chapter 6 Metamorpho
Things were pretty calm at the moment John and Shayera were on earth relaxing and John saw someone he knew. "Mace?" John said coming up.
The man turned and saw John. "John it's good to see you again," Rex said.
"Shayera this is Rex Mason he was a good friend of mine in the Marine corp," John said.
"It's nice to meet you John told me all about you Rex," Shayera said. "I am John's fiancé,"
"He told me about you too over the phone one time you are fine lady," Rex said.
"Thank you," Shayera said.
"So how have you been Rex?" John asked.
"Pretty good," Rex said.
"Rex who are you talking too?" they saw a woman come up.
"Where are my manners, John and Shayera this is my fiancé Sapphire Stagg," Rex said.
"Don't you work for Stagg?' John asked.
"Oh daddy wasn't too happy about it after first but he is starting to come around," Sapphire said.
"I am John Rex's old Marine corp buddy," John said.
"Nice to meet you," Sapphire said.
"I am Shayera I am John's Fiancé," Shayera said.
"Nice to meet you and you are eyes sure are a stunning shade of green," Sapphire said.
"Oh thank you," Shayera said.
Then a phone rang. "Oh it's mine," Rex said. "Hello," he said picking up the phone. "Understood Mr. Stagg I will check it out right away," he said. "I got to go Mr. Stagg wants to me check something out I will be right back," he said.
"Hang on I have been meaning to give you this," John said and handed it him. "If you need help any time old friend just call okay?" he said.
"Will due buddy," Rex said.
Then Rex started to look around in the company. "Mr. Stagg?" he said and starting looking for him when suddenly he was dowsed with chemicals. "Argh!" Rex said. Then he he stumbled out afterwards. "Ugh glad that's over." he said. He felt himself changing and didn't know what was happening as he left the build. He opened the communicator. "John help," he said and collapse and before he knew it everything went black.
John saw Rex. "What happened to you?" John said. "I need to get you help right now," he said.
He took him to a hospital. There came in Mr. Stagg, Java and Sapphire. "Do you know what happened?" John asked.
"No I don't I heard there may have been a chemical leak at the company in the plant area and I called Rex to see if it was true, apparently it was I had no idea he would be affected by it," Mr. Stagg said.
"Rex is got to be okay," Sapphire said.
"Don't worry Sapphire the doctors are doing what they can for Rex," John said. "What were you working on with chemicals?" he asked.
"I was trying to see how I could use certain chemicals to help people in dangerous places I guess I was wrong to do that," Mr. Stagg said.
"Excuse me John," the doctor said.
"Yes?" John said.
"Rex is going to be okay he's lucky you got him here in a jiffy, but there is a problem," the Doctor said.
"What sort of problem doctor?" John asked.
"The chemicals changed Rex's appearance greatly and I am afraid there is nothing we can do to fix it I am afraid," the doctor said.
"Can I see him?" Sapphire asked.
"Of course you can," the doctor said.
They came in to see Rex. "Remarkable," Stagg said. "I thought something would happen if someone came in contact with the chemicals but I didn't expect this," he said.
"Rex you alright?" Sapphire asked him as she came up.
"Yes I am okay," Rex said.
"Mace." John said coming in and saw him. "Whoa," he said.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Rex asked. "You guys are staring at me like I have two heads," he said.
"There is only one head Rex but," Sapphire said and showed him his reflection in the mirror in her compact.
Rex gasped he was in shock. Then he changed and got out of there. "Rex come back," Sapphire said.
"Give him time Sapphire he probably left to sort out his thoughts." John said. "He just went through a big change and needs much support," he said.
Stagg just shook his head. "Daddy you know something don't you knew about the chemicals ability to mutate did you?" Sapphire asked.
"I did but I just feel that, you two were not suite for each other," Stagg said.
"If Rex never comes back I will never forgive you and you will never see me again," Sapphire said and ran off.
"Sapphire come back," Stagg said.
John just shook his head. "Some father doesn't care about his daughter's happiness and forgot what would make her happy should make him happy," John said. "Rex told me you use to be a very good and kind boss until the loss of your wife, and now all you are is grump who doesn't care about anyone else and wants his daughter to have what he wants and forgot the one thing that mattered to him his daughter's happiness, I hope you are happy I am going to find Mace," he said.
Stagg sighed and saw Java who shook his head at him and didn't look at him.
So Stagg went out to clear his head. "Oh Stagg," he heard. He turned as saw some crooks. "We want something from you we heard you have some chemicals that can do incredible things and we want it and will give you what you want for it," the crook said.
"Forget it I am through with that I hurt my daughter doing that and I won't do it anymore so why don't you back off?" Stagg said.
"Then you are coming with us then," the crook said took him.
Rex was walking around and saw people getting scared around him. He ran and hid. "I am nothing but a freak and a monster." Rex said.
"Help," he heard. He saw something it was fire and a child was trapped inside. He decided to help and turned his arms into water and worked on putting out the fire. Then rescued the child. The child ran to his parents.
"You did good buddy," John said.
Rex turned and saw John. "Hey," Rex said. John was in his Green lantern outfit. "I am surprised as you and it felt good to help," he said.
"I bet it did," GL said.
Sapphire was walking and saw someone who handed something to her. "Daddy," she said. She went to find help. She saw John and Rex. "Guys," she said.
"Sapphire what's wrong?" Rex asked.
"So bad people have my dad, they want the chemicals he was working on," Sapphire said.
"The chemicals that did the same thing to me?" Rex asked.
"Yes and they are holding him ransom until they get it," Sapphire said.
"Don't worry I will help him despite what he did to me," Rex said.
"Thank you," Sapphire said.
They started to search and found them. Stagg was tied up and fight started. Stagg was hit hard by one of the crooks. "You have some nerve attacking the helpless," Rex said and attacked.
"Who are you?" the crook asked after him and his friends had been beaten. "Call me Metamorpho." Rex said then tossed the crook and freed the out cold Stagg. "John I just stopped breathing." he said.
John tried to take Stagg's pulse. "His pulse is starting to go," John said.
"I got it maybe I can generate electricity and snap him out of it." Rex said.
"Go for it." John said.
So Rex start to charge electricity in short bursts from his hands on Stagg's chest to get Stagg to wake up. Then after the second time Stagg opened his eyes and started coughing. "You alright Stagg?" Rex asked.
"Yes I am thanks to you, my future and only son-in-law," Stagg said and smile.
"Let's get him to a hospital." GL said.
Once there Stagg gave his true blessing to Rex and Sapphire. "Just take good care of her okay?" Stagg said.
"I will," Rex said.
Metamorpho got to meet the rest of the league. "He was pretty amazing out there and he did much good," GL said.
"We would like you to join the league Metamorpho." Superman said.
"I would be honored and I accept." Metamorpho said.
Now Metamorpho was part of the league.
