The Revolution and Donuts
Lauren's P.O.V.:
President's Day had arrived in Brooklyn and that meant no school! Whoo! Okay I'm kidding and serious at the same time. I mean who wouldn't want school. Anyway, Sean, Shock, Mario, PJ and I were sitting at the diner with Keith and Jess going over plans for Hector's surprise birthday party. Hector on the other hand was getting groceries for mom. We figured this would be perfect on how were planning the say around. Now, I know I said the 13th for everything but that's Jess's birthday and Hector's is the 3rd so I had to plan everything around in order to make it work. "Okay gang, so as we know, Hector's birthday is on June 3rd and were going to be in school that day so I'm not 100% sure how we can a shoot the video and b have Hector's birthday party," I told the gang. "Lauren's right. That is a tough nut to crack, why don't you tell Hector we can shoot on the 12th. I mean that would work right," Shock asked. "Well, I would say yes but the next day would be Jess's birthday and we wouldn't have time to plan her surprise party," I pointed out.
"Lauren's right. It would be unfair if Hector's was that day and you had to plan mine afterwards," Jess added. "I got an idea. Why don't we plan to shoot the video for the 9th and if that doesn't work we can do the 11th that way you and Hector can plan her surprise party," Sean suggested. "You know, now that I think of it, I think we should do the 11th. I mean we are planning the flash mob but I think were almost done right Sean," I asked. "Yeah I think we need to discuss with Will choreography and then we should be set. So I'm down for the 11th if that works for everybody," he added. "I'm in to. I can go with that," Mario agreed. "Okay, the 11th it is. I spoke with Ms. Rosa on the day of the house thing, so were set," I told them. "Perfect Lauren. How's planning coming for Hector's party," Jess asked. "The plan for now sis is we shoot the video as normal. Afterwards I'm putting Keith, PJ, you Shock and Mario on distract Hector duty while Jess, Lisa, Sean and I set up the party. You guys know to get there early to help Sean and I with our song right," I explained.
"Yep we know so were good," Shock smiled. "I spoke with my friends and they are lending equipment for the birthday party," Mario added. "Perfect. Any idea on choreography practice," I asked. "He's in Maui this week and will be back sometime next Thursday so we should be set by then," he answered. "Perfect. Now, I want to run this by you all but, what do you think if we did 70s disco music for the party like DJing a little bit plus some of the popular songs we know today, after all it is a 70s theme Hector wants for his birthday," I suggested. "I don't see why not Lauren, I like it," Keith agreed. "Yeah I'm in too, sign me up," everyone else agreed. "Okay that's what we'll go with," I smiled writing the notes down for Hector's birthday party. "Just in time cause here he comes," Sean noticed as Hector was walking near the diner.
"Remember hush, hush and no slipping of it either," I warned the gang as Hector came in. "Slipping of what Lauren," Hector asked. "You being the best big brother ever," I smiled. "Yeah it wasn't like we were planning your sur," PJ started to say but Keith nudged his elbow to stop him in time. "I mean the music video. Yeah we were going over details for the day, right guys," PJ caught himself.
Sean's P.O.V.:
"Oh that's right we were discussing that," I answered and the others were on the same page. "By the way, nice save," I whispered to PJ. "Thanks to Keith," he whispered back. "So, what about the video," Hector asked. "Were shooting on June 11th if that's okay with you. I know its not on your birthday but," Lauren told him. "No need sis. Like I mentioned, you guys don't have to plan it on my birthday besides we all have busy schedules, so I'm open to whatever you guys have, and if you choose the 11th, that's okay with me," Hector told us. I nodded at Lauren and she smiled at that knowing it would be perfect. "Alright, Hector agrees," Mario smiled. "Perfect. Now with that out of the way have any of you guys seen Lisa," Hector asked.
"She's at the library why do you need her for something," Keith answered. "I'm sorting of helping her on a project for school. She has to write an article about her ancestor for the school paper as part of the American Revolution project," he explained. "Ancestor," PJ asked. "A relative from a long time ago," Lauren answered. "Oh. Just like that project you and Sean did for school," he asked. "In a way yes, but that was different because we were discussing prophecies at the time," I explained. "But you do bring up a good point Sean," Hector said to me. "I do," I asked. "Yeah besides our family tree according to Catholic belief we are ancestors of Adam and Eve who were technically our first relatives," Hector explained.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"And even our family lines too show relatives like for instance, some people were related to the royal family of Russia like King George the Fifth, I think. I still have to read the textbooks," I recalled. "Don't worry on it to much Lauren besides right now, I need to know what are we doing the day of the shoot. Besides it not being my birthday," Hector asked. "Well we got plans all set and ready to go but we were thinking of a way to get people in the mood if we played 70s disco," I suggested. "Not a bad idea. I can dig the 70s music," Hector grinned. "Okay idea is in motion guys," I smiled. "Hey Lauren, any word on your thing," Keith asked. "Oh. You mean yeah I just got word from the company and," I started to say when a phone buzzed. "Alright whose phone," I asked. "That was me," Hector said getting out his cell phone. "You were saying," Shock asked. "Oh yeah. It's in the mail," I told them. "Hey guys, Lisa texted," Hector told us. "She did, what did she say," Sean asked. "Well she said hey you guys. Guess we got a," Hector started to say. "Prankster issue," we added afterwards. "Well this better be good," Keith agreed as Lisa came running into the diner at a fast pace.
Lisa's P.O.V.:
"Hey you guys got my text," I asked coming into the diner to see everyone sitting around. "Yeah what happened girl? I heard a Prankster issue is happening," PJ asked. "About that. It's a mix between Prankster and family," I told them. "What are you talking about," Lauren asked. "All of this started at the library with Annie," I said retelling them of what happened.
Flashback
Lisa's P.O.V.:
I was in the library getting up from my chair to grab a history book for my school paper that I was writing. I saw a book about American authors and decided to grab it when I saw Annie right behind the book. "Annie," I asked. "Oh hi Lisa, didn't see you there. Say your good with words and all, do you know a word for someone who helps out the bad guys instead of his/her friends," she asked me. "A Benedict Arnold," I replied. "Uh shorter terms please," she clarified. "A traitor," I replied. "Oh thanks I needed that," she smiled. "Okay. But why did you ask me? You know you could have used the dictionary," I told her.
"Oh. I figured you were near by so close enough I get. Anyway, what are you doing here," she asked. "Writing something for school. What about you," I asked. "Same thing as you are girl," she said with a smile. Something tells me this is going to go wrong, I thought. "Wait, your writing for the school paper. I thought Charlotte banned you after the cheese scenario," I told Annie. "Well, she did but she decided to give me a second chance by asking me to write an article about a person who lived 200 years ago during the revolutionary war," she told me. "Wow. Good for you Annie, I have to tell you I think it's great your writing about the Revolution. Besides, where would be without it," I told her.
"Uh under the United Kingdom," she replied with a smile. "Yeah I read somewhere that the Patriots aka the good guys fought the Red Coats right here in the neighborhood," I told her. "Yeah, yeah Lisa. About the article though I figured who I'm writing it about," Annie told me. "Oh really who," I asked. "Can I see the book," she asked and I handed it to her as she flipped the pages.
"Ah. Found it, her. She is known as perhaps the worst traitor out of the Revolutionary War traitors, Cordelia Heffenbacher," she told me. "Wait. Cordelia Heffenbacher. She shares my last name," I said out loud. "Shh," the librarian sounded. "Sorry," I mouthed. She shrugged no need. "Yep. Going to be a prize if I may so myself," she bragged. "Can I see the book for a second," I asked and she handed it back to me as I examined the picture. "She looks a lot like me," I said to Annie. "Oh. I guess you don't know about your long lost ancestor," she said to me.
"Long lost ancestor," I asked suddenly. "Yeah Cordelia Heffenbacher. I did some research and found out she is your great, great, great, great, uh great, great, great, great, great, great aunt," Annie said doing the math with her fingers. "How did you know," I asked. "Like I told you, did research by the way, I hate to bring bad news and admit this to you but, she was a traitor," Annie said to me. "I know the bad news part but how and why," I asked confused.
"Because she helped the Redcoats aka the Bad guys instead of her friends. Like you do," she explained. "Okay. I think that's far fetched Annie besides I think your ancestor during the time of the Revolution accused her of that not saying it wasn't true without facts," I told her honestly. "True but the book says everything," she smirked. "So what your saying is my ancestor is a traitor in essence," I asked. "Yep. Hit the nail on the head Lisa. Thanks to me with the research I have done, everyone in the neighborhood and Brooklyn High is going to know the truth about you. By the way smile," she said taking out a camera and started to take pictures of me. Okay, I need the gang and fast.
End flashback
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"And that's what happened," Lisa told us finishing the story. I was surprised along with the whole gang. "So let's guess this straight. You found out you had a long lost ancestor," Keith started to say. "Who lived during the Revolution," Hector added after him. "And is somehow accused of being a traitor," we all asked. Leo included. "Yeah pretty much that's it in a nutshell," Lisa answered. "You have got to be kidding me about this. Who in the world would make such a claim," Keith told us. "Uh Annie maybe," I shrugged. "I don't think so Lauren. Besides, if it showed in the book she was a traitor then it could be different," Hector told me. "Not sure Hector but I think there's a silver lining in this. Lisa, has anybody in your family mentioned Cordelia," I asked.
"Not really Lauren. Nobody mentions her in my family," she replied. "Okay so maybe it's a different Heffenbacher that Annie's referring to," Sean suggested. "I'm not sure Sean. The picture she showed looked a lot like me," she told us. "Do you have a copy of the picture," Jess asked her best friend. "I got it here," she said taking it out of her coat pocket and Jess unfolded the picture to see the face of Cordelia. Shock, Leo and Mario leaned into get a closer look. "Well, from what I can see is she and Lisa do share a resemblance but that can't be the case," Hector said to us. "No Hector honestly Lisa does look like her," Leo told us. "He's right. I can see a bit of the same hair, same eyes, same nose that sort of thing," I added in. "Okay so, this doesn't help us at all," Keith pointed out.
"Well maybe not but why don't we look for more clues," I told the group. "Good idea Lauren. I'm heading back home to see mom and see if she can help me with this. You guys want to come," she asked us. "You go on ahead Lisa, I, I, I achoo," Jess sneezed. "Bless you sis," I told her. "Thanks. I'm staying here with Mario and Shock," she told us. "You sure Jess? I hope your not coming down with a cold," Hector said concerned. "Don't think so," she sniffled. "Almost everybody is getting sick at school. Some bug going around," Sean muttered.
"Okay, what about you PJ," Lisa asked. "I'll come with you guys. Maybe worth getting some answers," he told us. "Keith, Hector, Lauren, Sean you coming," she asked us. "Coming," we called and walked out the door with Lisa.
Sean's P.O.V.:
"I can't believe you are somehow related to an ancestor whose accused of being a traitor," I told her as we walked. "Yeah well, I didn't know either till today guys like I mentioned at the diner. I mean it's like one second you don't know, the next thing is you find out," she told us. "I can imagine believe us. When Jess and our family found out Lauren's secret when she born we had an unexpected feeling," Hector agreed. "Hold on Hector, you never told me my secret. Remember the pact we made as kids," Lauren said to him referring to a code they made. "Yes I remember the pact but this is an exception to the pact only until the time is right Lauren. You'll know soon I think," he told her. "Okay. If you say so," she said to him. "So nobody in your family mentions her right," I asked. "Right. Honestly, I think the best way to check for clues is the family tree at home," she said to us. "Where do you keep the family tree," PJ asked her. "In the living room, it'll have the names of my aunts and uncles, cousins so we might get an answer there," she told us. "If you say so Lisa," we agreed and soon arrived at Lisa's house. Lisa soon unlocked the door to her house where we saw her mom painting a picture.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Hi mom. I'm home," Lisa called out to her. "Hi Lisa, hey guys you doing alright," she smiled. "Yep. Hi Mrs. H," Sean greeted. "Hey Sean, hey Lauren, Hector," she said looking over from her painting. "Doing some painting," I asked. "Yeah. Needed a break from all the hustle about. Can I get you guys some hot coco or anything," she asked us including PJ. "No need mom. Were sort of on a mission and we need help," Lisa explained. "Please don't tell me it's another Prankster issue," she looked at us. "It is," we replied. "And involves family," PJ blurted. "What," she asked us. "Yeah, long story," Hector agreed. "I know that but him," she asked confused. "Oh Mrs. H, this is Keith's cousin PJ. He's staying in town for a bit until his school can fix a pipe that burst," I explained.
"Oh. Now I get it," she smiled. "PJ this is Lisa's mom Mrs. Heffenbacher," Keith introduced. "Hi. Pleased to meet you Mrs. H," PJ smiled shaking her hand. "Pleased to meet you as well. Welcome to Brooklyn," she told him. "Thanks," he smiled. "Okay guys, I have it. The family tree," Lisa said as we walked over to it. "Good. We can look there for clues," I smiled. "Yep. So as far as I can see there's you, your mom Caroline, and all of your aunts and uncles," Hector said looking at it. "Yeah so I guess the good news is no mention of Cordelia Heffenbacher," Keith told her. "Wait, did you just say Cordelia Heffenbaucher," Mrs. H asked her daughter. "Yeah," I answered confused. "Why mom," Lisa asked. "Honey, I'm not sure how to say this but I was afraid this day would come," she said coming over and taking the tree down. "Mom, what are you talking about," Lisa asked.
"Yeah your not throwing that away are you," Hector added. "No guys, but Lisa, there is something I need to show you," she said holding the tree as we sat down on the couch and she removed the black sheep from the tree. "Cordelia Heffenbacher," Lisa gasped. "What," we asked getting up and looking at the tree. "She's your ancestor," Sean asked surprised. "Yes but we never talk about her darling," she said to us. "Why," I asked. "Because she was a traitor," she said solemnly. "With all do respect Mrs. H isn't that going a little far fetch would you say," I asked. "Not sure Lauren, but she did help the Red coats," she answered.
Hector's P.O.V.:
"Okay from one thing, this claim is getting un clearer by the minute. Do you know if she spied for them," I asked. "Hector, why would you ask that question, you know that's rude," Lauren told me. "I know sis. But this is important, I got to help my crush here," I pointed out. "True," Lauren nodded. "Well Hector it was worse than that, she made them doughnuts," her mom told us. "Doughnuts," we all asked. "Yeah. She did," she replied. "How do you know all of this," PJ wondered. "Here. It's in the back of the tree," she said turning it around as we looked.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"What are we trying to see here," I asked unsure. "Don't know Lauren. I'm confused as you are," Sean agreed. "Right here guys," Hector said looking at a little piece of paper that had the sketch of Lisa's aunt with the words traitor underneath. "No," Hector gasped. "Oh my gosh," Sean and I said stunned. "Well that explains one thing," PJ said as we noticed it. "Yeah it does but I don't understand," Hector said confused. "Neither do I. What else do you know mom," Lisa asked. "Well, she lived not far from here 200 years ago during the Revolution," she told us. "Oh she lived, during the time we were fighting the British. I knew Mario saying something about Hamilton would come in handy," I realized. Everyone soon looked at me.
"Hamilton," they asked. "Yeah. Mario's working on a musical. He told me about it over the Christmas Party," I answered. "Okay moving on. She was a wonderful baker and loved by everybody here, until one day it changed when she disappeared and didn't show up till days later when a British soldier was captured and when looking through his stuff, he found a doughnut that was Cordelia's. Lisa I'm sorry you have to learn this information. I know it must be a burden," she told her daughter. "I know mom and I think there is no way she could be a traitor," Lisa said standing up. "I know honey we all do wish to be that way," she added. "I'm going to prove it," she told us. "You what," we asked looking at her.
"Your going to prove your ancestor, is not a traitor? I thought you were going to start a musical number like in that musical Lauren saw where a character sang her father is not a traitor," Sean pointed out. "Sean I was nine besides I outgrew the American girl dolls," I told him. "You did? I thought Hector said he," he started to explain. "We donated them to charity," he explained. "Okay how are we going to prove it exactly," PJ asked confused. "Good point," I smiled. "Well my sister Mildred lives in the house Cordelia grew up in, so if you like I can call her, let her you know you guys are stopping by and see if she can help you," Mrs. H suggested. "That would be perfect. Thanks Mrs. H," Hector smiled. "My pleasure guys. I'll give her a ring," she said going to the phone. "Okay, we got a lead so let's go," I said leaving with the others before my phone rung with the Big Time Rush ringtone.
Sean's P.O.V.:
"Uh Laur, your phone," I told her as she looked at it. "Sales call," she told us before we got on the subway heading towards Lexington Center. Hector called Jess to let her know what was going on and honestly she was stunned like we were. We all bunched up together on the subway because it was cold, like really cold if you ask me. We soon arrived at our stop and got out of the subway heading over to the house where Cordelia lived. "Hey Hector, we almost there," I asked. "Almost Sean. I'm following Lisa so hopefully we get clues," he grinned. "Were here guys," Lisa called as we made it to the house. I could see it was still the way it must have looked like during the colonial days. "Wow, look at that Sean. This needs a picture for sure," Lauren told me. "Already ahead of you," I answered taking a picture on the cell phone.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"I still can't believe my ancestor lived here all these years ago," Lisa grinned. "Yeah me either. It would be nice though if I got to see where my ancestors lived," I shrugged. "You think so Lauren," Hector asked. "Think so. Besides, it feels odd when you see things that were different for them and us its changing," I smiled. "Yeah honestly them and technology won't mix," Keith agreed. "Come on guys, we got to help Lisa with some answers," PJ smiled. "Alright, were on it," we agreed going up to the house and Lisa knocked on the door. Soon, a woman came to the door.
"Lisa, so good to see you," the woman greeted her. "Hi Aunt Mildred. Did mom call saying we were coming," she asked. "She did. Come in all of you, please don't freeze to death," she said ushering us in including PJ. We stepped inside the house and it looked pretty cool of things from the inside. "Wow. Was this all of Cordelia's stuff," I asked. "Sure was Lauren. I have spent a while looking through this house for artifacts and fortunately, I found this box when I was little. I was curious to open it but I never did. Honestly, if it can help you find anything regarding the truth of Cordelia, it would be placed to good use," she told us.
"Wow. Thanks for letting me know of the discovery Aunt Mildred, I think this will help a lot," Lisa told her. "My pleasure. I'm going to go work on some other things but holler if you need me okay," she told us. "Will do," Hector grinned.
P.J.'s P.O.V.:
She smiled and soon we were left in the room. "Okay. Why don't we open the box and look for clues," I grinned to the others. "If you say so cousin come on Lisa open it," Keith grinned. "Okay I'm opening. Geez, did you guys fight over cereal this morning," Lisa asked. "No," Keith and I denied. "Liars," Lauren coughed. "I heard that," I told her. She waved it off as Lisa opened the chest. "Wow. Look at this. It's amazing," I said to the guys. "Yeah. This is all of Cordelia's stuff including her bonnet, and her clothes," Sean grinned.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Hey look her colonial dolls. The girl looks like the one Papa got you in Williamsburg Lauren," Hector told me. "Yeah it does look like her. Wish I kept her still," I smiled. "Hey no need to worry about it now," Hector shrugged. "Okay guys. What do you think," Lisa asked as she placed the bonnet on. "Now, you look like Cordelia," I smiled. "Yep," Hector agreed. "Okay, now that we have the chest open, I think we should start looking for clues," I told them. "Good point Lauren but where do we start," PJ asked. "I don't know. Got ideas Hector," I asked my brother. "Well they are some books so maybe we start there," he suggested. "Good idea," we agreed and soon grabbed the books from the chest searching each page for clues.
"Anything yet," I called to the others. "Nope," they replied. "Hey guys, I think I found something," Sean said to us. "You did," I asked looking over. "Well not really but we all can agree she did like reading that's for sure," Sean said to us. "Yeah. We can definelty agree on that but I don't see anything in the books whatsoever," I told them. "Lauren's right. I'm stumped," PJ admitted. "Hey guys any progress," Mildred came into the room. "Still looking," Lisa replied. "Honestly it may take a while but you guys want some hot coco and snacks," she asked us. "Sure. Come on Sean," I told my friend. "I'll stay here and help Lisa," Sean told me. "Okay," I smiled. "I'll stay with these two and help," PJ volunteered. "Thanks PJ come on Keith, let's go get some snacks," I said to the others as we walked to the kitchen.
Sean's P.O.V.:
While Lauren, Hector and Keith were in the kitchen making snacks, I stayed with Lisa looking through the chest of Cordelia's things and I could tell in her mind by the way she looked she was in thought. PJ looked the same way. "Is she okay," he asked. "I think she's thinking of her aunt. I mean it must be hard on her for this especially when it comes to Lauren," I admitted. "What do you mean Lauren," he asked. "Well not sure how to put this lightly in sense, but she's hiding a secret," I said. "She is," he asked. "Ask Hector to tell you later," I answered as they came back. "Hey, you guys want coco and cookies? Fresh out of the oven," Lauren smiled coming in with a plate. "Thanks," I said taking one.
Hector's P.O.V.:
"No thanks guys. Not hungry," Lisa told us. "Well more for me," I smiled. Lauren glared at me. "I mean all of us," I admitted before she smiled. "Hey Lisa, did you check this by any chance," Sean asked holding up a book. "No what is it," she wondered coming over. "Wait a second, that's Cordelia diary," I realized. "How were you able to figure it out," Lauren asked.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Says Cordelia right on the cover," Hector said. "Oh," we realized. "Now that we found it, there may be more to the story of Cordelia," Keith suggested. "Now your talking Keith," PJ and I grinned. "Here," Hector said handing Lisa the journal. "Okay it says here January 8, 1775 I ate turnip for the first time today and was delicious," Lisa read. "Uh what's a turnip," I asked. "A veggie that grows underground," she told us. "Okay, I think if we read more of the diary, we should get some clues," I proposed. "Good call Lauren. Let's see," Hector agreed. Lisa continued to read on in the journal while honestly we got bored. Keith and Hector were playing cards, Sean and I were going over choreography for the flash mob while Lisa read. I'm still stunned by this.
I soon took a nap afterwards while Keith, PJ and Hector did the same. Sean was the only one awake, I think but then again I was napping. "August 26, 1776 the best part of my day today was," Lisa read. "TURNIP," Hector said waking me up. "huh what," I said startled. "I admit I am sick of this. She wrote about turnips, dreamt she was one and was going to marry one. Guys please don't say it again, if I hear it, I'm going to lose it," Hector complaining. "Oh stop whining Hector. Besides something in here will show up," I told him. "Yeah it's not like there's another turnips," Sean told him. "Don't you dare," I told Sean looking at him. "Accident," Sean replied.
PJ's P.O.V.:
"Alright in honesty, I think the diary wasn't the discovery we were looking for guys," Keith told us. "I agree with Keith but how are we going to get more clues now," I asked. "Good question," Hector shrugged. "How in the world are we going to solve this now when we don't have anything," I asked. "Hold on PJ, I think I found something," Lisa said looking at the last page of the diary. "What you got," Lauren asked. "Right here on the last page. It says here there is more to my story that meets the eye, if you are looking for the truth use the code sorter," she read.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"Code sorter," we all said confused. "Yeah code sorter. Sounds weird," Sean told us. "Yeah well for starters something must be written in code," Keith suggested. "Or maybe it's a scrambled word," I said. "How can you say that Lauren? We honestly the Electric Company history," Hector said looking bewildered. "Well, maybe we don't know about the history because if people found out about the powers, they would be accused of being witches," I said thinking it out. "Lauren your point," Sean asked. "My point is unscramble the word and see where that leads," I explained. "Great idea Lauren. Let me put up the word," Lisa said placing it on the wall. "Okay if I do a little bit of this and that we got," she said unscrambling before stepping back. "Secret door," she said to us.
"Okay so, Cordelia is saying to know more, we have to check for a secret door in the house," I smiled. "Yeah but how are we going to find it," Hector asked. "Honestly guys I don't know. Besides if we were in a movie right now and I pull down on this rope to reveal a secret door I think we would be crazy," Lisa said walking over before pulling on the rope and we all heard something move. "Okay, that just gave me the creeps and a curious feel," I told them. "Did I just do that," Lisa asked. "Look behind you," Hector said stunned. She turned to see the door open.
"Oh my shut up," Keith gasped. "Man this awesome," Sean breathed. "Sure is. Come on, let's go find some more clues I think were getting somewhere," I grinned. "Alright," they smiled getting up and we walked into the secret passageway. I was amazed walking in and seeing all of this stuff lying around. Hector soon turned on a flashlight as we continued to walk into the door. My eyes were filled with wonder and curiosity as we looked. I couldn't believe this happened. "Well, we can agree this place is freaky and creepy at the same time," Hector admitted walking through. "You telling me and I agree," Keith added. "Not to mention, it's kind of cold," Sean shivered a little. "Yeah but we are getting close to solving the mystery which is good news, this is it guys," Lisa smiled. "You sure your going to be alright Lisa, even if its all true," I asked. "I think so Lauren, but I'll try my best," she told me. "Hope so," I agreed. We started to look around when I saw a painting.
Keith's P.O.V.:
"Hey guys, a painting," I noticed calling out to them seeing the picture. They came to the picture and pulled down the tarp. It revealed Cordelia with donuts. "Red coats," she asked. I could tell she was tensing up and so did Lauren looking at the image. "Cordelia must have been feeding the troops," Hector realized. "It was just like your mom said Lis, so that could mean," I started to pinpoint. "She was a traitor. Why did I get my hopes up for nothing," she groaned. "Hold on Lisa, don't say that. Sean and I found something come here," Lauren told us as we came over.
Lauren's P.O.V.:
"What are these," Lisa asked. "They look like to be notes. I think we may have found something," Sean said handing her a note. "Thank you again for keeping our troops going Cordelia, if it wasn't for your doughnuts we could have not beaten that pesky George Washington," she read. "So, guess she was a traitor after all," I sighed. "Looks to be that way sis," Hector agreed. "We're sorry Lisa, we know you wanted to clear her name," Keith said hugging her. "I know but I thought she was like me in a sense minus the whole thing on turnips," she said getting a little emotional. "True," we agreed. I decided to look around on the table to find anything else.
"Lauren, what are you doing? We gave up already after trying," Hector noticed. "Hold on, I think there's something else in the box," I told them looking at the box where the letters were. "Tomb of tales? That doesn't make sense," PJ saw. "Lisa," I told her. "On it," she said unscrambling the word. "False bottom," we asked confused. "Okay either this got weird or more importantly were going off the beaten path," Hector shrugged. "Wait Lisa, open up the flap," I said as she opened the bottom of the box to reveal more letters. "There's more letters guys, look," Lisa gasped.
"We see. Pull them up," I told her. "If you found my letters, then you are a true descendant of the Heffenbaucher family, look closely the truth is in thy pages," Lisa read. "Hmm," Keith wondered. "Don't stand there thinking, get another letter, I think this is it," I told them. "Found one," Sean said. "What you got," Lisa asked. "The British troops are starting to chase us to Richmond. Only you Cordelia, can slow them down while distracting as well with your doughnuts. Please Cordelia your country is counting on you signed General George Washington," Sean read. "Hold on, did that letter just say," I gasped. "George Washington?! As in the first president of our nation," we asked stunned.
"Yes. All of these letters from him. So in the end Cordelia, wasn't a traitor she's a hero. She helped her country just I like help the neighborhood," Lisa exclaimed. "Yes," we grinned and smiled. "I knew we would solve this in the end," Sean smiled. "Yeah but you got a great story to write Lisa and Annie is going to be in trouble," I sung. "Lauren Ruiz," Hector scolded. "Hey. Let your sister do it once," Keith grinned. "Thanks dude," I smiled. "I'm going to step out and Aunt Mildred the good news and then I'm writing the article," Lisa said. "We'll join you," Keith, PJ and Hector called stepping out while Sean and I stayed in the room. "Its amazing how it worked it in the end huh Lauren," Sean smiled. "Sure is," I said to him before noticing a glow on the ground. "Hey Sean, what's this," I asked picking up a gold coin and a small statue of a lion placed there. "I don't know Lauren but I think we should be heading back," Sean told me. "Yeah I think we should," I said as we walked out of the room, what were those items.
(3 days later)
Lauren's P.O.V.:
It has been three days since the search and finding out the truth about Lisa's family. I couldn't believe it still happened and we were able to solve it. The others were stunned and Lisa wrote an amazing article that was going to be in the school paper. Sean and I were hanging in the diner with the whole crew as we waited for the paper. "I can't thank you guys again for helping me. I'm just glad we were able to clear things up," Lisa grinned. "Yeah. I'm just happy that the Brooklyn Historical Society finally got to know the truth and the Governor himself," Hector smiled. "Yeah and let's not mention the Daughters of the American Revolution decided to induct Cordelia into their ranks after all with evidence we presented," I smiled.
"Yeah but overall, I bet your happy you got the name cleared Lisa," Jess told her. "I am," she grinned before the door to the diner opened. "Hot off the presses Electric Company. Read and weep," Annie said placing the paper down on the counter. "Doughnut hero: The Cordelia Adventure by Lisa Heffenbaucher," Hector read. "What? NO! That's not my article," Annie realized. "Hate to break it to you Annie, your story wasn't true," I smiled. "How can you say that," she asked. "We did research," the group answered. "But, I wanted to be famous, make you look bad is that not hard to ask around here," she told us. "Yes," we said. "Oh before I forget, we got a message from Charlotte, she says now your permanently banned from writing in the school paper and no more chances," Sean smiled.
"No," Annie yelled walking away as a diva. "What a diva," I told Hector. "Yeah she's not happy that's for sure," Keith agreed. "She isn't but I am. Glad things are back to normal and to celebrate Shock can you do the honors," Lisa told him. "With pleasure," he said bringing a plate of doughnuts to the group. "Guys, I present to you Cordelia's red coat doughnuts," she smiled. "Nice, alright dig in guys," I said grabbing one as the others did the same taking a bite. Sean and I soon looked green in the face. "Hey Lisa, what's in the doughnuts they taste funny," Sean asked her. "I think we know," Lisa answered. "Turnips," everyone said. Hey it tasted good but I couldn't help but notice the coin and the lion statue in my coat as I took them out. Danny was over by the diner and waved to Sean and I. "Uh Lauren, was Danny waving to you guys and what are those," Hector asked. Sean and I looked at each other. Uh oh!

Kendall's P.O.V.:
The guys and I were enjoying a nice day at the Palm Woods since we got a break from working. I walked around the park for a bit when I saw this gold item in the grass. It looked shiny and wasn't sure what to think as I picked it up to see a coin with a emblem I heard about. What is this I wondered? "Hey guys, you got any idea what this is," I asked my friends as they came over saying they got the same thing? What is this?
