chapter 2 The storm
The members of the justice league were on patrol when the Javelin broke down. "Ugh of all the times," Flash said. "How can things get any worse?" he asked.
Then there was a clap of thunder and it started pouring. "You just had to ask didn't you?" GL asked him.
"Sorry," Flash said.
"My home is close to here we can fix the Javelin there and wait out the storm there." Batman said.
They made it to the Wayne Mansion. "Master Bruce you really should let me know when you have company," Alfred said.
"Sorry Alfred it was kind of last minute because of the storm," Batman said.
"Well since we are going to be here for a while we can get know each other and know each other's identities so we can trust each other better," Flash said.
"Clark Kent," Superman said.
"Diana Donna," Wonder woman said.
"J'onn J'onnz," J'onn said.
"Shayera," Hawkgirl said.
"John Stewart," GL said.
"Wally West," Flash said.
"Bruce Wayne," Batman said.
There was a lot of thunder and lighting as they were fixing the Javelin. "Man this is some storm," Flash said.
"I'll say," GL said.
"It's bringing back memories for me and not exactly good ones," Flash said.
"I agree to that," Wonder woman said.
"Same here," GL said.
"It bringing back memories for all of us, the ones we wish to forget," Hawkgirl said.
"That goes for anyone in weather like this," Batman said.
"It makes me think of my parents and how lost them after much other things," Flash said.
"What are you talking about Flash?" Wonder woman asked.
"Let's just say my dad he wasn't a good person, he was really mean, hit me on regular basis I normally went to school trying to hide the bruises." Flash said.
"Your father hit you that hard?" GL asked.
"Yes, he did, he said it was discipline and I was being taught a lesson and I was bad excuse for a son who wouldn't amount to anything," Flash said. "My mom tried to protect me but with little to no success, but my dad's brother was nicer to me, I spent the summer with him every year. He treated me well and had a different form of discipline that made me not afraid of him and actually helped me learn," he said. "Then on the summer of the year I turned ten my parents and I got into a car wreck, my parents died and I lived, my uncle Barry and my aunt took me in as their own, I became a forensic scientist like my uncle he was the one who inspired me to try to help people, and when I got my powers I thought I could help people by protecting them, and stopping the bad guys instead of just finding out who did it in the lab," he said. "It was storming the day of the wreck and often storming when I was being beaten, so storms like this bring back those memories," he said.
"It must've been hard to deal with that Flash," J'onn said. "I lost my wife and children during a storm like this during the invasion on mars, I couldn't even find my sister and brother in law and my niece they were all gone," he said. "It is hard not to think of them at times," he said.
"I remember many bad things during storms to, makes me think of how my birth parents sent me away to save me from doomed Krypton and not being able to remember them personally except through images on old Kryptonian tech in the ship they sent me on." Superman said.
"A storm like this makes me think of my parents and how lost them when I was eight years old to a man with a gun, I hated guns ever since," Batman said.
"This makes think of things I have seen and heard back home, and how many lives were lost at times, at sea near my home," Wonder woman said.
"This reminds me of when I was little and how I hid under my covers every time I heard a storm coming. I was terrified of them as a child," GL said.
"This makes me think of the day I left Thangar, the truth is I didn't leave to find friends and people to help, the fact is on Thangar women get little respect even if they manage to become warriors like I did," Hawkgirl said. "Like many Thangarian women I had my fiancé picked out for me at a young at and didn't learn who he was until recently, I didn't love this man or care for him, I barely even knew him was the deal." she said. "So I grabbed my mace and my helmet and I left in the middle of stormy night while my family slept and went to find a place where I wouldn't be bound by my peoples ways and hopefully find a man I could truly love," she said.
"You ran away," Batman said.
"Yes, I didn't want to be bond by my peoples ways and I didn't want them to rule my life, I wanted make my own decisions and marry who I chose for myself, I want marry for love not by forced arranged marriage," Hawkgirl said.
"I don't blame you for that," GL said.
"Nor do I," Flash said and the others agreed.
"I hope you all don't mind me interrupting the reminiscing I brought hot chocolate if you are interested," Alfred said.
"Thanks," Flash said.
"Thank you," GL said.
"Thank you Alfred," Batman said.
"Thanks," Superman said.
"So is this good?" Wonder woman asked.
"I am wondering that too," Hawkgirl said.
"It looks different," J'onn said.
"It is good," Flash said. "But you have to be careful this stuff is hot," he said.
J'onn, Wonder woman and Hawkgirl took a sip. "It is good," Wonder Woman said.
"It is sweet and hot," Hawkgirl said.
"Different but good," J'onn said.
"Okay the Javelin is all fixed," GL said.
"Now we just have to wait for the storm to stop," Flash said.
Hawkgirl looked outside a few minutes later. "The storm is over," Hawkgirl said. "Look at what is outside it is beautiful," she said.
"Look at that," GL said.
"What is it?" Hawkgirl asked.
"It is called a rainbow," GL said. "It is the light of the sun shine through the water in the sky creating all those colors," he explained.
"It sure is beautiful," Hawkgirl said.
"Yes it is," J'onn said.
"Let's head back to the watch tower," Wonder woman said.
They made it back to the watch tower. Things maybe different but things will improve.
Soon they would face many challenges together.
To be continued.
