Not much action in this chapter, but a lot of introductions as Midoriya meets his new classmates. Also, when the characters introduce themselves, it will be their last name and then first name (Ex: Midoriya Izuku). This is due to having Pony in the class that will be introduced later on.
Midoriya made his way to UA slightly anxious, as many things have happened since the UA entrance exam.
For one thing, after a bit of discomfort and slightly aching hands, he could now use Kendo's quirk for himself. Able to enlarge his fists and shift them back to normal with relative ease. Though the copying had gone well, he also found out that the change was permanent. Now able to switch between 'Explosion' and 'Big Fist' with only a bit of hesitation.
In all his years as a quirk and hero nerd, he never heard of anyone with this type of power before. Most articles, forums, and group chats all stated what the doctor said all those years ago. That there is a time limit of the number of quirks one can hold. The closest to an answer he got was whispers and snippets of a mysterious boogeyman who had it long ago. Most seem to say it's too outlandish and are quickly denounced. Yet Midoriya wasn't so sure.
He let out a small smile as he thought of Kendo. Despite the rocky and awkward start, they quickly became fast friends after they traded numbers. They continued to talk and did the occasional meetups whenever time allowed it in the time before UA. Even going as so far as to do a few sparring sessions with each other before school started back up again.
He also found out what place be made in the exam. It was 1st place! Apparently, there was a thing called "rescue points" in the exam that was added for those who helped others. He already had 45 points from the robots, and helping that girl added another 60 points to his for a total of 105. (Bakugo was upset at that, with him having 77 points). Kendo had managed to pass too, which now leads him to now…
Standing in front of a giant door with a big red 1-B on it, he was ready to start his journey as a hero student with 18 unknown allies and hopefully new friends. He opened the door with a joyful smile ready to take on the day…
And was surprised not to hear any screaming of any kind. No screams from Bakugo yelling at others for being 'stepping stones' for him, or that kid with glasses that had corrected him during the exam. Just people have conversations with one another as they waited for their teacher to arrive. Kacchan must have been in the other class.
He shuddered at the idea of the average person trying to deal with Bakugo's bombastic personality.
Kendo noticed him at the door and gave him a quick wave before going back to talking to a slightly chubby kid with blue hair that was sitting next to her. Midoriya decided to do the same as he went to head to his desk after checking where he was seated on the board. Making his way towards his seat, he saw a boy that seemed to have no lips seated in the front of his row and with the person behind him having a glue dispenser for a head.
Passing by with a quick greeting and getting one back of his own, he made finally sat down as he took look around the classroom. It still didn't click to him that he was finally here at UA, being able to live out his dream of being a pro hero. With the classmates around him going through it alongside him during their three-year duration here at UA.
"Man, I can't wait to get started on the hero course!"
The greenette jumped a bit at the shout and turned to his right, he saw a guy with grey hair and a sharp-toothed grin looking at him in slight amusement.
"I bet that's what you were thinking right? I can see you looking around the entire room with a sparkle in your eyes."
Midoriya slightly blushed in embarrassment at being caught, but he knew there was no malice in the boy's words. "Yeah, it's been my dream to come here ever since I was a kid. It's kind of hard to believe that I'm finally here."
The guy threw his head back and let out a huge laugh, "I can feel that. I'm just super pumped up right now! I want to get started right away!", he stuck a hand out to Midoriya as a sign of greeting, "The name's Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. The name's so nice, they say it twice.", the boy said with his grin never faltering in the slightest.
The boy blinked at the odd name choice before a snort escaped from him, though he still stuck a hand out to meet his in a handshake to show that he didn't mean any harm by the action.
"Midoriya Izuku, the one and only I suppose."
The sharp tooth teen grin seemed to widen as he clasped his hand tightly against Midoriya's own. Though the greenette had to hold in a wince at the amount of force that the other teen applied, surprised at how firm his hand was even though he went through that tough regime with All Might.
But before the two could continue their conversation, someone else spoke up.
"Must you guys be so loud?", a slightly tired voice called out from behind him. Making the two boys jump turn a bit around to see a girl with pale gray hair that covered the left side of her face leaning on her desk, leaving only one of her eyes peering at them that displayed mild annoyance, "It's much too early to embark in such boisterous conversations..."
The two boys blinked at the odd word choice, unsure of what to answer back to the slightly sleepy classmate. Until a hand from the side poked the girl in the cheek in a teasing manner. When the hand retreated, Midoriya was greeted with a girl who had sharp-looking teeth as well as hair that looked just as green as his own.
"Come on. There's no need to be so negative, it's only the first day.", the girl teased before an eyebrow was raised, "Why are you so tired anyway?"
The girl with the hair covering her eye fidgeted with a slight red hue on her cheeks at the curious looks shown by the three students. She mumbled something that Midoriya or his new friend wasn't able to hear, but the new arrival seemed to have heard given by the way her sharp grin widened. Though Midoriya didn't get a chance to ask what she had heard before she stuck out her hand similar to Tetsutetsu.
"Tokage Setsuna.", the girl said with a teasing grin and glint in her eyes.
"Midoriya Izuku.", he said with a smile of his own before he started to pull his hand back. Yet when managed to pull his hand back, his face paled at the sight of the girl's hand and entire arm disconnecting from her body and holding on as he went to sit back. A quick glance towards Tetsutetsu and the gray-haired girl showed that they were equally shocked by the act as well. Though he could have sworn that the girl was much less squeamish at the sight than the other.
"Pft! Hahaha! Oh man! You should've seen the look on your face!", the green-haired girl burst out laughing as the arm returned back into her socket before she clutched her own stomach to try to calm her laughing fit.
Midoriya managed to get out of his shock state as he sighed in relief that he didn't manage to kill his classmate on the first day. Realizing that she had used her quirk to pull off a prank during the exchange. Though he really wanted to what kind of quirk that she used to pull off that trick. Or how long could she keep them separated before needing to call them back towards their body? Or was there a time limit for her at all? Could she split herself into even more pieces? If so, how many?
The girl by now had calmed down enough to see that Midoriya was just looking at her arm with an intrigued gaze. Complete with furrowed brows and a small frown on his face as his fingers twitched every so often. Tokage waved a hand in front of Midoriya's that snapped him out of his thinking phase with a slight giggle.
"I know that my quirk is quite a shock whenever someone sees it for the first time, but I didn't think I would break your brain on the first day mophead."
"Mophead...?", Midoriya mumbled as he self-consciously grabbed a strand of his hair down so that he was able to put it in his line of sight. Though he could hear Tetsutetsu snicker at the comment and the lady with the obscured eye give a slight smile over the name, the traitors. He huffed as he let go of his hair so that it returned back to its natural, curly self as he gave a slight smile.
"Ha Ha, very funny.", he said sarcastically before turning to the other girl with a smile, "And sorry about all the noise...", he trailed off to let the last person introduce herself to the other two, which she did with a slight smile.
"Yanagi Reiko. It's a pleasure to meet you."
So far, Midoriya was having a great time meeting his new classmates. While his time in Aldera wasn't bad, he had a tough time connecting to others that just saw him as a second Bakugo because of his quirk.
Before any more introductions could be given, the door opened that silenced all conversations and made the students go back to their seats. With a man having a bulky, muscular build, along with short pale gray hair which is spiked upwards and with two prominent lower canines moving towards his desk.
This was the pro hero Vlad King.
Midoriya nearly exploded with awe and excitement at the thought of being taught by the blood-based hero, wanting to ask a few questions about his work as a hero and his quirk. He failed to notice the people around him looking at him oddly though.
"Alright, welcome to UA!", the man said with a broad smile, "I am known as the hero Vlad King, but here in this classroom you will refer to me as Mr. Kan. Today we will be going to the assembly for an orientation. So try to not make too much of a ruckus and line up in a single file."
A couple of the students groaned at the information of what the day entailed, but nonetheless got up from their seats and started to line up, though there wasn't much of an order to things. As everyone pretty much lined up next to whoever they were talking to. With Midoriya having Tetsutetsu behind him and Yanagi in front. Though he noticed the class continued to whisper to each other as they made their way to the assembly.
Vlad took a glance behind him, the mindless chatter continuing on as they made their way to the location of the assembly. While he could've stopped them, he decided to let it be for the time being. Knowing that the day would be the only chance of rest before they started their training as heroes the next day.
Making it towards a field outside, the class saw a massive wave of studies already seated as they waited for the announcement to start. All of the staff were seated on the stage, involving several heroes that he didn't see when he took the entrance exam like ectoplasm and snipe. He also noticed the frail form of All Might sitting with them as well, who gave him a small wave when they briefly locked eyes.
As the class started to sit in their seats, Midoriya couldn't help but notice that the section in front of them was empty. It was probably for the other first years students. It wasn't too long before a dressed, rodent-like creature took the podium and began the assembly, with Midoriya looking a bit startled that they weren't going to wait for the other class. He thought that there must've been a mistake, yet Vlad didn't seem to comment on it as he let out a slightly irritated sigh on the stage.
"Hello! Am I a dog, a bear, a rodent? I am Nezu, the principle of UA High!"
The students all clapped politely at the appearance of their principal before slowly falling silent as Nezu continued to speak.
The meeting was... actually really boring if he had to be honest. While he was excited to finally be able to attend UA, the meeting was mostly focused on the student guidelines during their time here at UA and Nezu's hopes of what to see from their current year of students. Although Nezu's face didn't really change from his usual eager smile as he continued to explain the numerous rules and guidelines of UA, Midoriya could tell that the other students weren't all that excited to sit here for a long time either. He was pretty sure that Tetsutetsu was asleep for a least half of it based on the soft snores beside him.
Suddenly, an explosion was heard off to the side that made all of the students jump and Tetsutetsu yelp and harden into some type of metal on reflex. Though Nezu seemed to have a grin as he reassured people that everything was fine. Midoriya could only huff out a laugh, as he had a pretty good idea of who was the cause of the explosion to begin with.
As jealous as Midoriya was about Bakugo getting a head start doing hero stuff before he was, he had a more important issue that he was dealing with at the moment: his quirk.
He never heard of anyone being able to hold multiple quirks in his life, and wondered if he should tell anyone about the true potential that he carried. He knew that telling All Might was a given, as the greenette was a potential successor for receiving One for All. But then who then after that? His teacher? Perhaps, since he was the one that would be teaching him throughout this school year. Maybe the principal too? Midoriya had heard that Nezu's intelligence was kind of unrivaled when it came to solving difficult problems. His classmates?
A slight grimace appeared on his face at that last thought. It's not like the idea was a bad one, but he didn't know how they would react to the information if he did share it. Would they hate him if they found out the truth? He didn't think that he would be able to keep it a secret for the next three years here at UA, but knew it was only a matter of time until he would have to copy their quirks for class. The boy decided that he would only copy their quirks with their consent as Kendo did.
He jumped a bit and was brought out of his thoughts with a slight nudge from his side, and met with the face of his new classmate Yanagi Reiko looking at him in slight concern.
"I noticed that something is troubling your thoughts...", she hesitated a bit before continuing to speak up, "Would... you like to partake in sharing your grievances with me?"
Midoriya stared blankly at the girl as he tried to decipher what she was trying to say to him before his expression brightened up. Figuring out that she was asking if he wanted to share whatever was troubling him with her. It surprised him a bit to be honest, though it was more at the fact that she was ready to help him even if they were making so much noise for her earlier. He was still touched at the offer nonetheless.
"Thank you Yanagi, but I'm ok...", Midoriya started with a kind smile, "I was just thinking about something that I needed to do, but I think I figured it out now."
Yanagi looked at his face for a moment before she nodded with a small smile, "If you are positive about it then I won't bother you about it any longer, but do know that you can speak to me anytime Midoriya."
They both turned back towards the front just as Nezu was finishing up his speech with a small smile on their face. If the rest of the class were as kind as the people he had met so far, maybe he didn't have anything to worry about when the time came to reveal what his quirk could do. Only time will tell he figured, so he politely clapped at the end of Nezu's speech as he looked to where Vlad King and All Might were sitting and wondered how they will react to his quirk.
There was only a couple of minutes left before the school dismissed the students for home, so the class was lingering around like they have done this morning talking to one another. Vlad King waited for a bit before announcing that he was off to do some paperwork, entrusting the students to be civilized on the first day as he made his way towards the door.
Midoriya managed to scoot out of the way catch the blood-based hero just as he was about to step out the door and the other students started to mingle again, making Vlad turn to him with a raised eyebrow.
"Did you need something...", he looked a bit lost as he trailed off and continued to look at him before he focused back onto the teen, "...Midoriya? That is your name, right?"
The teen in question was a bit surprised that the teacher was able to remember his name even if it was just the first day of school, but nodded all the same to answer his question.
"Well then, how can I help you?", the hero said with a kind smile.
Midoriya took a quick glance behind him and saw that most of the students were still in various groups talking to each other about their first day in UA and what they may see tomorrow. Though he noticed that a few lingered on his presence.
"I wanted to speak to you and the principal about my quirk in detail...", the teen started with a hushed whisper that made the pro have to lean down a bit, the teen swallowed a bit nervously as he added the next part, "...and can you bring All Might to the meeting as well?"
The blood-based blinked in surprise that the boy somehow knew that All Might was here at UA in the first place. Since as far as he knows, there weren't any announcements made either to the public or during orientation that gave any clue about the Symbol of Peace's position. Though while he knew that was a major concern, he was more concerned about what he wanted to share that apparently couldn't wait until they started their quirk proficiency test the next day. While a part of him couldn't help but worry about what his student wanted to share, he had to admit that he was a bit curious about the quirk based on what he saw in the entrance exam.
The pro sent the student a contemplative look before making answering in a hushed whisper of his own, "When the bell rings, just make your way towards the principal's office. I will ask Nezu if he is fine with it, but something tells me that he will happily take in your request."
Midoriya sighed in relief that his request was allowed, but was still unsure how would they will react when he told him. Either way, he went back towards his seat to find several students surrounding his desk in a conversation. Some of which that he already knew like Tetsutetsu, Yanagi, Tokage, and Kendo. Yet there was a couple of new additions as well, such as the light blue-haired boy that Kendo was talking to earlier. Along with a tall, beast-like student standing beside his orange-haired friend and a boy with pitch-black skin and white hair who hesitatingly took his hand out to shake Tokage's. Though Midoriya had a good idea of what the girl had in mind by the looks of her sharp grin. His presence seemed to have alerted all the students at the table, with Tokage making a pout at the fact that her dark-skinned classmate withdrew his hand.
"Hey Midoriya," Kendo said with a smile as the two bumped fists, "I was looking for you when we got back, but by the time I made it to your desk you were already gone."
Tetsutetsu nodded alongside her as he sat at his desk, "He went to talk to the teacher before he left, though I have no idea what."
The green-haired teen could only give a sheepish smile as he rubbed the back of his head, kind of embarrassed that he let his new classmates wait for him.
"Sorry, I just wanted to tell the principal something important. So I was trying to see if I can meet him."
The others raised an eyebrow at that titbit, wondering what could be so important that he needed to talk to the principal directly. Meanwhile, Tokage shook her head in mock disappointment with a grin on her face.
"Damn Midoriya, not even a full day in school and you are already going to the office. Never took you to be such a troublemaker.", the sharp-toothed girl said with a snicker escaping her lips.
Midoriya had only spoken with her a few times today, but he already knew that she was the kind of person that loved to tease others no matter the occasion. Though that didn't mean that she was uncaring towards others either.
He saw Kendo roll her eyes, though he could tell that it was in amusement based on the smile that remained on her face.
"Midoriya's not that kind of person. I'm sure that whatever it is must be super important if he had to do it on the first day."
While Kendo nonchalantly said this, she was secretly worried about what exactly her green-haired friend needed from the principal on the first day. Though Midoriya seemed to have waved it off when their eyes met with one another. She would have to ask him later.
Midoriya seemed to have just noticed the new arrivals, as his eyes drifted from the unknown students back to Kendo a couple of times seemingly waiting for something. Kendo realized that he was waiting for her to introduce them to him and his new friends.
"Oh! Midoriya this is Shoda Nirengeki,", Kendo gestured to the light blue-haired boy next to her, "We got to talking to each other about sparring sessions and it turns out that he specialized in boxing!"
Midoriya was amused at how excited Kendo seemed to get at the idea of having another sparring partner so easily, but he was more interested in the person's response. Since he didn't know anyone personally who took up boxing as a way to train for the hero course.
The boy in question sheepishly rubbed the back of his head with a small blush on his face due to all of the attention before answering, "It's not that big of a deal, it's just the style that works best for my quirk."
Midoriya was severally tempted to ask what type of quirk he had that made him want to learn boxing. But stopped himself after seeing the raised eyebrow and knowing smirk from Kendo, who was already used to his deep fascination of quirks by now.
The next person who stepped forward was a boy who seemed to have shaggy brown hair on nearly every part of his body except the face. Which had a pair of small rectangular glasses and two sharp canines that stuck out from his bottom lip. Midoriya couldn't help but be a little bit intimidated by his classmate and wondered how he would greet himself. Would he be overbearing like the student who called him out in the exam? Or would he be as loud as Kacchan?
His thoughts were cut off when the hairy student made a slight bow in greeting before stating his name, "I am Shishida Jurota, it is an honor to meet you Midoriya. And I hope that we have can get along on our path to become heroes."
Midoriya blinked in surprise at the polite manners that Shishida demonstrated since it was such a contrast to how he looked that he couldn't help but be a little taken back. But he figured the best way to answer back was to introduce himself to him with a bow of his own.
After that, another boy with pitch-black skin and snow-white hair anxiously stepped up to him as well. Noticeably kept his gaze away from any of the girls that were around him.
"K-Kuroiro Shihai", he said as he hesitantly shook hands with Midoriya. He didn't know what made his classmate so nervous around other people at the moment, but maybe he would be able to find out later on. For now, he hoped that a simple greeting would be enough to calm his nerves for the moment.
After that, the conversation took on a much pleasant turn. With him learning more about his classmates on their hopes for the hero course and the various hobbies that they like to indulge in. Such as Yanagi's love for horror films and themes. Or Tokage's interest in pulling pranks, jokes, teases. And Tetsutetsu's bull-headed nature for combat and a high moral for anything 'manly'.
They may not have been able to get started on heroics right away, but Midoriya still had a good time talking to his classmates nonetheless. It made him excited to see what they can do when the time comes to show off their quirks.
The bell finally rang for them to be dismissed, and the students all got up with their belongings and started to head off the door. With Midoriya following Kendo and the rest towards the front of the school before he had to break off. His orange-haired friend was tempted to ask what was it that he had to ask the principal but ultimately decided against it as she said her farewells and left with the rest of her class.
Leaving Midoriya only to take a deep breath as he made his towards Nezu's office, unsure of how this meeting will go.
(Principal's Office)
Midoriya finally made it to the office with a hand raised about to make his presence known, yet the door suddenly opened to a conference table with All Might, Vlad King, Recovery girl, and Nezu at the head of the table.
"Am I a bear? A mouse? A dog? Maybe! But I'm also Nezu, the principal of UA! Welcome Izuku Midoriya, I heard you wanted to speak to us about your quirk? I must admit that I was a bit curious about what you have to say based on your actions from the entrance exam."
He looked anxiously around the room to see his homeroom teacher looking at him curiously, but also with concern. Recovery girl had a clipboard in hand which he assumed was his medical records and maybe some notes. Nezu was looking at him with a slight glee in his eyes as he waited for him to start. Then he saw All Might give him an encouraging nod towards him, and that was all he needed for him to begin.
"My quirk is known as 'Quirk Mimicry', where it allows me to completely utilize a person's quirk after feeling their drawback. I had this quirk since I was 5, but I couldn't copy another quirk until my body could take the drawback. The second quirk I got was from Kendo on the day of the entrance exam. What I also discovered is that my quirk copies quirks permanently, and I also keep them for an indefinite amount of time."
To demonstrate, brought one of his hands out from his side and enlarged it with ease. Showing the use of Kendo's quirk that he managed to copy. He then shrunk it back down to normal size before seeing a few sheets of paper on the table. Selecting one of them, he set it ablaze with a small explosion after a bit of effort. He dusted his shirt and pants to get rid of any remaining ash that landed on him.
The reactions he got were mixed.
Recovery Girl was looking at him with wide eyes. Due to his medical records failing to mention that he even received this much potential. Vlad King was looking at him in surprise, but he seemed a bit more contemplative and concerned than worried. All Might was also looking at him with wide eyes, but he also looked a little bit pale. He didn't know what that was about. The most surprising reaction was Nezu, who was just cackling up a storm spilling tea everywhere.
"HAHAHA, Oh my! I knew you would be a very interesting case Midoriya! HAHA, you are going to make this the most interesting school year!" Once he calmed down from his laughing fit, his expression then turned serious towards the new hero in training. "However, I am afraid this brings us a few problems that we must address."
He nodded fearfully towards the rodent(?) in charge, hoping there wasn't anything life-threatening at play here.
With a heavy sigh, the animal in charge continued, "For one thing, no one, besides perhaps your mother, must ever know that you possess the ability to hold multiple quirks. It causes too many problems with not only villains trying to capture you, but also with the government and their… excitable nature…" he said as he ran a paw down the scar over his eye.
The freckled teen shuddered thinking of the things others might do to him and his loved ones.
"Second, I will make conditions that will help disguise your true quirk. I will give them to you first thing tomorrow morning. If that's all, is there anything else that you have questions or concerns about?"
Midoriya thought about it for a moment and thought of a request that hopefully doesn't offend Nezu, but Vlad King decided to speak up before he could respond.
"Hold on, you're just going to make him lie to his classmates?"
Everyone's eyes turned to the blood-based hero, who was staring down the principal with a frown. Nezu didn't seem put off by his subordinate's concerns if the smile on his face was any indication.
"This is a very delicate situation Kan, this is the only option that we have on our table. Plus, he only just met his classmates today. It's far too soon to share the full potential of his quirk with others as of right now. We have no idea how they may react. Unless you have some other way that he can share his quirk with others without any potential drawback to outside sources."
Vlad King opened his mouth to speak, but then stopped himself. He hated to admit it, but his superior had a point when it came to his students.
They just went through orientation, not even completing an entire day of school yet. Heck, they didn't even get to demonstrate their quirks to each other either. How would they react if they learned that Midoriya could copy and keep the quirks that he encountered? So he understood where Nezu was coming from, he really did. But even so...
"...You can't hide this, at least not forever. Three years is a long time to hide that quirk from your class Midoriya.", the teacher looked at his student in sympathy and concern.
Midoriya and All Might shared a quick glance, no doubt having the same concerns about One for All. Would they be able to hide it when the time came to receive it?
Midoriya's teacher was silent as he looked down in thought with both hands on his chin in a contemplative manner. Before he looked at Nezu with a questioning gaze.
"What if chooses to share his quirk on his own, surely there must be a way for him to do it safely?"
It may have seemed like a futile effort going against a decision made by Nezu, but Vlad was just trying to reduce as many lies and deceit as he could. Not wanting his student to be ostracized or feared when the time came to reveal his quirk.
Thankfully, the rodent seemed to be thinking of the same thing as well. His eyes narrowed a bit before he turned towards the greenette in question.
"Well... I suppose that it all boils down to what Midoriya wants!", the principal chirped with a smile, "It is your quirk after all, and I won't stop you if there is someone that you absolutely believe will keep your secret with you!"
Midoriya blinked in surprise at the level of trust that was that the head of UA was giving him. While a part of him understood that keeping his quirk a secret was probably the best course of action, he hated that he was going to have to lie to his classmates the whole time. He knew that One for All had to stay a secret due to All Might's condition, but he didn't know if he could keep both secrets at once.
But then he thought about his interactions with the classmates he made so far, and how welcoming they were towards one another even though it was the first day of school. He knew that it would be foolish to tell someone that he just met, but maybe he can wait to see if he can fully trust them to know his quirk.
"I'll... think about it.", Midoriya hesitantly decided before he rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish smile, "It's still just the first day of school after all."
Vlad let out a breath that he didn't even know he was holding, with some of the tension in his body easing away a bit. While Midoriya didn't exactly agree to share his quirk with others right away, it wasn't a definite 'no'. Which was all that the blood-based hero could hope for. He would have to keep a close eye on the green-haired imitator and his interactions with the other students throughout the school year. Hopefully he will be able to keep up, as he couldn't remember the last time that he had a student that would have such an impact on the class dynamics.
…
Hold on, is this what Aizawa meant by 'problem children'?
Nezu clapped his two paws together to bring all everyone's attention back to him, "Well then, is there anything else that you wanted to ask to this meeting Midoriya? While I am thankful that you decided to share your quirk with us, I don't want to keep you waiting here any longer than you need to."
Midoriya glanced at Nezu with hesitation, as he didn't know if this next request would offend him.
"Yes, if it's not too much to ask, I would like for Recovery to perform some tests as I undergo the drawbacks. The drawbacks are probably the most confusing part about the whole process since I don't know the reasoning of the drawback since I can use the quirk normally right after."
He slowly opened his eyes as he looked at Nezu, and he wouldn't believe a grin could look more excited as well as terrifying. It didn't help that he also looked on the verge of releasing another bout of cackling. Thankfully he reined himself by coughing in his paw before agreeing to his term.
"I don't see why not. Recovery Girl will lead you towards her office to discuss what she needs from you. Will that be all?"
With a shake of his head and a deep exhale, he followed his way with Recovery Girl, who was talking about getting some blood, skin, and hair samples from him.
"Hold on a second," Vlad interrupted the duo before they were able to leave the room, "I am curious how Midoriya knew that All Might was working her at UA, since I know there wasn't an announcement made on his employment."
Midoriya froze as his eyes widened in realization, knowing that he was caught red-handed with having a connection to All Might. He was so focused on telling the principal and All Might about his quirk that he didn't think of what his homeroom teacher will think. Thankfully the teacher didn't seem to be angry with him, just a bit suspicious.
However, he didn't know what to say to his homeroom teacher at the moment, since All Might never told him of a cover story for this type of scenario. And he could tell that All Might felt the same by the way he was fidgeting when they met eyes.
Thankfully they didn't have to worry about a whole lot, since Nezu seemed to have come from their defense for some odd reason.
"All Might personally welcomed some of the top students when we had released the results for the entrance exam. And Midoriya here was one of the few who was lucky enough to be greeted by the Symbol of Peace.", the principal turned to All Might with the smile never leaving his face, "Isn't that right All Might?"
The number one hero jumped a bit at being put on the spot all of a sudden, but quickly answered seeing his boss's expectant gaze.
"T-That's right! I was so impressed by his performance that I just had to welcome him into UA!"
Vlad seemed a bit uncertain about that proclamation, but didn't argue with them as reluctantly nodded to the two before turning towards Recovery Girl.
"If you don't mind, I would like to come with you to see what you find out about Midoriya. Since it would give me a better understanding of what to expect later on in the school year."
Midoriya didn't show it, but he was a bit surprised by his homeroom teacher's insistence on being part of their little experiment. Since at Aldera the teachers didn't really seem to have shown as much initiative and drive towards their students unless they showed powerful quirks. It made him glad to know that their teacher wasn't going to be anything like that.
"Well, if that seems to be all Midoriya you can be dismissed. I will write the conditions that you need to demonstrate for others and hand them to you tomorrow. In the meantime, I got a few words with All Might here to discuss…", Nezu said with a knowing smile towards the Symbol of Peace.
The hero shivered under the gaze that Nezu was giving him, and Vlad King stood up to walk himself out and followed his student and the nurse to her office. When the two were finally alone, Nezu dropped his smile and looked at All might with a raised eyebrow.
"All Might…. Is he your successor for One for All?"
Sweating slightly, he answered his boss without trembling as best he could, "Yes, but I didn't know about this ability until today... either way, I still think he's a noble candidate."
It was true that he was a bit unnerved about the multiple quirks part of the equation. But who was he to judge? After all, he was chosen not because of a quirk, but because of his character. Young Midoriya has more than proven his worth if the sludge incident and the entrance exam were anything to go by.
"I agree… I only ask because I want to know if he is aware of him..."
Both had grim expressions on their faces at the thought of that vile foe in the shadows.
"No, I am sure I put an end to him the last time we met..."
"I hope you are right All Might, for you and Midoriya's sake…."
The first few characters introduced were based on the seating arrangements that Midoriya and Kendo had. Also, a BIG difference between this story and the main one is that Midoriya WILL tell a few of his classmates about the true nature of his quirk. But that's for later on. Next time, the quirk proficiency test.
