A Relaxing Night In
Fairy Tail © Hiro Mashima
Summary- After coming home from a stressful job, Natsu and Lucy decide to wind down at her place. Takes place after the 7 years-timeskip.
There was the sound of the door opening and Lucy came trundling into her apartment, dropping her bag onto the floor with an exhausted sigh. Natsu came in not long after, groaning with his shoulders slumped and he dragged his feet along. Like Lucy before him, he, too, threw his backpack against the floor before he just plopped himself down on the armchair, slipping his sandals off and sighing as he wiggled his toes to stretch them out. As for Lucy, she steadily took off her boots and tossed them to the side of her bed before she soon flopped there herself.
It was a rather tough day for the pair. The job they went on was particularly strenuous. Even Natsu had a rather tough time, but at least they got the money they needed, and in full, no less.
Still, they hoped that they didn't have to go on another job like that for a long, long time.
As Lucy sat up, she glanced over at Natsu, who was practically limp against the armchair as he sighed deeply.
"What a day, huh?" she asked.
"Tell me about it," Natsu muttered.
"So, what do you wanna do now?" Lucy asked, but she soon got her answer in the form of a long, loud grumble from the Fire Dragon Slayer's stomach. Soon after, her own stomach growled as if in agreement, causing Lucy to blush slightly as she laid her hand against it. Natsu couldn't help chuckling teasingly at her, causing her to roll her eyes at him, but she smiled in amusement, nonetheless.
Still, one thing was for certain: she was NOT cooking tonight.
"Pizza?" she asked.
"I'm down for pizza," Natsu replied. "Let's watch a Movie Lacrima while we're at it."
"Sure," Lucy replied as she stood up, "but first, I gotta change outta these sweaty clothes and take a bath."
"I'll be in after you're done," Natsu replied while the Celestial Spirit wizard gathered some more comfortable clothes to wear, ran the bath, and after waiting for it to warm up, she got in, sighing in relief as the water began to relax her sore muscles. While she was bathing, Natsu decided to go ahead and search the closet for any clothes he could wear.
If this was still around the time when they first met, Lucy would have kicked Natsu out of her home the first chance she got… but nowadays, especially the 7 years they were gone on Tenrou Island, having Natsu around was practically routine. She started buying clothes that would fit him more in case he wanted to spend the night over and made sure to buy extra groceries in case he came looking for a snack.
In fact, whenever a job got a little too stressful, like the one they came back from, they actually liked to spend the rest of the night just hanging out, just like now.
After a while, Lucy came back out, wearing a loose-fitting white tank top that left very little to the imagination, one strap hanging off her shoulder with her cleavage exposed, and a pair of light blue Daisy Dukes. She had her hair down, not bothering to tie it back up in pigtails.
"Okay, you can go next," she said, and soon after, Natsu went into the bathroom, carrying his choice of clothing. While he had his bath, Lucy used the Communication Lacrima to order from the nearest pizza restaurant: two large meat lovers pizzas with some extra pepper flakes and a side order of spicy wings for Natsu, and a small veggie pizza with extra cheese for her.
It was a good thing she had so much extra money left over from their job.
Soon, Natsu came back out with his towel draped around his shoulders. He had on a loose salmon pink shirt and a pair of red shorts that reached down to the knees, not to mention he was wearing his scarf like a sash. His normally spiky hair was hanging in front of his face, which had this big, dopey grin that Lucy found oh, so adorable.
It wasn't too much longer when the pizzas finally reached their door and Lucy paid the delivery boy in full. Hell, she even gave him a tip.
Once they started eating, Lucy turned on the Movie Lacrima of her choosing. It was one of those romantic comedies, one of her personal favorites, really. It was the one about the girl who met some guy at a coffee shop and they got into all sorts of hilarious shenanigans while falling in love, all the same.
Natsu never really watched this movie, before. Come to think of it, he never really did watch films like this, anyway, but he was willing to give it a try.
Soon, the two were lying on the couch together as the movie played on. Lucy was wrapped up in a blanket, laying on top of Natsu, who had his arms wrapped around her, one hand comfortably on her back and the other gently combing through her hair. Her ear was resting on his chest, right on the spot where his heart was, so the thumping sound of his heartbeat and his slow, steady breath was all she could hear. So soothing was the sound that it practically drowned out the sounds of the movie playing in front of her eyes, which slowly closes as she found herself being lulled to sleep, her head rising and falling as he kept breathing.
"Luce?" Natsu asked, softly, only for her to answer with a soft hum as she nestled up against him, causing him to smile before he reached over and turned the Movie Lacrima off, then reached over and turned off the lamp. The only light that came through the darkness was the light of the moon and the stars through the window as he carefully adjusted himself so that he was comfortable and didn't wake her.
Once he was certain that she was still sleeping, he planted a light kiss on the top of her head and whispered into her ear…
"Goodnight, my shining star…"
And soon after, Natsu drifted softly into the world of sleep, cradling Lucy in his arms.
I was in the mood for some NaLu fluff, so I wrote this!
