Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Sun and the Inventor. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own MLP, Hasbro and a few others do.

To Celestia? There was nothing on Equus or Equestria that surprised her since she retired. She had spent 1000 years and then some governing and protecting her kingdom.

However? The former princess and raiser of the sun was bemused. One couldn't say they had an otter atop their head.

She was caught off guard by a Pegasus who skidded around the corner and slammed into the ground. He landed in front of her hooves which caused him to blink.

"Ow." The Pegasus stated as the otter atop her head looked at her with interest. "Flotsam, why do you always….?" The Pegasus started to say before he realized who he was talking to.

It was within those few seconds that Celestia realized the Pegasus was hurt. She could see that his right wing and leg had been replaced by cold steel. The Pegasus finally snapped from his stupor and slowly lifted his head to Flotsam.

Celestia could only inwardly chuckle. If it was any one of her subjects? They wouldn't dare approach her out of fear.

Flotsam seemed to find her mane as comfortable a nest as anything. The Pegasus was currently trying to figure out how to grab the animal without bothering the former princess.

'My little ponies always find some way to make me smile.' Celestia thought to herself before the Pegasus spoke.

"I'm so sorry, your highness!" The Pegasus said before glaring at Flotsam. "Flotsam, down! Your always getting into trouble!" He hissed as well before Celestia hummed.

"It's quite alright. He's just curious who I am." Celestia said with a slight smile gracing her lips. "And you don't have to address me like that. I'm no longer your princess. Just Celestia now." Celestia said as the Pegasus stopped trying to grab Flotsam from her waving mane to speak.

"Maverick… The otter who's trying to use your mane as a uh… Nest?" Maverick said while tapping his hooves together. "That would be Flotsam… Who does this all the time because I think respect is the one thing he DOESN'T have?" Maverick said as said otter leaned over her head.

Celestia giggled at the animal and tapped it playfully on the head. Maverick scratched at the back of his head while chuckling nervously.

"I didn't expect to see anyone like you grace our humble town." Maverick said while rubbing his hooves together. "I hope I didn't smash into you. It's not easy to run when one of your hooves is well… Artificial." Maverick said as Celestia turned to the Pegasus.

"Your wing is also broken." Celestia said with a frown gracing her muzzle. "How did you hurt yourself so badly?" Celestia questioned as if she had been personally hurt by this.

She might as well have been in her book. Celestia hated the idea of her subjects being harmed…. And the last time she had control of the throne? All of her subjects had almost been killed.

"Um… That's a very long story and I would hate to bother you and…" Maverick stated to state while gesturing to the side. "Your sister… I'm really sorry about Flotsam." Maverick stated and hummed.

Celestia could only hum mentally. Luna was still wandering around town somewhere… Mainly because she usually didn't spend entire days being awake and was quite unused to it.

"I'd like to hear it." Celestia stated as she looked at Flotsam. "I have time… In addition? I'd be happy if somepony gave me a conversation." Celestia added as Maverick blinked.

There was nothing he could think of in response to that. The inventor simply turned to look at Flotsam.

"I don't mean to impose…." Maverick said and turned his gaze to the ground.

Celestia smiled and hummed before gently tapping the Pegasus on the head.

"I would enjoy the company, Maverick." Celestia said before straightening up.

Maverick said nothing and simply turned to follow after the princess. It wasn't like he could say no. One didn't just deny the former princess of Equestria her request.

"Ok, uh…. What do you want me to begin with?" Maverick questioned as he turned to the former monarch. "Because some of the details as to why my wing is damaged? Their not the most pleasant as I'm sure you'd understand. I'm really sorry for Flotsam still. He loves running around and I guess he figured your mane would be a great nest." Maverick stated with a hum.

He knew Celestia wouldn't be upset at him, but it was still nerve wracking in his case. One didn't simply talk to Celestia without freaking out.

"Just start at the beginning. I can assure you I've heard worse." Celestia said while Maverick sighed.

"Well, the crash happened when I was a foal." Maverick started to say as they walked. "It was pretty horrific accident, smashed up my wing till I had to replace it." Maverick stated.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter wont be for a few months and such. Next chapter will be in 2-5 months and will show Maverick and Celestia talking and bonding. It will also talk about Maverick's past more and about how he met flotsam. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
