For plot purposes, I need the Lost in Language to take place before the Moon Light Conjuring.
"Luz, you take my books back to the library while I make money." Luz said, very annoyed, "Yeah, I hope that baby vomits on you, Eda."
Luz carried the massive stack of books to the library, thankfully, Earthbending has given her a decent amount of muscle. Got to be strong in order to move rock. She made it inside the library and the books started flying towards the front desk.
"Late. Late. Late. Coffee, grass, and bloodstains? These are Eda's aren't they?"
"Yeah, it was... a wild night."
The librarian sighed.
"I'll add it to her tab. By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star Meteor Shower." He said, pointing to the poster behind him.
"What's that?"
"You're in a library. Read a book."
Luz slowly walked away.
"I guess not all Librarians care about hospitality."
Luz walked around for a little bit, seeing a bunch of floating books, the "Demon Decibel System", and even saw people using crystal balls like a computer from the Human Realm.
"Wow, this place is so cool." Luz said.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Luz panicked for a second.
"Ah, pretend to be a book!" She hid in the self before hearing children laughing, "Wait, what?"
She moved over to the kids section and saw Amity, reading to kids.
"Amity? I haven't seen her since the Covention last week. I wonder how she's feeling."
Amity read more, not realizing Luz was there.
"'We're your friends and we wanna help,' said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. 'I've never had real friends before.'"
"Amity reads to kids?" Luz said, "She looks so happy."
"'Then we'll be your first,' the Chicken Witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So, Bookmaker Otabin surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship and that's the end."
Amity closed the book and smiled. The kids started to giggle and thank Amity for reading. One ran up to her as she puts a few books away.
"Goodbye, Miss Amity. Thank you."
"Thank you, Braxus, see you next time."
Braxus runs with the other kids and Amity turned and saw Luz.
"Oh, uh, it's... you." Amity said, "W-w-what are you doing here?"
"Oh, I came to return some of Eda's books." Luz said, "I didn't know you read to kids. It looks like-"
"Listen... I... I wanted to apologize for what happened last week." Amity said, "I was out of line and... you are... you're just as good as any other witch."
"Amity, you don't need to-"
"I do need to. I made a massive mistake last week and I was angry. After you saved me, word got out and... well, what happened after that doesn't matter. I'm sorry."
"Amity, you don't need to apologize. It's in the past and it's time to move past it."
Amity rubbed her arm.
"T-t-thanks."
"So, are we friends?"
"Uh, I wouldn't go that far, I've only known you for little over a week." Amity said.
"Would you like to be friends?"
"Maybe, I... I haven't had real friends in a long time. I don't even remember what having a true friend feels like."
"Well, if you do want a friend, I'll be here waiting." Luz said.
"D-d-do you mean, right here, in this spot? Because I'm going to have to read to kids again soon and that's... kind of my 'me time', so could you... leave?"
"Oh, yeah sure. I'll... see you later."
Luz started to walk away when she heard a voice.
"So, you're that human we've been hearing so much about."
She looked over and saw a boy and girl with green hair, leaning against the shelves.
"Who are you?"
"We're well wishers on a mission." The boy said.
"A noble quest." The girl said.
"Observe." The boy said, "Hey Mittens! Mom said stop forgetting your lunch."
He held out a pink bunny lunch bag that looks like it belongs to a child. Amity came up to him and took the bag.
"Does she ever wonder why I always 'forget' this thing? Look at it! It's humiliating!"
"Well, Mittens, we all have to deal with embarrassing things." the girl said.
"Can you two just leave?" Amity asked, clearly annoyed.
"Fine, come on Human." The boy said.
They walk away and Luz was about to follow when Amity grabbed her arm and pulled her close.
"Hey, I know we aren't really friends yet, but can you keep an eye on them?" Amity asked, "Try and keep them in line and make sure they don't do something stupid or dangerous... or both."
"Don't worry Mittens, you can count on me!" Luz said, giving a small salute.
"Don't call me that."
"Hey, Human! You coming?!"
Luz looked at Amity.
"I'll keep them in line." Luz said.
She ran after them, leaving Amity behind, looking nervous.
I'm going to try and post chapters more frequently. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
