Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Sun and the Inventor. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own MLP, Hasbro and a few others do.

Maverick continued to tinker with the metal piece upon his table. He was more bored then tired, his work did not consume massive hours, nor did it drain him considering Maverick was quite used to inventing.

"Hmm, next shipment should be along today or tomorrow, that means this piece will be done tonight…" Maverick said as he racked his brain for the mental math. "That means the bits from this job should cover next week. I'll be able to wait for the supplies for the next shipment of metal to work on." Maverick said before being interrupted by a noise.

Maverick turned, blinking as he noticed Flotsam leap up onto the bench towards his master. Flotsam looked at Maverick, tilting his head to the side as he clicked his teeth together with amusement. He knew Maverick liked Celestia's company, something that made him quite happy.

"What are you doing, buddy?" Maverick questioned as he blinked, looking at the door where he reflected on what happened.

He rubbed the otter on the head, curious as to what happened… Then again? Maverick knew he'd be meeting with Celestia tomorrow.

"What? Angry I'm talking to Celestia over you?" Maverick questioned as Flotsam settled under his wing. "I like talking to people, bud. You know how long it's been since we've talked to them." Maverick stated, patting the creature on his head.

There was a knock on the door to which Maverick turned, his metallic wing sweeping through the air like a knife. He could only blink as it was night time. Maverick slowly started to move towards the door, his metallic wing curling inwards as he thought who it could be.

Maverick slowly opened the door, his metallic hoof finding purchase on the door as he thought about it. Maverick clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth before pulling the door open to greet Luna.

It almost made Maverick plummet to the ground in shock as the amethyst colored alicorn looked at Maverick who stared back.

"Luna… W-What are you doing here?" Maverick asked, trying to keep the strain and such out of his voice. "I'm sorry, you caught me off guard." Maverick said as Luna nodded.

"You must be Maverick, the Pegasus who talked to my sister, yes?" Luna questioned to which Maverick nodded in response. "She's quite fond of your company, you should know. She asked if I might be able to bring you to talk with her… Then again? A friend of my sister's is a friend of mine." Luna added as Maverick blinked.

"Why would she ask you with all do respect?" Maverick questioned as he followed the alicorn out of the house. "I'm sorry, I'm just caught off guard. I didn't expect someone to visit me tonight when it came down to it. I'd have composed myself more." Maverick stated while he opened his wings to take flight.

He blinked before grabbing his jacket and pulling it over his prosthetic limbs. Maverick knew some ponies were still frightened by the appearance of a pony with metallic limbs rather then his normal look. Maverick turned and took flight with Luna following shortly behind.

"It's quite alright, I expected shock at my sudden appearance. It was last minute, of course." Luna responded to which Maverick hummed. "Plus, we're still somewhat settling in, a pony here or there is not used to seeing us as… Well, you know what I suggest." Luna added, gaining a nod from Maverick.

"We're not exactly used to being home to former princesses, Luna." Maverick said, pausing to make it known he meant no disrespect. "Besides? You and your sister are heroes around Equestria. I can imagine a group of ponies would be a bit shocked seeing you both so casually." Maverick added, scratching at his neck as he did so.

"We do not want people to assume we are above them, but I suppose they will see we are not beyond them." Maverick heard from Luna who fluttered her wings, curious as to what would happen next. "I'm sorry for those injuries you appear to have. I don't wish to bring them up other than to express my condolences to you." Luna added as Maverick chuckled awkwardly.

Most ponies found his limbs off-putting. Maverick knew very well those limbs were much scarier to someone who didn't know about these types of wounds. Still? Maverick was used to it, those looks were common, but it helped him smile knowing that he was able to inform people about it and use it as fuel to push himself further beyond.

"How are you and Celestia setting into the town?" Maverick questioned; eyebrow raised with amusement. "I was wondering when we'd talk. I asked Celestia how you were doing, currently." Maverick stated while he cracked his good hoof.

"It's slow… And a bit boring." Luna said with a smirk.
