Taking a Stand
Sean's P.O.V.:
Ah, end of January. There is nothing like it if I say so myself. Right near Pro Bowl and Super Bowl time also no school. Okay, I'm kidding on the last part. Lauren would get mad at me if she found out I said that. Sorry Laur. In other news, we were hanging in the Electric Diner with our friends Keith, Lisa, Shock, Mario, and PJ. Jess and Hector were doing something and couldn't join us but they should be here soon. But the whole week could have not been better. The rap battle was a success and PJ got an A on his creative writing assignment! I'm telling you when we heard the news, we cheered. We told him hard work would pay off. Lauren was showing Shock, Mario, and I pictures of the costumes she was thinking of for the 70s theme video were filming in the summer. Keith and Lisa were busy with a board game. "And here is Hector's outfit which will be part of his birthday present from Jess and I," Lauren showed Shock and the others on the laptop. It's a velvet green like suit complete with pants 70s inspired shoes and a braided headband like piece. "Wow Lauren, I am impressed, nice job," Shock told her. "Thanks Shock. I'm really proud of how this came out," she smiled. "I bet Lauren but how come you choose cotton instead of velvet, would it give more 70s vibe," Mario asked. "Well, I was thinking about it but honestly you all know summer here in Brooklyn right," she started to say. "Yeah she's right. It gets hot," I added. "Hot enough for crazy to happen," Mario shrugged. "True," the others agreed. "So Lauren, what's the other part of your birthday present for Hector," Keith asked moving a game piece. "Lauren and I are writing a song for him. We got the lyrics written and all but were trying to figure out the medley," I explained to them. "Oh," they realized. "Yeah and were stuck," she admitted. "Well, if you need help, let me know and we can discuss it after school," Keith suggested. "Thanks Keith," I smiled.
PJ's P.O.V.:
"So let me get this straight. You guys are filming this video in a idea of a 70s film," I asked Lauren. "No it's basically the nature of the song. We want to bring it old school," she explained. "Oh and by old school you mean like a 70s disco," I wondered. "Yep. Besides, I almost wanted the song to be set to one of the greatest disco songs of all time," Lauren told us. "Which is," I asked. "You should be dancing yeah. Dancing yeah," Lauren started to sing. I just smiled and so did the others.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Wait, that was your song tune idea Lauren? I thought that was Jess," Shock asked her. "No and you know Jess, she prefers hip hop," I pointed out. "True, but I thought it was I will survive," Sean sung the last part. "Hold up, I thought we voted on don't you want some hot stuff baby this evening," Keith added in from playing the game with Lisa. I think it was checkers. "Well it was down that way but Hector changed his mind after Shock and Mario played the beats. Besides they want it to be hip hop. Next video, were doing my style," I told the others. They looked at me. "Okay our style," I shrugged. "That was Blacked Eyes Peas I gotta a feeling playing here on z100's hit radio music. What's up everyone is your personal favorite DJ Elvis Duran, not to be confused with Elvis Presley. Glad you are spending your Tuesday afternoon with us here on our radio waves. Were soon to be giving away tickets for New York Yankees opening day so stay tuned for that and coming up music from Adele, Bruno Mars, Pitbull and of course the boy band blowing up right now Big Time Rush with their hit single Halfway There. Right now were sending it over to your local news station for weather and news," the radio sounded as we relaxed. "Any idea on when you're going to get the pieces Lauren," Lisa asked. PJ stood behind me looking over. "Well, some of them Jess and I ordered already. There part of Hector's birthday gift. Should be coming in the mail soon," I explained. "Oh," they realized. "Yeah so better to be safe than sorry," I shrugged."But in other news, we got plans for Hector's surprise party," Sean announced. "You do," they asked.
"Yep. I'm keeping the fingers crossed and God willing it doesn't rain that day and hopefully the building is available," I explained. "Sounds like you'll let us know," Keith grinned. " Sure will," I smiled. "Hey Lauren, getting back to the video shoot. Shock and I have the song on the laptop minus your brother and sister rapping so, if we want we could test the acoustics on the day of the shoot before everyone comes to film," Mario suggested. "That's perfect, thanks Mario. I think that will help a lot. We'll need your expertise in music wise for the song we wrote," I told him. "Well, you can count on Shock and me," Mario smiled. "And me," Keith added. "And now your WNBC channel 7 news update," the radio sounded. "Hey the news is coming on," Keith announced hearing the radio announce the news.
"Hey Leo can you turn the volume up," I asked. "Sure thing Lauren," he told me turning up the volume on the radio. "Good afternoon everyone I'm Sarah Hutchinson and we have some breaking news that is just coming out of the regional area of Brooklyn today. It has just been announced that the famous JT Bookbinder house near the Church of Our Lady of Fatima has been purchased and will be demolished," the radio announced. All of us looked at the radio with shocked eyes. "WHAT," we said in unison. "According to our sources, the property was just bought by the owner of the Antigone Carruthers Corporation, Antigone herself who plans to build a hotel in the vicinity of where the house is. When asked for comment, she said it was for someone and would not give further details. Only to check the website for an official press release. We are still receiving information but until then fans of the famous house, should plan a final tour soon to give respect for a truly historical landmark here in town," the radio explained.
"What? Their tearing down the Bookbinder House," Sean asked. "That's not nice. Hector's middle school student council worked hard to get the house named as a landmark here in town," I added. "Yeah but I'm on confused on why would someone like Antigone buy the place when they know it has value," Mario asked. "Good question Mario," I wondered. "HEY YOU GUYS," a familiar call echoed through the streets of Brooklyn. "Sounds like Hector is calling the gang," PJ noticed. "Yep," we replied. as Jess and Hector came into the diner. "Why in the world would she," I heard Jess's voice talking with Hector. "I know, why on earth. Doesn't she know the government and my class student council worked hard to get it named a local landmark here in town and now a hotel whose idea was it," Hector added as they saw us waiting for them. "Oh hey guys, didn't you hear me call," Hector asked. "Yeah we did. Care to explain how you guys first heard of the news," I asked.
Keith's P.O.V.:
"I thought you guys heard it before we did," Jess asked. "No. We heard it on the radio just a few minutes ago," I replied. "Alright long story short, we were on a tour of the place with Steve," Hector started to explain. "Just as he was finishing up, he got teary eyed and upset about the building being torn down soon, that's when he broke the news," Jess told us. "But we told him keep his head high because the Electric Company can do this and save the house," Hector smiled. "Isn't that a false promise," Sean asked. "Sean, I don't think so. Either way it is or not," Lauren told him. "I know that Lauren but the point is, she wants to build a hotel and I don't know why," Hector said. "Neither do all of us big brother. It's like finding a needle in a haystack," I told him. "Hey Shock, can I have my laptop," Hector asked Shock. "Sure," he said coming over with it and Hector logged in. "What are you doing big brother," Jess asked. "I'm going on Antigone's website to see the official press release and maybe that can get us some answers," he told us typing things into the computer.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"So, how are the designs coming for the costumes," Jess asked looking over my shoulder. "So far so good sis, I got pretty much the pieces and hopefully we can do consignment shopping soon to find some accessories," I told my sister. "Great Lauren this is going to be awesome. Your still keeping in the pieces you got me for Christmas right," Jess smiled. "That's the plan sis," I told her. "Found something guys," Hector told us. "You did," I asked. "What you got man," Mario said looking over Jess's shoulder. "According to the company press release she wants to build a fancy hotel there named. Oh God," Hector scoffed at the last part. "Oh God? That's what she wants to name it? I thought it would be something more sophisticated you know the Antigone 2.0, La Plaza, those names," Sean said to me. "Well, they all sound good Sean but none of them are that," I told my friend. "Lauren's right Sean. I didn't say oh God because of those names. I scoffed because I saw the actual name of the hotel she's building," Hector explained. "Well, is it any good," Lisa wondered. "Nope. It's and your not going to believe this The Francine," he told us. I soon spited out my juice and so did Sean while PJ, Keith, Lisa, Shock, Jess, and Mario stared at Hector in shock. "The Francine," we all asked in unison. "I know really right," Hector told us. "Yeah," we all said together.
"Why on Earth does she want a hotel called the Francine," Sean asked. "I don't know Sean, you don't think she's," I wondered. "Trying to get Hector's attention again," Jess asked. "Maybe or she's up to some Prankster jokes "again"," I mumbled. "I'm not sure Lauren but I bet it's a two sided thing meaning she's doing this to get his attention and trying to prove Pranskters are better than us," Jess agreed. "What do you guys mean by that? I mean, it wouldn't have to do with me would it," Hector asked. "I'll explain later Hector, but right now the point is we have to save the Bookbinder house at all cost and preserve it forever," I told the others. "Lauren's right, we need to keep it open so that way many people can be apart of the legacy," Keith agreed. "Now your talking Keith," I said happily. "Well now that we all agree on the same idea, my question is how do we preserve the house when we know Francine's mom is going to tear down the place," Lisa asked. "She's right," I wondered out loud. "Well, in a case like this we go down right to her and talk about it," Hector told us. "Woah. Hold on back the tractor up Hector. Are you crazy? Remember last time we tried to talk to her," I asked recalling the bill board issue. "Well yes and it's been long maybe she's willing to talk now," he told me. "Your joking are you," I asked my brother. "No I'm serious. I mean its worth a try," Hector shrugged. "Doubt she will," Sean asked. "Nope," I admitted. "Well, we better go talk with them this time. Come on Lauren, your coming with us, Sean join in. Guys we'll be back soon," Hector told the others standing up. The others soon walked out the door and Sean and I looked at Mario, PJ and Shock. "This may not go well," I told them and we soon left. We walked through town before getting on the Metro over to where the church was and walked by it before reaching a few blocks near the house.
"I still can't believe Antigone wants a hotel for Francine," he told me. "I know right? One second everything is going the right away, next you know it's gone," I told Sean frustrated myself. "Yeah and honestly Lauren do you think there is more to this," he asked. "Yep. I definitely have a feeling this is part of Francine's plan to get Hector's attention again," I said. "What about Francine getting my attention again sis," Hector asked looking at us. I looked at Sean. "Tell him," he told me. "Francine has a no so hush crush on you," I admitted. "Francine what now," Jess asked. "She has a crush on Hector. More like obsessive crush," Sean told them. "Why," they asked. "Read the note and find out," I said getting it out of my pocket. "Where did you find this," Hector asked. "We found it walking the other day and I guess it might have slipped out of Francine's coat pocket," I explained as they read the note.
Hector's P.O.V.:
"Dear future Francine or should I say Mrs. Ruiz, in a few years from now or so. I will be dating the handsome Hector Ruiz. Who needs Lisa with him, besides he'll never like her. Guys don't go for blondes when they go for brunettes with power, responsibility and material. I love Hector that I wish to become his girlfriend right away," I started to read and the others looked and gasped at that note. "Yeah towards there it got more PG-13," Sean pointed out. "And rated R," Lauren chimed in. "So she's doing this, just to get my attention," I asked. "And the flirting too," Lauren added. "Note to self, I'm getting a restraining order for her," I noted to Jess and Lauren. "Okay, can we find them now please," Keith asked. "Yes, yes sir," we said and soon saw them heading over to the house.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"There they are guys. Follow," I said to the others as we walked over to the house. "Um Mrs. Carruthers, may we talk with you," Hector asked. Francine soon mumbled something to her mother. "The electricians? What do they want here? It's our day," she replied. "Okay does she not know the name is the Electric Company," I asked Sean. "Nope and I guess she will never," he admitted. "Mrs. Carruthers, hi. You probably don't remember us but do you mind if we talk with you about the Bookbinder house," Hector asked as she turned around. "Posh boy, the Bookbinder house? You mean the future home of the Francine," she said placing the sign underneath the plaque for the house. Sean just gagged as I laughed silently. "That is right Electric Company and friends, my mother is building me a hotel," Francine told us. "On this spot," I asked. "Yep. A little present for me. I know awesome right," she asked. "Uh no. Besides, we need to," Jess told her. "Now move along we have some mother daughter business to attend to," she told us before walking away. "Actually, we wanted to talk to you about the place," Hector explained. "You do," Francine asked turning around. "Yeah with all due respect this is where the book Goodnight Robot was inspired," Jess said holding up the book.
"Goodnight Robot," Francine asked timidly. "Uh yes, who else would write that book, C.S Lewis maybe," Sean asked. "Aren't you all old for children's books and should grow up," Mrs. Carruthers asked. "The question is actually, is Francine," Lisa said. "Pardon," she asked. "Yeah is Francine a little fan of this book," Jess asked. "No, not really. I grew out of it," Francine lied. "Liar, liar pants on fire," Sean muttered. "Yeah," I admitted. "Everyone loves Goodnight Robot even the radiator," Lisa started to say rattling a list but wasn't helpful. "Look Electricians," Antigone started to tell us. "Electric Company," Sean and I corrected. "Whatever your name is look, follow the example of my daughter and get away from silly childhood things and by the way get off the property this is trespassing," she told us before walking away. "Well that did not go as planned," Keith admitted. "Yeah and I tried to tell you guys the talking wouldn't work," I told my sister. "Sorry Lauren but we need to do something," Jess told us. "Yeah we just can't sit around and do nothing. We need to take a stand and save the house," Sean told us. "Sean, that's it," I told the others. "What's it Lauren," Hector asked.
"We need to take a stand to save the house which means, we have to get the community involved," I realized. "How," they asked. "I got an idea. Lisa, Hector, Sean you guys come with me. Jess, Keith, head on back to the diner we'll meet you guys there," I told them. "Lauren, what are you thinking," Jess asked me before leaving. "You'll find out soon," I explained. Jess and Keith shrugged and soon left. "Where are we going exactly Lauren," Hector asked as we were walking. "City Hall," I smiled. "Why City Hall," Lisa asked. "Simple, I have an idea to save the house," I told them. We soon walked into hall and we were surprised to see it not as busy on a Tuesday so whose counting? Sean and I walked over to the booth where Ms. Rosa was sitting.
"Ms. Rosa," I called out to her and she spotted me. "Oh Lauren, didn't see you. I thought you would be coming by," she told us. "Yeah honestly, needed to get stuff done. Anyway we need help," I told her. "I think I get that from you a lot and you just want to chat," she told me. "No this time is serious," I added. "That's what they all say Lauren, NEXT," she yelled. "No one else is in line," Sean pointed out. "Oh hi Sean. Alright, what can I help you with," Ms. Rosa realized. "We are trying to save the Bookbinder house from being bulldozed and changed into a hotel," I asked. "The Bookbinder house is being torn down," she asked. "Well almost. We just got word on it today," Hector shrugged. "I thought I heard something about it on the news," Ms. Rosa mused. "Uh, you heard about it," Sean wondered. "It was on the radio this afternoon," I told Sean. "Oh," he realized. "Yeah so we want to save it and I think this is important to our community. Got any ideas," I explained. "Hmm. You guys said its important to the community right," she wondered. "Uh huh, sure is," we nodded. "Well, my best advice for you guys is if it means much to the town you can start a petition to save it," she advised. "Sean, this is like the petition Hector's middle school student council placed for the house to be named a landmark here in town," I realized. "Yeah. If we can make a petition and have everyone sign it to save the house, it won't be torn down," Lisa smiled. "But who would we deliver the signatures to," Hector asked. "The housing preservation committee. There meeting here at noon tomorrow and if you guys get a certain amount of signatures by tomorrow, I can guarantee you all, they can save the Bookbinder house," Ms. Rosa told us.
Hector's P.O.V.:
"This is perfect. Thanks Ms. Rosa. We really appreciate it," I smiled. "Your welcome guys," she replied. "By the way, how many signatures do we need to hand it to them tomorrow," Sean asked wondering. "A thousand," she told us. "Time out a thousand, by noon tomorrow? Are you crazy," Lisa asked. "Nope. Those are the regulations," she told us. "Okay if I do the math correctly there's eight of us and we need a 1,000 signatures. So, we can make this work if we just split it by two," Lauren said calculating in her head. "Or how about we all have extra papers," I added. "Fine by me," Lauren shrugged.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Perfect you guys. I got clipboards and petition papers ready for you guys to get started. Anything else before I forget," she asked us handing supplies. "Oh. Are we set for the 9th of June with the building," I asked. "Yep. I just need Hector to sign this saying you are renting the place," she said handing Hector the clipboard to sign. "Okay there we go," Hector told her. "Thanks. Remember guys noon sharp tomorrow," she told us. "Got it Ms. Rosa, thanks again," we called out leaving. "Don't mention it," she said back. I smiled as Hector carried the crate and I called Jess. "Hey I was wondering where are you guys," she said. "Tell the gang, Electric Company meeting," I told her. "On it," she replied and hanged up. We soon made it back to the diner and saw our friends waiting for us.
"Got the items," Hector said placing them down on the table. "Thanks brother," I told him. "What is all of this," Mario asked. "You'll find out," Sean told Mario. "Okay gang Electric Company meeting listen up. As we know the Bookbinder house is in danger of being torn down and turned into the Francine but we the Electric Company are going to save it," I told them. "Yep. We need a 1,000 signatures by tomorrow in order to save the house," Sean added. "Hang on a second. A thousand by tomorrow," Keith asked stunned. "Yep," I smiled. "That's nuts," he mumbled to PJ. "I know but I have to ask how do we fit into this," Shock asked. "Were doing a petition to save the house and you guys are going to help get the signatures we need," Hector answered. "And to clarify they want 1,000 by tomorrow," PJ asked. "Yep. So Lauren did the math and we are thinking everybody takes two clipboards," Sean told them. "I think it was everybody grab a clipboard," I told him. "Oh okay my bad," Sean realized. "Okay before Lauren mentions who goes where. We got the building for the 13th of June so video shoot is on guys," Hector announced. "Perfect," Shock smiled.
"Okay, on the matter of Operation Save Bookbinder house, this is where everybody will be so listen carefully guys. Mario, Shock, Leo. You guys will be here at the diner. Make sure to verify the ones you get okay," I told them. "Got it Lauren, on it mam," Shock and Leo agreed while Mario saluted. "Keith, you, Lisa and PJ will be by the skate park. Jess, Hector you too at the basketball court. Sean and I will be over by the Church collecting them there. If anyone gets word of a Francine update, text Sean and I. We'll go from there and find out. Any more questions comments," I asked. "Nope were good," the others nodded. "Okay everyone grab a clipboard and lets get some signatures," I smiled. "Alright, yes mam," they said as clipboards left their mothers arms with smiles and pens clinging on as husbands.
"Oh before I forget guys, make sure to count how many you get okay," I told them. "Okay," they added. "Come on Lauren, let's get back to the Church," Sean told me as we walked out of the diner and got on the Metro heading to Church. A few people on the ride noticed our petition and decided to sign it which I was surprised because it never happens before to us ever. Sean and I reached our stop and walked right over to the Church to see school getting out for Our Lady of Fatima. Father Isaac was near the school and saw us. "Lauren, Sean," he called out to us. "Hi Father Isaac," Sean replied back.
"What are you guys doing here? I thought I wasn't seeing you guys when you altar serve next," he told us. "Were working on a mission in the Electric Company to save the Bookbinder house from being demolished. Want to sign the petition," I asked. "Of course. Come on over guys," he told us. We went over and he signed the petition and almost the whole school staff and parish crew decided to sign it as well which Sean and I were surprised. After getting signatures there, we decided to head back towards the Metro to get back to the diner. "Lauren, Sean," a voice called. We turned to see William coming by. " Hey Will, you are out of breath my man what happened," Sean asked.
Sean's P.O.V.:
"I was looking for you guys. There's a commercial almost everyone in town is getting," he told us. "What's it for," Lauren asked. "The Francine. Here I have it on video," he said pulling out his cell phone and playing the commercial for us. It showed Francine and Antigone planning what to do with the house and make it big for limos. Man, does it ever stop for her just to get what she wants. "Great, Francine is up to her tricks again," I muttered. "Looks to be that way Sean. How come we never got the commercial," Lauren asked. "I guess since were honorary members and we placed Francine's number on the don't call our numbers list I guess that changed," I shrugged. "I guess so guys, mind if I sign," Will asked. "Sure thing buddy," I told him handing the clipboard and signing his name. "Thanks for signing Will," Lauren smiled. "No need guys. Hey did you hear about Big Time Rush," he asked us. "Yes I can't believe it," we gushed. "I know. Hey I got to go, just wanted to tell you guys that. I'll see you later," he said before walking away. "Thanks Will," I called out to him. "See you tomorrow in school," Lauren told him. "Alright Sean let's do the math, how many do we got so far," Lauren asked me.
"If my calculations are correct with everybody at Our Lady of Fatima school and parish plus the people on the subway plus Will I think we have 30 signatures," I said. "Okay so that means we need 970 more to go," Lauren realized. "Perfect," I smiled.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Go and Shake it up what you got to lose, go and make your luck with the life you choose. If you want it all, lay it on the line. It's the only life you got so you got to live it big time," an object sounded in my pocket. "That's me and I changed my ringtone," I told Sean. "I thought you liked Jonas Brothers," he told me. "I did but now is BTR," I replied getting my phone. "It's Jess. Hey sis what's up," I asked picking up. "Good news sis we got 16 on our side of town how about you," she asked. "We got about 30 I think so that means if we do the math Sean 1630 is 46 so that means we need," I said calculating. "954 more to go," Jess told us.
"Okay. Hear any word from Shock or Keith yet," I asked. "Not yet. I spoke with Lisa though. Apparently some commercial came out for the Francine then she and Keith got a whole lot of people coming up to sign. I guess they didn't want to see the place torn down," Jess said. "Looks to be that way. Will showed us the whole thing just a few minutes ago," Sean shrugged. "He did," Jess asked. "Yep. I guess Sean and I didn't get it since we are honorary members of the Electric Company," I told my sister. "Looks to be that way sis. Hey are you guys coming back," Hector asked. "That's the plan Hector. Were heading on the subway right now and will meet you guys where Keith, PJ and Lisa are," Sean said. "Okay guys, see you there," Jess said and hung up. We soon got back on the Metro to head towards home and soon we got more signatures or so. Some were from our classmates in our different classes which was nice and that got our total to 100. They were telling us about the commercial and how their brothers and sisters worked hard to get the house named a landmark here in town. Guess they too didn't want the place to go bye.
After getting off the subway we went right over to the basketball courts to see Keith, Lisa and PJ collecting signatures.
Sean's P.O.V.:
"Hey gang, how's the signing coming," I asked. "Going good man. We got a whole bunch," PJ said showing us his clipboard. "Wow man that is a lot," Lauren whistled. "Yep it sure is. We doubled checked each one to see if it was legit," Lisa added. "Good call guys," I smiled. "Hey Lauren, hey Sean," Hector called coming over. "Hey man. How did it go on your end," Keith asked. "Good. We got a bunch like you did and honestly the commercial backfired on Francine," Hector smiled. "Sure did. Anyone heard from Shock and Mario yet," I asked.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Not yet. I hadn't heard from them since before we left," I mentioned. We all soon heard a song from the Lion King playing across the waves of air. "That's me," Sean mentioned taking out his phone. "You have a Lion King ringtone," PJ asked. "It was either that or I do Lord of the Rings," he told us. "Ah," they realized. "Hey Man what's up? Yeah we hadn't heard from you guys everything okay? Uh huh. Yeah, Shut up. Are you kidding again? Oh your serious? Wow. We'll be right there," Sean said answering. "Was that Shock," I asked. "Yeah, he just told me they got a whole bunch of signatures combined on the clipboards alone," he replied. "Wow. Alright gang, let's head back to the diner and do the math," Hector said. "Okay let's do it," we agreed and went back to the diner to see Mario, Leo and Shock still taking orders but everyone was signing the petition.
"Well, you guys weren't kidding about a whole bunch," I told them. "Yeah we sort of drummed the cause if you will by doing this little rap," Shock said. "Which went," Hector asked. "Allow me. It was something like hey yo other there lets go, bookbinder is being tear down just so you know. Yet a hotel in that place, I don't think so in its face. So sign the petition do it while you can and hey I'm Mario and I'm the man," Mario rapped for us. "Nice bravo," we applauded for him. "Thank you very much," he bowed. "Alright how many do we have," I asked. "You guys got 800 it looks like," Sean started to say. "800," I asked. "Yeah you get a lot more with music," Shock shrugged. "Lisa you guys combined got 120 right," Hector said. "Yep and you two got 89 so combined it is 1009! We made it guys," I smiled. "Alright whoo hoo," they cheered. "Okay we need to add our names to make it official," Hector said and we signed out own petitions. "Guys, it's official. We made the mark and next stop is saving that house," Jess smiled. "Alright come on guys," I cheered as we went out of the diner over to city hall.
"Mrs. Rosa we have some goods news," I called out to her. "You do Lauren," she asked. "Yes 1,018 signatures on the petition to save the Bookbinder house," Sean smiled handing her the papers. "Wow guys I am impressed. This is hard work but I have to verify each one though to make sure they are legit," Mrs. Rosa explained. "Oh sure," we thought. "You know I think this would be easy. I guarantee 100% no fake names on the petitions without a doubt," Hector smiled. "Uh do you guys live in the neighborhood with Mr. Nobody," Mrs. Rosa asked. "Huh," we asked confused. "Or a Ivana Million Dollars," she asked. "Hold on a second can I see," I asked. "Sure," she said handing the clipboard to me. "Uh Hector did you and Jess verify each one for sure to be safe," I asked. "We did but I guess the names came up unexpectedly when we were talking and that could only mean one person did this," Hector explained. "Francine," we realized. "Are the rest still legit Ms. Rosa," Sean asked. "Well according to what I have guys it looks legit to me," Mrs. Rosa answered. "Sean and I verified each one we got so are we still on track," I asked.
"Well honestly I think so sis but if we stay here and verify all the names and take out the fake ones it will be too late," Hector answered. "Okay. So what are we going to do," I asked. "I don't know Lauren," Sean shrugged. "I got it," Jess said thinking of an idea. "You do," I asked. "Yeah we do a read in of the book," she told us. "A read in? I thought you were going to say something like a protest or chain ourselves to the house," Sean thought. I looked at him. "It's what they do sometimes in movie and TV," he told me. I just rolled my eyes. "A read in is not a bad idea sis," Hector told her. "Thanks. How about we do it tomorrow? I know were all on early day at school so we can do it then," she thought. "Perfect," we smiled and left city hall to head back home.
(Next day)
Lauren's P.O.V.:
Sean, PJ and I were inside the Bookbinder house with Keith and Hector already in their respective costumes. "Okay so remind me again what this is exactly," Keith asked. "This is a read in Keith. Basically, you guys are dressed up as characters from the book Goodnight Robot and Hector reads the story to bring awareness for the petition," Sean explained. "In a way, it's sort of something to tell people to help save the Bookbinder house, in laymen's terms," I added. "Oh okay. Then I got one more question," he told us. "What's that cousin," PJ asked. "How come Hector gets to be the robot and I get to be the dog," he asked. "Well, it's because I make the robot look good and you chose the short straw when we were deciding this morning," Hector pointed out wearing the helmet. "You guys had to draw straws," PJ told us. "It was Jess's idea," Keith, Hector, Sean and I said to PJ. "Hmm but I think Keith can rock the robot," PJ shrugged "You think so PJ," I asked. "Yeah I definitely think so Lauren," he told me. "Yeah I could seem him in the suit. He would look good," Sean realized. "Not even me guys? I spent almost all of last night making this costume," Hector groaned. "Were kidding Hector. You both would rock the robot," I smiled. "Thanks Lauren," he grinned. "Go and Shake it up what you got to lose, go and make your luck with the life you choose. If you want it all, lay it on the line. It's the only life you got so you got to live it big time," my phone rang.
"I got it," I told the others picking up my phone. "Hello? Oh hey Shock what's up? You and Mario are here perfect. Lisa and Jess are making copies now. We'll be right there. Okay see you then," I said talking to him on the phone. "That was Shock guys. He and Mario just arrived to help with petition signing," I told them. "Perfect. And I called the preservation committee they should be here at around noon," Hector said to me. "Great," I smiled. "Guys, I have to admit this idea is going to work perfectly," Lisa said coming in dressed as Sarah. "Well, all the credit goes to Jess, it was her idea," I told her. "Yep," Lisa smiled.
Sean's P.O.V.:
"Well at least your not complaining about the costume because your dressed as a human," Keith remarked. "Oh, does someone need their ear scratched," she told Keith. "Yeah," Keith admitted and Lisa scratched his ear. "Oh Lisa, did you check to make sure no fake names whatsoever," I asked. "I did guys. Besides after yesterday, I learned my lesson. Don't want to go down the hard way," she told us. "Perfect," I smiled. "Hector you got the book, set and ready," Lauren asked. "On it sis," he smiled. "Okay, Sean and I are going to be outside and we'll hear in case of any new updates alright," Lauren told the guys. "Perfect. Alright then, Electric on three. ONE, TWO, THREE ELECTRIC," we cheered and soon went our separate ways.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
Sean and I were outside with Lisa, PJ and Jess as they had copies set to go on the clipboards with the petition papers on them. "Okay guys, hopefully this works," Jess said a little hesitant. "We'll be fine Jess. Just as long as we get more signatures we should be fine and the committee should be here sooner rather than later. They'll put an end to it," I smiled. "Easy for you to say," she muttered. "Hey don't be hard on your sis, she's being optimistic," Lisa told her friend. "True," she replied. "Goodnight Robot," Hector's voice rung throughout the house. "Looks like Hector is getting started," Jess noticed. "Sure is hi sign the petition to save the Bookbinder house," I said as people came by starting to sign the petition. "Perfect thank you make sure to get a bite at the Electric Diner when you have a chance," I told them. "Hey man sign the petition, thanks," Sean told him. I looked around the corner and saw Danny Rebus coming over. "BRB," I told the others and ran over to Danny. "Danny," I panted. "Hey Lauren you alright," he asked. "Yeah, can you sign the petition to save the Bookbinder house please? It would mean the world," I asked. "Sure. I was looking for you and Sean actually. Heard the news of Big Time Rush, they are finally making an album," he squealed signing the petition.
"I know right?! This is exciting," I smiled. "Lauren, we got code red. I repeat code red! Ms. Carruthers is approaching the house," Sean shouted. "Got to go," I told him and ran back to the house. "What is the meaning of this you five? Get out of the way your trespassing," she said trying to shoo us. "We can't do that sorry," PJ smirked. "I'm the owner and I command you to move," she told us. "That may work in your hotel but not here," Sean told her. "Yeah were trying to stop you from tearing down this landmark here in town," Jess smirked. "And there is nothing you can do about it," Lisa added. "How so," Antigone taunted. "We got the preservation committee coming in a few minutes," I told her. "Honestly if I were you, I would think about running," Sean suggested. "No, I will not. Out of my way," she said pushing past us. I got out my phone and texted Keith with code red. We quickly hurried up the stairs of the house not following behind Mrs. Carruthers and just stood in the door way. "ROBOT BOY WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS," she yelled at him. "My name is Hector for your information and this is to stop you from tearing down the Bookbinder house," he defended. "Well nice try Electricians because it's not going to work," she smirked. "Electric Company for the last time," Sean and I told her.
"Please like I care," she told us. "How dare you speak to us like that even me," I said looking at her. "I dare because I can and I should ask the same of you, young lady. Show some respect when you speak to me," she smirked. "No Mrs. Carruthers. Your the one whose suppose to treat my sister with respect. May, I remind you, she is destined for a greatness beyond any measure," Hector snapped. I could see Mrs. Carruthers eyes almost bulge out of their sockets when Hector revealed part of my destiny. She looked at me and saw it before her own eyes. "Well you guys are almost out of luck its almost noon, and no one is going to sign the petition and Francine will get that hotel," she said shaking off what happened. "She's right. I've been through everybody and we need one more name on here otherwise we lost," Jess added looking at the clipboard. "Yeah but we added ours yesterday," Sean pointed out. "I'll sign it," a voice said coming out of the closet. "Francine," we all asked staring at her. "I'll sign it. Mother, I don't want the hotel. I love Goodnight Robot and just remembered all the times we had together reading the book. It brought me close to you when you weren't working," Francine explained.
"I knew it," Lisa whispered. "So if I understand correctly, you don't want the hotel," she asked. "No. I'm sorry I should have told you sooner," she replied. "Well, its alright Francine. Honestly, I didn't realize to until now that many are willing to take risks for what they believe in. But, I think there is one thing I need to do," she told her. "Not going to buy the house," Hector asked. "I am Robot Boy," she replied. "Hector," we all replied. "Whatever, Hector but you guys inspired me to preserve the place which will be a present for my daughter and no one will never tear it down from this day forward," she announced. Francine hugged her mom and we were relived. "Pfew that was close," Sean smiled. "Yeah but hey things are working smooth sailing," I agreed. "Oh mother I believe you have something to say to them," Francine asked looking at us. "Oh yes. Uh, I wanted to say I'm sorry for snapping at you guys. It wasn't kind of me," she said looking at us. "All is forgiven Ms. Carruthers," Sean smiled. "Thank you," she grinned before looking at me and giving me a curtsey. I was confused but nodded my head in approval before they left. "Well, all's well that goes well guys. We did it," I smiled. "Sure did Lauren. I'm just glad that's over," Hector agreed. "Yeah for sure. So, who wants hot chocolate back at the diner," Keith asked. "Oh. I do," we told him. "Well, let's go," he grinned as we walked out of the Bookbinder house celebrating our efforts rewarded with a landmark in town being saved. In the end, another mission solved by the Electric Company.
