An entire week had passed since the exam. While Daruka was confident they both passed with relative ease, Midoriya was convinced he had failed. And for whatever reason, All Might had decided to go dark and wouldn't return either of their calls. The former Brute Wyvern had even considered going on a small rampage in town in order to lure out the pro, but thankfully Midoriya managed to convince her not to do so. Still, other than that one moment, he seemed completely out of it for the rest of the time. Even talk of Quirks and heroes didn't seem to snap him out of his stupor.
Not even now as he started blankly at a dead fish held in between his chopsticks. "Izuku?" Inko asked worriedly as he son continued to stare at the deceased sea creature in his grip. "Snap out of it. Izuku…" She continued to get his attention, finally bringing him back, allowing him to see his mother's wide-eyed, worried face. "Why are you smiling at that fish? Should I be worried about you, honey?" She asked.
"Oh, no, sorry! I just spaced out for a minute!" Izuku explained frantically, before continuing to eat his rice.
"I told you, it's all gonna work out. Who knows? Maybe the whole thing was a trick and taking down that big zero-pointer was actually a guaranteed spot." Daruka said.
"No way. It's a hero school. They wouldn't have such a great reputation if they tricked people like that." He told her.
They soon finished dinner. As Inko was rinsing water over the dishes, Izuku sat on the couch, wide-eyed, using a grip strengthener in his right hand, holding his phone in his left as Daruka sat on the opposite side of the couch from him, reading one of the many manga that he lent her. If this world wasn't so crazy, she would've sworn this series was based on events similar to her own situation, as the main character basically seemed to be a humanoid Rajang. He could even power up into a golden-haired form! She sighed as she thought things over. (In the end, Maxima didn't know anything more than me. She just woke up in a human form next to her old monster body, too. And I never got in touch with that Astalos. Plus, Izuku said that he met at least one other monster. An Agnaktor, based on his description. So just how many more of us are there? And will there be any more? And what if we don't all change into humans? That could be serious trouble. Especially if any Elder Dragons start popping up.) She thought as, not too far away, Inko floated a book to herself.
"Neighborhood Circular"
Izuku sighed at this, his eyes now having more of a gloomy, hopeless expression as his mother smiled awkwardly. "I know. Waiting for the results is terrible." She said.
"I guess..." He said grimly.
"No matter what happens, I just want you to know I'm proud of you and I think you're really cool, sweetie! And you, too, Daruka! I know you'll do great things, too." She told both of the teens.
"Appreciated." Daruka said.
"Sure." He said.
The neighborhood circular was shown again as Inko took off her house shoes, before Izuku was shown sitting on the couch. Meanwhile, Daruka sighed as she finished the issue and, seeing Izuku exercising, decided that wouldn't be a bad idea, dropping to the floor and doing some push-ups. (Maybe if - when - we get into UA, I could ask the teachers to help me track down the other monster students. But would they go for that? Help me find some random students just because I asked. That could seem a bit stalker-like...) She thought to herself.
Suddenly, the door flew open and Inko was on the ground, frantically crawling towards the two teens at a snail's pace with a pair of letters in her hand. "You both got a letter! Izuku, Daruka, they came! Look! You each got a letter!" She said frantically, before finally holding out the letter. "They're here! Your test results! From UA!" She explained as the letter had a seal with UA's stamp on it.
"U.A. High School"
She calmed down as they each took their respective letter and held up this. "Oh! There was also this paper here telling you to watch them separately." She added.
Daruka looked down at her own letter, taking a deep breath and letting it out. "Alright, then. Here we go. Good luck, Izuku." She said, before putting a hand on his shoulder. "Even though I know you don't need it. They'd be stupid not to take you." She said, walking off to her room. Midoriya looked at the letter with a blank face, before going to his room, which had a sign reading "Izuku" with All Might's hair antennae on it.
Daruka looked at the letter in front of her, feeling another new human emotion. Uncertainty. This letter had the potential to change her future here in this new world of hers. Still, she would not allow herself to dwell on these emotions, using the spikes on her jawline like a letter opener to slice through the envelope, tipping it upside down, allowing a small disk to fall out onto the table.
Said disk suddenly emitted a holographic projection of All Might's face, in hero form, right in front of the camera. "Booyah! I am here as a projection!" The hero announced as Midoriya screamed in surprise.
The former World Eater actually fell backwards out of her chair from the shock. "What the? All Might!? What are you doing in a message from UA?!" She asked, looking back and forth between the envelope and All Might on the screen in confusion.
"I know it's been a while, but with great power comes a great amount of paperwork!" All Might explained, before coughing and bowing. "My apologies, young lady! The truth is, I didn't come to this city just to fight villains. You are looking at the newest UA faculty member!" He announced.
Once again, the monster hybrid found herself surprised by this news. "Well, I can't say I was expecting that. Then I may actually be able to get in contact with the other monster students." She thought.
"So, let's talk about your score. You did... okay in the written exam. Could've done better, but you passed. As for your practical exam, I can safely say you did extremely well. Your initial final score of 40 points would've been sufficient enough to pass [1]. But then this occurred." All Might explained, showing the scene where she, Maxima, Mina and Jiro had all worked together in order to save the pervert from the zero-pointer. "You see, the practical exam was not graded on combat alone!" All Might explained, making an X with his arms. "How could a hero course reject someone committed to saving others, no matter the consequences to themselves!" All Might said, turning to the camera and Daruka. "After all, that is what makes a hero! And that is what my Alma Mater as all about. Training those who would risk their lives for the greater good! Which is why we have rescue points!" He declared, Daruka becoming absolutely shocked once again as she saw the scoreboard with two different categories. And the names that were on that board were pleasant surprises to her.
"No. 1: Aster Talos - 60 villain points, 45 rescue points"
"No. 2: Daruka Wyveria - 40 villain points, 40 rescue points"
"No. 3: Maxima Primigenius - 40 villain points, 40 rescue points"
"No. 4: Katsuki Bakugo - 77 villain points, 0 rescue points"
"No. 5: Eijiro Kirishima - 39 villain points, 45 rescue points"
"No. 6: Tenya Iida - 52 villain points, 9 rescue points" [2]
"No. 7: Izuku Midoriya - 0 villain points, 60 rescue points"
"No. 8: Mina Ashido - 30 villain points, 30 rescue points"
"No. 9: Kyoka Jiro - 25 villain point, 35 rescue points"
"No. 10: Fumikage Tokoyami - 47 villain points, 10 rescue points"
"Daruka Wyveria! 80 Rescue Points! And Izuku Midoriya! 60 Rescue Points!" All Might announced, All Might had his back to the camera AGAIN, before looking back over his shoulder at Daruka. "You both passed the exam! " He told the girl.
Daruka was overwhelmed with another strange new feeling. A sense of warmth and happiness, knowing that she had achieved what she set out to do and would get further because of it and that Izuku would now have the chance to follow his dream. All Might then held his hand out. "Welcome... Daruka Wyveria... You have made it. You're now part of the hero academia!" All Might declared. "However, I must inform you of one last thing." All Might said, the former Deviljho getting up from her seat and leaning closer, unaware that her tail was wagging at this point and knocked over the chair she was sitting in. The former hero then leaned closer to the camera. "You've been searching for something since your arrival here. Well, let's just say you're not the only one. And quite a few of them are here at UA. We've even set up special housing for them." All Might said, much to Daruka's shock.
The former Brute Wyvern exited her dorm and made her way to the living room, where she found the Midoriya's together, mother and son embracing each other happily. They then looked to Daruka as they heard her approach. "Daruka... I did it... I got into UA!" Izuku said, overcome with joy.
"It's a miracle. My son is getting to live out his dream!" Inko added, letting the flood gates open and sobbing with joy.
"I heard. I always knew you could do it, Izuku. I got in, too. Looks like we're gonna be heroes together, after all." She said with a smile.
She then started walking towards the door, surprising the two. "Oh. You're leaving? Isn't it a bit late?" Inko asked.
"Oh. Yeah, it's important. The message also mentioned that there were others like me at the exam today, and it would be a good idea for me to go meet them. It shouldn't take too long." She assured them, before heading out.
The two Midoriya's watched in silence for a few moments after she left. "Huh. I didn't know it was so important for her to meet other foreign exchange students." Inko said blankly as Izuku just chuckled and looked away.
Daruka soon arrived at the location given to her by All Might. It wasn't too far from UA itself, actually still on the property. It seemed to be some kind of housing unit similar to Midoriya's apartment building, but nowhere near similar in appearance. All Might had called these "dormitories", apparently. She had to admit, she was a bit nervous to walk into this group. Even though they were probably the people who could understand her better than anyone, they were still monsters similar to herself on the inside. Not to mention, she had probably tried to eat some of their kinds before, they'd probably be very weary of her to begin with. Still, she pushed these thoughts out of her head and walked forward.
She entered through the doors and greeted by a strange ferret or mouse-like creature. "Ah, hello there. You must be Miss Daruka, correct? All Might informed me about you and that you might be coming." He said.
Daruka simply looked at him in shock. She almost would have believed he was a Wulg from her world changed into this. "Um... Hello. Who, or what, exactly, are you?" She asked, still a bit shocked.
"Oh, yes! My name is Nezu! The one who could be a mouse, or a dog, or a bear! Though the only important thing is... I'm the principal!" He declared in a cheery manner.
Daruka was shocked once again at this. "Oh! I see, sir! I'm sorry for my rudeness!" She said, bowing. Bakugo, of all people, informed her that she should listen to and show respect to the principal back in Junior High, since he could easily make school life hell for her and apparently the only reason he didn't do so for Bakugo was because, in the boy's own words, he was the only hope for the crappy school to gain recognition by becoming a great hero.
"It's quite alright. I'm assuming you're still getting used to this world. The others are as well." Nezu explained.
Daruka flinched at this, realizing the secret was already out. "So... You know about me and the others, then?" She asked.
"Of course! Their situations are all quite similar to yours, actually. But I'm sure they can tell you more themselves." He told her. "Well, then. Let's go on and introduce you to them, shall we? I'm sure you have questions for them and vice versa." Nezu said, leading the way. And soon enough, they came to something of a main room in the building, where several other teenagers around her age were all hanging around. And much like her, they all definitely had telltale signs that they were monsters. First off, she noticed Maxima, as well as the Astalos boy she had seen previously, in addition to a boy and a girl that, at first glance, could easily be recognized as a Glavenus and Agnaktor respectively, who Midoriya had mentioned to her as well. The rest were girls she was seeing and hearing about for the first time.
The first one had three-toed dinosaur-like feet, complete with brownish-black scales with a few orange stripes on them going up just past her knees, with tanned skin on the human parts of the body, with a long and powerful-looking tail much slenderer and more flexible than Daruka's own, with spike protruding from the end came out just above her waist. Yes, her waist, as the decently sized breast would indicate the person to be female, but this is where the scales returned, from her breasts to her neck and down her arms, which ended in viciously clawed four-fingered hands. And sprouting from the back of the wrists of this girl were long bones with fleshy membrane attached to make the arms function as both arms and wings, far better than a normal Flying Wyvern. From her neck up, she looked like a normal human, with an oval-shaped jaw, silver hair, blank orange eyes and sharp teeth. If the feet, tail, wings and scales weren't enough to give it away, the muscular body and large chest that would be able to greatly expand marked this girl as a Brute Tigrex. She was wearing a basic gym uniform: a t-shirt and a pair of small shorts.
The next girl had mostly grey skin on her also muscular, but far leaner body, but it went to full on black from her forearms and forelegs to her hands and feet, both of which ended in vicious, serrated red claws with another set of claws curled back over those that could curve forward, giving her double the claws to cut with. She also had a slender, flexible tail that ended in bluish-purple osteoderms, which ran all the way up her back and came out in a few other places around her hip and collarbone. Other than that, her torso upwards was fairly normal for the most part, with a rather flat chest. Reaching her face, she had a triangular jaw, also had razor-sharp teeth, blue eyes with a couple of scales above them to look like fearsome eyebrows and long, wild black hair with red streaks in it, tied back into a no less wild ponytail. Once again, this one was unmistakable. She couldn't be anything other than an Ebony Odogaron, and she wore a simple black tank top and shorts.
The next one, even amongst these individuals, was quite unique. From her neck down, her body was covered in bone white chitin, arranged in plates almost like a suit of armor. The back of her calves and underside of her forearms also had a number of small orange spike-like hooks along them, which were also on the tips of her fingers and toes, plus a pair of nasty sickle-like claws on the back of her hands that could fold forward, basically turning her arms into scythes, as well as a second pair of arms that were only these scythes, no hands. Unlike the others, who almost all had tails up to this point, she had the abdomen of a spider coming out of her tailbone, with purple crystals coming out of it, as well as a few on her back. Her jawline was also thin and triangular, but there was a pair of small orange mandibles coming out of her jaw as well. She had fair skin and also had lovely blue human eyes, but also two small, blank blue eyes above those as well and long, flowing purple hair. Once again, another obvious choice, since there were only two spider-like monsters and since this one wasn't spitting out fire, that meant she was a Nerscylla, clad in black sweatpants and a purple hoodie.
And the final one was something Daruka could never have predicted. Like the Brute Tigrex girl, she had three-toed dinosaur feet, covered in purple scales that extended all the way up her lower body to her hips. And coming off her back just above her hips was a bulky, leaf-shaped tail with a spiraling curled tip. Above them on the girl's back was a pair of giant purple wings with a white membrane. Other than the monster appendages, she was pretty normal from the torso upwards, although her eyes were similar to Mina's with black sclera, only with purple irises instead. And after opening her mouth, revealing razor-sharp teeth, a very long, elastic tongue shot out and snagged the turkey drumstick the Odogaron girl had been eating, much to her anger. It was something Daruka had dreaded. While not the strongest of their kind, it was still the crafty and deadly Elder Dragon, Chameleos, dressed all in purple with a sports bra, short-shorts, fingerless gloves and thigh-high stockings.
"Dammit, chameleon brat! If you shoot that tongue at my grub again, you're losing a few inches of it!" The Odogaron warned.
The former Elder Dragon smirked at this. "Is that so? How would you do it? Would you bite it off? That means some of my tongue would be in your mouth. Does that mean we made out?" She countered, a red blush flaring up on the former Fanged Wyvern. Then again, that could've been her readying the Dragon Element.
Daruka recoiled a bit at the presence of the humanoid Chameleos. "You've got to be kidding!? An Elder Dragon!?" She said in disbelief. Once again, even if it was one of the weaker ones, it was still an Elder Dragon on the same level as Kushala Daora, which was responsible for ending Daruka's life as a monster.
"I wouldn't say a Deviljho is much better. And a Savage Jho from the look of those scales." The Glavenus said, his tail raised defensively.
Fortunately, before it could go any further, Nezu stepped in. "Now, now! Whatever your relationships were in your old world as monsters is behind you now. For now, why don't you all introduce yourselves and give a quick summary of your time here?" He suggested.
They all looked somewhat uncertain, before the Nerscylla stepped up. "Very well. My name is Scylla Arachne-" She began.
"Wow. Real original." The Astalos scoffed.
The spider girl rolled her eyes at this. "Says Aster Talos, the Astalos. How long did it take you to come up with that? Anyone could figure that out by saying your name too fast." She countered. Nezu cleared his throat to stop the argument and she continued. "I was in my home in the swamplands as usual, feasting on a Gypceros-" She began, pausing as the other monsters voiced their approval of one less Gypceros in the world. "-When suddenly a black and purple fog came in. Then, this weird black void opened up and sucked me in. I didn't stand a chance of fighting the pull. Then I woke up in this world like this." She said, gesturing to her current state. "So, I tried to nab a human for some information, but it was this weird blonde guy wearing those blue clothes humans wear on their lower body, but as a full suit, even covering the bottom of his face. And he could manipulate my webbing against me, plus he had thread of his own to use. So, he brought me in and listened to my story. Apparently, he'd heard about something similar happening, so he said I should try this hero thing to find clues on a way home." She explained.
This caused the rest of the monsters to perk up as well. "The same thing happened to me." The Agnaktor girl stated. She then waved her hand in greeting. "Yo, Tana Agni here. Name basically means 'Fire Goddess.' Anyway, one minute, I'm chilling in a volcano, snacking on Lavasioth. The next, a portal like what you were talking about opens up and I'm in this place like this." She said, gesturing to her human form. "Anyway, I wake up staring at this dude with facial hair made of fire. I guess I crashed into his living room or something. So, he let me stay with them while I look for a way home. But I'm pretty sure he was also trying to hook me up with his son. The main reason I'm doing this hero thing is because he wants me to go to this school with his kid to 'push him to his full potential' or something like that. Kinda creepy." She explained.
Daruka stepped up next. "Same happened to me. I was rampaging through the Ancient Forest because I was hangry- not hungry, hangry- and I tried to take on a Kushala Daora and basically died. The last thing I saw was that portal you've all talked about. Then I woke up like this, moved in with a kid with broccoli hair and met All Might, who told me to try this hero thing for a way home." She explained.
And the rest of the former monsters had basically the same story: the Odogaron girl, Zafira Oni, was in the Coral Highlands, fighting a normal Odogaron when they both rolled off the cliff they were on and fell through a portal. Bredon Masamune, the Glavenus, was in the middle of fighting a Rathian in the Wildspire Waste when yet another portal vacuumed him in, along with the Rathian when he grabbed her tail to try and save himself. Olympia Tyrannus, the Brute Tigrex, was in the frozen reaches of the Guiding Lands, taking on a Barioth when the Ice Tusk Wyvern managed to knock her off a cliff, at which point she fell through a portal like the others. And lastly, the Chameleos: Ivy Jacksonii, had been preparing to drop down from a cave roof onto a hunter who had come to slay her, but before she could chomp down on them, a portal appeared between them, and she'd fallen through.
"So, I woke up as a human and tried to scare a couple of kids into giving me answers, when I got jumped by dozens of guys in a trench coat and a creepy grin on their face." Ivy told her story.
"Ah, yes. That would be one of the teachers here, Ectoplasm." Nezu explained.
"Same. I was just getting some answers from some street punks who tried to ambush me when I was overwhelmed by some cowboy with those handheld slingers. Cowardly weapons." Bredon spoke of his beginnings in this world.
"You are referring to yet another teacher here, Snipe." Nezu added.
"I'd been flying around for a day or so when some blonde punk with red bird wings on his back blindsided me and knocked me out of the sky." Aster threw in as well.
"Hawks." Nezu stated.
Zafira listened to the stories of the others before stepping forward. "Then it all sounds like we were in the same boat. We were either fighting or just got done killing and eating something when these portals took us from our world and brought us here. Besides being incredibly confused and terrified waking up as humans, we'd already be in agitated states due to being in combat or ripped away from our food." She began.
"Not to mention, all of us are among some of the most powerful or dangerous monsters in our world, not counting the Elder Dragons-" Maxima continued.
"Except me. Elder Dragon right here." Ivy cheekily interrupted.
"Dropping dead bodies of giant monsters all over the city, plus angry and dangerous monster/human hybrids running around... Someone was trying to cause a panic." Bredon declared.
"But how did they bring us here in the first place? And how did they know to take dangerous monsters like us?" Daruka questioned.
Nezu clapped his paws together. "You'll have plenty of time to figure out all these questions and any others you have during your time here. But for now, you should focus on getting to know each other and, if you choose to move here instead of your previous lodgings, getting settled into your new home. After all, even if you were once ferocious monsters, now you are still human teenagers who need plenty of social interaction, rest and peace of mind. It's important not to stress out, especially if you still have animalistic nervous systems. Stress affects us far worse than average humans, you know." Nezu told them.
The former monsters all looked at each other and nodded, hoping to try and make the best of their new situations. Still, in the back of their minds, they couldn't help but hold onto their concerns. After all, many of them fell or passed through the portals they went through along with a rival. What if they were still around? And how did the force that brought them here think to do so? And what if they weren't done yet?
A/N: Finally! Three chapters to finish one and a third of an episode! I am on SUCH a roll (sarcasm)! So, there you have it, people! We have finally met all the monsters who will become students of Class 1-A with the rest of our favorites... mostly, I'm sorry if anyone's favorites didn't make the cut. I had intended on a smaller number, but there were just monsters I really wanted to put into the class. And honestly, it's amazing I restrained myself as much as I did. If I put in every monster I wanted, I would've replaced the whole class. So, it's pretty simple, the monsters replaced who they did because they have the same powers as the people they replaced, but just better and with more powers on top of the main one.
Tana will be replacing Aoyama, since they both fire laser beams, but the Agnaktor girl can also tunnel through walls and such. Tana shall be voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell (Caulifla, Dragon Ball Super).
Bredon will be replacing Ojiro, since obviously, they're tails are their main power, but Glavenus obviously goes so far beyond that. Bredon shall be voiced by the late, great Michael Clark Duncan (Atlas, God of War 2).
Aster obviously replaces Kaminari. Nothing against dear old Jamming Yay, but Astalos' power is simply on a higher level than his without frying his brain, plus he can fly.
Olympia is taking over Koda's spot. Yes, something like Queropeco may have fit better, as it can also attract animals, but it can't control them, so I just figured another powerhouse whose voice can be used offensive is a better fit. And honestly, Koda's head shape always kind of threw me off. Olympia shall be voiced by Carrie Keranen (Satsuki Kiryuin, Kill la Kill).
Zafira is stealing Sato's spot. Daruka also could've worked for this, but I digress. Once again, also powers up by eating, but doesn't get dumb from it, plus she has the claws and tail. And, if I'm being honest, Sato's lips always creeped me out. Zafira shall be voiced by Grey DeLisle (Azula, Avatar: the Last Airbender).
Maxima is taking over Shoji's place. I honestly like Shoji and wanted to keep him around, plus I'll admit, Gammoth's powers aren't quite the same as his, but Gammoth is too cool (no pun intended) not to add. Plus, as cool as he is, Shoji's never really around enough to do many useful things. Another powerhouse can do his job just as well.
Scylla is sticking to Sero's place in the class. Once again, similar powers, just better and with more powers, like her sleep stinger and poison. Much less lethal than in the old world, but it can still take someone out of commission. And Sero's mouth creeps me out. Scylla shall be voiced by Kira Vincent Davis (Lucy, Elfen Lied).
Ivy will be replacing Hagakure for obvious reasons: she also has invisibility, but hers can be turned off and with her mist, she can help others hide as well, in addition to her long tongue and poison. Also downgraded to a non-lethal level, but still effective. Ivy shall be voiced by Eden Reigel (The Handler, Monster Hunter World).
And finally, Daruka will be replacing Mineta. She's just better than him in every way. Plain and simple.
But as I said, don't worry! The replaced members of Class 1-A ARE NOT gone for good. They've simply been relocated to other classes, and they'll still make the occasional cameos.
[1] Considering that only 6 members of Class 1-A initially were in the top 10, the lowest being Tokoyami with 57 points and the lowest spot on the top 10 going to Awase with 56 points, I'm going to assume 40 was around the average most other students got.
[2] I also took some creative liberties here and assumed that perhaps some of our monster heroes might have gotten to robots before some of the others and affected their score, similar to how Daruka did to Mineta. Plus, it makes more sense for a few more members of Class 1-A to have made the top 10. Like, I doubt their ranking greatly affected what class they were in, clearly, since more members of Class 1-B were in the top 10, but it still makes more sense.
