chapter 4 Thangar and change

It has been several months since the Justice league formed their were many heroes out there and there was thought for helping the league expand and making crime fighting around the world easier and better to help protect the world from harm.

Hawkgirl was thinking of Thangar and what was going on at home but she didn't want to leave earth she was happy there and she had fallen in love with John Stewart the Green Lantern. He had fallen for her too. They really loved each other.

Things were going to be difficult when something came into their solar system. They saw it was Thangarian ship. "It is from Thangar," Hawkgirl said. The ship landed by the the watch tower. They wondered if the one inside was hostile. Then a man came out and Hawkgirl ran to him and hugged him.

"Shayera," he said.

"Katar, I missed you so much big brother," Hawkgirl said. "Guys this is my older brother Katar," she said.

"Nice to meet you," the league said.

"Katar, these are my friends, this is Superman, Batman, Flash, J'onn J'onnz, Green Lantern and Wonder woman," Hawkgirl said.

"Nice to meet all of you it is good for me to see my younger sister has good friends." Katar said. "I have come to find you and take you home, mom and dad are worried and you know it is your duty as daughter of one of the grand generals to marry the man you were arranged to marry," he said.

"I know it is my duty but I don't want to do it," Hawkgirl said. "It is a duty that has been forced on me, I have another duty big brother and that is to my heart," she said.

"But Shayera if you don't this it will bring shame to the family, and father will lose his position as one of the grand generals and we will lose everything and treated as outcasts and will be shunned and hated is this what you want for your family?" Katar asked.

"No," Shayera said.

"Then we better go," Katar said.

"I know," Shayera said. "But on one condition," she said.

"Which is?" Katar asked.

"We bring my friends with me and they will be allowed to attend, and if my arranged husband will allow them be considered family which means they are considered one of us," Shayera said.

"Very well," Katar said.

"That didn't take a lot of convincing for you to get him to do that," Flash said.

"Please I have had my brother wrapped around my finger since I was born," Hawkgirl said.

They headed to Thangar. Hawkgirl hated this very much. She was hoping there was a better choice but due to her running from her duty and the possibility of bad things happening to her brother and parents she had no choice.

They made it to Thangar. "Why did you bring outsiders when you found Shayera?" one of the Grand Generals asked.

"They are he friends and she wants them to attend the wedding and she considers them to be her flesh and blood and wishes all of us to consider them to be friends." Katar said.

"Very well since that is how the bride feels she must know they are people she can trust," the grand general who spoke said. The others agreed.

Shayera was getting ready for her wedding the next day and didn't know what to do she saw the man she was going to marry and she didn't love him. She didn't like this at all but she knew she had no choice. "You are unhappy about his aren't you little sister?" Katar asked.

"I am very unhappy I just wished there was some way to change it," Shayera said.

"The only way is for a child of a Grand General to make a motion and for all eight generals to agree along with the 10 members of the council." Katar said. "But I doubt they will even listen," he said. "But if you feel like you can do it give it a try," he said.

During the wedding she was worried and thought I can speak up. "I can't do this," she said. "I wish to speak," she said. They fell silent for her to speak. "I want all of you to think about this, think about your daughters and granddaughters, and your sons and grandsons do you want to force them to do this like this for all these years. I wish to make a motion to abolish the arranged marriage law and allow us to marry out of love, because I found this force marriage even more difficult because I fell in love with someone else and I hope we can move forward instead of staying in the pass, I want to know if any of you agree with this motion," she said.

A grand general stood up. "I second the motion I agree it is time for a change," he said. "Those agree say I," he said.

"I," all the rest of the generals and council said.

"The motion has passed, the law is abolished you are free from this wedding Shayera and are free to go back to earth and be with the one you love," the grand generals said.

Everyone was so happy and Shayera ran to Green Lantern and kissed him. "I so happy about this," Shayera said.

"I am too," Green Lantern said. "I have been saving this for sometime, Shayera will you marry me?" he asked showing her the ring.

"Yes!" Shayera said.

They had blessing from her father and now things were going well and they headed back to earth.

Things were going to continue to change and welcoming in new members of the league.
