying. She killed so many people before. She didn't even flinch nor seemed phased when she killed people. In fact, she even enjoyed every moment she got to kill and explode others. Subaru closed his eyes.
"…Why did they do that?" He whispered. Why? Why kill them in the first place? They didn't deserve to die. There must be something I can do! Someone I can help. Why can't this dream stop? Why is this happening?" Suddenly, he heard screaming. Screaming of terror from the other side of the street. He sat up, looking over to see what was going on.
A group of people were running away from the scene. Some were injured, and some were bleeding. All of them were scared.
Subaru stood up and ran over to the scene. It was the muggers. The muggers that were a part of Emilia's group. It seems they were trying to rob someone. The person they were robbing, was a young woman. She was holding onto her stomach as she struggled and groaned in agony. Tears flowed down the victim's cheeks. Blood stained her dress. Subaru felt anger fill up his chest, and without even thinking twice about it, his hand reached into his pocket and grasped tightly onto the gun he always carried.
He aimed the gun straight at them as they started approaching him, all ready to take advantage of his anger. He fired a blast at them. One of the muggers jumped to the right, dodging the blast. They ran away, laughing hysterically, still laughing, while leaving behind the dead girl.
"Fuck! I couldn't save her." I gotta use my ability. I need to save her. If not for me, then who? Subaru pointed the gun at himself, preparing to fire another shot. "Who should save her, then?" His mind was racing. The question was not directed toward anyone. Just himself.
His finger moved towards the trigger. "Should I…should I use my ability?" His finger twitched against the cold metal. And then, he fired. His head jerked back as he felt the force of the bullet pushing him back. He fell backward, hitting the sidewalk and landing painfully. He lay there, a bullet in his forehead. (A/N: This was some Greed If Subaru type shit, ngl)
Subaru opened his eyes. Yet again, Subaru had died and come back. It was like a cycle. Still, it was weird. A second ago he'd been alive. Now he wasn't. And now he was. He had no idea if the bullets could kill him. He was pretty sure it wouldn't matter either way though. He was back, and he knew what would happen.
He needed to be robbed, by those muggers. Or, the same muggers would kill the young girl. Subaru knew that. The only way to save her would be to get robbed first. So, off to the alleyway, he ran. And yet again, the robbers were there right on schedule. One small, one medium, and one massive man standing between him and the exit of the alleyway. The skinny one looked at Subaru and grinned. "Hey, you! Empty your pockets, we're robbing you!"
Subaru sighed, putting a hand on his hip. "Well, I don't seem to have any money on me right now. I'll have to ask around." He said, giggling. "You know, you guys really are awful muggers, especially since it's raining and the roads are filled with puddles everywhere."
The muggers seemed offended. "What? Are you saying we're bad muggers? Well, we aren't. We're professionals and we make sure nobody gets too much, okay? Besides, we only rob small ass shops. You think you can take on us? No, you can't. So hurry and give us your cash, or else we might have to shoot someone." The short, skinny mugger threatened, pointing his gun toward the ground.
Subaru chuckled. "Sorry, not gonna happen. You might wanna rethink this robbery strategy because I'm telling you guys…you won't get a dime from me."
That was a lie. Subaru was wealthy. He just hid his wealth in his room instead of spending it. For example, he had several hundred pounds of gold hidden under his mattress. Gold coins worth more than ten thousand dollars. He might've played video games all day but that was because he knew his father would disapprove. When he was little, his father used to threaten him that he would leave the house if he continued to play video games. Yet Subaru loved gaming as much as he loved video games. He never intended to stop playing. If anything, he wanted to continue doing so until the end of the world. To go back to those days of simplicity. Playing and training.
"Fuck you bitch! Calling me, a professional a bitch! I know you're hiding a lot of money somewhere in your pants." The fat mugger screamed, charging at Subaru. This time, Subaru wasn't prepared to dodge. In a flash, Subaru pushed past the fat guy and landed a kick to his face, sending him flying backward into the wall
"Listen, do you know Emilia? Emilia Larker? Well, she's my friend. If you fuck me, I'll tell her and you'll all regret it! So, I suggest you back down before things get messy." Subaru warned.
The three men laughed and cackled at this threat, pointing their guns in Subaru's direction. "I don't care what you say. You're not going anywhere. Now, you listen to me and give us your money. Otherwise, you'll never see your friends again." The small man spoke, walking toward him slowly.
BANG!
Subaru's eyes widened as he heard a bullet shot rang out. The three muggers fell back, covering their heads. Subaru turned around, seeing a girl standing at the end of the alley. Her long, white hair hung down, almost touching the ground, framing her face perfectly. Her black clothes covered her body well. Her skin was flawless and beautiful, and her eyes were piercing. Her lips were red as blood.
"What are you three all doing? Thought we were done here. Come on boys, let's go." The white haired girl smirked, turning around to leave. The three men walked out of the alleyway, and down the street.
"WAIT!" Subaru screamed, getting Emilia's attention, causing her to turn around. "Emilia, it's me. Natsuki Subaru!"
She stared at him for a moment. Then, she smiled. "Subaru!" She cried, rushing forward, and throwing herself at Subaru. He caught her, returning the hug as tight as he could. After a few seconds, Subaru stepped back and held Emilia by the shoulders. "Subaru, what are you doing here? You shouldn't be here. It isn't safe! Your dad is angry at you. He wants to make you go to prison for life. He's been angry ever since the accident." Emilia frowned, frowning slightly.
Subaru sighed. "Yeah, I know. Believe me. I didn't want to be here. But suddenly I was transported here." He paused and thought back on the event. "It was strange; like something had pulled me through dimensions. I got lost and ended up in this alleyway."
He was lying. He, of course, had been to this alleyway numerous times. But, explaining that was a good reason to get Emilia worried. If she found out that he died multiple times she'd worry even more and probably go to the police. He didn't want to risk that happening. So, he kept it on the DL.
Emilia nodded, understanding exactly what he meant. "Alright, we can talk about that later. I'm tired and need to go home. I guess this is a good excuse to show you where I've been living ever since I was summoned to this world. Don't forget your wallet and phone."
Yet, Subaru's wrath got the better of him. He first, wanted to kill Elsa before anything else. "Emilia I'm thirsty for a drink. I think we should first go to a bar. They must have some alcohol there, right?"
Emilia's face became pale white. "You serious? " she asked, surprised.
"Of course I am," he replied. "Now let's go! I could really use a glass."
Emilia shook her head. "Fine. I could go for some whiskey myself! I'm so fucking tired of beer. That stuff's so weak, it tastes like shit!" With that, she grabbed Subaru's arm and began dragging him along. Though, she looked at her three other crewmates. "Oi! You three! Get your asses moving! Bring the rest of the crew to the bar. It's been ages since we all last hung out. I'm starved for real human contact!" She yelled.
The three ran to the distance and Emilia smiled. "See? That wasn't so hard! Now let's go."
As Subaru and Emilia walked down the street Subaru wondered how he'd defeat Elsa. Hopefully, he'd come up with an answer soon enough.
A/N: I'm oddly intrigued by the concept of a tomboyish Emilia. It's basically the complete opposite of her official characterization. She's also the leader of a gang because why not I guess?
Elsa also seems to be a JoJo character as she's in possession of the Stand, Killer Queen. She just touches people and they damn well explode into ashes.
Bet that had to hurt though. This AI is really out here giving Tappei new death ideas. Getting exploded internally is certainly a new one. I'm a little scared though. I feel like the AI might've written Itself into a corner. Elsa is so overpowered, that I doubt Subaru will be able to defeat her, even if he just abuses the hell out of Return By Death. I guess we'll see though. Anyway, thank you for reading! I will see you next time!
