"Welcome back folks, to Day 1 of the Grand Magic Games! With an exciting first event, we certainly hope these battles are as exciting as our main event," Chapati Lola said.
"Absolutely, and with big names like Blue Pegasus, Mermaid Heel, and Lamia Scale on the lower half of the scoreboard, they will want to claw back some valuable points in these battles," Mr. Yajima added.
"As everyone returns to their seats, here are the rules for the battles. Each battle is to last no longer than 30 minutes. If you exceed that time, the fight is considered a draw, and 5 points to each participant is given. If you win the battle you win 10 points, and if you lose you get zero. Now then, here is the battle lineup for today" Chapati Lola said, followed by...
"First up, it's Fairy Tail Team A's Lucy Heartfilia versus the Alvarez Guild's Crystal. Second, it's Fairy Tail team B's Laxus Dreyar versus Blue Pegasus's front man Ichiya Vandalay Kotobucki. Our third battle pits Lamia Scale's Yuka versus Twilight Ogre's Shrieker. Fourth in our lineup is one the top ladies of Mermaid Heel, Risley versus a top dog of Quatro Cerberus War Cry. Finally, for our fifth match, it's Sabertooth's Rufus versus Crime Sorciere's Macbeth!"
Lucy Heatfilia was first onto the grounds, wearing her signature open back blue blouse, white skirt, and brown boots high enough to almost double as pants.
The next person onto the field was Crystal Ambrose for the Alvarez Guild. She was slightly taller than Terre mere, well-endowed where it mattered and was second to Alayna in terms of eye candy for the guild. She wore an ice blue dress accented in white, this matched her white medium length hair.
As Crystal and Lucy walked towards each other for the beginning of the fight, Romeo turned to Zeldris saying, "we now know Alayna uses arc of time magic, but I wonder what she uses".
"I think it is something ice related. Remember, after I sent his fire dragon roar back at him, his mouth suddenly was covered in a big patch of ice" Zeldris said.
"Ah, that's right, she kept babbling something about her love or something too" Romeo added.
The two ladies face each other, eyeing the other with suspicion as Mato came onto the field and walked towards them.
"You know, after doing my research on you" Crystal said, "I discovered we're very similar".
A perturbed Lucy folded her arms as if somehow, she wasn't very impressed by this sentiment, before asking, "how so?".
"We both use a rare kind of magic, we both are willing to do anything for our guilds" she said before leaning in, thinking only the two of them could hear, "we're both madly in love with our fire dragon slayers, aren't we?" she finished, a smug grin on her face.
Lucy blushed bright red, thoughts of Natsu filled her mind, some of which I can't repeat. Meanwhile, the microphones had picked up the entire part of the conversation and pumped it through the stadium loudspeakers.
"You can certainly feel the love in Crocus after that admission folks" Chapati Lola said, though neither of the ladies realized that his remark was towards them.
"Good luck ladies! Don't forget, you have 30 minutes to win" Mato said as he retreated to the edge of the stadium.
"Should I give it my all?" Crystal said as she jumped back.
"I'd be offended if you didn't!" Lucy retorted.
Crystal then leaned back and shouted, "Ice Dragon Roar!" and a circular column of ice came flying towards Lucy. Lucy immediately jumped to her left to dodge it, tumbling in the dirt some as she landed.
"I will have to take this seriously," she said, pulling out a gold key from a pouch on her belt. She then moved the key from her left to her right in a G formation, saying as she moved the key, "open, gate of the maiden, Virgo!".
In a poof of smoke, the pink haired, well attractive lady who wore a maid outfit appeared.
"Greetings, princess" Virgo said as she had to jump out of the way of Crystal's next attack, an Ice Dragon Scattered Shards attack.
"My oh my Mr. Yajima, we are being treated to some fine ladies today" Chapati Lola said regarding Lucy's summoning.
"Makes me pine for my youth," Mr. Yajima responded.
"Why don't I try to win this right here and now," Crystal said with glee, jumping into the air and shouting, "Ice Dragon Ice Fist!"
Virgo managed to pull Lucy away and began tunneling below the arena grounds, popping out on the other side of the arena.
Crystal glared in frustration, "Oh no you don't!" Crystal said, reaching down to the ground and shouting, "Ice Floor!" and the dirt arena turned into a massive sheet of ice.
Virgo was unable to dig again, and both her and Lucy were struggling to stand.
"This Alvarez Guild here means business! Crystal has turned the arena into a massive ice rink" Chapati Lola said.
"That girl has a lot of magic within her, like any dragon slayer, they seem to defy all logic" Mr. Yajima said.
Crystal beamed with excitement as she planned her next move.
"Lucy! Move! She looks like she's planning something" Natsu said from the Fairy Tail team A suite.
"I'm not standing here just because I want to look pretty!" Lucy snapped back, still struggling to move, her boots practically useless on the ice as she slipped constantly, accidentally giving many quite a view of something pink underneath.
Crystal's beam quickly turned to rage as everyone including herself saw more than anyone had bargained for, "you're posing and trying to steal my fire dragon slayer!", she screamed in a rage. She moved towards Lucy with an incredible level of precision and equally incredible swiftness.
"You're mine!" She shouted towards Lucy, rage in her eyes.
"LUCY!" each of the Fairy Tail team A members shouted in unison, fearing what was about to happen.
In a flash of golden light, a black suited figure appeared out of nowhere and picked up the two ladies and skated away as Crystal slid to a stop. She was growling like a wild animal.
"Gee Lucy, you need to be more careful" the black suited man said, this was her lion spirit, Loke. Who continued to skate away from the quite irate woman, who shook off her miss and began to calculate her next attack on Lucy.
"I've got a plan" Lucy said as Loke set her down. Virgo managed to get skates on Lucy and herself. She took a second key from her pouch and touched her right shoulder with it.
"Star dress, Aries form!" and Lucy's clothes transformed in a bright flash of light. Turning into a bright pink and white dress looking almost like cotton candy, additionally, a pair of pink and black striped tights formed as well.
"You two surround her, and I'll stop her in her tracks" Lucy said, then adding, "and we will stop her together".
Loke and Virgo nodded. Loke skated towards Crystal from Lucy's left, and Virgo from Lucy's right. This flushed Crystal out from her spot and as she skated towards Lucy. Lucy then held out both her arms and shouted, "Wool Bomb!" and a cotton candy-like substance formed and stopped Crystal in her tracks.
Lucy then skated towards the confused Crystal, as Loke and Virgo converged on her as well.
Loke led the attack, a yellow light formed at his feet, "Regulus Impact!" as he
"I'll add a Virgo kick to that big brother." Virgo said, lifting her leg to kick.
"Lucy Kick!" Lucy said, as she lifted her leg to kick. All three landed their hit on the ice dragon slayer, knocking her into the air and sending her backward as she landed headfirst into the stadium wall.
She was woozy as she tried to sit up, she grunted and groaned as she looked up to the trio, "Alright, I surrender" and she hung her head in shame, visibly shaken by the entire ordeal.
"What a battle ladies and gentlemen! Lucy of Fairy Tail team A wins!" Chapati Lola said as the crowd roared their approval.
"She fought hard, and it seems we all need to train harder when we engage the fairies and others in our battles," the ominous voice within the Alvarez guild said.
"For an ice wizard, she lost her cool far too soon" Alayna said, looking towards Apollo the fire dragon slayer. He nodded in agreement regarding her statement.
"We should commit our losses to memory so we can learn from them," Ree Zay added.
"You are absolutely right Ree Zay, we must learn from our opponents with each event and battle" the voice added.
As Lucy celebrated her win, Virgo returned to the celestial spirit realm. Loke leaned in and whispered to Lucy, "I did some digging and found out about the whereabouts of Aquarius".
Lucy looked at Loke in shock as she walked off the field. Loke continued with, "I cannot tell you who is contracted to her, but I can say with certainty that he is in Crocus for the games," he finished saying and with that bombshell of information he returned to the celestial spirit realm.
"Great job Lucy!" Natsu and other members shouted from their suite as they congratulated their teammate
"With that victory, Fairy Tail team A moves to 20 points on the day! We'll see if Fairy Tail team B can duplicate their guild's victory as Laxus takes on Ichiya of Blue Pegasus!" Chapati Lola announced.
