Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Sun and the Inventor. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own MLP, Hasbro and a few others do.
Maverick found so much odd around him if he was honest. So much that seemed to not fit into place. Perhaps it was simply because of the fact this was done damn odd. If he were honest to himself at the end of the day. He felt as if he was a toy here and he questioned if Celestia honestly found herself lost in this place. It really wouldn't surprise him with the scale and the sheer scale of what he had witnessed made him perhaps too odd.
It was too confusing as to how this went and how it was to be handled if he was honest. It was an odd position to be in at the second and an odder one to escape. He wasn't one to question her problems when it comes them.
Celestia seemed to notice that he was deep in his thoughts as to it. she said nothing, yet she stared at him with a raised eyebrow as he seemed to ponder what to say and do next as of now.
Still? Celestia had found it far more amusing than it probably was. There were too many ways this could end properly when it came down to it. Maverick brought his metallic hoof to his snout and sighed in annoyance as he realized what had happened. The second was that this had been rather interesting to her. She had a lot more on the line for her friends.
"It's been a long night, hasn't it?" Celestia questioned to which Maverick nodded while keeping his hoof to his nose with annoyance. "You remind me of Luna. She always wants to try and handle everything at the same time. It doesn't exactly help when you try and do it in the same sitting, Maverick. It will wear you down faster than you think." Celestia stated to which Maverick only sighed and rubbed at his temples with some annoyance.
"Doesn't mean it's always exactly better to do one at a time. I don't aim to make mistakes, nor do I try and rush anything I do." Maverick said while he sighed to himself. "It doesn't help if you're dealing with small loads of shipments. It's easier to send out a lot more supplies in bulk than simply wait and pay for each one, Celestia. With all due respect? A little money in one go is better than a ton of money in 2 goes. I need to be able to handle anything my customers need from me when it comes down to my work." Maverick said while he sighed and seemed to only roll his eyes at this.
The more annoyance he had at this. The more he remembered that he still had the skills needed to get to a proper place in life. That wasn't a bad thing when it came down to it. Maverick did enjoy his work; it was simply how demanding it was of him that annoyed him to no real end.
"And when it becomes a toll on your health?" Celestia questioned as she crossed her hooves under her.
"Then I'll be like every other 30-year-old stallion?" Maverick joked which made Celestia roll her eyes and giggle. "It's nice hearing you laugh. From what I heard? They didn't get you to laugh a lot when you oversaw things." Maverick stated to which Celestia raised an eyebrow.
"They seem to print a lot of stories about me that aren't true," Celestia said to which Maverick chuckled.
"Ah, but people constantly think what they think. Half the rumors people had about you and Luna and what you could both do MIGHT make you laugh at how insane they seem to sound now." Maverick stated before he raised an eyebrow towards her with more than a little amusement playing at his muzzle.
He knew the princess or former princess was rather thrown for a loop by how much he seemed to be comfortable around her. It wasn't often he found himself around an alicorn. Honestly? This had been his first time and it spoke a lot about how he had felt about certain things. The more he had been offered at the time to court the idea? The odder he found it and the more he seemed to be amused by the idea.
Still? Maverick found some humor in the idea. It was at least amusing enough that he was able to smile at it.
"I've never seen that metal before. It looks a lot simpler than the metal I had on before now." Celestia stated to which Maverick blinked.
"Oh, it's a metal from around here. I think the guards used it. I had to cobble together something for my leg." Maverick said before he sighed. "I was really stupid back then. Thought I could beat everyone and rise to the top. Man, I'm almost glad I crashed. I don't think I'd be able to honestly be comfortable with myself if I hadn't lost that ego back then. Thing almost… Did more damage than what I had dealt with almost all the time. it sounds stupid and I'm not saying I'm wanting to slam into a mountain again." Maverick said before he rubbed at his head with annoyance.
There was a lot more on his mind than simple tactics like this. It had made them more interesting when it came down to it. He was honestly confused about what was going to be happening next. The fact that there was a lot more on her mind as well also seemed to not escape his mind. This place was a maze and it seemed as if even she found it so.
Celestia let out a yawn and placed a hoof on her snout. She had found this to be amusing, but it didn't take away the exhaustion that had been prevalent in her features. She had been so curious when it came to what he had gone through.
"Are you ok now?" Celestia questioned to which there was a nod a few moments later.
"Still hurts here and there, but it isn't like I'm almost dead or something," Maverick stated before he scratched at said limb with annoyance. "I'm not going to let a few scars kill me if it was that easy to kill me? I'd already be dead at the moment." Maverick stated before he rubbed at his temples.
He was honestly a lot more curious as to what they had expected from him. He had been wounded at least once, hurt to some degree. It hadn't shaken him much anymore considering how hard it is when it comes to certain things like tactics. The fact that he had been able to handle this properly was nothing short of astounding.
"I feel like someone just dropped a wall on my head all of a sudden," Maverick stated as he rubbed at his temples with annoyance. "Why do I need to get all of the pain all of a sudden?" Maverick said as he heard her laugh for a few moments.
"There's so much time to talk. I feel like the world may be trying to tell us something, Maverick." Celestia stated to which he raised an eyebrow at her as of the second. "We're tired from a long day. Luna doesn't get tired because she's up all night usually." Celestia added to which Maverick had no answer.
There were a few pauses from the Pegasus as he questioned what to say or do next. His head had started to ring like a bell in his skull to the point where he couldn't exactly feel his skull. He had been curious about what the next talk would be about… Provided that they managed to get one at the second. It would be an interesting talk he assumed, an interesting discussion that he looked forward to at the time.
He had been curious as of the second as well what her intentions were. There was a lot the former princess could want from him in their next debate around for when it seemed to come as of the second.
He rubbed at his hooves with some annoyance and seemed to glance around the room with open hooves. The only thing he'd lose would honestly be time. the metallic coverings for his 2 missing limbs were bothering. He could tell that she had been raring for this type of thing. It'd be odder than he expected at the moment to stop her, but he supposed he could try and stop him.
Celestia moved slightly, the alicorn move amused at him then annoyed. She could tell that there was a story behind his metallic appendages. If she wasn't so nice? She'd injure about them to a degree, but there was something to be said or done about this.
She was not rude; she did not insult someone who hadn't done anything to earn it. Celestia knew that if he wished to share the idea? He'd do a lot more than that at the time. This would end sooner or either way.
The Pegasus seemed to glance around, his metallic claw cutting through the air as he looked around and sighed to himself before he rolled his eyes to himself. He grunted and cracked his hooves, the metallic material seeming to crack with a metallic clang as he looked around the room. There was only so much he could do.
"Are you alright?" Celestia asked to which Maverick nodded to himself and sighed as he looked around with annoyance.
"Yeah, they kinda lock up a bit when something is put near them. It's not that easy to control them. Honestly? I don't know what would happen if the metal did lock up." Maverick said as he sighed and glanced around, interested in what would happen next.
There was a sigh from him as he realized that there was more going on than anything else. The fact of the matter behind it was simply how little he seemed to be lacking when it came down to it. The more he was pushed, the more he felt as if the metal was the least of his worries. He didn't find this to be scary, no. Celestia was many things, but he didn't find her to be all terrifying, she was after all not the princess anymore.
That, and he knew she was his friend. She was trying to retire; the fact of the matter is that he'd do something crazy and probably drive her off the deep end sooner rather than later.
At least then he'd find some amusement in messing with the woman who used to be the ruler of the lands. He did find himself with a single question that she could and may answer down the road. He decided to save it for a better occasion when he wasn't going to be bothering her by asking it. It was still a nice question on his mind.
Celestia seemed to have noted that he was falling quiet with time and effort. Still? There was a lot more on his mind given the time and effort while he hummed to himself.
This was going to be a very silly day. A very silly night as well was sure to follow and he dreaded it entirely at the time. He had been neglecting what to say as well. He hummed to himself as he looked around with interest.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out that the next chapter will be in 2-10 months when it came down to it. The next chapter will be showing both Celestia and Maverick talking more and exploring the mansion. It will also show more of Maverick's past as of the second and will be a bit delayed at the time, until then? Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Next chapter will be longer.
