Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Sun and the Inventor. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own MLP, Hasbro and a few others do.

Maverick hummed and looked over a piece of metal he was busy working upon. The small curves, the individual ornaments, every single piece he made was almost always custom.

"Ok… Time to go meet up." Maverick stated, turning to a chair next to him as he looked next to his chair as he hummed and looked at it with interest.

An aviator like jacket sat leaned over it. A gift from his great grandfather: Thunderbolt Twister. He rather had very fond memories of said family.

"Hmm…" Maverick stated as he gathered up the jacket, pulling it up him and opened the door.

He knew for a fact that Celestia wanted to see him… Part of him was quite curious as to WHY. He hummed and threw himself out the door before he flew up into the air as he looked around, trying to find a glimpse of the familiar rainbow mane he knew about.

"Ok, where are you?" Maverick questioned to himself as he looked for the former princess. "Oh…!" Maverick stated while he swooping downwards towards the dock.

Celestia blinked before hearing the sound of wings as she turned to see Maverick swooping downwards while he rolled into a crouch and landed.

"Maverick, it's good to see you." Celestia stated as she turned to look at him while Maverick folded his wings back to his sides.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting, I had to take some orders." Maverick responded, scratched while slowly walking to the edge of the dock. "So… How are you doing?" Maverick asked, looking out at the ocean as Celestia joined him.

Celestia looked at Maverick who stood up as he turned to look at her, curious as to what she was thinking about what she was planning to do.

"I'm fine, Maverick." Celestia said, her lips parting in a smile as he hummed and blinked. "I don't believe you've actually told me about your profession." Celestia to which Maverick shrugged as she hummed.

"Oh? I'm a metal worker and somewhat of an inventor." Maverick responded which caused him to blink as he rubbed at his wing. "I usually don't work that much outside once or twice a week. I have to order materials I can't mine around here." Maverick stated while Celestia nodded.

"Ah, that would explain things." Celestia said, gazing out at the water. "It's nice here, I've been through enough to believe I'll enjoy it here… If only Luna could figure out what she wanted to do." Celestia added to which Maverick turned to her.

"Your sister doesn't like Sliver Shoals?" Maverick asked and got a shake of the head. "Then I'm guessing she doesn't just know what to do at the moment." Maverick added.

"It isn't easy when you have a millennium of work behind you." Celestia added while gesturing with her hoof to the water. "I'm not entirely sure what I wish to do with my remaining years. It must be nice to know what to do next." Celestia responded to which Maverick hummed.

"Oh? It wouldn't call it that, Celestia." Maverick said while cracking his hooves and grunting in pain. "I rather like the fact that you DON'T know what's life like. The uncertainty is fun when you don't know what's next… I uh, mean that when we AREN'T dealing with invasions." Maverick said, awkwardly looking at his hooves.

Celestia smiled, rather amused at that answer. She leaned down while Maverick sat down on his hooves.

"I rather like that answer, Maverick." Celestia responded while Maverick blinked and turned to her with shock. "I do rather enjoy things you can chose. I just don't know what to choose, honestly. You don't know what life will bring next, it makes life interesting." Celestia added while Maverick hummed as he flapped his wings.

"Hmm, I'm curious as to what things will bring tomorrow." Maverick stated and slowly folded his wings back inwards. "Would you like me to show you some of the work I do? I'd be rather ok with things." Maverick asked her as he brushed at his face with his good hoof.

"Oh, you like me to see the metal working you do?" Celestia asked, her voice sounding playful which made the stallion blush.

"If you uh… Think it's within your time, yeah." Maverick added, looking at his bad hoof. "I do need some time to think about what to do next, you know? Not really a lot of fun things to do yet come to mind, not unless you want to relearn all the city's history, I'm sure a librarian would know better than me." Maverick stated while he cracked a smile.

Celestia slowly took a seat next to Maverick as he thought about the city. He looked at her, simply enjoying company or such. He couldn't really think of anything to say at the moment, however, limiting his words to almost nothing currently.

Celestia rather enjoyed the break from the ruling she did.

Author Notes

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to apologize for the chapter being short. I intend for next chapter to be rather longer or such. Next chapter will be 900-1500 words and will show more talking and set up a day out for Celestia and Maverick. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
