Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Sun and the Inventor. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own MLP, Hasbro and a few others do.

"You know, I've been here so long I almost DON'T know what you see here." Maverick said, folding his hand over his metallic hoof. "With all due respect? Don't take it personally, I've lived here for the last decade or so, my time here has made it much easier to relax. I haven't seen a lot outside of Silver Shoals." Maverick added as Celestia nodded, setting her hooves under herself a moment later.

"Yes, it would make sense. You live in Cantorlot for a few centuries? You begin to get used to the city." Celestia responded as Maverick hummed. "Has Silver Shoals lost it's luster for you or is it simply because of HOW LONG you've lived? It's not insulting to say so." Celestia questioned while Maverick rubbed at his chin with his good hoof.

"No, it's just not as jaw dropping at all times, you know?" Maverick asked while cracking his back with a pop. "I don't know how to explain it. Things have been… Different, since the fall of evil and darkness. Without Sombra, Chrysalis, Tirek, and all of them? Life just seems peaceful. I don't know how that feels." Maverick stated which Celestia nodded at.

Without evil to fight against? The kingdom had settled back into a state of peace. It wasn't a bad thing, but it was something VERY little people had gotten used to. Celestia had slept at times expecting the next morning to be filled with war meetings and allies all over her home crying out. One did not understand the chains of leadership unless they had been in her shoes… Something nobody but a handful of mares including herself had been.

"Peace is hard to become accustomed to when war was common." Celestia said as Maverick nodded, bowing his head as the winged pony started to rest. "You're a bit tired, are you?" Maverick heard from Celestia before he shrugged.

"No, just trying to become used to this peace." Maverick stated with a small smile. "You know, I used to see you in newspapers. It wasn't the same as now. They tried taking the most perfect photo of you as possible, I guess they thought you'd be upset if you weren't shown as perfect." Maverick said which got Celestia to sigh.

She was used to her former subjects constantly believing she'd be mad at them for little things. She couldn't pretend to understand them considering most of her subjects should have known neither she NOR her sister hated them. Then again? Considering her student had been among those who had feared her at first? She could at least believe a FEW were like that.

Maverick looked up at the sky. It was weird without Celestia or Luna controlling the objects of night and day, but then again? He had not lived through the millennium of Celestia's reign so it was hard to feel much difference at the moment.

"You know that things are weird, right? I didn't think I'd be sitting here talking about Equestria today." Maverick said while he started to ponder the next day.

It was odd not knowing what to do next. Besides the dozens of orders, he had been by his job? He couldn't really question what came next.

"Sorry, what I mean is I'm not sure what to do next." Maverick clarified while gazing down from the stars to the ocean. "Work has been slow considering I've had to wait for metals to be shipped. It's just weird with work like that. I don't usually get these many orders at the end of the day." Maverick said as Celestia blinked.

"You haven't gotten a lot of work lately?" Celestia asked before Maverick chuckled a moment later.

"No, I've gotten about a dozen orders. I'm surprised considering how expensive it is." Maverick said while cracking a smile. "Metal working isn't easy. You have to constantly focus on the rest of the small details…. I pull in a lot of bits, but that's not really mattering to me." Maverick said while he shook his head.

"And how do you divide up all of those bits?" Celestia asked to herself more than anyone else.

"It's not the easiest of tasks." Maverick said as he slowly started to stand up. "Tomorrow I'll talk if that's ok with you. I'm sure we both have a lot to do before then… Plus I'd like to get everything cleared up if that's ok. If I get some orders done today? I'll have all of tomorrow free to talk." Maverick said before his wings extended and he flew up and into the sky.

Celestia hummed and started on her way back to the manor she and Luna shared. She would slowly begin the process of explaining today to her sister, hoping she would get a chance to talk to Maverick tomorrow.

Though given her experience? She was sure Maverick would come back to her sooner or later.
