Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.
Chapter 20: That One Step on the ladder.
It took us some time to shake off the Lostelle incident and return to travelling. Since we had already lost two days, we were quite behind our schedule. However, we ended up changing our plans accordingly, so we didn't really have to rush. We had stayed in Neon city the next day but unlike last time, there was no Jigglypuff affair. I was not sure whether this was a good thing or a bad thing, but it is what it is.
The areas around Neon City were some of the most industrialised ones in the entire region. A vast amount of industries that employed thousands of people were clumped together in close proximity. As a region, Kanto was rather famous for its agricultural industries. Since the region had a wide variety of weather in different areas, it was ideal for growing different types of crops. The large amount of strong Pokémon only helped to further this advantage. Since most of the region was filled with agricultural lands, the industries were usually clumped together.
The flip side to this grouping was the fact that this area was one of the most polluted areas in any region. The rivers were filled with sludge and other waste materials that made it nearly inhospitable for almost any life except for a few poison types like Grimer and the odd Magikarp. At one point, the pollution had gotten so severe that the Government was forced to draw up a new Act to curb pollution. Nowadays, the waste water in the rivers had to go through a waste treatment plant before being released into the open ocean. With such an urban background, Neon City was a sprawling metropolis with a vast number of people living in it. It was among the larger cities of Kanto but there was no gym here due to the sole reason that most of the people that lived here were workers- formal and informal included.
Pokémon training as a profession is something that very few people could take up. As a kid, most people opt to try their hand at the thing but like every other job in the world, skill mattered. Most of them would realise that they lacked the talent for the profession by the time that they were teenagers. Sure, they would be able to rack up wins against some of the weaker trainers or gym leaders, but to be a pro, one had to consistently win big in the top level which hardly many people could do. Most people that start their journey as a kid would end up settling for a job that suited them with fond memories of their time as a travelling trainer the only souvenir they had of that stage in their lives.
I was one of the few dumb yet talented trainers of my generation. Despite my constant fuck ups in the form of resetting my party at every region, I had without fail made it into the knockout rounds of every single league that I had entered (Also called plot armour) as a kid. The point is that while most of the people living in this city had their own Pokémon, they were no longer active in the competitive scene.
Brock and I decided to go shopping in the city to restock on our supplies which didn't take long. The supermarkets in the city were spread throughout it and every single one of it held all the items that we needed. The Pokémon centre which was the least busy building in the city due to the low number of visiting trainers had a lot of space for us to live. We were planning on leaving the city at the morning. At least, that was the plan but then, Cynthia happened.
Before one goes into what happened with Cynthia, one must know who Cynthia is. Back in my first life, the first time I met her was in Sinnoh but I had seen enough of her during the later stages of my career to know who she was and how she had gotten to where she did.
Cynthia unlike most trainers didn't get her starter at the age of ten. Her grandmother only allowed her to journey with her Gible across Sinnoh only after she had reached the age of sixteen. Like most champions, it ended up mattering less as the girl was a natural prodigy in raising strong Pokémon and trained really hard as well. This catapulted her to the top of the sinnoh non- elite trainers in just one year. By the time she reached the Sinnoh League, her team was so incredibly well balanced that she had no obvious weaknesses. After winning the Sinnoh League on her first attempt, being the first trainer in the history of that League to do so, she had went on a training trip across all the six regions to learn more about different strategies and Pokemons. After three years of training, she returned for the Elite 4 challenge and became the third youngest Champion at the age of 20 since Red and Blue accomplished the same at the age of 12. She was the youngest champion since the Pokémon League adopted the Regional Championship format for the Elite four challenge rather than straight up challenging the Elite 4 after getting 8 badges.
She was also the second strongest champion during my rookie years second only to Steven who was four years her senior. And to top it all off, she was the fifth trainer in history to own a level 100 Pokémon in the form of her Garchomp which was a near invincible monster. Red and Blue owned four each followed closely by their fellow trainer from Pallet Town, Leaf who had three of her own. Steven had two one of them which was a Salamence and the other his Metagross. It was wildly speculated that if Cynthia had not abdicated from her position as Champion to chase her passion for researching Ancient ruins, she very well might have had a few more. The very same Cynthia was now standing in front of us.
"Are you guys Pokémon trainers as well?" From what I remember, Kanto was the first region that she had visited during her training trip. So she should not have become the monster that I knew her as.
"Yes. Well, I just started out on my own league challenge. My name's Ash by the way. I am from Pallet Town." I introduced myself.
"My name is Brock. I used to be the Pewter City gym leader but I retired to become a Pokémon breeder. And you are?"
"Oh! Where are my manners? My name is Cynthia. I am from Solaceon Town in the Sinnoh region." She was quite cheerful now as opposite to the mature, calm woman I remembered her to be. I suppose age does that to people.
Cynthia was every bit as beautiful as I remembered her to be. While her teenage body had yet to completely develop the curves that it had as an adult she was still a drop dead gorgeous beauty. Her platinum blond hair had already grown to its full length and was cut just above her waist. She was wearing rather modest attire comprising of a loose fitting t-shirt and jeans.
"Sinnoh? I've never heard of it. Is it near Johto by any chance?" To be honest, Brock's lack of knowledge about Sinnoh was not that surprising given that the region lacked any significance for Kanto. We had no commercial dealings with the place except for the Pokémon League and as such only a few like the top management of the League and the Elite 4 knew about the place. This however was set to change in three years with the discovery of Electivire and Magmortar.
The discovery of further evolutions for some of the Pokémon from other regions was the push that put Sinnoh on the map for the first time. Due to the vast majority of elite Kanto trainers having at least one of the Magmar, Electabuzz or Megneton line, they had to go to Sinnoh at least one time. However many of them chose to stay due to the presence of really good trainers and Pokémon which led to many Sinnoh trainers coming to Kanto as well. The leap in technological advancements also helped this as the different regions were connected for the first time in history. The Tv and Radio stations across the regions started airing programmes from other regions which helped to increase public interest as well.
"Sinnoh? Do you know Professor Rowan?"
"You know Professor Rowan?! How?! Not a single person I've met since coming here knows anything about Sinnoh!" She was shocked which made sense.
"It's not that I know him personally. I've worked with Professor Oak who is the regional professor here. Professor Rowan visited the lab in Pallet Town once and I recall hearing about the Sinnoh region from Professor Oak afterwards. Technically speaking, I had indeed met Professor Rowan here in Kanto but that meeting wouldn't happen at least ten years in the future. However he did visit Professor Oak once back when I was around eight years old.
"Oh man! It's nice to finally meet someone who knows about Sinnoh. Nobody here seems to know anything about the place which is quite weird since Kanto is quite well known back home."
"I have no idea either why that is the case. In my opinion, it might be because of the high dropout rates of trainers here. Not many people go out of the region in the first place." I mean, I am not wrong when I say this since Kanto for the past decade has the highest quitting rates of trainers in any single region. The lack of activities other than battling was a major problem since not all trainers are battle oriented and those trainers had nothing they could do to remain pro while not battling. The introduction of the Pokémon Contest circuit in the region in three years was something that the League did to try and curb the dropout rates.
"Why tho? Shouldn't they want to go to the other regions to become better?"
"Who knows? Anyways, what brings you here to Kanto Ms Cynthia?" I changed the topic since I didn't want to come off as too knowing.
"Nothing much, I was training my Pokémon by visiting different regions to prepare for the Elite 4 challenge." She said but she was interrupted by Brock.
"Wait! The Elite 4 Challenge?! So you won the League?" Brock's surprise was not unfounded in this case due to how young she was.
"Well yes, I won the Sinnoh League conducted two months ago." Since her league only ended two months ago, she must not have trained her Pokémon that much which was perfect for what I was about to do next.
"That's awesome! Congratulations." Brock said wholeheartedly.
"Thank you." She was smiling as she said this.
"Congratulations Ms Cynthia. Say, could you please battle me once? I know I'm not as strong as you are but I would like the experience." I was not dumb enough to think that I could beat her as I was now. Even though she had a lot to row, her team should still be around level 65 or more. Still, it would be a good experience for my newer Pokémon to know where they stand.
"Sure. I also wanted to see how trainers battled in Kanto as well. Please take care of me." She replied with enthusiasm.
"All right, please go to the battlefield behind the Pokémon Centre. I shall come there as soon as I switch a couple of my Pokémon." I needed to bring in Gengar and Alakazam as both Gyarados and Dratini were too weak for a fight of this magnitude. I called Professor Oak who was more than happy to send them back. Both of them had not been lazy and had even gained four levels while in the ranch by battling the Pokémon there. I was now ready as I can be for the biggest fight of my new life.
"You know Ash, this is simultaneously the bravest and stupidest thing you've done since we started this journey. However, this is going to be a great thing for you in the long run. So good luck and show her what you've got." Brock, who had been waiting for me near the exit of the Pokémon Centre said.
"Thank you Brock."
"The following is a six on six Pokémon battle between Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town and Cynthia from Solaceon Town. Switching Pokémon is not allowed and the battle will be over when one trainer runs out of Pokémon to use. Trainers, please send out your first Pokémon." Brock as always, was the one refereeing.
"Roserade, take the stage." As the stronger trainer, it was common courtesy that Cynthia send her Pokémon out first. She went with the final evolution of the Roselia line which was a good choice since they had a huge movepool with phenomenal stats to back it up.
"Alakazam, you're up first buddy." Since he was a Psychic type, I reckon Alakazam could take down the much stronger Poison Grass type. However, it was sure to me that he would be useless afterwards.
"Alakazam vs Roserade. Let the battle commence."
"Roserade, use Toxic." It seemed that my prediction was right as Cynthia went straight for the Toxic poisoning first. This was honestly a great move as Healing items were prohibited in battle and Alakazam did not learn any status healing moves.
"Don't bother with that and use Future Sight." Alakazam did as told and took the Toxic without bothering to dodge. He used his deep Psychic powers to set up the Future Sight attack which would arrive after a few minutes.
"Now use Ingrain."
"Use Psychic bud."
Since both of us gave our orders at the same time, Alakazam who was faster landed the move first. Due to the level difference between the two, the super effective attack only did about a third of Roserade's HP as damage. However, the rose Pokémon was able to shrug off the attack's effect and laid its roots which allowed it to get back some health at regular intervals.
"That attack did way more damage than I expected. Your Alakazam sure is powerful Ash." Cynthia said. "Roserade, use Magical Leaf."
"Alakazam Thunder Wave."
Since I was a little late in calling the attack, Roserade got the hit first. It did quite a good amount of damage but the Psychic type was able to shrug off the attack and successfully paralyze the grass Pokémon. Since switching out was prohibited, I had no need to worry about Natural Cure working. Roserade regained a little health from the roots it had laid.
"Roserade, use Giga Drain."
"Protect and Recover."
Alakazam set up an invisible barrier which shrugged off the powerful Grass type move. He soon concentrated in recovering his lost HP and regained it perfectly. However, the Future Sight attack which had been called had materialised soon after which took Roserade's health to below 50 percent.
"Use Synthesis." Cynthia wanted to salvage the situation.
"Use Psychic once again bud."
I had originally wanted to lower Roserade's HP down within manageable levels but to mine and Cynthia's surprise, Roserade went down after taking the Psychic. I don't really know whether it was due to the Special Defence drop or the move critting but it was a welcome surprise for me. The first battle was finally over.
"Roserade is unable to battle. Trainer Cynthia please send out your next Pokémon." Brock announced.
"Roserade, take a good rest." Cynthia said as she recalled her fallen Pokémon. "Spiritomb, I need your assistance." The Dark-Ghost type was rightfully next. This battle was a guaranteed loss for me but I decided to try my luck anyways.
"Spiritomb vs Alakazam, commence."
As soon as Brock finished, I called out. "Alakazam use Toxic."
"Spiritomb, use Shadow Sneak."
However my call was too late as Spiritomb vanished before the Toxic could meet with it. It soon appeared inside Alakazm's shadow as Alakazam was paralyzed due to the Ghost-type move. Spiritomb soon landed a strong attack which caused Alakazam to faint as he had a low physical defence. The score was now one-one.
"Alakazam is unable to battle. Trainer Ash sent out your next Pokémon."
"Alakazam, you did fantastic buddy. Now take a good rest." I recalled my fallen Pokémon.
"Venusaur, you are up my friend." I had formulated a plan and now I needed Venusaur to execute it.
"Venusaur vs Spiritomb commence."
"Spiritomb, use Shadow Sneak again."
"Venusaur, use Toxic."
The Ghost-type priority move hit first but owing to his natural bulk and not being weak against the move, Venusaur only lost a fifth of his HP as damage. He was successful however, in poisoning the otherwise slow moving Ghost-type.
"Venusaur, use Razor Leaf."
"Spiritomb, use Hypnosis."
"Oh Shit! Venusaur, dodge it buddy."
My calls however were useless as Venusaur had already used the attack. It connected perfectly but the tanky Ghost was able to shrug off the effect and put Venusaur to sleep. Toxic did start doing damage but things were taking an ugly turn for me.
"Spiritomb, use Dream Eater."
I had no counters and was forced to watch as the super-effective Psychic move laid waste to my sleeping Pokémon. Owing to his high defences, the move only cut half of his HP but there was nothing worth having hope for. Toxic took effect once again and cut Spiritomb's HP by one-fifth after it had recovered some via Dream Eater.
"Spiritomb, use Dream Eater once more."
The formalities were done with and Venusaur fainted. Spiritomb recovered its lost HP out of which it lost more than a quarter due to Toxic. I just needed to stall until Spiritomb fainted.
"Venusaur is unable to battle. Trainer Ash, use your next Pokémon."
"Venusaur, you did good buddy. Blastoise, you are next." I recalled my Grass type before sending out my Water Type. Blastoise stood the Best chance against Spiritomb in my current squad.
"Spiritomb use Hypnosis once more." It seemed Cynthia wanted to try the same strategy once more.
"Blastoise, dodge it."
This time around we were prepared and Blastoise easily dodged the hypnotic beam. Spiritomb was now at half of his health.
"Spiritomb, use Shadow Sneak." Cynthia opted for a sure damage to weaken my Pokémon for the next battle. However I was not going to let her do that.
"Blastoise, use Protect."
Since Shadow Sneak was a priority move and had zero chances of missing, I was forced to make Blastoise defend using Protect. The Invisible walls of Protect saved him from the Ghost move and thanks to Toxic, it had only a quarter of its HP left.
"Spiritomb, use Curse."
"Blastoise, use Protect once more."
It seemed that Cynthia wanted to take Spiritomb out with a bang but Protect activated once again which prevented the status ailment from Curse. Spiritomb took itself out and Blastoise had beaten it without taking any damage.
"Spiritomb is unable to battle. Trainer Cynthia, please sent your next Pokémon."
"That was a fantastic strategy Ash but don't expect to get lucky again." Cynthia was quite upbeat still due to having her ace still left in her hands. "Spiritomb, you did fantastic. Now take a good rest in here." She recalled her Pokémon. "Lucario, take the stage." Out came the aura Pokémon.
"Lucario vs Blastoise, commence."
"Lucario use Aura Sphere."
"Blastoise, use Mirror Coat."
Owing to its superior speed, Aura Sphere connected with Blastoise first. He took a lot of damage from the attack, losing nearly half his health in the process. But Mirror coat did double the damage to Lucario who was down to red HP with that single hit. Cynthia knew that she no longer had the option to use special moves unless she was sure that it would knock out Blastoise.
"Lucario, use Dragon Pulse."
"Blastoise, use Mirror Coat."
To my horror, Cynthia still went for the special move which Blastoise barely survived at red HP. He promptly returned the damage to Lucario who fainted. However, Blastoise would not survive the next battle unless some miracle happened.
"Lucario is unable to battle. Trainer Cynthia, sent out your next Pokémon."
"I must give it to you Ash. For a Rookie trainer, you sure do have some amazingly powerful Pokémon and strategy. However this is as far as you will go." Cynthia was getting fired up which spelled trouble for me. I was getting a bad feeling from this.
"Garchomp my friend, let's show what we are capable of." Just as I had feared, the Sinnoh Pseudo Legendary Pokémon made its appearance. Although she was nowhere as frightening as her Level 100 monstrous self, she was an intimidating Pokémon nonetheless. Cynthia's Garchomp used to be near invincible back in the day.
"Garchomp vs Blastoise, Commence.
"Blastoise use Ice Beam."
"Garchomp use Dragon Rush."
Before Blastoise could charge up the Ice type attack, Garchomp who had cloaked herself in Draconic energy crashed into the giant turtle. If Blastoise was at full health, he could have survived the hit but Lucario had taken too much out of him. Blastoise fell as soon as the attack hit.
"Blatoise is unable to battle. Trainer Ash sent out your next Pokémon."
"You did amazing buddy." I recalled the fallen turtle Pokémon. "Gengar, I need your help." She was my last hope for taking down this Pokémon.
"Gengar vs Garchomp, Commence."
"Garchomp use Dragon Rush once more." Just as I predicted, Garchomp went for the One hit KO. However this was going to be my saving grace.
"Gengar use Destiny Bond."
Garchomp who had cloaked herself in her energy went straight for Gengar who quickly finished setting up the Destiny Bond due to her great speed. "Oh no!" I heard Cynthia exclaim but it was too late. One of the primary disadvantage of the move Dragon Rush was the fact that the Pokémon using it wouldn't be able to listen to orders until the move was executed. She crashed straight into the waiting Gengar who with her abysmal Physical Defense, fainted without a chance. To my immense relief, Garchomp soon fell as well indicating that the move had worked. This should be her first loss.
"Both Gengar and Grachomp is unable to battle. Trainers, sent out your next Pokémon."
"Gengar return." I recalled my Ghost-type. "You saved me here girl. Take a nice long rest inside."
"Garchomp return. I am sorry for falling into that trap girl." Cynthia for the first time in this match, looked truly unsettled which was understandable as this should be the first time she was forced to a corner. "Milotic, take the stage." The serpentine Pokémon was next.
"Charizard, you're up buddy." In a way, I think this was a checkmate as I actually had no counters for this Pokémon. Charizard's brute strength was my last hope.
"Milotic vs Charizard, Commence."
"Charizard use Earthquake."
"Milotic, Rain Dance."
The very ground we stood on shook with the power of the Ground type move which did considerable damage on the grounded serpentine Pokémon, taking almost thirty five percent of her HP but she shook off the effects and set up the rain which started out as slow drizzle before becoming a full force shower in the span of a few minutes. Charizard's skin which was hotter than the boiling point of water was constantly giving out steam from all the water that evaporated after falling on him. He was shrouded in a tiny layer of Mist which looked ethereal. The arrival of rain spelt trouble for my Fire-type since all his moves will be weakened now.
"Charizard use Earthquake once more."
"Milotic use Hydro Pump."
Charizard once again connected with Earthquake which brought Milotic's HP down to a manageable level but the Rain Boosted Water –type attack hit Charizard like a truck. The torrent of water succeeded in sending him back a few feet, a feat that was quite scary due t how big he was, as well as taking 60 percent of his HP.
"Milotic use Recover."
"Charizard, use Earthquake once more."
Despite having the superior speed, Charizard was unable to hit the Earthquake fast enough to beat Milotic who recovered half of her HP before the attack reached her. Now she had around 60 percent of her HP left while Charizard had only 40.
"Milotic use Hydro Pump once more."
"Dodge it Charizard and use Slash."
Before the torrent of water could reach him,Charizard took off in a flash to the skies, his constant training of his wings helping him a lot in doing this. He flew around in circles until Milotic was unable to keep the water flowing any more before closing in on her and clawing at her. Milotic was now at 40 percent health.
"Milotic, use Recover."
"Charizard, Earthquake."
Before Milotic could use her attack, Charizard shot down to the ground and used the Ground Type move at point blank range which did a lot of damage. Milotic fell down soon after which indicated that she had fainted. The attack must have critted at that time.
"Miilotic is unable to battle. Trainer Cynthia, use your next Pokémon."
"Milotic, you did great. Togekiss, you are my last hope." Cynthia recalled her fallen Pokémon before sending out the final evolution of the Togepi line.
"Charizard vs Togekiss, Commence."
"Charizard, use Wing Attack."
"Togekiss, use Air Slash."
Before Charizard could get near Togekiss who had taken off the ground, the air blades from the attack hit him near the wings which cut his flight and took him down. Before Charizard could recover from the damage, Cynthia had already called for the next move.
"Togekiss, use Ancient Power."
The four times super effective move hit the already weakened Charizard like a sledge hammer. He couldn't even mount a good defence and fell down exhausted. Charizard had fainted.
"Charizard is unable to battle. Trainer Ash, use your final Pokémon."
"Pidgeot, I need your help." The trusty bird Pokémon was my last hope.
"Pidgeot vs Togekiss, Commence."
"Togekiss use Ancient Power again."
"Pidgeot dodge it"
Togekiss used the Rock type move once more but Pidgeot was able to dodge it. However, she was unable to mount an attack in return.
"Togekiss, use Ancient Power once more."
"Pidgeot, dodge it and use Gust."
Pidgeot once again was able to dodge the incoming attack and hit the flying opponent with a powerful gust however, due to the level differences, it only did a tenth of Togekiss's HP as damage.
"Togekiss, use Aura Sphere."
"Pidgeot, use wing Attack."
The unavoidable Fighting type move hit Pidgeot hard but she still hit back with Wing Attack in retaliation. However, the Omni Boost from Ancient power meant that Togekiss took way less damage than I expected. The Aura Sphere had already took 40 percent of Pidgeot's HP.
"Togekiss, use Aura Sphere again."
"Pidgeot, use Quick Attack."
Pidgeot hit first but the Aura Sphere brought her down to just 20 percent HP. The next attack was the end. I could feel it.
"Togekiss, Aura Sphere once more."
"Pidgeot, use Wing Attack."
My bird Pokémon was unable to hit the opponent since Aura Sphere took her down before that. Pidgeot fell down slowly from the sky and after making sure that she landed safely, she fainted marking my first loss since I had been reborn.
"That was a great match Ms Cynthia." I decided to suck up my disappointment and honestly congratulated the winner.
"My thoughts exactly Ash. I've never been pushed this hard before in my life, not even during the Sinnoh League. Are you sure that you are only a Rookie trainer?" Cynthai who was relieved, was once again speaking calmly.
"Thanks for the compliment Ms Cynthia. Next Time I fight you, I'll be the one winning." I challenged her with a smile.
"In your Dreams. Next time I'll crush you." She declared as well.
We spend the next hour healing up our team and talking about random things. I ended up registering her Pokedex contact number before she finally left the city to go to Fuschia.
"How do you feel after your first loss?" Brock asked, looking a little concerned.
"Nothing too bad, Brock. I just got an idea of how much I need to grow before I can truly play with the big guns." This battle was nothing big in my eyes as I already knew that I had a lot of growing to do before I could call myself one of the best in the world. Almost all the Champions of the different regions had a team full of Pokémon in Level 90's. Compared to them, my Pokémon were simple fodders. Of course, once we reached those levels we would be unstoppable and all we needed to get there was time, something we had lot of in our hands.
"Good. Just take this loss as a reminder and I'm sure that you'll be up there one day." He encouraged me.
We were about to head out of the City and head towards Cinnabar when the Egg ball started making noise. It seemed that it was time for the egg to hatch. I had always taken good care of the egg during night so I was not surprised at how soon the egg hatched. Pokémon eggs hatched faster if one gave it continuous care. The egg started glowing and a few cracks appeared in it. Soon the entire egg shell fell apart and a tiny bipedal Pokémon emerged from it. To my immense surprise and Brock's confusion, it was a baby Bagon.
"What is this Pokémon?" Brock was confused.
"It is a Bagon. But why is a Bagon egg here in Kanto? These things are near impossible to find even in Hoenn due to how rare they are." Salamence had the second longest breeding cycle of all Pokémon at ten years, second only to fellow Hoenn Pseudo legendary Metagross. As they only laid one egg, Bagon eggs were virtually impossible to find.
"Hey System?"
"Yes Host."
"Does this Bagon have anything to do with you?"
"No. This egg was purely the Host's own finding. The system is not at all involved."
"I see. Thanks for the clarification."
"You are welcome."
I couldn't believe my luck but as the saying goes, do not look at a gift horse in the mouth. I introduced myself to the newborn Pokémon who had already been used to my voice and presence during its life in the egg and had imprinted on me. I captured it in a Luxury Ball that I had bought for cheap before immediately bringing it back since I wanted it to remain outside the Pokeball for now. I took out Dexter who gave the following information.
Bagon, The Rock Head Pokémon.
Although it is small, this Pokémon is very powerful because its body is a bundle of muscles. It launches head butts with its iron-like skull.
This Bagon is a male and has the ability Sheer Force.
This Bagon is currently level 1 and knows the moves Dragon Dance, Dragon Rage, Thrash and Twister.
"That is one heck of a move pool for sure." I congratulated the little guy before taking him into my arms. He fit perfectly and soon, we were off towards the next destination.

Hory shet that's a lot of words (for me that is. Some authors can write 20k low diff.). Anyways, this chapter introduced Ash's first loss and his first full battle. I hope that it didn't bore you to death since if you felt that the battle was bad, then this chapter is almost completely useless.
Anyways, I introduced Cynthia who made a small cameo but won't be making a full time appearance anytime soon. Also, all the fights in this chapters are based on the game stats and damage calculators, not the anime one cause trust me, if I were to go purely according to my thoughts, then Charizard would never lose. Also, the game mechanics enables me to write a full fight which I suck at regardless.
Now Cynthia's team is taken from Platinum which is the only Sinnoh game I've ever played due to how unbalanced Diamond or Pearl is. It has a pretty good coverage which would have decimated Ash's team had there not been a higher power (aka me) at work here.
Also, Bagon has officially joined the team though he won't be a full time battler anytime soon. Before I leave, I wanted to ask you guys whether the first few chapters of this fic sucks. I got a review asking me to rewrite the Prologue, which I take rather seriously cause I feel like the person has a point. I wanted to know the opinion of you guys before doing it.
Last but not least. Here's a little fun fact. The ten percent boosted stats that I had given to Ash's Pokémon took their stats to a little higher than their level. Gengar and Alakazam at level 50 had the same stats as a Gengar or Alakazam at level 53. Pidgeot, Blastoise and Venusaur had stats of level 57 and Charizard had a stat of level 73.
Anyways, I am healthy now and I hope you guys will remain so as well. As always read and review cause I love those things. See ya.
