Chapter 25: Speedrunning through sixteen episodes worth of character development in a day.

A lot of things happened after the gym fight at Cinnabar Island chief among them being the fact that Brock now had new Pokemon that were revived from the lab. And we had gotten in touch with Professor Oak who was absolutely stoked about all the prehistoric Pokemon send to the lab.

Apparently, the discovery had blown up among the scientific community who were now trying every possible locations across the six regions to find similar occurances. Did I know where to find such Pokemon in the other regions? Yes I did. But I couldn't really tell anything to anyone, could I?

We did a lot of things in Cinnabar, so much so that we ended up spending a week there but I wasn't complaining. I did end up making the purchase of all the available TMs in the mart and taught some of them to my Pokemon.

After leaving Cinnabar Island, we made our way back to Viridian City where the eighth gym was located. I had always found it weird that the closest gym to Pallet Town was the strongest in Kanto. But I suppose Giovanni was too ruthless to be a starter gym leader.

When Team Rocket fell, Viridian gym was in a bit of an awkward situation with not many people willing to step up to the mantle of the Gym leader. After a bit of discussion, the League found a guy named Michael who filled in the position.

I wanted to say that I had a good fight with the man but then I would be lying. I mean as strong as his Pokemon were, I had three of the strongest ground type Pokemon counters in the region. Even though ours was a six on six battle, Blastoise alone nearly knocked the stuffing out of his Pokemon before I decided to cut him some slack and send Gyarados out for a quickie.

After the fight, Brock and I decided to split up since he wanted to go back to his home for a while and I wanted to return to Pallet Town.

My return to Pallet Town was a quiet affair although some of the neighbours went out of their way to congratulate me for completing the gym challenge. Gary had already returned a week prior and had gone off to train somewhere in the Sevii Islands.

I had stayed home for a day, catching up with mom and introducing my Pokemon to her and learned that Mewtwo of all things had taken a liking to keeping her company.

Once all the pleasantries were dealt with, the training started. The league was only a month away which wasn't that scary of a thought since most of my Pokemon were strong enough already. But some extra precautions were never a bad thing to have and so I used Professor's help to get permission from the League to train in the foothills of Mt Silver.

Although, the peak with its notoriously powerful Pokemon was prohibited to anyone who hasn't reached top 8 at any league, the Pokemon at the foothills were more than strong enough to be good training partners.

Our training went on for three weeks straight as every one of my Pokemon were put through the wringer I also discovered a feature in the system that allowed to improve the experience gained by them after battle. But soon I learned that the system had drawbacks as well since my Pokemon stopped levelling up after level 75.

When I asked the system why this was, it had replied that I needed to do well in the league to upgrade the level cap. Charizard was the first to the peak and was shortly followed by his Starter buddies. Pidgeot, Gengar and Alakazam all hit the cap at almost the same time.

Gyarados was the last in the team to cap out and Dratini, who had gone all the way into becoming a Dragonite could only reach level 65 even with the boosted experience.

As for little Bagon, he was a solid level 20 now but without any combat experience under his belt since he received most of his levels by switch training. I had started his physical training but he was little too young for real battles right now and I didn't want to risk anything with him.

Since the league was starting in a week, it was time to head back home to prepare everything. Brock should have been back by now.

As I was about to exit the area, I remembered something.

'Hey system, fire up the Pokefinder. '

Would you like to find one of them?'

"I knew it!" "System, find me a Larvitar."

'Command accepted..

Commencing search...

Pokemon located...

Initiating encounter in 3... 2... 1 now. '

As soon as the system finished saying this, some of the tall grass nearby started to shake and soon, a small bipedal Pokemon ran out

Larvitar by nature of their habitats are weak Pokemon and so their mothers usually raise them until they can take care of themselves. The one standing in front of me was mature looking and was almost twice the size of a normal one.

"Dragonite, you're up." I called out my very own Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon. Although she was a big girl now, the evolution process hadn't done anything drastic to her personality. In essence she was still the shy old Dratini but with a large amount of confidence and experience behind her.

As soon as it saw Dragonite, the Larvitar's eye shined in glee. It glanced at her for a bot before shaking it's head and trotting over to me and pointed it's tiny little hand at a Pokeball on my waist

"You wanna come with me then?!" I'm no expert on Pokemon speech but it didn't mean that I couldn't understand some of it.

And sure enough, the little guy bobbed his head back and forth in affirmation. It was a simple capture from then and since I was already with my hold limit, he was send tho the Professor's lab.

On my way out, I informed one of G-men out on patrol about my encounter with a Larvitar since it was a protected species but they did a quick check and informed me that it was fine since I hadn't entered the reserve area. Apparently they had heat sensing cameras all around to prevent intruders or something.

Pidgeot, who had now taken up the mantle of my primary flyer, took me back home in just under an hour but that was because we were flying without any hurry. It was nearly night when we reached there and the first thing I did was to go check on Larvitar.

"Ash my boy! Tell me are you in trouble?!" The furst thing that greeted me was a frantic Professor Oak.

"What makes you say that Professor?! I haven't broken any laws as far as I know."

"Then how do you explain your newest Pokemon?! Do you not know that entering into the reserve area of Mt Silver is strictly prohibited?!"

"But I didn't enter there. I caught him wandering around where I was training. I even informed the Reserve of the situation. " I explained.

" Is that true?! Phew! I thought I was a goner for a moment there. " The Professor sighed in relief. " Although, I must say that it is quite rare for a Larvitar to be that close to the base of the mountain, especially in our side. I wonder what happened? " Now that he had calmed down, the inner scientist in the Professor came out.

"I was wondering about that as well. But I guess I just got lucky." I lied.

"I suppose you might want to check your new addition eh. Wait here for a moment. " The Professor went back into the lab before returning with Larvitar's Pokeball. I promptly released the little guy who looked a little disoriented in the new surroundings.

I tooked Dexter out who gave me the following information.

"Larvitar, the Rock Skin Pokemon.

A Larvitar is born deep under the ground. It must eat it's way up to the surface to see the face of it's parents.

This Larvitar is a male and has the ability Guts.

This Larvitar is currently at level 25 and knows the moves Bite, Sandstorm, Dragon Dance, Outrage and Rock Slide. "

" Two egg moves huh. That is a mighty fine Pokemon you have there my boy. He'll grow up to become one of your strongest Pokemon. " The Professor, who was next to me said.

"Thanks professor." Since I had done what I had intended to do, I took Larvitar with me before saying goodbye to the professor for the day.

The next day was supposed to be a break for all my Pokemon since we had been training for a long time without any breaks. Most of them opted to stay in the lab's research area.

Since we were relaxing, I decided to give some of them a massage to soothe their nerves.

Most of my Pokemon were far larger than an average member of their species and so they took up a lot of space. Especially Gyarados who at full stretch, was well over 15 metres in length.

We spend most of the day relaxing while I helped the Professor out with his research materials. One of the things he was researching into was the Aggron clan I had caught and how they had gotten into Kanto. He had made several calls to different professors across the region's who were studying Pokemon behaviour and they had came into the conclusion that they must have been abandoned by a trainer and later started breeding.

It was a sad to think that people were abandoning their partners for no reason but I didn't want to delve too much into that. I decided to go and greet them.

The group had taken up residence inside a small rocky cave near the back of the lab. When I entered the cave, the bigger of the two Aggrons was taking a nap while it's mate and the kids were nowhere to be seen.

"Hey there big guy." I greeted the sleeping giant.

"Grrr." Hearing my greeting, the big guy woke up and gave a low growl as a greeting.

I spend a little time talking to him about the conditions while guessing his answers through his actions. The others returned after a while and I was pleased to see that all of them were healthy. The three Lairons all were on the verge of evolution themselves and the little Aron had grown a lot since I last saw him.

After making sure that everything was fine with them, I went back to the lab before heading back home.

Early in the morning of the next day, I found myself in the lab as professor Oak had summoned me for some reason. The path to the Indigo League wouldn't open untill three days so I had time to pass.

I reached the lab only to find out that Gary had returned.

"Hello Gary." I greeted my oldest rival. His personality was drastically different from the one I knew but I wasn't complaining.

"Hello Ashy-boy. I presume you are done with your training? "

" Yep. You have any idea why Professor called us here so early? "

" I don't. I just returned here yesterday evening and Daisy told me in the morning that Gramps was calling for me. "

We talked a bit for a while until the Professor came back.

" Good to see that both of you are here. I need you to do something for me." The Professor said.

"What is it Gramps?" Gary asked.

"It's nothing major. Gary you remember Professor Westwood right?"

" You mean that obnoxious guy who has created the Pokedex entries and is obsessed with Slowpoke's evolution?"

" I guess you can say that. "

" I'm sorry Professor but who are we talking about?" I interjected.

" Oh right! I forgot that you wouldn't know him Ash. Well, Professor Westwood is an old friend of mine. He's one of the people who worked with me to create the Pokedex and be is also the one who helped to create the Pokedex entries for most Pokemon in the Kanto dex.

Well, he's a bit different from most people tho. You'll find out when you meet him." The Professor explained.

As far as Professor Westwood goes, I only had a small memory of him from my. past since we hadn't met again after my Kanto league run.

"So what exactly do we need to do here?" Gary asked.

"Westwood called me last night and said that there's been a Pokemon outbreak near his lab. He only has two assistants with him and both of them are not battlers. So he wanted me to send someone there to help. I was originally thinking of asking the League but then I remembered you two was here. It'll be a good experience for you."

" That's fine Professor so where exactly is this place?" I asked.

"Here, I'll show you." He said before handing a map to us. The location of Professor Westwood's lab was marked in it.

" So Gary, how are you planning on getting there?" I asked.

"I'll have Aerodactyl give me ride."

"Great! Then let's get to it."

It was quick journey to the small island where the Westwood research laboratory was situated. Pidgeot was quick but Aerodactyl was not slow by any means. The island itself was much like I remembered it to be with a small beach and an imposing looking lab building at the end of the beach. There was no visible movements in the beach which was intriguing.

We landed near the front of the lab and knocked on the door which was locked.

"Who is it?" A female voice spoke from the inside.

" We are the trainers sent by Professor Oak. He said that there was a Pokemon outbreak here. We are here to take care of it." Gary said.

"Oh thank God!" The woman said and the door was soon unlocked.

The lady that greeted us was a middle aged woman. She looked every bit like a researcher in her white lab coat. She wasn't exceptionally good looking or anything but you could see that she was pretty when she was young.

"Hello. My name's Ash." I introduced myself.

"The name's Gary Oak."

"You can call me Jenna. But aren't you two a little young to take on such tasks?" She asked.

"Don't worry miss. Both of us have eight badges and are qualified for the Pokemon league. " Gary assured.

" That's great then. Let me take you to the Professor. " She said.

And so we were introduced to Professor Westwood V who was no less obnoxious than I remembered him to be. His Slowpoke was sleeping in a corner of the lab unaware of everything.

After basic introductions was over, I asked. "Say Professor, what exactly happened here?"

"Oh dear me. Didn't Professor Oak say anything to you? Well then, I'll explain. We are currently researching on why Slowpoke needs a Shelder to evolve into Slowbro. I was fishing for a Shelder yesterday evening when something took the bait. I reeled it in and to my surprise, it was a completely different Pokemon. One that I hadn't seen before here in Kanto. But it didn't end there. As soon as the Pokemon was reeled in, it started yelling and many Pokemon like it started crawling out of the sea. We were soon blocked out from the boats on the island so we had ask Professor Oak for help. " He explained.

" Say Professor, by a new Pokemon do you mean that it isn't native to Kanto but some other region? " I asked.

" I'm not sure where this Pokemon is from. I haven't seen it before. "

" Then we'll go check them out. " Gary said.

" Be careful out there. Their appearance suggest that they might be Poison-type." The Professor said.

Gary and I walked out of the research building and out to the dock where the boats were anchored. By the Professor's description I was thinking that the mystery Pokemon might be from Hoenn or Kalos sonce those were the regions closest to Kanto through the ocean.

We soon reached the docks but at first there was no Pokemon around. As soon as we got within ten metres to the boat, something jumped out of the water and landed in our way.

To be honest, I was quite perplexed since the Pokemon was nothing like any other Pokemon I had seen before, including my previous life. It was a Pokémon with a purple, stalk-like body and head. It had blue eyes with yellow pupils and sclerae, and three pointed teeth. On top of its head was a starfish-like collection of ten tentacles. All of the tentacles reached the ground, except for the one directly in front, which was shorter and left its face exposed. The tentacles were light blue and covered in purple spines. On top of its head was a purple area with a collection of spikes with a larger, yellow spine in the center.

"What Pokemon is that?" Gary asked to no one in particular.

"I don't know." I was stumped as well. Then I had the brilliant idea to take Dexter out and scanned the Pokemon who was looking warily at us.

"There is no information about this Pokémon. It might be an unidentified species." Dexter's robotic voice spoke.

"That's a no go then." I sighed. "Do you wanna take it on Gary? It's pack mates should be around. "

" You take it on Ashy-boy. I'll keep a watch out."

" Alright then. It looks like a Poison-type like the professor said and it should be a water-type since it is comfortable underwater. Alakazam, I choose you. "

Before we could start the battle, the unknown Pokemon started screaming and soon multiple Pokemon like it came out. I physically counted at least twenty of them before something weirder came out.

The newcomer was pretty much the same like what I guessed was it's pre-evolution except that it's tentacles were much longer and was being used to walk while keeping it's body of the ground. It also looked bigger and stronger.

'System, do you know what this Pokémon is? '

'I do. However, I cannot disclose the information to the host until the appropriate level us reached. '

'That's a little off-putting. But I guess I'll manage. '

"Oi Gary, this looks like all of them, give me a hand here."

"You don't need to say Ashy-boy, I'm already on it. Electabuzz, help me out. "

" Alakazam, use Psychic on the big one. " I ordered.

Alakazam did as was told and blasted the Pokemon with his attack. The smaller Pokémon moved out of the way of the move leaving the bigger one to defend it by itself. However, the Pokémon hunkered down and covered itself with it's tentacles like a bunker and took the attack head on.

The smaller one's weren't slacking off and fired off small blasts of poison towards both me and Gary.

"Oi look out!" I warned him before pushing him and myself out the way of the poison which fell in the sand.

"Why are these things attacking us?" Gary, who's Electabuzz had already knocked out two of the smaller Pokémon, asked.

" I don't know but these things are dangerous. Alakazam, buddy keep using Psychic until it takes damage. That move of it's must be something like Protect." I said.

Protect was a move that protected the Pokémon that used it from all damage but it was incredibly draining to the Pokemon's stamina. Most trainers didn't use it since it cut the Pokemon's longevity when used in succession.

I released the rest of the squad I had brought with me and Gary did the same before we ordered an all out attack. I had Venusaur, Blastoise, Pidgeot and Gengar with me while Gary had his own Blastoise, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Aerodactyl and a Scyther.

This strategy worked to our favour as the little invaders were far too weak to be a match to our trained Pokemon with just two or three of them taking on ours. All of them were promptly knocked out and laid out in a line. Although they were a little dangerous, both of our Pokemon showed great restraint by only knocking them out without injuring them.

However, it was different story with Alakazam who by now had used Psychic more than ten times. Yet his opponent was still using its move stubbornly. I could see that it was struggling to stay on it's feet but there was a strong desire to go on in its eyes.

"Alakazam, stop." I ordered and as soon as he heard it, he moved back not before giving a small nod to the Pokemon.

"Do you wanna join us?" I asked. "I could always use a Pokémon with a will as strong as yours." I asked the Pokemon who was still looking warily at us. I looked at it's pack mates that were knocked out before directing a scornfull gaze back at us.

"Hey don't blame us. You guys were the ones causing trouble in the first place."

The Pokemon said something in reply which I didn't understand much but from what I could piece together, the Pokémon and it's family was lost. It was swept away by a long current from it's home and was dropped into the Kanto sea or something like that.

"I'm sorry to hear that. How about you guys come with us until we can find your home?"

It passed another look at us before warily nodding it's head. And so we caught all of the Pokémon who were transferred back to the lab. Since there wasn't anything left to do, we went back to the Westwood laboratory and informed the professor of the situation before heading back home.

"This is a wonderful discovery!" As soon as we reached the lab, we were greeted by an ecstatic Professor Oak.

"Gramps calm down! I don't want you taking yourself out by getting too excited at your age." Gary said.

"How rude! However, I'll let it pass since this new discovery is too big."

"I presume that our new friends are a completely new species of Pokémon Professor?"

"You got it, my boy. I have run checks across all the regional databases for all known fossil Pokemon as well and still didn't find a hit. This is a completely new finding. " Professor Oak was happy.

" From what I understand, they were carried over to here by an ocean current so they might be from some unknown region. It did tell me that there was many more of it from where it came. "

" Is that so? Then I'll put a word to the League. They should have a better idea on how to find this mystery place. " The Professor said.

We released all of the newly caught Pokemon into a pond near the lab that was previously uninhabited. They looked a little uncomfortable in the fresh water but wasn't bothered too much. The leader gave a grateful nod to us before heading back into the water, leaving us to our own devices.

It was already getting late so I went back home, getting ready for tomorrow. Brock was coming here so that we could prepare the essentials for the league which was in five days.

The Distortion World.

"Look who we have here!"

A deeply sinister voice reverberated through the stagnant space of the Distortion World."What beings the mighty Lord of Space to my humble abode? "

" Now's not the time, Giratina." Palkia, the Lord of space, said.

" Oh sorry then. " The now identified Giratina apologized." What brings you here brother? " He asked.

Now Giratina was aware of the perception humans had of him as the Lord of Anti-matter but honestly, he couldn't care less. He was close to his siblings as any human family and since they were immortal, their bonds were much stronger.

Since Giratina was the Lord of Anti-matter, something which while essential for creation, was also highly volatile and needed careful control to keep in check, he was gifted a separate dimension by their father. However, some humans ended up creating a tale in which he was banished by his father for being too violent. He had to give the humans points for their imagination but such bullshit was something he could barely tolerate.

The Distortion World was open to all of his siblings who came and went as they pleased. He also went out of it as he liked and often visited his younger siblings.

"Anyways I need your help. There's something wrong with the spatial plane." Palkia said.

"Wait a minute brother! Isn't space you know, your jurisdiction? How would I be able to help you with it? "

" There's some sort of outside intervention involved. Even Dialga agreed that the space-time continuum has been tampered with. "

" So we are suspecting an involvement from a higher dimensional being then? "

" Yes. However, since you have a better knowledge about distortions than we do, Dialga and I wanted your opinion before reporting it to father. "

" I'll help then. Take me to it. "

And so, both of them disappeared silently from the Distortion World as if they hadn't been there at all.

Uh hello there.

How are you guys doing? I'm doing pretty well.

Before my long hiatus, I told you guys that my Laptop was broken. Well it died permanently and right now I'm writing with a smartphone. That just cuts my speed in half which is why the updates are a bit slow.

Anyways, I'll answer some of the reviews I received. To be honest, there was a bit of continuity issue in the Intermission chapter which was inconsistent with the previous chapters. I attribute this to the fact that I was off this story for a long time but instead of changing that chapter, I found a way to justify the changes without changing the current plot or settings. You'll see it in a few chapters.

Aside from that, you'll notice that I skipped the eighth gym which to be honest, was never in my plans since I never liked it in the games or the anime. The league is starting in a few chapters at the end of which, the first season will be closed.

Another thing is that I have decided to incorporate antagonists into the story in the near future since I can only go so long without any other plots. The tags won't change tho so there's that.

A special thanks to all the people who pointed out the inconsistency issue. It means a lot to me that people are paying attention to the small details of the story.

Lastly, I'm opening another poll. Name one underrated Pokemon from any of the first three generations that you would like see in the story. That means no legendaries or Pseudo legendaries or fan favourites like Scizor. The vote will last 5 chapters and each review will be counted separately.

I'll update as soon as I can. Until then, adios.
