The one shots will not be in any particular order, some will be before they do the paternity test and some will be after. If there isn't something in the story that indicates when it takes place, I'll add a note at the beginning so you have an idea of when in the timeline it takes place.
"Momma?" Max asked Amy while he watched her cook dinner a few days after learning Sheldon was his father.
"Dinner will be ready in ten minutes. Can you please set the table?" She replied without turning around.
Max gathered two place settings and arranged them on the table as he continued his thought, "Father's Day is on Sunday. What do we do for Father's Day? We had dinner with grandpa last year, but are we doing anything with Sheldon?"
Amy stopped mashing the potatoes and thought before answering. "I don't know. Do you want to do something with him on Sunday? I haven't told grandpa we were coming over so it's okay if you'd rather spend the day with Sheldon."
"This is the first time I have a dad for Father's Day. What do people usually do?" The seven-year-old asked again.
"Some people spend the day with their dad, doing things he likes to do. Other people might send him to do things he enjoys doing by himself, like golfing or fishing. A lot of people do a cookout in their backyard or at the park."
Scrunching his nose, Max didn't like any of those ideas. "Has Sheldon ever been fishing or golfing? He hates eating outside, so don't think that's a good idea."
"You're right," agreed Amy as she set their dinner on the table. "Sheldon doesn't go fishing or golfing and he definitely wouldn't like having a cookout. I'm sure we can come up with something he'd like to do with you."
Amy and Max thought of different things they could do for Sheldon before Max asked for Amy's phone to call Sheldon. "Hi, Sheldon. It's me, Max. Do you want to spend the day with me and momma on Sunday? We can go to the train store and The Cheesecake Factory." Ending the phone call, Max passed the phone back to his mother. "He sounded excited to spend the day with us. Can we go to the store so I can pick out a card for Sheldon?"
"Sure, we'll stop on the way home tomorrow."
After finishing dinner, Leonard and Penny began cleaning up as Sheldon took the call from Max. Hearing Sheldon end the call, Leonard turned to his roommate. "The guys and I are playing paintball Sunday afternoon. You never answered us during lunch when we asked if you wanted to join us."
"Sorry, I can't. Amy's taking Max to the train store and asked if I'd like to join them. You know I never turn down a trip to the train store."
"You've been spending a lot of time with them, especially the last week or so. I think tonight is the only night you haven't been with them since the two of you had to leave work early last Friday. How's that going?" Leonard questioned before joining Sheldon in the living room after washing the last of the dishes.
Sheldon slumped forward and rested his elbows on his thighs. "Max has lots of questions, which Amy and I expected. I'll be spending more time with the two of them, but we decided we should have a few nights a week that I'm not with them. We're letting Max set the boundaries of spending time with him. We're still figuring out what exactly that will look like. Amy and I have told him he can call me whenever he wants."
Smiling at Sheldon, Penny realized, "It's sweet that he wants to spend Father's Day with you. Aw, it's your first Father's Day!"
"I guess it is. When I told Max I was leaving on the day we told him, he let me know he had been sad because they were talking about Father's Day at school and he didn't have a dad, but he was no longer sad because now he does. He called me dad that night when he thought I couldn't hear him," Sheldon shared with his roommates.
"Sheldon, momma said we can pick out a new train and we can set it up right away when we get home after lunch," Max excitedly shared while climbing out of the backseat of Amy's car when they arrived at the train store late Sunday morning.
Following her son and boyfriend into the store, Amy commented, "We're having dinner with grandpa tonight, so you won't be able to play all day with it, but you'll have a few hours before we need to go to grandma and grandpa's house."
"Can Sheldon come with us?"
"I don't think that's a good idea, Max," Sheldon pointed out before continuing, "Your mom and I haven't told your grandparents that I'm your dad yet. We want all of us to have more time to figure out how this is going to work before we tell a lot of people. Your grandparents will have a lot of questions about our arrangements and we want to be able to confidently answer them."
Max looked up at Sheldon before reaching for his hand, "Oh, okay."
Amy continued to follow the pair around the store, sneaking a few pictures of the two together, knowing she would want them later. After the pair selected a train set, they returned to the car. Driving towards The Cheesecake Factory, Amy pulled into the parking lot of Walgreens, she turned to the other occupants of the car, "I'll be right back. I just need to run in quick to pick something up. Are you two okay waiting in the car?"
The group enjoyed lunch at one of Sheldon's favorite restaurants before returning to Amy's apartment for the afternoon. Amy watched them set up the new train set in the living room for a little while before quietly slipping out of the room to give them time alone together.
As it grew later and closer to the time Sheldon would need to leave so Amy and Max could go to dinner with her parents, she rejoined them, carrying two small gift bags with her. Max immediately noticed the bags, "What are those? Isn't the train Sheldon's present?"
"The train set was more of a present for both of you to enjoy together. These are another gift for both of you from me," she explained while handing each of them a bag.
Sheldon removed the tissue paper sticking out of the top of the bag and removed a picture frame. Turning the frame over to see the photo, he let out a small gasp. "Amy, how did you? When did you? This is from today."
"I took the picture at the train store when you were focused on Max. That's what I had to pick up at Walgreens. I found the frames earlier this week and knew they'd be perfect."
Max quickly opened his gift bag as well, "It's me and Sheldon," he commented seeing the photo of him holding Sheldon's hand as he looked at Sheldon while discussing a train display, taken as Amy stood behind them, so only their backs were visible.
"Thank you, Amy. This is perfect. I should get going so you two aren't late to dinner," Sheldon stood and quickly kissed Amy before turning to Max. "Thank you for asking me to spend the day with you. I look forward to next year when we do this again."
"Bye Sheldon. Happy Father's Day," the boy remarked while hugging him.
I hope you enjoyed this one. I'm not sure how often I'll be updating, but I do have a few one shots finished, so keep an eye out for updates.
