Chapter 4
"Pick up, pick up, pick up," Scott mumbled as the call went to Madison's voice mail for the third time. "Damn it, Maddie."
"It doesn't mean anything happened. She could just be ignoring you," Isaac tried to comfort his Alpha.
Stiles pulled out his phone and dialed Madison's number, hoping she would answer for him but again it went to voice mail. "I'm starting to agree with Scott. Maybe we should try Rory?"
Scott scrolled through his contacts until he landed on Rory's number and waited impatiently as the phone rang before also going to voice mail. "Something isn't right. Isaac, check the coffee house. Stiles and I will go to Rory's and work back from there."
"Shouldn't we be checking with Aiden?" Isaac asked, knowing full well that he wasn't dating Madison out of the goodness of his own heart. "You said yourself, if there wasn't a decision made soon then there was going to be consequences."
Stiles made a face, "Do you ever say anything positive, Mr. Negativity?"
"Normally, I'd agree with you," Scott sighed, dialing his sister's number again though he knew she wasn't going to answer. "But I called Aiden and him and Ethan are two towns over picking up a motorcycle part."
X-X-X
"I swear if something happened to her…" Scott trailed off not even able to finish his sentence. Isaac had called and she hadn't shown up at the coffee house, Rory's place was empty, and he had even stopped by the hospital to see if she had stopped to see their mom but with no luck.
Isaac had gone back to the McCall household in case she showed up back home and found her cellphone dead on the kitchen counter. At least they knew why she wasn't answering her phone but it did little to calm Scott's nerves.
Stiles drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he drove, "Don't go there. We will find her and she'll be fine."
Scott tried to calm his racing mind; he wasn't sure what he would do if he ever lost Madison. He wasn't going to say that they never disagreed on anything, they would argue just as anyone else, but they were more than just brother and sister they were truly best friends. She had been to every single one of his lacrosse games and he'd sit there and listen to her go on about stupid girl drama from school until she felt better.
He was just about to suggest to Stiles that it was time to call his mom or even the Sheriff, truly fearing the worst, when he saw Rory's truck tucked behind a few trees on the side of the road. Stiles quickly slammed on the brakes, barely throwing the Jeep into park before Scott was out the door.
The truck was empty and Stiles placed a hand on the hood, "It's cool. It's been here awhile."
"Maddie!" Scott called out hoping that she wasn't too far.

"Mads" Rory nudged her, trying to wake her up. She grunted in response and Rory smirked, wishing she could let her sleep but she was fairly sure someone was calling her name. "Mads, I think we were out here too long."
Madison sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Even the hour nap that she took leaning against Rory's thigh wasn't enough to take away the dark circles that had started to form.
"You need to talk to Jerry about cutting your hours back at the coffee house."
She redid her hair into a ponytail, attempting to look a little more put together than she felt at the moment. "I'm fine, it's just Mr. Harris' term paper he assigned. Once that is finished I can get back to my usual five hours of sleep."
Before Rory had the chance to reply they could hear Scott shouting her name yet again.
"Oh, for the love of God," Madison mumbled, pushing herself off the ground.
Rory smirked, and replied in an all-knowing tone. "I told you it wasn't a good idea to leave your phone home."
She rolled her eyes, brushing the dirt from the back of her pants just as another Madison rung through the air.
"What?!" She screamed back in frustration.
"Where the hell have you been?!" Scott broke through the trees, Stiles not too far behind him although more out of breath from running.
Madison stared at him in disbelief, "What's the big deal? I don't go bother you when you're with Stiles."
The worry that something happened to his sister quickly turned to aggravation now that he knew she was fine and standing right in front of him. "No one knew where you were!"
"Rory did."
Stiles leaned against a tree to catch his breath, "But she didn't answer her phone either so that doesn't count."
"Stiles, mind your business." She sighed as they strolled back to Rory's truck, "So, what is so important that you had to come looking for me in the middle of the woods?"
Scott and Stiles shared a look unsure on how to answer since they weren't actually going to tell her that there was a pack of Alphas here to make Scott part of their pack anyway they could and when she didn't come home from school they immediately thought the worst.
"Hmm? What is it? God you're acting like the Boogeyman is going to get me or something. I can take care of myself you know."
Rory agreed, falling in step alongside Stiles as the siblings walked in front of them. "Yeah, you remember the kid that took her lunch in second grade. He went home with a black eye."
"I had already fought Scott for the last brownie, that little shit wasn't getting it for free."
They made it back out to the road and Rory gave Madison a quick hug goodbye before getting into her truck to head home stating she had to work that night. She climbed into the backseat of the Jeep and glared at the back of her brother's head.
"You can be mad all you want," Scott didn't even bother to turn around as Stiles drove toward their house.
Madison crossed her arms, "Good, because I am. I'm planning on spending the rest of the night working on homework, showering, and hopefully getting some sleep if that is okay with you."
"Actually, sounds like a pretty good night," Stiles commented before he realized the sarcasm and received glares from both siblings. "Okay, shutting up."

Madison's phone buzzed in her pocket and she snuck in the back room to answer it. "What?"
"Where are you?" Scott nearly growled into the phone, so loud that she had to pull it away from her ear for a moment.
"I'm at work and if Jerry catches me on the phone I'm going to have to clean the bathrooms."
"I thought you were supposed to be home tonight."
"Rory ghosted on her shift so Jerry called me in. Besides, I don't know if you happened to see it or not but the electric bill came and it is higher than usual. We need the money. You know, while we are on that topic, it's great that Isaac is staying with us I know he has nowhere else to go but it's another mouth to feed so I'm trying to pick up as many shifts as I can."
"We'll deal with that later. What time are you done?"
"Nine if you get off the phone before I get caught."
"Allison will be there to pick you up. Do not leave until she gets there."
Scott had ended the call before she was able to respond and she rolled her eyes. She hated when he was overprotective especially after they had already gotten into it that afternoon. They weren't little kids anymore and she seriously needed to have a talk with him.
X-X-X
Hope you are okay. See you in homeroom. Xoxo
Madison shoved her phone back in her pocket and got off the school bus ready to start her day. It was Friday which meant that both her and Rory didn't have to work and were able to do whatever they wanted to after school. It was a little odd that she hadn't heard from her last night but easily brushed it off.
It wasn't until Sheriff Stilinski interrupted her algebra class that she started to worry. He spoke to the teacher briefly before they both turned their attention to her.
"Maddie, can we talk in the hall?" The Sheriff motioned to the door with his head.
She had known him as long as she had known Stiles and he had always been super friendly but it did little to put her nerves at ease as she followed him out into the empty hall. "Did something happen to Scott? To my mom?"
"No, nothing like that," he reassured her, but there was still an edge to his voice that worried her. "When is the last time you talked to Rory."
"What?" She wasn't sure what he wanted to question her about but now she was thoroughly confused.
"Just need you to answer the question, Maddie."
She thought back, trying to figure out what was going on. "Uh, yesterday afternoon. She missed her shift last night at the coffee house."
The Sheriff nodded and scribbled the statement down in his notebook, "And you haven't heard from her since?"
Madison shook her head, "No. I text her this morning but she wasn't in homeroom."
The bell rung and the Sheriff let her go on to her next class with the promise that if she heard from her to give a call. Her head swam with possibilities. Could she be missing? Seriously hurt? It wasn't like her to not text her back or at least let her know if she was going to skip school. She nearly screamed as a she was pulled into an empty classroom, only closing her mouth when she came face to face with Isaac.
"What's wrong?"
Madison stared at him, "The hell are you talking about? Besides you scaring the shit out of me I'm fine."
Isaac wasn't sure how to tell her that he could hear her thundering heartbeat almost on the other side of the school or how he thought that she might have been scared because of something supernatural; Aiden. "You just seemed upset is all."
"Look, if Scott has you like keeping an eye on me or something because we have one class together you can tell my brother to grow up. I am not five years old anymore and I'm getting really sick and tired of this overprotective shit," Madison readjusted her bag on her shoulder.
Isaac put his hands up in mock surrender, "Scott didn't tell me to do anything."
"Well, good. But I'm -"
"You're not fine," he cut her off, unwilling to let her bottle up her emotions like he had done too many times in the past.
She took a deep breath and looked him square in the eyes, "Okay, I'm not but there is nothing you can do about it unless you know where Rory is."
Isaac scrunched his face in confusion, "Wouldn't you know that better than me."
"You would think," Madison sighed, pulling out her phone to try and call Rory again.
