"Check out the results from the exam!" An unseen man said as the scene opened up to the Examination Results scoreboard, perhaps unsurprisingly revealing Aster in first place with 60 villain points and 45 rescue points, as well as the scores from the other top 10 competitors.
"Wow. The fourth place student didn't even have rescue points." An unseen woman added.
"He took down those faux villains like an ace." Another unseen man said as a flashback showed Bakugo annihilating several robots. "While most of the other students were busy running from the big obstacle, he stayed focus on letting the smaller targets get in close and then counterattacking. That kid is tough." He explained.
"And then we have our... special cases. All of them did quite well and had all different ways of taking down the robots. I guess they were called monsters for a reason. Hopefully we'll be calling them heroes soon enough." Principal Nezu said.
"On the opposite end, the seventh place student had zero villain points." The woman said.
"He's not the first UA hopeful to take out that giant robot. It's been a while since I saw anyone blow it away with one attack." The man said off-screen as a flashback showed Midoriya once again take down the zero pointer.
"But at what cost? Did you see how badly that kid injured himself? If you ask me, it's like his body isn't used to his Quirk." The first man said as the observation room was shown, the teachers going over the footage of the exam and the scoreboard as a man in black clothes and a scarf with long black hair, unkempt facial hair and half opened eyes leaned against the doorway, lowering his head slightly as the man pointed out Midoriya's quirk.
"And as for these supposed monster students... They may have power, but what stops them from using that power to a lethal degree? If they were natural predators in their old world, then it'll be their instinct to always go for the kill." Another stated in concern.
All Might was in his small form, walking along the Dagoba Beach. He stopped to look back out over the ocean, before turning as Midoriya and Daruka ran up to him, tears in the boy's eyes. "Hi, All Might!" He cried out.
"'Bout time you call us back, you bum!" Daruka called as well.
The Number One Hero coughed up blood at this. "Too loud, kids!" He warned.
"All Might's here?!" A man asked off-screen as the camera panned left to show a couple under a nearby gazebo.
"No way! Where?!" The girl asked, causing All Might to shiver in fear.
"Way to blow my cover! Say it was a mistake!" He whisper-yelled at Midoriya.
"The kid's just kidding! We got a real prankster here! No All Might!" Daruka falsely assured them.
"Lame!" The man said.
"I wanted an autograph!" The girl complained, both of them off-screen.
The hero and heroes-in-training sighed in relief, before resuming their conversation. All Might then raised a hand. "Congrats on getting in." He said.
"I couldn't have done it without your help!" Midoriya said, high-fiving his idol.
"Hey, you did pretty great from what I've heard, so don't sell yourself short." Daruka told the boy, before looking to All Might. "Still, though. Those combat lessons you gave me really helped out. So thanks." She said.
"Oh, speaking of which, I didn't tell anyone in UA that I'd been training either of you. Really, I wasn't one of the judges and I didn't pull any strings for you. You earned that spot all on your own. You, too, Daruka. Being one of the monsters brought into this world made you desirable, but you still had to prove yourself to get in. And you did just that." The hero explained.
"Thanks. Nice to hear I didn't earn the spot just because I was I used to be a giant lizard." She said.
Midoriya bowed at this. "Wow! Thanks for telling me! I'm glad to hear that!" He said gratefully, before looking up with a smile. "Oh, yeah! I was really surprised to hear you're gonna be a teacher at UA this year! I was wondering what brought you here all of a sudden." Midoriya said, closing his eyes and raising one finger with his other hand on his chest, looking very matter-of-factually. "After all, your agency is in Minato, Tokyo and everyone knows-" He started.
"Getting creepy." All Might and Daruka both told him, the boy looking a bit annoyed at this.
All Might turned his back and walked back to the water. "The school didn't want me telling anyone until they made an official announcement. It seemed like fortuitous timing. An easy way to find someone to inherit One For All." He explained, the two remembering when All Might explained he was looking for a successor.
"So, you were hoping that a strong UA student who already had a Quirk would be able to take over your powers. Makes sense enough." Daruka admitted.
Midoriya then looked down at his hands. "Your power completely wrecked my body. And all I did was throw one punch. I can't control it. What do I do?" Midoriya asked as they stood side by side, still looking at his hands.
All Might turned back to the boy at this. "You'll learn to manage it in time. Hoping to master it right away is like asking a baby to run a marathon. You still have to go through the process of learning how to walk." He explained.
Midoriya dropped his arms and lowered his head a bit at the news, before realizing something. "Wait, you knew I was gonna get hurt that badly?!" He asked, his eyes wide in shock.
"You didn't prepare him for that?! The heck kind of teacher are you!?" Daruka demanded, her muscles glowing and swelling and Dragon vapor leaking from her mouth, ready to throttle the emancipated hero.
"Well... we were in a time crunch. But it turned out alright. Plus, now you know what you're dealing with." All Might explained, Midoriya calming down a bit. There were two cans of gas laying down beside each other, before All Might picked them up. "Right now, your Quirk is at all or nothing. One day, you'll learn how to control your output. That way you'll be able to adjust exactly how much power you're using." He explained.
Midoriya smiled hopefully at this. "I just need control?" He asked.
The wine glass, filled to the top was shown once again with cracks in it. "You're overflowing with energy at the moment. With training, your body will hold it better." All Might explained as it was changed to a different, taller wine glass, less full, to the point the person holding it could swirl it around in the glass. All Might then crushed the gas cans in his hand, revealed to be in his hero form. "Then it's yours to command!" He finished explaining.
Daruka was surprised at this, before smirking. "Is that so? Then luckily, I think I might actually be able to help with that." She admitted, letting herself swell to half of All Might's size, the two males looking at her in surprise.
However, before she could elaborate, All Might was spotted by the couple under the gazebo. "Look, it really is All Might!" The man said.
"No way! Where'd he come from!?" The woman asked as a look of dread washed over All Might's face, the hero letting out a grunt as he realized his mistake.
"Right! Now we run!" All Might told Midoriya, taking off.
"Okay!" Midoriya confirmed, the two quickly fleeing the scene.
Daruka let out a groan at this, stopping her flow of Dragon Element and shrinking down like the video game plumber after he took a hit. "How have you managed to keep your secret this long?!" She demanded, chasing after them.
In broad daylight, the outside of the apartment buildings the Midoriya's and Daruka live in could be seen.
"April"
"Izuku?" Inko asked. Inside their apartment, Inko was standing over her son as he packed his bag. "You're all set?" She asked.
"Yeah." Izuku confirmed.
"You're sure? You didn't just pack action figures, right?" She asked.
"I have everything!" He said, looking back at his mother in slight annoyance, before getting up and picking up his backpack.
"And what about you, Daruka? You have everything you need for your studies? You didn't just dump the fridge into your bag again, right?" Inko asked.
"I learned my lesson the first time. Just my school books in here." Daruka assured the Midoriya matriarch.
"Mom, we gotta go! We don't want to be late!" Izuku said, walking to and opening the door.
"Izuku. Daruka?" She said, the boy turning back to look at his mother as he opened the door, Daruka turning and looking back as well.
"What?" He asked, looking back in concern, before looking surprised as his mother started tearing up.
"I'm really proud of you, son." She told him, leaving him shocked. "And you, too, Daruka. You may not be my daughter, but it's been amazing having you around. And to send you off to a school like UA is a wonderful feeling. I'm sure your parents would be proud, too, if they could see you now." She added.
Daruka was caught off-guard by this, her heart skipping a beat for a moment, before she smiled. "Thanks, Inko. And as far as I'm concerned, you're like a second mother to me." She admitted, deciding to hide the fact her first mother would probably eat her, assuming she was still alive. Another good thing about this human body was, it seemed to be saving her from the Deviljho's naturally shorter lifespan.
The boy smiled as he looked between the two, then looked back at his mother. "I'll see you soon." He told her, before heading out, Daruka following closely behind.
The two of them ran towards UA as Deku marveled at the fact they got in with such a low acceptance rate, which Daruka seemed to take little, if any, interest in. But then, she revealed the other monsters that were in the school, to which Midoriya was greatly interested in. So, there's nine monsters in UA, including you?" Midoriya asked as they went through the front gate.
"Yep. And apparently, we're all gonna be in Class 1-A with you." She added as they entered the building.
"Classes are divided into groups of 20 students. That means nearly half the students in our class are monsters." He said in shock.
"Yep. And most of them were pretty close to my level, so you might have your work cut out for you, even with One For All." She said, unable to stop herself from smirking and Izuku swallowed a lump in his throat.
They continued to run through the halls, Midoriya worriedly looking for his class, not wanting to be late. "Class 1-A. 1-A... Come on, where is it?" He asked, before finally discovering the sign for his classroom. "There!" He said in relief, before noticing how insanely tall the door was. "Man, this thing is huge. Are there giants here?" He asked, before trying to mentally prepare himself for what to expect.
"Man, I could almost fit through here as a Deviljho." Daruka said, impressed by the doors.
"The most promising students in the country are behind this door." He told himself, before picturing Bakugo with a menacing face, including an incredibly wide grin with shark-like teeth in one bubble, then the boy who'd given him trouble throughout the exam with a disgusted, judgmental face in another bubble. He quickly shook these thoughts aside, however. "Maybe we're in different classes! Maybe everyone in here is nice. I already know you and Aster, that's a plus." He said hopefully, sliding open the door as Daruka simply shrugged.
However, the inheritor of One For All was right to worry about the identities of his classmates... "Take your feet off of that desk now!" The engine-legged boy ordered ordered Aster as the former Flying Wyvern sat with his feet propped up on the desk in front of him, however. Not to mention, the bespectacled boy wasn't alone.
Bakugo slammed his hands down on the desk, creating explosions dangerously close to Aster's feet. "So, you're the one who got first on the Entrance Exam, huh?! You don't look like much! I bet I could punch right through those wings of yours!" Bakugo challenged.
"Ah! You're going to scorch the desk, you barbarian!" Engine Legs snapped at Bakugo, who responded with an uncaring "Huh?".
Aster smirked at these orders and challenges. "Oh? Is this your desk? I'm pretty sure it's mine, so why do you care if I put my feet on it? You wanna try and take it?" He questioned.
"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!" The taller boy snapped.
The former Electric Wyvern rolled his eyes at this, but then smirked again as he faced Bakugo. "As for you punching a hole through my wings, you're gonna have to get past THESE first." He said, moving his right wing so that the talons on his wing were right in Bakugo's face, crackling with electricity.
Bakugo smirked. "Now we're talking. At least you don't back out of a challenge like some wuss!" He said, holding his arms out and creating explosions.
In the back of the class, Olympia couldn't help but smirk at the commotion up front. "Well, at least this place ain't gonna be boring." She said.
However, the boy with glasses quickly stepped between them, however. "It's the first day and class hasn't even started! We should not be starting with the school year with a disgraceful quarrel! Cease this contemptible behavior at once!" He lectured the two.
"You're kidding me, right?! Your old school put a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it." Bakugo taunted, denying the orders barked at him.
"I'm with Blast-y Boy here. We're in this school learning to fight bad guys, right? So, I say we get some practice in before this lame-ass school stuff happens. You got a problem with that?" Aster challenged, bringing up his tail and snapping it closed several times near Iida's face.
Many of the monsters were looking forward to seeing a fight, while Daruka just sighed. "Oh, great. The super violent lightning rod that can fly is getting all buddy-buddy with the super violent explosion machine. You're doomed." She told Midoriya.
Midoriya had his eyes closed, gloom lines running down them as he realized he jinxed himself. (Just my luck...) He thought sadly.
The taller boy calmed down, however, putting one hand on his chest and holding the other out in greeting. "Let's start over, I'm Tenya Iida from the Somei Private Academy." He greeted.
"Wow. I'd be a lot more impressed if I was supposed to know if that meant something." Aster said with his arms crossed.
"It means he went to some big, elite school you can only get into if you're filthy stinkin' rich. So, he must think you're better than us!" Bakugo explained in annoyance, before smirking and looking back at Iida. "I'm gonna have fun ripping you a new one!" Bakugo taunted once again, causing Iida to recoil in fear.
"You would threaten me?! Your own classmate!? Are you sure you're in the right place?!" He asked, causing Bakugo to turn away and scoff.
They both then noticed Midoriya, Bakugo looking away while Iida looked right at him. "It's him." He said, the rest of the class turning towards the new entry as well.
"And the Devil herself decided to join us after all." Tana said, referencing that Daruka was the only one of the monsters that decided against staying at the dorms.
Midoriya gasped at the sudden attention, looking away in slight embarrassment. "Hi." He said, slightly nervously.
"Why don't you take a picture. It'll last longer." Daruka warned them, purposefully releasing some Dragon vapor from her mouth as intimidation factor.
"Good morning." Iida said, walking up to him. "My name is Tenya Iida." He started.
"We heard you the first time. I hope you're not here to snap at him again, like you did during the assembly. AND during the practical exam, from what I heard." Daruka warned.
Midoriya panicked at this. "Daruka! Don't try and pick fights!" He said worriedly, before turning back to the glasses-wearing boy. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. Super nice to meet you." He greeted, still somewhat nervous.
"It's quite alright. She is correct, my conduct towards you in the past was entirely inappropriate. Midoriya... You realized there was something more to the practical exam, didn't you?" Iida asked, confusing Midoriya. "You must be very perceptive. I completely misjudged you. I must admit, as a student, you're far superior to me." He praised, causing Midoriya to sweatdrop.
"Um... I find that hard to believe." Midoriya said awkwardly.
"I don't know, I'm liking this." Daruka said, pleased at the idea someone was bowing before her.
Suddenly, Uraraka appeared. "Hey, I recognize that messed up hair and that tail! It's Daruka and Midoriya, right!?" She announced, Midoriya turning around in surprise.
Daruka turned back to see her walking in as well. "Hey, Uraraka. You made it into the class, too. Not bad." Daruka said, impressed.
Uraraka turned to her with a smile. "Thanks! I did alright, but you should've seen Midoriya! That punch was AMAZING! Smash! One hit! Down!" She said, swinging her fist to imitate Midoriya's massive punch.
Midoriya blushed a bit as she spoke to him, but thanks to Daruka, he's learned to handle talking to girls better. "O-oh, yeah. Thanks. And also, thanks for offering to give up some of your points, so I could get in." He said gratefully.
"Yeah, but now you've gotta rely on your own power to stay in. And don't expect us to be too far behind!" Daruka said as a playful challenge.
Bakugo is still glaring at the two green-haired teens. (I'm gonna ruin that little bastard. And Lightning Wings over there. And that lizard bitch. They think they're on my level? No one is...) He promised himself as he looked ahead.
Back with Midoriya and Daruka, they were still listening to Uraraka as she was lightly pumping her fists in excitement. "What do you think we're doing today besides orientation? I wonder what our teachers are like? I can't wait to meet everybody!" She said excitedly.
Suddenly, we see a sideways view of the man who had been observing the exam from the doorway, his eyes looking slightly bloodshot. "If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your stuff now." He said, Midoriya gasping in shock and Uraraka appearing to be frozen as it was revealed the teacher was in a yellow sleeping bag, zipped up so far only his head poked out, laying on his side. She turned around and let out a somewhat fearful noise as she looked at the teacher. "Welcome to UA's hero course." He said, unzipping his sleeping bag slightly to allow himself to pull out and drink a small fruit drink pack.
This left Midoriya, Uraraka and Iida in shock with a gloomy anime background behind them. (What is that thing!?) Midoriya and Uraraka thought at the same time as the man stood up.
And Daruka, well... (Is that a giant caterpillar with a man's face?) She wondered.
"It took 8 seconds before you all shut up, that's not gonna work." He said, unzipping and doing away with the sleeping bag. "Time is precious. Rational students will understand that." He lectured.
"All the teachers at this school are Pro Heroes. Never seen or heard of this guy before." Scylla pointed out quietly.
"Then again, he doesn't seem like the type to be big and flashy like All Might." Maxima noted.
The man then looked to the rest of the class. "Hello, I'm Shouto Aizawa. Your teacher." He introduced himself, shocking our class.
To say that the students were skeptical was an understatement. Especially the monsters. "This guy? Our teacher? He looks like he can barely stay away, let alone teach a class." Zafira scoffed.
"Not to mention, he's got to be the scrawniest guy I've ever seen. What could he possibly have to offer us?" Olympia agreed.
"I believe the humans have a saying about judging books by their covers. There's a dangerous look in that man's eye. He's got something planned." Bredon analyzed.
He then reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out what looked to be some kind of gym uniform in red, white and blue coloring and of course UA on the shirt in giant letters, the U on top and A on bottom. "Right, let's get to it. Put these on and head outside." He instructed.
Elsewhere, All Might was shown reading a book with SECRET written on the front in English, looking like it was over police tape.
"Teacher Directory"
(UA's course doesn't follow the normal academic path. Get the wrong homeroom teacher and life is Hell.) All Might thought in concern, looking out the window. (I'm worried about Midoriya, of course, but things could also be rough for Daruka and the other monster students. I know not all of the staff was happy about them being accepted into the school.) He recounted the other teachers lacking the enthusiasm of himself, Present Mic or Nezu when it came to the otherworldly students.
Out on the field, Midoriya's class was shocked at what they were just informed they'd be doing. "What?! A Quirk assessment test?!" They all shouted at once.
"But orientation! We're gonna miss it!" Uraraka said.
Aizawa stood with his back to the students. "If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies." He explained to them, causing the students to shift in surprise. "Here at UA, we're not tethered by traditions." He informed them, before looking back at them. "That means I get to run my class however I see fit." He finished.
"Well, at least we got a teacher who isn't afraid to shake things up." Ivy said with a smile.
"But just how far is he willing to take it. I don't like that look in his eyes." Maxima questioned.
He then completely turned to face them. "You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives. But you've never been allowed to use your Quirks in physical exams before." Aizawa explained, holding up a phone, which had a list of names and numbers next to the names. "The country's trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn." He told them all as more students were shown, giving a better look at different students.
Aizawa then shifted to the student he was about to address. "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points in the entrance exam, what was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in Junior High?" He asked.
"67 meters, I think." Bakugo answered.
"Right. Try doing it with your Quirk." Aizawa instructed. Bakugo was now apart from the class, standing in a circle for... some sport. "Anything goes, just stay in the circle." He added. "Go on. You're wasting our time." He urged.
Bakugo faced the group and stretched out his throwing arm. "Alright, then. You asked for it." He said. He did a little more stretching as he prepared to throw. (I'll add a little heat to my pitch and drop their jaws. Let's see how you like that, Lightning Wings and Lizard Bitch!) He planned. He then lunged forward and prepared a powerful throw, before using an explosion to send the ball flying. "DIE!" He shouted as he launched the ball into the lower atmosphere.
Several students were shocked at this, including Midoriya, who seemed terrified. "Oh whoa..." He said worriedly.
"Damn. That's some power. Wouldn't mind seeing how it stacks up to mine." Olympia said.
"I think we're all thinking that." Tana added.
"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities." Aizawa explained as they all watched the ball land a huge distance away, Aizawa clocking it with his phone once it landed. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero." He explained, showing them the distance of Bakugo's throw: 705.2 meters.
Most of the class was shocked at this. Even the monsters found themselves decently impressed. "Dang! Not bad, 'splodey! I might actually have to TRY if I want to beat that." Aster said, although this only served to make Bakugo angry once again.
"I wanna go! That looks like fun!" Said a girl with pink skin and hair, yellow eyes with black sclera and two small, yellow horns on her head as she clapped her hands together excitedly.
"This is what I'm talking about: using our Quirks as much as we want!" A boy with long black hair and an upside down triangle for a mouth said, the redheaded boy next to him pulling his fist back in excitement.
"So this looks fun, huh?" Aizawa asked, unnerving the students. "You have 3 years here to become heroes. You think it's all gonna be games and playtime?" He asked, before gaining a twisted grin. "Idiots... Today, you'll be competing in 8 physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none... And will be expelled immediately." He explained, shocking and horrifying the students. "That goes for all of you, even if you think you are special because you got in on recommendation, or some other kind of exemption." He added, making sure to send specific looks monster students as he said this.
Back with All Might, he pressed a hand against the side of his head in concern, evidenced by the sweat on his face. "Crap, they got Aizawa!" He said as he looked at the teacher's file.
"Name: Shota Aizawa
Erasure Hero: Eraser Head"
"Midoriya's gonna be singled out from the start." He realized. "Not to mention Daruka and the other monsters! I'll be amazed if he doesn't expel them all as soon as class starts." He said in concern.
The students were still shocked at this, registering what their teacher had just informed them of. "Now I see what you meant by him taking things too far." Daruka said to Maxima, glaring at their teacher. (This guy's insane. Scratch that: this SCHOOL is insane. What kind of place allows you to kick someone out on the first day?!) She asked in disbelief.
"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs! Understand?!" Aizawa told them, stroking hi hair back and making a creepy face. "If that's a problem, you can all head home right now!" He told them, most of the class looking indifferent or confident.
The intermission came and went, then Uraraka took a step forward with her fists clenched. "You can't send one of us home! I mean, we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!" She protested.
"Oh? And you think natural disasters are?" Aizawa asked, surprising the class with his sharp retort. "Power-hungry villains, hmm? Catastrophic events that wipe out whole cities? No! The world is full of unfairness! It's a hero's job to try and combat that unfairness!" He explained, the students becoming somber and serious at these words. "If you wanna be a you're going to have to push yourselves to the brink. For the next three years, UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So go beyond. Plus Ultra style." He told them, before wagging his finger for them to come forward. "Show me it's no mistake that you're here." He told them.
"Harsh, but he's not wrong. I'm kind of curious as to what else he plans to put us through." Bredon admitted.
Bakugo kept stretching and loosening his joints with a confident smile on his face. (Time to blow these nerds away!) He thought.
Midoriya still looked nervous, but then Daruka put a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Midoriya. You've trained. You've gotten better. You're strong. You've got this." She assured him, before looking to Bakugo. "Try not to fall behind, Katsuki. I'd hate for you to be kicked out of this place before I get the chance to kick your ass." She challenged.
"There's no way you're beating me! I'll leave you in the dust, Lizard Bitch!" He snapped.
"Uh, yeah, there's at least four other girls in the class that are reptiles, so you'll have to come up with something else." She told him as she started to walk away.
Uraraka clenched her fists and got a determined look on her face. "Now, then. We're just wasting time by talking." Aizawa told them as Midoriya, too, clenched a fist and gained a look of determination. "Let the games begin." Aizawa declared.
"Test 1: 50-meter dash"
A strange robot that looked like a camera on a tripod with arms stood ready to record. "Runners, on your mark!" It announced as Iida and a frog-like girl with long green hair in a ponytail took up the first two positions. "Ready?!" It asked as they raised up to run, before a gunshot sounded, Iida rocketing off with his engines as the girl launched herself into the air. Iida quickly dashed and made it across the line first. "3.04 seconds!" The robot confirmed. The frog girl then landed from her jump and crossed the line with one final leap.
"Whoa. We sure he's not a Valstrax or something? Those legs look like they work like his wings." Zafira questioned, to which Scylla shrugged.
Aizawa looked at his phone to analyze the time. "Well, he's definitely in his element, but speed won't help him in every test." He said.
The girl then turned around as well after finishing the course, her tongue hanging out quite a bit.
"Tsuyu Asui: 5.58 seconds"
Uraraka was then shown touching her clothes and using her Quirk on them. "I'll lighten up my clothes! Oh! And my shoes, too!" She said, touching the bottoms of her shoes as well.
Bredon, who would be running alongside her, couldn't help but admire her strategy. "Impressive. Doing even minor changes to improve her overall result. She's clever." He admitted.
"Um... Thanks, but you know I can hear you, right?" Ochako asked.
"Get set!" The robot declared.
(Unfortunately, I can't do anything like that. I doubt heating up myself or my tail would do much of anything. Guess the little Gravity Girl has me beat.) He admitted, before the robot fired off another shot.
Uraraka then ran as fast as she could for the finish line, Bredon doing the same. He wasn't drastically far behind, but he was still noticeably slower. Soon enough, the girl crossed the finish line "7.15 seconds!" The robot stated, before quickly having to answer for Bredon as he crossed the line shortly after. "7.85 seconds!" It added.
The humanoid Glavenus sighed at this, before turning to Uraraka. "Not bad. Quick on your feet and quick-witted." He praised, holding out his hand.
Ochako blushed significantly at this. "Oh. Wow. Thanks." She said awkwardly, but still shook his hand.
The other students couldn't help but not the blade-tailed boy before them. "He seems pretty tough. And that blade's probably a total killer!" Kirishima said in amazement.
"Maybe. But clearly he trades power for speed, having to lug around a big and heavy blade like that all day." Yaoyorozu pointed out.
Next up was Tana and Mina. The leviathan girl leapt forward with her hands together to make a tough point, spinning and drilling into the ground like any normal Agnaktor. She crested out of the ground a couple times as she drilled through the track, bursting out of the ground just before finish line, lava dripping down her body in a few different places, which was visible, as her outfit was full of holes and burn marks. Thankfully not enough so they'd fall completely off or that made any private bits visible, but that would still definitely be their last time being used. "4.66 seconds!" The camera announced.
Many of the students were shocked at this, with the girls who weren't previously monsters jumping in the way to block the view of the boys. "Does that... always happen?" Kirishima asked, unsure of how else to respond.
"If her time living with me is any indication... yes." Todoroki said, trying not to remember the various times over the Summer his father had them spar and she would dive into the ground and come back with her clothes completely burned off. Fuyumi was NOT happy that all the clothes she was lending to Tana usually wouldn't be returned... or that Shoto had seen a naked girl multiple times already.
Aizawa sighed at the destruction of a school uniform, before starting the next group. (Testing the upper limits of their powers helps me assess their room for growth. It becomes clear what they can and can't do with their true potential. At least for the normal students. Without seeing what they could've done in their monster forms, there's no way to gauge how much more or less powerful they are. But it will be a good way of figuring out the kind of damage they're capable of.) He mentally explained.
Daruka and Maxima were up next, with Daruka activating her Dragon Organ and swelling up to full size. The two then took off, with Maxima using her trunk-ponytail to blast out air like a reverse of how she used to pull hunters in with her trunk, allowing her to tie with Daruka at 6 seconds. Zafira was still able to run similar to how she used to as an Odogaron, which she did with a boost of Dragon Energy to clear the finish line just slower than Iida at 3.10, while Olympia sadly had to stay on two legs, but those legs were still quite powerful, allowing her to clear the line at 5 seconds on the dot. Aster simply flew across to clear the line at 3.10 and while Ivy retained similar speed to her Elder Dragon self, disappearing and reappearing to cross the finish line at 3.04 seconds, Scylla found her arachnid abdomen slowed her down on foot, crossing at six 6 seconds flat, only being faster than Bredon, which was due to his heavy tail.
Midoriya and Bakugo were the next runners, with Midoriya looking somewhat confident, but still slightly unsure. "Runners, on your mark!" The robot declared, the boys raising up to take off. But as they did, Bakugo saw what looked like a light off to his side, turning to see Midoriya glowing with green lightning "Ready?" It asked, before firing the gun. Midoriya took off instantly, but Bakugo, having been caught off-guard, started late, launching himself forward with a large explosion.
(Sometimes, Pros have to be creative in order to succeed.) Aizawa mentally explained again.
Bakugo growled as he saw Midoriya rushing forward, just barely managing to keep up with powerful explosions, but they still managed to clear the line at the exact same time. "4.13 seconds!" The robot declared.
Aizawa was shocked at this. He had been planning to erase Midoriya's Quirk when he prepared to use it, but then he saw the boy used it flawlessly and even kept pace with who Aizawa believed would be one of the more promising prospects for a future hero. (What's going on here? This kid destroyed his body last time we saw him use his Quirk. Now, it's like he's got a handle on it. How could he do that in just three weeks?) He questioned.
"Alright, Midoriya! Nice work!" Daruka praised.
"I tried just like you said. I was nervous at first, but it really worked." He said happily.
Aizawa found himself surprised once again at this. (So, the monster girl helped him get his power under control, did she? Maybe they really could be great heroes, as long as they can reign in any killer instincts.) He thought.
All the while, Bakugo looked at his former friend in shock. "No way... You can't keep up with me." He said, recovering from his initial shock and returning to his default setting of anger. "How'd you do that, Deku, you bastard?! What kind of trick are you trying to pull!?" He demanded, going for Midoriya, before he was suddenly grabbed by the collar of his shirt by Aster's tail, the former Flying Wyvern carrying him a few feet into the air, before twisting and flinging him back at the rest of the group, Daruka managing to catch the bomber boy.
"Whoa, there, Blast-y Boy! You can't just go around attacking people like that! That'll get you expelled before Mr. Aizawa has the chance to! Or before I have a chance to kick your ass!" Aster taunted.
"You wanna say that again, punk?!" Bakugo snapped.
The explosive Pomeranian continued to snap at Aster as Midoriya looked down to his hands. (I did it! It really worked! Daruka's training really worked!) He said in amazement
He then though back of himself, Daruka and All Might on the beach after escaping the couple, All Might back in his small form. "You CAN harness One For All. It's simple." All Might told him, suddenly holding his arms out wide. "You have to FEEL it!" He declared.
Midoriya clenched his fists and eyes, letting out a grunt of annoyance. "Can you be a little more specific!?" He asked.
"So, you just channeled all your power into your legs for the jump and your arm for that punch on the robot, right?" Daruka asked.
"Oh, uh- yeah." Midoriya confirmed.
"Alright, then. There's your first problem. One For All doesn't sound that different from the Dragon Element." She said, before looking at their incredibly skeptical faces. "Okay, so they're almost nothing alike, BUT! They do have a connection that their powers are dangerous at too high of a level." She explained, activating the Dragon Organ. "For instance, I can channel the Dragon Energy in my body, but I only send it all one place when I'm shooting a beam from my mouth. The rest of the time, I'm sending it through my entire body." She explained as they saw the red glow extend from her chest, through her arms and legs and up to her head, her muscles expanding.
"I could send it all to my legs if I wanted to make a big jump or something, but that would be all that energy in my legs with no place to escape from. You see how my muscles expand as the Dragon Energy goes through me, imagine that just happening to my legs. They'd swell to be thicker than a tree. It'd be like jamming nine potatoes into a sack meant to hold, like 3. It's just too much. The sack would rip. And it does on occasion with the normal sac already." She said, wincing a bit and the males cringing as her muscles expanded to the point they tore open the stretch marks on her skin, which were a result of the times she's already used her Dragon Energy to expand her body. "And I don't just use it for one giant burst, unless- again, it's coming from my mouth, where the energy has a place to safely be expelled, but even then, I only really do that after I've had the Dragon Energy flowing through my body for a while. It's not like a light switch I turn on and off. It's more like an oven that has to heat up and cool down." She finished her explanation.
Midoriya struggled to keep his breakfast down at the sight of his house guest's skin tearing, but slowly began to understand. "I think I get it. Don't send it to one place all at once. Let it go through my whole body at a low percentage and hold it for a while, not just when I need it. Thanks, Daruka." She said.
She just shrugged at this. "No problem. I'm just glad I can help out in some way OTHER than you bench-pressing my tail." She said.
"Alright, we've got a game plan now. Great work, the both of you. We've got 3 weeks until school. The more you concentrate, the faster you'll learn." All Might told him, tapping the side of his head. "Control over One For All isn't gonna happen overnight, but you'll nail it one day." He told the boy, everything going white.
And with that, Midoriya snapped back to the present. (It's only a little bit of a percentage, but I can use my power without hurting myself. And I'm keeping up with Kacchan! That's enough for now.) He thought, before remembering what his Pro Hero mentor said. "You just gotta keep trying." All Might's voice echoed in Midoriya's head as he looked up in determination as Aizawa looked on.
"Test 2: Grip strength"
Midoriya stood with a grip tester in his hand, his eyes closed as he focused. (Okay. Let the power build up. Don't rush and don't use it all at once.) He mentally told himself, letting his power well up again for a few moments and squeezing the grip tester, getting a solid 600 kilograms, even managing to outmatch a few of the monster students, namely Tana, Bredon and Ivy, the two non-Elders gaining a lesser, but still respectable 450 and Ivy gaining 500. Aster held the device in his tail and channeled electricity to make his tail tighten even more to match Midoriya's 600. Next were Maxima, Olympia and Zafira, the former two being natural power houses and the latter charging herself with Dragon Energy to reach 800. But the top scorers were, of course, Daruka and- surprisingly, Scylla, who maxed out the device at 999 kilograms.
"What?! Impossible! How did a Nerscylla beat me!? I ate your kind for breakfast!" Olympia cried out in disbelief.
"Um... you remember we're supposed to keep the monster thing hush-hush, right?" Aster reminded her.
Scylla smirked at her former predator's shock and anger. "Well, we all got weaker in these new human bodies, but some of us more than others. You know spiders like me can lift 170 times our body weight, right? It's lucky I didn't break this whole scale." She teased.
"Well, you made this human thing work for you. I have to respect that." Daruka praised.
"Human thing? What are you guys talking about?" Kirishima asked.
"NOTHING!" All the monsters cried out at once.
"Test 3: Standing long jump"
Midoriya cleared the jump with ease right after Bakugo did so. (I can't believe it. So much progress in just three weeks. I bet if Daruka wasn't here, I'd be going home for sure.) The broccoli-headed boy thought in amazement at what he had just accomplished, before turning to watch how Daruka and the other monsters would be able to do.
As for the monsters, Aster and Ivy flying over it, Olympia and Zafira also making the jump with ease, thanks to their powerful legs, Scylla having the clever trick to jump decently high into the air, firing a line of web to the other side of the sandbox, then reeling herself in and Tana once again burrowing underground, only to burst forward and launch herself over the pit. Sadly for the last three monsters, they couldn't quite make it, Daruka and Bredon being weighed down by their tails once again, landing just before the opposite edge of the sandbox. And Maxima was new to this whole concept of jumping, plus she, too, was weighed down by both her muscles and her head crest, only making it to the middle of the sandbox.
"Test 4: Repeated side steps"
As he did this test, Midoriya moved fast enough to the point it looked like there were five of him simply standing side-by-side, flickering a bit as he moved in and out of their places. As for the monsters, they did it to the best of their ability, the only real ones to stand our being Scylla, who again, shot a line of web and reeled herself in, back and forth, as well as the two properly winged students, Aster and Ivy flapping their wings to send them back and forth.
"Test 5: Ball throw"
Uraraka smiled as she threw the ball and with a shout of effort, she tossed the ball and watched as it flew into the horizon and vanished in the sky with a twinkle. Aizawa looked at his device and raised it, no number being shown, only the infinity sign. "Infinity?!" The class all shouted together in shock.
Olympia couldn't help but chuckle. "Impressive. I thought these whelps would be nothing but weaklings, but this experience may just be fun after all." She said.
"I'll say. Even the big bad black dragons couldn't pull off that score." Aster agreed.
"You better hope no Fatalis or Alatreon made it to this world with us." Bredon told his fellow Fated Four member.
"Enough talking. Let's wrap these tests up so I can get back to my nap." Aizawa told the students. (Maybe there's really nothing to worry about. These monsters may be rough around the edges, but they seem to get the rules. Besides, having them in my class would be the best way to keep an eye on them. Besides, it seems like they're good motivation for the other students.) He thought to himself as Bakugo went into another tirade about how he'd crush Zafira in a fight, while Midoriya and Daruka were having a small discussion, before the boy went up for his turn throwing the ball..
Midoriya looked at the ball and sighed. (I've come in either the middle or upper portion of the class through most of these tests. There should be no way that I'm the one in last place going home... But still, it almost feels wrong I might be the reason another UA student born with a Quirk gets sent home for getting a lower score than me.) He thought, but shook it off. (No I can't think like that. All Might gave me this power. I can't let him down!) He thought, powering up and throwing the ball an impressive 540 yards.
And then, of course, the monsters all had their turns. Aster charged himself with electricity, did a twisting backflip and flung the ball with his tail, reaching 460 yards. Olympia was up next and threw the ball to a distance that already would've been quite impressive, but then unleashed a roar which caused a wave of air pressure to send the ball even further, landing at 680 yard. Thankfully, after one of the first tests, Yaoyorozu had made everyone earplugs to muffle the effects of the former Pseudo-Wyvern's roars, so no one (particularly Jiro) would suffer hearing damage.
Scylla and Ivy both used the trick of attaching the ball to something, Scylla's web and Ivy's tongue, respectively, to whip the ball around before flinging it, reaching distances of 390 and 700, respectively. Bredon tossed the ball and hit it with his tail like a baseball, sending it flying to an even 500 yards. Tana did something in a similar vein to Olympia and sent the ball flying with her lava beam, the device miraculously holding up and still being able to register that it landed a devastating 800 yards away. Maxima simply used her brute strength to hurl the ball 700 feet away. Zafira powered up with Dragon Element and managed to hurl the ball 666 meters away. And finally, Daruka also powered up with her own Dragon Element and chucked the ball so it landed 705.2 meters, perfectly tying with Bakugo.
With that done, Daruka wiped the sweat from her brow and turned towards Aizawa. "So, teach. What's next?" She asked.
A/N: There we go, everyone! Another chapter down! I hope you enjoyed the changes, such as Midoriya having a bit more control of OFA earlier on. Now, this isn't going to make him completely unstoppable, but it will help bridge the gap that was there early on between him and his other classmates... And of course stop him from CONSTANTLY getting injured. It may have ruined the epic/powerful moment at the end of the episode, but I hope it was worth it. And yeah, don't worry, the monsters aren't just going to be immediately better than all their classmates, there are still some areas they will also have to get used to and improve in, or areas where the students are naturally better than what the monsters were working with.
But what do you think? Do you like these changes? Did any of the monster's results surprise you? Let me know in the reviews!
