October 1st, Adrien's one week as a temporary soccer team member is over. Instead of joining as an official member he quits the team. I want you to make Adrien join the team. Even if you have to force him. See I think that he actually wants to be part of the soccer team.
Marinette for the first time in her life was early for school. She wanted to get there before Adrien so she could read the letter and get an idea of what to do and not do that day. She was determined to save Adrien and she would do anything in her power to make sure Adrien had a future.
As Alya and Juleka were reading a fashion magazine Marinette was trying to get the courage to convince Adrien to join the soccer team.
'I can do this. I will change the future.'
"Yes!" Marinette blurted out in confidence as Alya and Juleka looked at her confused.
"What are you yesing about?" Juleka asked her.
Marinette blushed. "Uh nothing." Marinette laughed nervously.
At that moment Adrien walked in the class with Nino and Luka. Luka was obviously happy about something. "Good morning." Adrien said to Marinette as he took a seat in his spot.
Marinette smiled at him with a small blush. "Good morning, what's up?"
"Hey girls guess what I have big news about Adrien, he's now an official member of the soccer team." Luka stated.
"I just joined to get Luka to stop asking me about it." Adrien replied.
Alya and Juleka congratulate him and Marinette smiles at Adrien, happy for him but at the same time she is confused.
'He joined? Is the future changing already?'
During class Mrs. Bustier was telling the class that the next day would be a half day so no one needed to bring lunch. The whole time Marinette was lost in thought and not paying attention.
'Everything is really coming true.'
A new student from California comes to my class.
'The letter is right.'
They asked me to be a pinch hitter for the softball game.
'It's happening.'
Soon it was lunchtime and Nino was telling Adrien about his mixes. As Adrien was paying attention to him the rest of the group except for Luka since he wasn't there just stared at Nino blankly. Not because they were bored or uninterested but because they heard about his mixes a thousand times. As Nino was talking Adrien glanced at Marinette and smiled at her and Marinette smiled back with a blush.
At that moment Alya saw Kagami standing by the door watching Adrien but she saw that Alya spotted her and she walked away and Alya smirked. "Is Kagami stalking you, Adrien?"
Adrien shrugged seeing her too. "Maybe."
"Do you know her?" Marinette asked Adrien.
"Marinette everyone knows Kagami Tsurugi. She's either liked by people or people are afraid of her." Nino stated and everyone nodded in agreement with laughs or chuckles.
"She watches soccer practice." Adrien replied.
Everyone looked at him with eyebrows raised since that didn't sound like Kagami. She was into fencing or martial arts. "Really that's surprising." Juleka stated.
Luka soon joined them. At that moment he was in the music room since he had a guitar club meeting. He was great at soccer and he liked doing it but guitar was his passion.
The group started talking about something else and Marinette was glad to see that Adrien was happy and enjoying himself.
'Maybe it can. Maybe the future really can be changed.'
The boys ate their lunch on the front row where Nino and Adrien sat while the girls ate their lunch behind them where Alya and Marinette sat. Marinette was happy that everything was going well at least on what her future self asked of her so far.
'By doing things that the me of the future didn't do I can change the future.'
After school Marinette was about to head out of the school too busy in her thoughts when Adrien walked up to her. "Marinette something good happened right? You look really happy today."
"Yes you can say that." Marinette said with a small blush.
"Well you should look where you're going you might bump into something." Adrien said with a smile before walking ahead of her.
Marinette blushed even more. "Right."
"Hey Adrien." Marinette looked over at where Adrien was at and saw that Kagami was walking over to him. "I'm going to watch you practice again today."
Marinette was surprised and her smile faded immidialy.
'Is she interested in Adrien?'
Once Kagami left Adrien looked at Marinette. "Are you ready, Marinette?"
Marinette blinked and came back from her thoughts. "Oh yea."
They started walking down the stairs when Adrien suddenly stopped. "Hey Marinette, can I ask you a favor?" Marinette was confused but she nodded. "Can you give me a wake up call tomorrow so I can make it to morning practice?"
"Yes what time do you need me to wake you up?" Marinette asked. What was she going to do? She couldn't even get herself up in the morning how was she supposed to wake him up early.
"5am." Adrien replied and Marinette nodded with a smile but she was screaming inside.
'5AM HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET UP AT THAT TIME I CAN'T EVEN WAKE UP AT 7!.'
That evening Marinette helped Sabine wash the dishes after dinner. "Do you want to take the leftovers to lunch tomorrow?" Sabine asked her.
"No thanks I only have class in the morning but I do need to wake up early tomorrow though." Marinette replied.
"What time? Can you wake up on your own?" Sabine asked.
"Yes, if I go to sleep right now." Marinette stated as she finished her part of the dishes and rushed up to her room to go to sleep. Though before she did she decided to read the letter to see what's supposed to happen the next day.
October 2nd. The day before our break starts is a half day at school, only 4 hours in class. Kagami confesses her feelings to Adrien during free period.
Marinette took in what the letter said like a knife stabbing her heart. She knew that Kagami had feelings for Adrien but she didn't expect the letter to tell her that Kagami would confess to him especially not this soon but at least it didn't say that Adrien returned her feelings and they started dating so Marinette still had hope… right.
Adrien starts to date Kagami
Marinette sighs she really needs to finish a whole day part of the letter before assuming things now all of her hopes went down the drain.
Marinette set up 5 different alarms to make sure that she woke up in time to wake up Adrien but it wasn't her alarms that woke her up the next morning but her phone ringing. Marinette sleepily grabbed her phone and answered. "Hello?"
"Hey sleeping beauty I know that you aren't a morning person so I decided to wake you up so you could wake up your prince charming." Tikki's voice came from the other line.
"I swear, how do you know everything? Do you spy on me?" Marinette asked, sitting up.
"I'm supposed to guide you though following that letter so I will know everything that's going on." Tikki replied. "Have a great day Marinette. Oh and keep an eye on the small signs." With that Tikki hung up.
Marinette sighs and she lays down again wanting to get some more sleep but at that moment her alarms went off and she groaned in frustration. She turns all of the alarms off before sitting up again and grabs her phone before calling Adrien.
"H-hello?" Came Adrien's sleepy voice on the other side.
"Hey Adrien, it's time to get up for morning practice." Marinette replied.
"Oh right thanks Marinette, you're a lifesaver." Adrien stated.
Marinette blushed. "It's nothing."
After her phone call with Adrien she couldn't go back to sleep so she got ready for school and went to see the morning soccer practice then she went to class and it didn't take long for her friends to arrive except for Luka and Adrien who were still practicing.
Mrs. Bustier walked in and asked Marinette as the class president to take some files to the storage room. Marinette nodded as she took the box of the files and walked out the room before heading to the storage room.
"Do you need some help?" Marinette looked to her left and saw that Adrien was walking by her side.
"I'm fine." Marinette replied.
"Are you the class secretary or something?" Adrien asked as he took the box from Marinette ignoring what she said.
"No I'm just - wait, isn't that heavy?" Marinette asked.
"I'm fine." Adrien replied as he continued walking. "Oh and again, thank you for waking me up this morning."
Marinette walked by his side. "You're welcome."
"By the way, is there a guy you like?" Adrien asked suddenly.
Marinette stopped walking and blushed. "Uh no!"
'I wish that I could just come out and say yes.'
Adrien nodded as he kept walking and Marinette caught up to him. "W-what about you do you um have a crush?"
"Nope." Adrien said as he walked.
"What about Kagami?" Marinette suddenly asked, remembering the letter.
"She is pretty." Was all Adrien said and Marinette nodded trying to not show her sadness.
They put the files in the storage room then they went to class.
The morning went by pretty quickly and soon it was their free period. "Where should we go during the break?" Alya asked as the three girls were sitting on a bench of the school and the boys were standing by it.
"Somewhere where Adrien hasn't been yet." Juleka suggested.
"Sounds good, where do you want to go?" Luka asked Adrien.
"I.. Um.. I don't know where to go." Adrien replied.
Everyone laughed. "Yea I guess you wouldn't." Luka stated.
Alya took out a notebook and the group gave ideas on what they could do during the break and she wrote it down. The whole time Marinette glanced at Adrien and thought about what she read in the letter.
'It's okay the future can be changed and I bet it's easier than I think it is….but he does think that she's pretty.'
"Marinette…. Marinette!" Alya called out to a spaced out Marinette.
Marinette blinked and looked at Alya. "Huh?"
"We are all thirsty but we can't decide who will get the drinks for everyone so we agreed to do rock paper scissors and the one that loses will get the drinks." Nino replied. "Weren't you paying attention?"
Marinette nodded and the six of them played rock paper scissors. Oddly enough everyone except for Adrien picked rock as Adrien picked scissors.
"Adrien lost, he'll get the drinks for us." Luka stated.
Everyone told Adrien what they wanted and Adrien wrote everything on a piece of paper. "What do you want, Marinette?" Adrien asked since she didn't tell him.
"Oh I don't want anything, thanks." Marinette replied with a smile.
"Are you sure?" Adrien asked her.
Marinette nodded. "Yea."
"Okay I'll be right back." Adrien went to the veni machine. It was a bit far from where the group was but it was still at eyesight for them.
"Thank you!" Alya called out.
They saw that it was a lot of drinks for him to carry so Marinette stood up about to go help him when they saw Kagami walk over to him.
"Is that Kagami?" Juleka asked as they saw Kagami lead Adrien to a corner to talk. "What's that about?"
"And why is she being all secretive?" Luka added.
Marinette frowned remembering what the letter said. It didn't help that she saw Adrien nodding about something.
Soon Adrien walked back to the group. "Welcome back, were you just asked out?" Alya asked playfully.
"Basically." Adrien replied as he gave everyone their drinks.
"So what did you say?" Juleka asked.
"I said I would give her an answer after the break." Adrien replied before handing Marinette an orange juice box. "Here you make me delicious lunch everyday so you deserve that I give you something too."
Marinette blushed while taking it. "Thank you."
That's when the bell rang so everyone went back to class.
'According to the letter…'
During the fourth period Adrien says that he forgot his eraser so I give him one of mine.
"Shoot, I forget my eraser." Adrien said as he looked through his bag.
Marinette hands him one. "Here you go. You can borrow mine. I have two."
"Thanks Marinette." Adrien said as he took it with a smile.
'I wonder if Adrien is actually going to date her. I honestly don't want him to… but maybe it's not fair for me to feel that way. I don't know what to do.'
At the end of the day Adrien gave her the eraser back. "Thanks again Marinette."
"You're welcome." Marinette replied.
I want you to take off the eraser's cover. The message you'll find there I didn't notice that day. If I had noticed it the future might have turned out differently. Tell him how you really feel.
Marinette undid the cover of the eraser as Adrien walked out and was surprised to see what it said.
Do you think it's okay if I start dating Kagami?
Marinette couldn't believe it; she quickly wrote her answer in a piece of paper.
'I hope that Adrien hasn't left yet. It's going to be okay. I can change the future.'
She ran to his locker and taped the note on it before heading to where her friends were waiting for her. "Hey you got here just in time." Alya stated.
"For what-" Marinette started when she saw Adrien talking to Kagami from afar.
"I bet she couldn't wait for an answer." Juleka stated. Kagami walked away with a huge smile on her face. "She seems happy."
"Adrien what did you say!?" Alya called out.
Adrien looked at them with a smile before giving them a thumbs up. Everyone cheered for him but Marinette couldn't take it anymore and left the school trying to hold back her tears.
Luka noticed and he went after her and caught up to her. "You like Adrien don't you."
Marinette looked at him with sad eyes and that was all Luka needed as a conformation. Marinette ran home in tears.
'I'm sorry future me I'm so sorry. I couldn't erase one of your regrets. I'm so sorry.'
Meanwhile Adrien frowned seeing the note on his locker that said one word no.
When Marinette got back home she went straight to her room ignoring her mother's offer to have lunch. In her room Marinette plopped on her bed.
'October 2nd Adrien and Kagami started dating. Today for some reason I was overwhelmed with emotions and I couldn't eat.'
Marinette took out the juice box Adrien gave her from her bag and drank it.
As Nino drove them to their destination the group thought about why they were making this journey in the first place.
It was the day before when they dug up their time castle. Marinette gave Alya LJ so she could open her letter and read it. "That's right, my dream was to be a fashion designer."
Alya read the letter from over Marinette's shoulder. "Heh the part of getting married and having a kid was right although without the handsome husband part." Alya said playfully.
Luka glared at Alya. "That's your own personal opinion."
Everyone laughed and LJ started reaching over for Luka. "Daddy."
"Well I can't say that you're a terrible dad LJ loves you." Alya said as she handed LJ to Luka.
"So what did daddy write?" Marinette asked him playfully.
Luka read his already opened letter. "I wanted to become a famous musician or/and a soccer player. Oh and I wanted to marry a beautiful celebrity."
"I'm surprised that you didn't put to marry Marinette." Alya said teasingly.
"Like I would risk jinxing that." Luka said with a smile.
Marinette giggled. "What did everyone else put?"
"I wanted to be a famous detective." Alya replied reading her letter.
"I expected to become a supermodel." Juleka replied.
"A famous DJ." Nino said, showing his letter to everyone.
"So did any career dreams come true?" Luka asked though he already knew the answer.
"I think we all aimed a bit too high." Nino replied.
"Nino, your biggest mistake was changing to contacts." Alya told her husband playfully. "You were a lot cuter with glasses."
"I wonder what Adrien wrote?" Luka said, looking at Adrien's letter that was still in his hand. "Do you think he'll be cool with us reading it?"
"Well if we don't, who else will?" Alya asked.
"True." Nino stated.
Juleka nodded. "Go on, read it for Adrien."
"Yea you should read what his future was." Marinette said as she took LJ from him.
Luka smiled and nodded as he opened the letter. "Dear everyone 10 years in the future I hope you all are doing well. To Luka amazing in soccer and I always admire you-"
"No way you're making that up!" Alya exclaimed.
"No look, it's written right here." Luka said, showing her the letter.
Alya's eyes widened. "It does."
Luka continued reading the letter. "When the school year started I was worried that I wouldn't fit in. You were the first person to talk to me and I thank you for that. I should've listened to you and joined the soccer team. To Alya you're always funny and full of energy. Whenever I felt down one look at you made me think my troubles were silly. You always cheered me up. To Nino your music was amazing even though sometimes I didn't understand some things you said about it but still you were a great friend. To Juleka it's true that you're shy but you can be frightening sometimes especially when you defend Alya or Marinette. That's the best part to see about you. To Marinette you're modest and put others ahead of yourself. You seem the happiest whenever others are happy too. When Alya and Juleka and you made cookies during class yours were the best. I wish that I had the chance to try your homemade cooking too. I hope 10 years from now you're all still good friends and that you're having a lot of fun, Adrien Agreste."
"That's it? That's all he wrote?" Alya asked and Luka nodded before Alya took the letter from him. "It can't be we were supposed to write to our future selves so why didn't he do that?"
"I don't know." Luka replied.
Alya started to tear up and buried her face in Nino's chest. "But why Adrien? How could we not have known?" Marinette and Juleka started to tear up too.
Nino wrapped his arms around Alya. "So you mean he wrote to all of us because he already knew that he didn't have a future? Did he… do you think he did it?"
Everyone's eyes widened in shock. "Oh God what if it wasn't an accident after all." Luka said as he started to tear up too and Marinette broke down in tears. "Adrien why."
"No one knows what the future will hold. Even the future he had for us didn't come true. We're not close like we used to be and this isn't fun." Nino replied.
"Let's go to Adrien's house. Let's celebrate the birthday we didn't get a chance to. 10 years later. Let's make it all come true for him. We'll laugh and we'll be friends again." Luka stated and everyone nodded.
'We could've saved him. Why didn't we notice something was wrong? If I could redo the past I would run to Adrien without a second thought. I swear I'll save him next time I swear it.'
