The group soon arrived at Adrien's house… well at this point it was the house of his aunt Amelie and her son Felix. Though Felix didn't live there anymore, but he would be there that day because Amelie asked him to.
The group got out of the van as Marinette was holding LJ and they went to the front door and knocked.
'After Adrien's mother passed away his aunt Amelie and cousin Felix came from London to live with him so he wouldn't have to move again so soon. This would be only our second visit here as a group. The first time we were here was for Adrien's funeral.'
Amelie opened the door. "I have been waiting for you. Come on in."
Everyone walked in. "Thank you for letting us come here today. We really appreciate it." Luka stated.
Amelie smiled. "It was my pleasure. Please come to the living room where I made tea." Everyone followed her to the living room and they saw Felix there. "You guys remember my son Felix right?"
Everyone nodded and greeted him and he greeted back. Amelie asked Felix to come in petition for the group. "Thank you for coming Felix. Yesterday we got the suspicion that the accident Adrien had wasn't really an accident based on a letter from Adrien to us we found in our time castle we did during high school." Luka explained as everyone sat down and took a tea cup. "Since you were the last one to see him before he died we thought that you could possibly deny or confirm it."
"It was both." Felix replied. "He didn't plan to be in front of the track. He was running away from something he found out at home but when he saw the track he didn't move even though he had the chance to. He did try to hang himself once before that incident but he survived that."
Everyone was surprised to hear what Felix said and deep down they felt like everything was their help. If only they tried harder to be his friends, maybe he would still be there with them.
Marinette put LJ on the floor and he started reaching for Marinette's tea cup from the coffee table. "Hey, that's not for you." Luka stated, grabbing the tea cup and handing it to Marinette. LJ started whining so Luka gave him his favorite toy and he immediately calmed down and had a huge smile on his face.
"What a cute little boy is he yours?" Amelie asked Marinette.
Marinette nodded with a smile. "Yes he is. He's both of ours." Gestures to Luka.
"We got married." Luka added with a smile too.
Amelie smiled. "You haven't changed. Marinette and Luka right?"
"You remember us?" Marinette asked, surprised.
"Yes of course and Alya Juleka and Nino." Amelie replied. "Adrien used to talk about you kids all the time, especially you Marinette."
Marinette smiled sadly and as everyone started talking about something else Marinette looked out the window where Adrien was buried in the backyard next to his mom.
'You were too young Adrien. I'm sorry that I couldn't save you. I wish… I wish I had the nerve to talk to you more. I wanted to but for some reason I could never find the courage and I regret that… I remember you wanted to tell me something that day… I always wondered what it was.'
During the first day of the break Luka Juleka Marinette Alya and Nino went to an ice cream shop together. Adrien was supposed to go too but he wasn't with them since he was on a date with Kagami.
"I guess Adrien is on a date with Kagami right about now." Juleka stated.
"I wonder what they are doing." Alya replied while eating her ice cream as everyone walked to the mall.
"They're on a date obviously so dating things." Nino said in a playful way.
Everyone laughed. "Thanks." Alya replied.
At the mall Alya found a cute mini skirt and she showed Marinette and Juleka. "We need to buy matching pairs."
Marinette blushed. "They're cute but aren't they kinda short?"
"Yea because it's a mini skirt." Alya stated.
Marinette laughed nervously. "Good point."
"So Marinette it's Saturday the bakery is closed but I saw your dad baking. Does he always bake even if the store is closed?" Juleka asked.
"Yes, Saturdays are the only days he has to do big orders with help from mom." Marinette replied.
Meanwhile as the group was having fun at the mall Adrien was on a date with Kagami at a coffee shop. As Kagami was talking to him Adrien smiled at her but his mind was somewhere else.
The break went by quickly and on the Monday back to school Marinette walked to the locker room before class since she was just in time and not late for class. She looked over Adrien's locker and saw the note was gone.
'I wonder what happened to that note.'
At that moment Adrien walked in the locker room and went to his locker when he saw Marinette. "Good morning."
"Good morning." Marinette said softly.
"What happened earlier? I thought you were going to wake me up." Adrien stated. "I overslept a little."
Marinette looked down. "Sorry."
"No it's fine I'm just teasing. Did you forget?" Adrien asked.
Marinette looked away from him, staring at her locker. "No you have a girlfriend now so I thought Kagami wouldn't like it if I called you and that's why I didn't make you lunch today either."
"Makes sense." Adrien starts walking away but he suddenly stops and looks at her. "Thank you for making them until now. I'm sure that it's not easy to make lunch for two people everyday. I'm sorry too for being so pushy."
Adrien starts walking again and what he said to her gave her some courage. "Adrien, wait!"
Adrien turns around to look at her. "What's up?"
Just as Marinette was about to tell him everything she felt about him Kagami walked in the locker room and over to Adrien. "Hi Adrien, what's up?" She takes his hand.
"Not much… Did you want to ask me something Marinette?" Adrien asked, looking at her.
Seeing them holding hands drained her courage. "It's nothing."
Adrien nodded before he walked away with Kagami.
During lunch Luka walked over to Adrien. "Hey Adrien, are you coming to have lunch with us at the bakery today?"
Before Adrien could reply Kagami walked up to him. "Let's go Adrien."
Adrien stands up. "Sorry not today."
As Adrien leaves with Kagami Marinette looks down and Luka notices Marinette's expression and he frowns.
"So where have you been since moving here?" Kagami asked Adrien as they walked.
"Nowhere really." Adrien replied.
"Yea because all you can go in this city is nowhere it's nothing like Japan you should go there someday." Kagami replied with a smile.
October 17th. After Adrien started dating Kagami I stopped talking to him.
Days passed and Adrien hasn't hung out with the group since he was always with Kagami. One day the group was having lunch in the classroom.
"Where's Adrien?" Alya asked the boys.
"Kagami took him somewhere again." Nino replied.
"Of course she did." Alya said in a slight annoyed voice.
"Yup she has to take him every free second." Juleka added, sounding just as annoyed as Alya. "Honestly she's making it hard for us to care about her."
"Yea how can we care for her if she keeps ignoring us and doesn't let Adrien hang out with his friends anymore." Alya replied.
"I wonder if Adrien actually even likes her." Juleka stated.
"Well remember he's new he has only been here for a month and a half." Alya replied.
Juleka nodded. "True and they both recently moved here from another country so they do have things in common."
"You girls are forgetting one thing. She is pretty." Nino stated.
"Pretty or not if I was him I wouldn't go out with someone that annoying." Alya replied.
"We should have stopped him." Juleka added. "It's basically our fault."
"Weren't you happy for him before?" Nino asked her.
"Yea but that was before I knew what kind of a person she really was." Juleka replied.
Marinette and Luka were both quiet during the whole conversation. Marinette was already going through a lot because of this and she didn't want to talk about it. Luka was quiet because he noticed how much this affected Marinette and it made him sad.
'Why couldn't I have said no to him face to face? Knowing the future doesn't really matter if I can't do something about it. I'm the one who has to make the choice and somehow act on it.'
Marinette put her lunch away barely eating anything. "Marinette, are you already done?" Alya asked her.
"Do you feel sick? Are you okay?" Juleka asked too.
Marinette smiled softly. "I'm okay I'm just full that's all."
After everyone was done eating they went to get something to drink from the veni machine. Marinette saw the same juice that Adrien gave her the day before break so she picked that one.
As the group were drinking their drinks they saw Adrien with Kagami from afar and they all frowned. Marinette's expression was the most noticeable.
"Are you hiding something from us Marinette?" Juleka suddenly asked.
"Of course not." Marinette replied.
The girls didn't push her anymore and they changed the topic. "So Marinette, when have you worn the mini skirt hm?" Alya asked her teasingly.
Marinette blushed with a smile. "They are so cute that I keep them in my room."
"So that's a never." Alya and Juleka said at the same time.
What Marinette didn't know was from where he was at Adrien was glancing at her with a frown.
That night Marinette was writing in her diary when her phone rang and she answered without looking at who it was. "Hello?"
"I know that you haven't been reading the letter." Tikki's voice came from the other line.
"What's the point if nothing I do will change anything." Marinette replied.
"Based on what Adrien told you the other day he really appreciated all the small things you have done for him, some things that your future self regrets not doing so you are making a change. You will have setbacks everyone does at some point but that shouldn't stop you from continuing in helping him have a future." Tikki stated. "If you really care about Adrien then don't give up on him."
Tikki hung up and Marinette sighed before grabbing the letter and reading the part for the next day.
Today is the first day during the morning that he calls out to me but I avoid him when I see Kagami. After this I avoided him a number of times. When Adrien calls out to you please answer him and don't just wait around. I want you to start talking to him too.
'I'm supposed to start talking to him? Impossible!'
The next morning Marinette walked in the school and saw Adrien sitting on a bench looking at his phone.
'Adrien… he's alone.'
Adrien noticed her so Marinette kept walking but Adrien stood up and quickly walked over to her. "Marinette, wait. Can I talk to you?"
Marinette stopped and turned to face him but when she saw Kagami walking over to Adrien from behind him Marinette turned around quickly and ran to the classroom unable to do what the letter said.
'Kagami doesn't like this. As long as Adrien lets her get in the way of what he wants then I don't need to talk to him at all. It's so easy to say what you should have done in the past when you're safe in the future. I can't do it, I just can't. Seems simple to look back at what could have been but in the present you're doing the best you can. Sometimes things don't work out. I have experienced of that for myself.'
After that Marinette avoided Adrien multiple times when he tried talking to her. Marinette thought this was affecting only herself but it was also affecting Adrien too. He couldn't even play soccer right and he used to be the best player in the team.
October 21, after school Adrien and Kagami got into a fight after he said bye to me in the hallway.
That specific day Marinette waited for Adrien to leave first so that incident wouldn't happen. Adrien stood up and packed his things. "Bye Marinette."
He left the room and as much as Marinette tried she couldn't forget about the letter. She quickly packed her things and left the room.
Later on I would find out that during that time Adrien was deeply troubled.
"Hey Adrien -" Marinette started.
"Adrien." Kagami said going over to Adrien but in the process she bumped into Marinette and Marinette fell to the ground since she lost her balance.
Adrien ran over to her. "What the-"
"It's no big deal my bag just bumped into her, she's fine." Kagami stated.
"You could still apologize." Adrien bent down in front of Marinette who was still on her knees. "Are you okay?"
"This is all your fault Adrien. Why are you always talking to her? I don't like it when you talk to other girls." Adrien ignored her and offered Marinette his hand. "Why do you have to be so dumb!" With that Kagami walked away mad.
"Are you hurt?" Adrien asked.
Seeing that once again she didn't change the future, Marinette quickly stood up and ran away. "I'm fine, sorry!"
'It's my fault.'
Marinette stopped when she bumped into Luka. "Please don't run away." He said with a soft smile.
'The letter didn't mention this. Has the future changed already?'
"It's just that Adrien and Kagami had a fight and it's my fault." Marinette replied as she starts to tear up. "I shouldn't talk to him like I used to. I screwed up. The truth is there's something I want to say but I can't."
Luka's smile didn't fade. "I think that it's okay that you talk to him. We're friends aren't we? Plus he's making me look real bad because he's not focusing during practice. He's sad because he wants to talk to you and he's having a hard time figuring out when to do it. Though how can he talk to you if you always run away from him."
Marinette thought about it then nodded. "You're right I need to fix this. I'll go talk things out with him. Thank you Luka." Marinette ran to the front door of the school.
'Even though Adrien called out to me I kept avoiding him. I did to Adrien the same thing I didn't want happening to me. I have to tell him… I have to fix this.'
"Thanks for that Luka." Alya said, walking over to him with Juleka.
Luka chuckles. "You know I think that It's the first time she thanked me for something."
"I knew that Marinette was hiding something from us." Juleka mumbled.
"Yea knowing her she wasn't going to tell us about it." Alya stated. "But I am glad Adrien stood up to her like that."
'The future me has many regrets and she has been feeling this for 10 years. That's a lot longer than this me. Adrien isn't in the future but he is here right now.'
Marinette caught up with Adrien before he crossed the street. "Adrien." Adrien turned around to face her. "Making lunch is not hard, it's actually really easy for me. You know I like cooking so I had a lot of fun doing it. You called out to me the other day. I'm sorry that I didn't answer you. What did you want to tell me?"
Adrien chuckles. "You're too late Marinette. I actually forgot what I wanted to tell you."
"But there's something bothering you." Marinette stated.
Adrien smiled. "How is it that you always know everything, hm?" They went to the park and sat on a bench. "I was thinking about breaking up with Kagami. I shouldn't date someone based on looks alone."
"Is it my fault?" Marinette asked. "I know that I didn't help."
"No kidding, you told me not to remember." Adrien stated. "I hated not being able to talk to you recently but besides that there's someone else I'm more interested in than Kagami. I only figured it out after I started dating Kagami."
"Are you… are you in love?" Marinette asked.
"That's a secret." Adrien replied with a smile.
'I wonder if the future me knows who Adrien could possibly be interested in.'
