It had been a few weeks since Nick had left, and Judy was feeling a bit lost. She kept trying to study but would find herself daydreaming about meeting up with Nick. She had a picture framed on the desk of her room. As she looked at it she remembered that day. They knew they would be seperated soon, so she had asked him to meet in their tree. She sat in his lap on the branch, and rested her head on his shoulder. He was gazing at her with his arms and tail wrapped around her. They were both smiling, but no matter what she had done when she asked him to smile for the camera he just smiled at her.

She missed the goofball. As she stared at the photo, she heard her phone go off. She decided to check the text and was supprised to see it was from Rosa.

Judy meet me in the garden please as soon as you can. Its important.

She jumped up and quickly got out the door. She hoped nothing was wrong, but couldn't think of any other reason she would need to go asap. She was supposed to hear from Nick through Rosa, but she figured they would meet up or call when it was convienient. This seemed urgent. She took the stairs two at a time and was panting slightly when she reached the top. Looking around she assumed Rosa would be in the center at the tree.

"Judy" she heard from close to the tree "Im over here. I have a surprise for you." Rosa said waving a paw at her new friend. Judy waved back and headed over.

"Hey Rosa, Whats going on?" she asked trying not to sound worried. Rosa picked up on her slightly concerned tone, and smiled.

"not to worry Judy, Nick is ok. He and Donnie did something to make it easier for you to talk to each other." she said gesturing to a hole in the tree.

Judy looked it over with a confused look before turning to rosa, "Ok? What am I looking at?" she asked feeling very confused.

Rosa chuckled "Its a two way portal to where they are. You can put in a letter and Ill show you how to activate it. Then Nick will get it wherever they are and be able to send one back. Whatever fits in the hole can be sent and he has one exactly like it so no worries about any packages you want to send being crushed. I even brought you some paper and pencil so you can write him now if you like and I can show you how it works." she said and pulled a small notebook with a pencil tucked neatly in the spiral.

Judy took it and looked at Rosa excitedly, "this is great! Now I have a way to talk to Nick! Do you mind waiting while I write to him?" She asked.

"No problem Judy, Take your time." She said and walked a little to the side so Judy could have some privacy. She picked up a book and started reading.

Judy took a moment to collect her thoughts and tried to remember everything she wanted to talk to Nick about, and then sat to write.

Nick,

Rosa just told me about this new way for us to communicate, so I thought I would write to you. I have had a few things on my mind as of late, and couldn't talk to you so Its been driving me crazy. I miss you so much. I have a picture of us on my desk and I find myself staring at it instead of working. It hasnt stopped me from doing my studies, it just destracts me for a bit. I know I know we bunnies are so emotional. Anyways on to my questions.

I know almost nothing about fox mating habbits. Can you tell me more? I plan to study up, but I wont know whats true and false or what would be different between us until you tell me. Do you know anything about rabbits? Im curious where your knowledge is, and I can fill you in a little if you like. I know we havent been dating long, but I wanted to talk about these things. I am the kind that once my mind is made up I don't stop until I get what I want. Maybe thats crazy, but I feel you want the same out of this relationship as I do.

This letter wont be supper long, as Rosa is waiting patiently for me to finish up so she can show me how to work this hole. Very interesting idea by the way. Maybe we can use it for something else in the future. Like maybe a way to make it bigger so I can just send myself to you? Haha I know that wont happen any time soon. I hope your doing ok Nick. I am ok here, just missing you and trying to work tword our goal. Write back when you can, and let me know if I can do anything to help you. I look forward to your letter. Stay safe!

She read back through the letter before folding it up and walking to Rosa. She stood patiently while Rosa finished her chapter. Rosa put her bookmark in and then stood up smiling at Judy, "Are you ready?" she asked. Judy nodded and they walked back over to the tree. Rosa showed her to put the letter in the hole and make a strange pattern on the bark while thinking of Nick.

As Judy traced her blunt claw over the bark, the pattern she drew appeared as an indention in the bark. This surprised her, but she kept going while picturing Nick in her head. When she finished the hole closed up and reopened to reveal it was empty.

Rosa looked at her after all this and smiled. "Now you know how to send letters to him. Ill check every day to see if he has responded so you can focus on your classes. Ill let you know when there is one here!" she led Judy tword the door as they talked. "Ill have to get going. I have some paperwork that I need to catch up on. Any questions?"

Judy smiled up at her friend as they walked, "Nope I think that's everything I need to know. Thank you so much for all your help. If I can do anything for you, let me know." They shook paws and headed their own ways. Judy couldn't wait to get a response.
