Chapter 6
When the trio made it back down to the ballroom Susan intercepted the group, "Well Harry you and the girls were up there for a while, did you decide to leave me out of the fun?"
Daphne blushed, but Tracey just grinned on this go around of teasing while Harry said placing the back of his hand on the girl's cheek in response, "Susan you know that if that had happened we wouldn't have been back down so soon."
Having had enough to drink though the girl didn't back down, "Oh I would know, so is it time for us all to go up now?"
This time Harry actually turned out to be the one blushing and all three girls were giggling at his stuttering before his glare turned towards Susan, "I hate you."
"I can turn in my resignation as your partner if you just really just can't stand me anymore." Susan said cheekily.
Harry rolled his eyes, "Yeah yeah yeah. Where is Kingsley anyways he said he wanted to make an announcement. I was hoping we could skip the speeches this year, but he is Minister so what are we to expect?"
Harry excused himself from the group while Susan turned to the girls,"How did you like the tour?"
Tracey groaned, "It was amazing. We saw Slytherin's Locket, and the grounds from Harry's bedroom, which was amazing."
Susan slyly asked, "So you did end up in his bedroom?"
"Yes and it's a good thing he didn't try anything because I was feeling pretty woo'd. He would've had me as an easy target." Tracey admitted with a giggle.
Daphne shook her head while Susan laughed saying, "He can be very charming when he wants. By the way don't mention to anyone you saw Slytherin's Locket. There are some things that Harry tries to keep away from the public, and if it was ever leaked to the media that he had it people would demand to see it, and I am sure he told you why he never wanted it back in the public's view?"
Both girls nodded and Susan smiled, "Good. He trusts you. When he decided to invite you into his home it was a statement to everyone here. Which has worked itself out well because everyone has spoken highly of the two of you and the conversations that have happened so it seems like everyone has accepted Harry's trust in you...be careful with that. Betrayal has paid a high price with this group of people, so just be careful what you leak out in casual conversation."
Feeling properly warned, both girls nodded, and heard Kingsleys loud booming voice, "Ladies and gentleman, my friends, and people I could consider family in all but blood. I have an exciting announcement to make."
Everyone gathered around the main area and Daphne whispered to Tracey what was about to happen, and her eyes widened in shock while a smile split her face.
Kingsley then began speaking as everyone gathered, "Five years ago today this young man." Kingsley put a hand around Harry's shoulder and pulled him closer, "Stood against a threat no one could stop. He stood against a monster who terrorized our world for thirty years, and defeated him. This man before me could have had anything. His family is among the wealthiest in England. He could have retired on an Island, or sat here in his beautiful home with whatever he desired, but instead he picked up the badge of an auror, and encouraged some of you, the finest witches and wizards in Britain to join him. You all have been led by this young man, and have made incredible choices considering your options to try and make our world a better place, and it is for that reason…" Kingsley reached into his robes and pulled out a golden badge. This badge was different from the silver ones that all the other aurors carried, "Myself and my office have decided to promote Mr. Potter from his position as Captain to the head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement. The youngest in the history of our country."
The applause was immediate as were the cheers. Daphne and Tracey of course were the many who applauded him, and Tracey even whistled loudly. Harry merely took the badge from Kinglsey who brought the boy into a strong hug and exchanged words with him briefly before separating leaving Harry on the stage to speak to them. He continued to stare at the badge in wonder, and without looking up at the crowd he spoke, "It was once my father's dream to hold this badge. In a journal written by James Potter he talked of a world he wanted to live in with himself as the head of the auror department, his best friend Sirius Black, as his second in command, and his wife, my mother, Lily Evans as the first muggleborn Minister of Magic. He believed they could change the world, but that opportunity was taken from them before those very possible dreams came true."
Harry turned the badge over in his hands a few times, and still didn't look up to the crowd who were listening with rapt attention. Daphne looked over at Susan who looked like she desperately wanted to go give her friend a hug, but no one moved when he continued to speak, "But here we stand. More than twenty years later, and as his son it brings me immense pride that I am able to stand here and hold this badge for him. It gives me great pride to see my greatest friends standing among me to share this moment with me, and I look forward to sharing their moments with them. The fallen are here with us tonight, and they celebrate the golden age we are going to bring into this world. A world where our children won't have to fear for their lives, and fight in any wars. You have my promise that as long as there's breath in my body, and as long as I have the rest of you by my side, I will never allow a situation where an Orphan has to rise to a position that his father desperately wanted, but never had the opportunity to reach."
A few moments of silence, "I swear to uphold this position to the best of my ability. I swear to protect my friends and family, along with the people who believe in us to keep them safe, and most importantly…" a huge smile overtook his face, "With this badge in my hand I solemnly swear to get up to no good."
Some hands were slamming on the table at this phrase that neither Daphne nor Tracey understood, but it was clear many did as the applause that followed was thunderous, and Susan along with many others surged forward to hug Harry and congratulate him.
Handshakes, hugs, and a call for more drinks filled the next half an hour, and Daphne herself was given a chance to shake hands with many people who were departing for the evening, and some she barely knew apologized for not getting the chance to speak more with her. Among them were Andromeda Tonks, and a beautiful woman with a heavy French accent Fleur Weasley.
The professors were next to go, and Professor Slughorn shook her hand tightly asking that they have lunch sometime at Hogwarts to catch up, and maybe discuss her future, and how she might progress through Saint Mungo's ranks.
Professor Mcgonagall and Flitwick both spoke to her briefly saying they were happy to see her again, and hoped they had a chance to speak more at the next gathering for maybe Harry's birthday.
Professor Hagrid, who never was one of her personal teachers, even stopped to thank her for taking care of Harry while he was in the hospital. It was a sort of amazement that Daphne had when she realized just how tight knit this huge group of people was, and how easily Daphne and Tracey were inducted into it.
More and more began to depart when it came down to about two dozen or so people. It was all people from Harry's old defense group, along with of course Tracey and Daphne.
Just as the two were thinking it was time to leave, Susan came by and asked, "So are you two going to stick around for the duels?"
Daphne was pretty sure her eyes widened as much as Tracey's did when she heard the word duel, and Tracey asked, "There are going to be duels?"
Susan laughed, "Oh yes. This is the time of night where we all get black out drunk and watch the boys duel each other with no wands."
Daphne was pretty certain she didn't want to stay overnight, but this did sound incredible. Wandless duels weren't even practiced in Europe, much less in the United Kingdom, but the sport was extremely popular on other continents like Africa in particular. Daphne had always wanted to go and watch the pros do it, but something told her watching Harry and the other aurors do this was going to be pretty damn close. Tracey of course was already in, and Susan was laughing telling her, "Ron got hit pretty hard last year, but Hermione is a pretty damn good healer considering she has no real training, and we will have Daphne if she decides to stay."
Daphne conceded easily deciding this sounded really interesting saying, "I think I am in it sounds really fun. I would also be happy to help Hermione heal people, though I am not sure I should keep drinking if I am going to do that?"
Susan waved her off, "The boys don't do anything too crazy. It's really hot to watch though. So you two grab a drink and pay attention. Every time they lose they do a shot of cheap firewhiskey, and it is usually pretty funny by the time it's over."
Doing as requested Daphne grabbed an orange cocktail drink, and watched Tracey do the same as they watched a bunch of the guys standing in front of Harry laughing and egging each other on. Susan explained, "They are convincing Harry. Every year he says he isn't going to do it, but we've all been drinking for like what...five hours now? He's a lot easier to convince at this point. It's all good fun, and he knows it. Ron, Neville, and some of the other guys look forward to this more than the actual party. Besides, they all want a shot at the new Head of Magical Law Enforcement."
It was clear Harry finally conceded when the boys started cheering and three house elves arrived and began clearing away the center of the room to make room for the duels. The boys scattered however, shoving each other roughly, and Harry made his way over to the girls, "Healer Greengrass your services may be required tonight. Are you going to stay and keep an eye on all these chaps that I am going to have to put down?"
Tracey and Susan both looked at Daphne in surprise, because she was grinning at the young man, "I think I would be remiss in my duties as a healer if I let you beat them down too hard without proper medical care. You aren't planning to end up in my hospital room again tonight are you?"
Harry took her words as a challenge, responding cheekily, "Not your hospital room no, but somewhere else maybe."
Feeling bold Daphne said, "Maybe if you can win without being hit I will give you a prize."
Harry laughed, "That is a hell of a challenge. I don't think I can back down from that. You have yourself a deal Healer."
Harry waved his hands over his body as his red flannel long sleeve began to form into a snugger sleeveless tank top shirt, and continued to show off by transfiguring his jeans into a more elastic style of shorts. He then rolled his neck around, and called for Clyde to bring him and his friends another round of drinks while they all got ready. While the room was moving to prepare for the duels Harry had walked over to the side and sat down to close his eyes.
Daphne, who had been watching the man curiously, asked Susan, "What is Harry doing?"
Susan grinned, "Getting ready. He is putting himself in battle mode. Any ideas on his reward? Am I going to be sleeping alone tonight if you want to run off with him?"
Tracey laughed, "She better not go without me!"
Daphne rolled her eyes, "If he manages to not get hit by a single person then I will give him a kiss. I'm not the kind of girl to jump in someone's bed at a party because I drank too much."
Susan held her hands up defensively, "I wasn't saying you were! Though you may regret passing up the opportunity. You issued the honest challenge though, and I think we are going to see if anyone can manage to break him down. I will step in if I must."
Daphne immediately protested, "You don't have to on my behalf."
Susan chuckled, "Harry and I haven't dueled with wandless magic in a while and I practice all the time. With all the alcohol we have consumed, maybe I will get lucky."
As the boys lined up on the other side of the hall Harry's eyes shot open, and he stood strolling onto the ballroom floor floating ten glasses filled with dark brown liquid, "Alright chaps everyone gets the first round for free. Who wants to go first."
Harry pushed nine glasses forward as he kept his own floating in front of him as the men grabbed their drinks and threw them back. Ron and Neville were talking quietly amongst each other clearly trying to develop a strategy, while Seamus Finnegan took a step forward, "I ain't scared of yuh Potter!"
His thick Irish accent was coming out as he stepped into the circle. Harry grinned and turned towards an Elf that had appeared at his side, "Inky the Wards please."
"Yes master." The tall elf said disapparating out of sight.
Daphne immediately felt her hair stand up a little as she felt the magic of the house activate and a slight golden shimmer appeared in the middle of the ballroom floor encasing Harry and Seamus.
The three girls were sitting at the bar top watching the two men size each other up when Hannah, Cho, and Hermione had come to join them, as had Luna, and Ginny Weasley.
As the eight girls gathered around the floor ordering drinks from an elf named Blinky that Harry mentioned a few times Cho grinned out, "Ten sickles on Seamus going down in thirty seconds or less."
Hemione rolled her eyes, "Honestly Cho, can't we just enjoy-"
Hannah though immediately chimed in, "You're on Cho. It's going to take Harry a minute to get warmed up, and he doesn't like to embarrass anyone."
Hermione stared at the girl in surprise, while the others all giggled. Susan however separated from the girls walking straight through the wards, "Alright boys lets remember we all have to be friends after this. Fight to first blood or knock out. Inky, count them down."
Susan backed out of the circle towards the other gathered girls, while Hermione leaned over to Daphne and Tracey, "Susan is usually the referee if it's needed. She will make the call if it looks close or they do anything dangerous."
Daphne heard the elf's voice countdown from 3, and at 1 Seamus was already moving and flinging his hand forward with what looked like the knockback jinx. Harry merely lazily deflected it, and awaited more offense to come, and he did not wait long. Seamus was moving to the right trying not to stay still as he yanked upwards with his hands and caused the grounds to shake, but this time Harry moved both hands to stop the grounds from shaking and to reverse it towards the Irishman.
Seamus was clearly a little rocky at this point, and tried to hold his balance, but the alcohol wasn't helping his case. Harry however decided to open up his attacks with two stunners in rapid succession. The first Seamus dodged, and the second he summoned a weak shield that shattered on impact, and knocked him over, but he was scrambling trying to get back to his feet as Harry made the ground shake even more, and used the knockback jinx to throw him against the wards, and the young man slammed into them, and fell to the ground.
Daphne wanted to surge forward to check the man, but Harry flicked his wrist, and the slightest cut appeared on the boy's arm. Susan shouted out, "First Blood, Harry Potter."
The elf Inky reappeared in the middle, and fixed the cracked floor with ease, and made it look the same as before the duel had started. Daphne was suitably impressed, but had a feeling a lot more was coming.
Harry walked over to help Seamus up, and the two ended up sharing a glass of firewhiskey, that neither showed any recoil of the obviously high proof drink, so Daphne was unsure if it was the cheap stuff or the good stuff.
Dean Thomas had stepped up next, and Harry grinned at his old roommate, but said he wanted a go at Ron first, before he took a crack at Harry, so the young man bowed out of the wards, and went to speak with Susan.
While this was happening she heard a female voice, "So Daphne Greengrass, the Slytherin Ice Queen, how did you get an invite to this party?"
Daphne's eyes snapped to the youngest Weasley who was staring at her like she was bitter with her about something. Hermione however answered the girl, "She fought in the battle just like the rest of us. You know Harry wouldn't have invited her if she hadn't. Not unless they were romantically involved which you know would be none of your business."
Daphne was surprised to hear the pretty brunette Muggleborn stick up for her, but Ginny grunted, "Just think it's weird how she's never been here before. What's it to you Greengrass? Why show up this year?"
Tracey, who had never been able to stand watching people go after her best friend retorted quickly, "Harry seems to have a soft spot for our resident Healer. The feeling is mutual though, after all he is fighting for her prize she promised him at the end of the night if he can avoid getting hit."
This made Daphne blush a bit at the insinuation, and Tracey being her best friend obviously knew the prize wasn't anything explicit, but the little Weasley did not need to know that. Hermione however looked queasy, "Tracey I did not need to know what my bestfriend and my newest friend get up to at night together."
This caused all the girls to laugh except Ginny and Daphne, but the girl gave a fake laugh, "Well at least he moved on from Bones. Though I would never have seen him dating a Slytherin."
The distaste in her tone was obvious, but Daphne didn't rise to it merely saying, "Harry and I are just friends. The girls were teasing you. We have only recently become acquainted and exchanged just a few conversations."
Ginny seemed satisfied with this answer, and tuned into a fight between her brother and ex boyfriend.
Daphne wanted to be annoyed by the redhead girl, but decided she wasn't worth her time as she observed a much sloppier battle between the two men before her, and this seemed more like a brawl then the powerful duel she had witnessed before. Ron ended up making quick work of the tall Black man, and the others cheered at Ron's victory.
A few more matches were exchanged, and Harry took a seat next to Daphne in the middle of the match between Ernie McMillan and Anthony Goldstein, neither of whom Daphne knew of very well. Harry asked, "Something tells me the Slytherin Princess is not entertained?"
All the girls stopped their conversations, and drinks when Harry approached and began talking, but Daphne remained unconcerned of their thoughts, "Well I just thought you were really going to try and earn a prize from me, so far I am unimpressed."
Harry stared at the girl, and then a smile came to his face, "Alright Daphne. Alright."
Just as the duel in front of them came to an end Harry turned and entered wards immediately, "Longbottom, Weasley. Front and center."
Everyone ooh'd at Harry's challenge, and it seemed things were indeed about to get interesting. Tracey asked the group, "Is Neville pretty good, because Weasley seemed more like a battering ram than someone with the finesse to make this interesting?"
Hannah was smirking, "Neville is almost as good as Susan, they go back and forth all the time. Ron and Neville together are a hell of a team. We might see the head auror go down on this one."
Cho snorted, "I like the faith you have in your fiance Hannah, but there is no way they beat Harry."
Hermione however shook her head, "Neville's defense is excellent, and as Tracey said Ron is like a battering ram. Regardless they don't have to knock him out either, but just draw first blood. The combination of the two may just unseat Harry if he isn't very careful. Alcohol could play a part in this fight."
Daphne doubted Hermione's words, but only because Harry still seemed so composed despite how much he had drank tonight. She had heard that men with large magical cores took more to get intoxicated due to the fact that their magic makes their metabolism burn much faster than normal, and the magic itself can burn away the alcohol, but she had a feeling that wasn't just a theory as she watched Harry calmly prepare for the next duel.
It quickly became clear that Neville and Ron had hoped this would be the outcome, and had already come up with some sort of plan. Susan looked apprehensive at Harry when she called for Inky to call the countdown. Tracey elbowed her gently, "Looks like he really wants to earn that reward."
She noticed that the Weasley turned a little red at Tracey's words, but she doubted it was from the insinuation. She had realized earlier that she had brought Oliver Wood as an escort for the evening in hopes of making Harry jealous, and that didn't go the way she had planned. She also must've seen Harry escort Tracey around the hall earlier for food, and then he gave both Slytherin girls a tour of his home. It clearly wasn't a goodnight for the Weasley girls' confidence.
As the elf finished the countdown Ron and Neville split directions. One went left, and the other right, and both began throwing their hands forward causing stunners to zoom towards Harry. The first he merely dodged, the second he deflected back towards Ron possibly hoping to catch him off guard, but Ron had already moved out of the way and began advancing on Harry. Neville too was inching forward, but not nearly as fast as Ron as the Longbottom Lord began throwing spells as fast as he could move his hands making Harry actually have to move around to dodge the spells.
The blitz offense on Harry seemed to have been the most effective style, because it took only a matter of seconds for Ron to be a few feet from Harry. Hermione whispered, "They are actually going to win it."
Daphne too wasn't sure how Harry was going to escape this one. With a wand sure anything was possible, but at this close range with Weasley being quite a bit larger, and having allowed him to close in so fast, and being unable to escape with Neville keeping him busy it seemed this would be over.
Neville was moving forward now too as Ron closed the distance between Harry, and what he attempted surprised Daphne as he roared out attempting to punch the man in the face. Harry however ducked the first punch and palm striked the boy with some serious magic behind it knocking him several feet backwards. Neville however was now on him throwing actual wandless blasting curses that was unlike anything the two Slytherin guest had ever seen, but Harry's look of absolute focus that was borderline frightening as he began to create conjurations and swirl them around him to intercept stray curses, while still blocking and dodging others. Ron was back on his feet soon enough, but Harry had finally found the time to be offensive and with an immense show of power made a conjuration of water behind Neville and Ron and washed them forward as he tagged them both with stunners in mid fall.
Hermione gasped, and the others all cheered in approval. Harry however immediately turned towards Daphne and gave a very dramatic bow. The girls all giggled at Harry's show too Daphne, but Daphne merely kept an even face, and shrugged her shoulders as if to say she still wasn't impressed, which was certainly not true. She was amazed by Neville's ability to throw wandless blasting charms, but even more so by Harry's ability to conjure objects, control the elements, and shield. The head auror merely raised his eyebrows in response, and went to join his best friends, in a drink as the next few came forward.
Susan taking a break came over to the girls saying, "Wow I thought Harry was going to go down on that one, but he surprised us all once again. Daphne I am sorry to say that I may be your last hope."
Smiling at her new friend she merely sighed, "Oh well. I guess I will have to live with the consequences of betting against the boy-who-lived."
This made Tracey and the others chuckle while Susan grinned. Harry however came over saying, "Still not impressed huh? Will I have to build my princess a wandless castle before I get some reaction of awe?"
Daphne looked thoughtful at this while trying not to think about the fact he had called her his princess, "A castle would be nice. I do have to admit your conjuration of objects, and the elements were decent."
"Decent?" Harry echoed.
"Oh yes, very decent." Daphne said, taking a sip of her drink.
Ginny Weasley groaned, "Oh like you could do better Ice Queen?"
Harry easily came to her defense grinning at the Slytherin, "Give me three months with her, and I bet she could take down almost all of these old boys. This ones a fighter."
This finally made Daphne blush at the multiple compliments she received from Harry but Susan put an arm around her, "Maybe it will be my turn to teach the wandless dueling. Take Daphne here as my protege, and next year we will take you on Harry."
The man chuckled, "You two on a team sounds frightening. I look forward to it. Now Susan, are you going to step into the ring with me this evening?"
"Propositioning me in front of all these ladies Harry, have you no shame?" Susan asked cheekily.
Harry rolled his eyes, "No I don't, but I also don't want to scare poor Hermione so let me clarify if we are going to duel tonight?"
"With clothes on? Oh I suppose so. Not nearly as fun though." Susan said, sipping at her drink.
All the girls were laughing now even Hermione who was initially only shaking her head at the two. Harry merely grinned, and bowed to them all while Luna said, "Dueling with your clothes off Harry I didn't know that was something you were interested in? You never invited me!"
For the second time that evening Harry blushed and Susan roared with laughter throwing her arm around Luna, "Yes Harry why haven't you invited Luna to duel naked before?"
Holding his hands up in surrender he began retreating slowly, "Okay you win, you win. I'll be going."
Susan patted the boy on the cheek as he retreated, and the others all cried out with laughter. Hermione was smiling and shaking her head, "He's not completely gone from the boy we grew up with."
Smiles of affection towards the man followed as some other wandless matches took place, and the drinks were coming in much faster as the matchups got more interesting.
Harry ended up taking on Oliver, Dean, and Seamus with ease, and Neville even took down Anthony and Terry Boot at once. Finally the night began to wind down though when Harry gave a last call for the duels.
Daphne had a nervous feeling in her stomach that she was going to be kissing the new Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement soon when Harry called for Susan to join him in the middle. The girl grinned as she stepped into the wards and paced over to the opposite side of Harry. Harry however didn't call for the countdown right away. Instead he just looked at the girl with a look of pride, "Well Sue, I guess since I am the head honcho now we are going to need a new Auror Captain. I am going to need a second in command. What do you say?"
He pulled out a silver badge and levitated across to the girl, while all the remaining people clapped and cheered. Susan looked genuinely surprised by the badge as if she didn't realize what it meant when Harry took the head of the department spot, and looked almost sad to accept it, but Harry said, "You're always still going to be my partner, but these boys need a woman to strike the fear of Merlin into them, and let's face it Hermione is too nice."
This led to more laughing and Susan looked like she wanted to tear up, but instead said quietly, "You know what this means to me."
Harry merely dipped his head and Susan nodded her head in appreciation, "Very well. I do accept."
Ron shouted out first, "Let's hear it for Captain Bones!"
Roars of approval followed and Harry just winked at the girl across from, while a look of determination crossed her face, "You get to tell Kinglsey that I am taking the head spot if I knock you on your ass here."
The man let a smirk cross his face, "Come and get me."
At this Harry snapped his fingers and Inky's voice called the countdown. Everyone watched in anticipation when Tracey finally said, "Five galleons that Susan takes him down."
It was a bad bet, but for some reason no one decided to take it. When the countdown was over for the first time Harry struck first. With a roll of his hands he summoned a fireball and hurled it at Susan who stopped it in mid air and redirected it into the wards, and she followed this pulling the tile up from the ground and hurling it at Harry, who had waved it aside into the wards making them crack on impact. Susan however conjured several birds, set them on fire, and then made them fly towards Harry. He however threw a blast of what looked like electricity and made all the creatures fall to the ground instantly, and made the motion of an archer drawing his Bow, and suddenly an arrow went launching at Susan. The onlookers gasped, but she merely turned it into sand and allowed it to hit her.
It was official. Daphne never in a thousand years wanted to piss off Susan Bones, and in ten thousand years and a small army she would never want to be on the battlefield across from Harry Potter. Hermione Granger shook her head with a small smile, "She is amazing. She pushed herself harder than anyone else when I was the Head Auror. Harder than Harry even."
Ginny who was holding a glass of firewhiskey said, "Yes, but she can't beat Harry."
Hermione nodded, "No she can't, but would you want to fight her?"
This shut Ginny up instantly, and Daphne said, "Those two could've been the power couple of the century."
Hannah answered this though, "But neither of them could give the other what they both so desperately want. A family. It's sad, but it's beautiful too. They have become almost as good of friends as I have with Susan myself, and we have been friends since we were in diapers. Had Harry been sorted into Hufflepuff and had Susan been at his side the war probably would've ended sooner."
They all watched as the two performed incredible feats of magic, but finally Harry rolled his hands together and froze the entire ground, and began to make it rumble which made the wards seem to shake, and a blast of wind went through the area knocking Susan down.
She didn't go down without a fight though. As she began to crawl backwards Harry was barraging her with stunners now, but with a yell of exertion she conjured small icicles throwing them at Harry, which one happened to knick him on the cheek. Faster than Neville could call it he bound her with the incarcerous charm, and bowed his head accepting his defeat.
Harry looked stunned, and Neville immediately shouted out, "First blood Captain Bones!"
Susan looked exhausted, "Always trying to tie me up Harry?'
He smiled at her, vanishing the ropes and calling for more drinks, and crying out a toast, "To Captain Bones!"
Daphne and the other girls had all gotten up to approach the wards around Susan except Ginny who had remained behind looking surprised at the outcome. Susan had the biggest smile on her face as Harry was talking quietly to her. Daphne caught the end of it, "That was a brilliant move, but looks like the student has become the master."
They embraced tightly and grabbed glasses from Ron and Neville who had taken down the wards ending the dueling with the best round of the night. Harry turned to Daphne smiling, "Seems I will not have the luck of winning your prize tonight, and may I suggest that perhaps Susan is in need of protege if you want to learn wandless dueling she is as good as they come."
Susan was hugging all the girls in excitement of finally having beaten Harry in the practice duel, but Daphne didn't believe for a minute she would've stood a chance if it went beyond first blood. Still the fact that Susan had won was excellent after watching Harry man handle two and three opponents at once. Susan came over to Daphne surprising her with a hug, "Harry is head auror, I am Captain Bones, and I finally beat his ass in the duels tonight we need more drinks!"
(A/N) One more chapter for the party, and then we will move on with the story. I have been quite happy with the response this story has been receiving, so I am also happy to continue providing weekly updates.
This chapter was mostly further character development, and showing the group of friends on top of the world. This good cheer will continue for a few more chapters before we get into our main plot, so enjoy the good natured fun while it lasts!
To answer reviewers:
To ThunderOfDeath97:
Nah if Rowling said it and that makes it Canon then the number of Plot Holes, and just absolute wrong continuity would increase through the roof! I only consider the seven books, and the two Fantastic Books movies absolute Canon. Watch that CarlinBrothers video I mentioned in the last chapter, and they will 100% explain why that is the only way it can be done for canon to have any sort of flow that makes sense. Still appreciate your review, and confirm that you can continue to skip the Cursed Child without missing anything exciting!
To Hank 1967:
To my knowledge Potter Manor is never actually mentioned in Canon. It is something that FanFiction writers have used as a Plot Device to replicate something similar to Malfoy Manor. I am not 100% on that, but pretty certain. Thanks for reviewing!
To DriftWood1965:
I completely agree with you that Draco is a scumbag. Never liked his character, and very rarely have I ever used him in my stories for anything but small forgettable roles. But to answer your question, Yes that was actually even a deleted scene from the movie as well with Draco tossing Harry the wand. I kind of liked the possible plot point it brought up though, and I thought I might factor it into the story a little later, so I am abusing what I consider canon and non-canon, but that's why you write AU's anyways! Thanks for reviewing!
To Greengrass Rebel:
I may have made a mistake, and if I did I will go back and fix it. There is a Head Auror and an actual Head of the department. In Canon Book Five, Rufus Scrimgeour was the Head Auror, while Amelia Bones was the Head of the DMLE. They are two different positions! Thanks for reviewing.
Thanks again to all those who left reviews merely complimenting the story. I appreciate all of you guys, and feel free to leave questions for me, and I will be happy to answer them. See you all next Wednesday.
