Chapter 5

Someone unexpected/expected

We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun.

The sound of the waves rocking back and forth filled the air and a cold breeze was blowing.

The clear sky, the crystal clear ocean, the yellow sandy beaches and the lush green trees decorated the island. It looked like a paradise, filled with mother nature. Somewhere along the beach, laid a familiar white Ragna-mail, vacant of its pilot.

Some distance into the forest, Ange was naked and unconscious on a bed. A brown haired man was working on a pot filled with food. The girl groaned as she stirred. Ange opened her eyes to see an unfamiliar ceiling.

The first thing that registered in her mind was that she was naked, she sat up and looked around, spotting her clothes hanged outside, and a brown haired man standing behind a pot.

Ange stealthily got off from the bed and crept towards the man. Then, just before Ange can knock him out, the man turned to catch Ange in all her glory.

The man's eyes widened before he quickly turned, "Sorry! I didn't know you were awake."

Slightly red from having her nude figure seen, Ange growled, "Were you the one who stripped me?"

The man nodded and pointed outside of the place towards where her clothes, "You were wet all over, I took em of to dry them so you wouldn't get a cold. I swear I didn't do anything!"

The girl didn't answer, the man waited for a while before he decided to turn to see what was going on. But before he could, he felt a sharp blow before everything turned black.

A while later, the man opened his eyes to see his cave. The man tried to move, then only did he notice he was tied to a tree. He then saw Ange walking out of his cave, fully dressed and glaring at him.

The man asked, "Umm, why am I tied up? What did I do?"

Ange said coldly, "Shut up you damn pervert. You stripped me, you think you can get away with that?"

The man protested, "You were wet all over! I can't just leave you there."

Ange snorted, "Sure. That's what they always say, you damn pervert. So, what's your name?"

The man sighed, "Tusk."

Ange stared at the man and nodded. She then walked away from the cave into the forest. Tusk yelled, "Hey! Where're you going?"

Ange stopped and replied, "I'm going to look around. I'll deal with you later."

Tusk sighed, he could just break free easily, since he knew how to escape most tied traps, but he figured that will only cause more distrust from Ange, so he just sat there for a while.

Then, a while later, as it started to rain and night fell, Ange didn't return to the cave and Tusk got worried. He quickly released himself from the ropes and went into the forest in search of the girl.

Meanwhile, with the former princess, she was lying on the ground groaning. The girl had been bitten by a poisonous snake while she was scouting the area. Before she realized it, the poison had spread throughout her body and she collapsed as a result.

As Ange laid there agonizingly, a man covered in bruises and blood walked through the forest and saw her. The man sighed, "What am I gonna do with you?"

The man could see she was suffering, her skin was pale and her lips were blue, most probably bitten by something poisonous, coupled with the rain, she could die if not dealt with quickly.

The man could see the bite marks by her thigh near her pubic regions and grew a tickmark, of all the places, the snake had to choose the bite her by her inner thigh. The man sighed and spread open her legs and went to suck out the poison, meanwhile cursing three people, two of them for putting him in this world and the last one for convincing him to help people in need.

After ensuring she was free of poison, the man lifted her up, placed her on his shoulder and started to move to search for shelter. As he moved, he was met with a brown haired man.

The brunette narrowed his eyes, "What are you doing with her?"

The man looked at the brunette with annoyed eyes, "She got bitten by a snake, now I have to look for shelter or she'll freeze to death."

The man asked, "Fine, come on, I'll bring you to my cave. I'm Tusk, you are?"

The other man sighed, "Kaito. Let's go."

Meanwhile, back at Arzenal, most of the girls were worried. They were mostly worried for Kaito while only Ersha, Salia and Vivian cared about Ange. Jill had to order them to stay put from searching for the man, though the commander chuckled inwardly at how the girls took a liking to the man.

The next day in the morning, Ange groaned as she woke up, finding herself in the exact same bed, except this time she was fully dressed. She looked out to see the dark raining scene before she heard two voices.

The first voice, Tusk's voice, said, "Kaito-san, I can't do it anymore, its enough."

Kaito's voice grunted in response, "Ergh, no… there's still space for it, just push, I don't care."

Tusk replied, "But it won't hold."

The former Overlord replied, "Just do it, you're man. Suck it up and just do it."

Tusk sighed, "Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you."

Then the two men grunted several times as she heard sounds of movement. The girl blushed a deep red, she blamed the girls in Arzenal since they sometimes talked about their fantasies of Kaito. Other reason was that those two might be into that.

The girl couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the cave, "What the hell are you two doing?!"

The two men stared at Ange who was still blushing. Kaito replied, "What do you think? Tusk is helping me patch up."

Tusk nodded, "Yeah, what did you think we were doing?"

Ange blinked a few times before her face lit up from embarrassment. Kaito looked at Tusk before he blinked and said in a deadpanned voice, "You thought we were…"

Ange nodded. Kaito blinked a few times before he laughed, hard, regardless of his wounds since it's something very funny. Tusk merely sweatdropped at the man's reaction and sighed. After glaring at the laughing man as he calmed down, Ange asked, "So what are you doing here, and what happened to you?"

Kaito facade change back to his stoic self at the girl, "Well, I tried to help you, but turns out someone decided to play a prank on us and my Para-mail crashed. When I came to, I was on this island, my Overlord is still on the beach, your Vilkiss too. As for what happened, a Scuna class appeared and tried to kill me, broke that dragon neck before it could do anything."

Ange stared at him and his wounds, "Yeah… what really happened?"

Kaito chuckled, "You're getting better… I had no weapons, almost died, but I survived. Though you seem to be doing not too well, I mean I had to suck out the venom just a while ago."

Ange blinked, "Venom?"

She then remembered that a snake had bitten her at the inner thigh. Her face grew red again, "You son of a bitch!"

The girl threw a fist at him, but the fist was stopped by Tusk, "Hey, calm down, please."

Ange growled, "Hell no, he…"

She was cut off by Kaito, "Are you saying I should take responsibility?"

The girl glared at the stoic man, knowing full well what he meant. The girl decided not to make things worse and turned away. Tusk sighed, "Anyways, I have something prepared, its not much, but it should be filling enough."

Tusk took three makeshift bowls and filled them with some stew he made earlier before he handed one to Kaito and Ange each. The man nodded his thanks while Ange muttered her thanks quietly.

As they ate, Ange's eyes widened, the stew was quite nice. Kaito looked at the girl with a knowing stare to which she glared at the man. The former Overlord merely sigh and went back to eating. Tusk just blinked in confusion and continued to eat.

After finishing the food, the three of them headed over to the Para-mails. Kaito had managed to move the Overlord to the Vilkiss and pulled the white Para-mail out of the water before the black Ragna-mail gave in and fell.

Now, Tusk was working on the Vilkiss while Kaito was working on his Overlord. Tusk sighed, "The circuits are fried, I could fix this in a while though. How's the Overlord?"

Kaito sighed, "No luck, it's a miracle this thing can even move. The radio's busted too, what about the Vilkiss' radio?"

Tusk shook his head, "Everything here is busted, it'll take some time to fix it."

Kaito nodded, "I see, well, I guess we should start fixing them."

Tusk nodded, Ange who was looking at them from the sides blinked, "Wait, what do you mean we?"

Kaito replied without looking at her as the two men started working on the damaged Para-mails, "We as in Tusk and I. I doubt you know anything about mechanics, so just keep watch."

Ange blinked again, "Wait, you know those stuff?"

Tusk added in, "I'm quite curious as well."

Kaito sighed, "Yes, I learned a bit about mechanics, just in case I had to fix them myself, in situations like these. You never know what might happen."

Tusk nodded, "True true."

Kaito then asked, "But how do you know about the Para-mails, much less the Vilkiss?"

Tusk smiled nervously, "Well, I kind of picked some things up when these parts came from the sea to the island. I always wondered where those parts came from, so I took them to study and stuff like that."

Kaito could basically sense his discomfort at the subject and just decided to drop it, while Ange was clueless at what they were talking about and continued 'keeping watch'.

Some time later, the three people had developed something akin to a bond. They had gotten to know each other and survived on the island.

For food, the three of them either went fishing or hunted birds and rabbits. Kaito and Tusk took turns cooking, making all kinds of food that were luxuries given their current situation as they taught Ange how to cook.

Ange had forgotten how long it had been when she actually looked forward to something in her life, now, it was dinner time/cooking lessons with Kaito and Tusk. No one could blame her, Kaito and Tusk could cook like gods (In her humble opinion).

After a few days, it was finally her time to cook. The two men oversaw her cooking and she had done everything perfectly. But for the love of god, the two men could never figure out how on earth Ange's pot of stew ended up as a pot filled with monstrous stuff. Kaito even saw a blinking eyeball in the pot, which he could swear Ange did not put in the pot.

The two men decided to just cook the food themselves and had Ange study how they did it again.

The second time, again, Ange did everything perfectly down to the dot. In the beginning, everything seemed to go well. Unfortunately, as she did the finishing touches, the pot of stew turned green and the pot started to tremble. Only by pure instinct, did Kaito kick the pot away while Tusk pushed Ange down to the ground, did they avoid getting hurt by the explosion.

Ange had brought her wrath upon Tusk for being a pervert yet again after that, but the two men didn't bother with that, instead, they swore among themselves to never let Ange near anything related to cooking.

Now, Ange had just finished washing herself in a clear stream. As she walked along the stream aimlessly, her face reddened as her eyes found themselves staring at a stimulating sight.

Standing in front of her were the only two other men on the island, both naked and cleaning themselves up in a small pond. The girl had already seen Kaito naked once, but due to her anger, she had failed to appreciate the sight, with all the scars and the muscles on him. If Ange didn't know better, she would have sworn Kaito was knight incarnate. As for Tusk, he was skinny compared to Kaito. But the brunette didn't have one ounce of baby fat on him. It wasn't much if you look at him and Kaito, but Tusk was appealing in his own way, like those feminine slender arms and legs were flawless.

Ange stood there blushing as the sight sunk into her mind. After a whole 10 minutes, she realized what she was doing and quickly walked away, blushing the whole time as she tried to forget that sight.

Later at night, as they had dinner, Ange tried hard to not blush as they ate together. Tusk was absolutely clueless while Kaito didn't care at her, making it harder for her not to blush.

After that, Kaito decided he would personally coach Ange in cooking. The former princess was reluctant but gave in after Kaito listed down a long list of reasons, the stern gaze also helped.

Ange also found herself being less bitchy towards Kaito… and Tusk. Given their situation, no one could blame her. Kaito may had been somewhat a brute, he stole her first kiss and all those shit. But no one could deny that he was reliable, even if he was cold and rude. As for Tusk, he was reliable too, but personality wise he was the exact opposite of Kaito. The brunette was kind even with his perverted antics.

The next day, as they were cleaning their clothes, with Kaito and Ange wearing Tusk's spare clothes, Kaito found that Ange absolutely knew nothing when it came to cleaning clothes. The men had spent an hour teaching the girl on basic stuff that the girl had done by her maids or magic.

As Ange spent time with the two men, she started to know them better, especially Kaito. Now, they had just finished the day's part for the repairs. Tusk was sleeping on the table after fixing one of the few parts. Kaito was leaning on a tree, leaning on his back with his arms cross.

As Ange stared at them, she found her gaze lingering on Kaito. Although she wouldn't admit it, the former princess was happy to see him. If someone else were here, they would surely comment on the strange way Ange was staring at him.

A few days later, at night, Ange was staring at the dark night sky. Unlike in the city due to light pollution, she could clearly see the stars, including all the constellations she learned.

Kaito walk as he just stand beside Ange making a conversation, "Beautiful, isn't it?"

Ange nodded, "The skies are so clear, I can see the stars. I never got to see this back in the empire before."

Tusk walked to them and said, "Well, the light pollution in the cities are really bad, plus the clouds always blocked them out, I guess you can't see this back in the empire."

Ange nodded. The trio were enjoying the night sky marvelling the view. Then she spotted something, "What is that?"

She focused a bit and her eyes widened, "A DRAGON? Are those choppers?"

The girl pointed at the four helicopters carrying a Galleon class DRAGON wing several wires. Tusk quickly extinguished the camp fire and pulled Kaito and Ange into the woods. Just then, search lights moved over where they were before the lights moved away.

Kaito asked, "What were those?"

Tusk shrugged, "No idea, occasionally they carry a large sized DRAGON. I don't know where they send it though."

Ange was about to ask more before a Scuna class DRAGON appeared out of nowhere and destroyed the four choppers, sending the crystalized DRAGON and the choppers crashing down.

Kaito cursed, "Shit. Move!"

The three of them started to run as the choppers and the DRAGONs came down. As they ran out to the beach, the Scuna DRAGON burst out of the trees and roared at the three people.

Kaito cursed, "Go! I'll hold it back!"

The two others ran towards the Vilkiss as Kaito faced off against the DRAGON. None of the had any weapons with them, and the only weapons that could kill a DRAGON were Para-mails or something of the like.

As Tusk and Ange reached the Vilkiss, Ange said in worry, "It's not fixed yet."

Tusk cursed, "I still need a few more days for it to even be operational."

Ange said in distress, "We have no time! Kaito's gonna be eaten alive!"

Kaito wrestled with the Scuna class DRAGON as he yelled, "Make it a few minutes! We're gonna be eaten alive!"

Tusk let out a breath and started to work on the Vilkiss. Meanwhile, Kaito punched the DRAGON in the eye, hoping to stun it a bit. He succeeded, but it only served to make the DRAGON angrier.

The DRAGON flailed wildly, sending Kaito slamming into a boulder nearby. It was only due to his durability as a half-Overlord that he retained consciousness from the impact.

The man quickly regained his bearings and spotted a log nearby. He quickly picked it up and swung it at the DRAGON again. It only pushed the DRAGON's head to aside before it swung its tail and sent Kaito into a tree.

Ange noticed this and quickly picked up a knife. She leaped up and stabbed the knife in the DRAGON's back, causing it to flail in pain before it sent Ange onto the sand.

The DRAGON left Kaito and turned its attention to Ange who was still regaining her bearings. When she finally realized it, the DRAGON was already upon her, its jaws ready to feast on the girl.

Ange's eyes widened in fear as the DRAGON readied itself to bite down on the girl, everything slowed down for her as her mind drifted to her mother yet again. Tusk had left the repairs and was running as fast as he could to reach Ange, Kaito doing the same.

But neither of them could reach the girl in time. All seemed lost, then a miracle happened. Ange's ring glowed brightly, and the Vilkiss raised its rifle in hand at the DRAGON to the shock and surprise of both men.

The Vilkiss then pulled the trigger and blasted the DRAGON a few times, not enough to kill it, but it was enough to push the DRAGON off of Ange.

The girl quickly realized this and swiftly picked up her knife. The blonde jumped up again and landed on the DRAGON before she stabbed the knife into the DRAGON's throat again and again and again, fear and anger evident in her eyes.

Even as the light faded from the DRAGON's eyes, Ange didn't stop stabbing the knife into the DRAGON. The girl had blood all over her but she didn't care. Kaito and Tusk quickly stopped her, the former Overlord gripping her knife hand while Tusk placed a hand on her shoulder.

Kaito said softly, "That's enough. It's already dead."

Tusk nodded and said, "You can calm down, its over."

The girl didn't resist as she let the knife slip through her hands. It was clear she was mentally and physically exhausted. Once Ange calmed down, Tusk let the corpse of the DRAGON flow into the sea.

The brunette said sadly, "It must have looking for its friend."

Ange nodded while Kaito stared at the fading image of the DRAGON. He had always suspected that the DRAGONs were much more than mere beasts from another dimension. This just fortified that hypothesis and he knew that there was more to them than meets the eye.

To Ange, she thought back to what she felt when she killed the DRAGON. She shuddered at that feeling. She felt fear and anger, but worst of all she felt satisfaction.

After that event, things went back to normal, and after three days, they finally fixed the radios on both Para-mails/Ragna-mails and they called for help.

The day after they contacted Arzenal, Kaito and Tusk were in another cave. The former Overlord had followed the brunette when Ange was cleaning up. When Tusk pulled off a cloth that was on a vehicle that looked like a Para-mail in flight mode, Kaito spoke, "What are doing, Tusk?''

Tusk jumped slighty and turned to see the man standing by the entrance of the cave, "Kaito-san, you startled me. I was just looking at my older stuff."

Kaito narrowed his eyes at the man, "So all this time, you had transport and a radio?"

Tusk just smiled nervously. The man continued, "I always thought it was weird for someone like you to live on an island like this alone. Ange's still naïve so I don't blame her, I looked up on where we are, we're somewhere between Arzenal and the Empire. It's a coincidence that this is one of the strategical places for spying, right?"

Tusk remained silent and hardened his gaze as Kaito continued, "Besides, a stranded person wouldn't have that kind of equipment. Who are you? What are you planning?"

Tusk sighed, "I am just Tusk. I never meant any harm."

The former Overlord spoke again, "Stop that bullshit, you know as well as I do that no one without training in this world would have skills like yours, hell, the only ones who even know about the Para-mails are all on Arzenal or dead, much less fix one. And last I checked, I'm the only man on Arzenal."

Tusk still remained silent. Kaito let out a sigh and turned, "Whatever, I don't care."

As the former Overlord walked, he knew Tusk knew something but decided to keep it from him. Plus, while they got along during the short time together, Kaito didn't trust him one bit, and Tusk knew that very well. The only reason they even talked civilly was because of Ange and to fix the Para-mails.

Besides, at first sight, Kaito knew what kind of person Tusk was. And he knew Tusk knew what kind of man Kaito was. They had both concluded the same thing, both of them would never get along well.

As Kaito walked off, Tusk sighed. The transport from Arzenal was coming soon, and he couldn't stay here any longer. The brunette honestly meant well, but he couldn't blame Kaito. The last Ancient Human made his choice, even if he felt bad for not seeing them off.

Tusk gathered everything he had and placed it on his vehicle. He then went to visit the graveyard he made for his dead friends and family to say one last prayer. As he finished his prayers, he looked up and saw the chopper from Arzenal descending on the beach.

Deciding it was time, he headed back to his cave and rev'd up his vehicle and shot out of the island, going towards the opposite direction of Arzenal.

Meanwhile, with Kaito and Ange, they were at the beach with their respectives Ragna-mails and they could see the chopper from a distance. Ange asked, "Where's Tusk?"

Kaito stared at Ange and decided not to let her know about what happened, "He's got something he needs to do. He told me to apologize for not seeing you off and hopes we can meet again."

Ange sighed, "I see. I guess it can't be helped."

Kaito nodded as the chopper landed on the sand. The door slid open to reveal Vivian grinning and Ersha smiling as well as Salia with a small smile.

The two walked towards them as the team with them hooked the wires onto both Para-mails while Kaito and Ange boarded the chopper. As the chopper lifted off the ground, Kaito stared out of the helicopter and spotted a black spot on the sea.

Kaito let a small smirk appear on his face as he looked back at the girls with their conversation.

I was in a good mood when playing Super Robot Taisen V and this idea about a girl with two good looking boys like some kind of Shoujo manga came to me. You can say Ange's like a fallen princess, Kaito like a Dark Knight and Tusk like a White Knight. I wanted to get an idea of different views of interaction between two people who were the exact opposite of each other. The part where Tusk saving Ange reminds me how Suzaku saved Princess Euphemia in Code Geass except she wasn't a complete bitchy. Come to think of it, the interaction of Kaito and Tusk seemed a bit like Lelouch and Suzaku. Review please.
