Amy and Sheldon were watching a movie while Max worked on his homework about a month after Amy and Max temporarily moved in with Sheldon. The quiet in the apartment was broken by the ringing of Amy's phone. "Hello, that's great. Thank you for letting me know," she said before ending the call and turning her attention to Max. "Our apartment is fixed. We can move back in whenever we want."

"Can we stay here?" Max looked up from the worksheet in front of him. "I like living with dad."

"I know, so do I," Amy let out a sad smile. "We knew when Sheldon agreed we could stay with him that it was only supposed to be until our apartment is fixed."

Crossing to the couch to join his parents, Max questioned, "Am I still going to get to stay here sometimes like I did before we stayed here? Can it be more than just when momma has to go to work on Saturdays?"

Sheldon quickly answered, "Of course, you can. We'll have to talk about you staying here regularly, but I'm sure we can come up with something."

"Amy, do you not want to continue living with me? I feel the past month has been a successful test of us living together," Sheldon brought up as the couple was getting ready for bed later that evening.

"You know I've enjoyed the past month together. We've told Max since the day we moved in that it was a temporary arrangement. I'm feeling conflicted over whether or not Max and I should move back to our apartment or continue living with you."

Settling into bed next to Amy, Sheldon thought aloud, "Are you thinking you need a test of returning to your apartment before making a final decision?"

"I guess, yeah," Amy rolled onto her side and rested her head against Sheldon's shoulder. "I was thinking about a more regular schedule of Max staying with you. How does him staying here on Friday and Saturday nights sound? Max and I always come over on Mondays for Thai food night, and you usually see him on Thursdays when we have date night. That would mean you don't see him Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while I don't see him on Saturdays. To even it out so we each only have one day that we don't see him, how do you feel about adding dinner on Tuesdays? You can come over to our apartment or we can come over here?"

"That sounds good. I think Max will appreciate the evenness of only having one day a week that he doesn't see each of us. I'll miss sleeping next to you each night, but I understand you want to be sure this is the right move before making it permanent," Sheldon commented before dozing off next to Amy.

Three days later, Amy and Max were back in Amy's apartment. Max had been quiet since they arrived earlier that afternoon; as Amy was tucking him in, he finally shared his thoughts on the situation. "I wish we were still at dad's apartment. I miss him not being close to us. Can we move back in with him? Or can he move in with us? But I vote for dad's apartment because Penny and Leonard are just across the hall."

"I miss Sheldon, too. He wanted us to keep living with him since the day we moved in, but I wanted us to come back to our apartment," shared Amy, sitting on the side of Max's bed.

Scowling at his mother, the eight-year-old questioned her, "If you miss him and he wanted us to keep living there, why did we have to come back here?"

"I don't know. I love Sheldon and I loved living with him. I guess I wanted us to move in with him on my terms, not because our apartment flooded and was being fixed. Now that we're back here, I'm realizing we should have stayed there," while Amy missed being near Sheldon, she was also realizing she missed these types of conversations with her son.

"So why can't we go back to dad's?"

Amy reached for Max's hand. "Let's stay here tonight. You've got school tomorrow and it's getting late. I promise I'll talk to dad tomorrow and we'll figure out a plan for us to move in with him for good. I'm sorry for dragging you back and forth like this."

"It's okay. I missed my room and all my stuff. Can we bring my bed when we move back to dad's? Leonard's bed is kind of lumpy."

Pulling the blanket up, Amy finished tucking the boy in for the night. "Good night. I love you."

Turning the corner in the physics building, Amy was relieved to see the door to Sheldon's office open. "Good morning," she said, entering the small room. "How are you?"

Sheldon looked up from his computer when Amy made her presence known. "I didn't sleep very well last night. I kept reaching for you in my sleep and would wake up when I only found your side of the bed was cold. I'm sure I'll be okay in a few days. I just need some time to adjust to you not being there."

"About that," Amy started. "Max and I were talking as I was tucking him in. I realized I made a mistake insisting we go back to my apartment. We should have only been going back to that apartment to get the rest of our stuff."

"Are you saying you and Max want to move in with me permanently?" Sheldon narrowed his eyes at his girlfriend, seeking confirmation of what she was saying.

Amy nodded slightly, "Max never wanted to leave, but yes, that's what I'm saying. I also found myself missing sleeping next to you. It will take a few days to pack everything up, but Max was ready to go back to your place last night."

Standing and walking around his desk, Sheldon wrapped his arms around Amy. "I can't wait to live with you."

"Me too, although Max has requested we bring his bed because Leonard's is lumpy."
