Luz was looking through the Demon book she got in the library. She doesn't know why, but she felt a connection to it, when she told Eda, she just said it was probably just her being sleep deprived. She would've believed it too, if it wasn't for a page about one certain Demon. It went over something about it... its eggs. Exactly like the egg she saw in her dream when during the boiling rain storm.
"It couldn't be, right? This is a book about EXTINCT demons."
Luz's door was opened by King.
"Hey, Luz? Are you still mad?"
Luz didn't forget about the Body Swap incident the day prior. King with Bending is a recipe for disaster.
"King, you used my body, and my Bending. You started a small fire. What were you thinking?" Luz heard a beep and looked at the time, "I have to go help Gus with something."
Luz got up and started to walk downstairs.
"Hey, Kid? Come here for a second." Eda said.
Luz walked over to the kitchen and saw Eda at the table.
"Yeah, Eda?"
"Kid, care to explain what these are?" Eda asked.
She slid the forms for Hexside at Luz.
"W-w-well, you remember when I said I stopped an Abomination monster a couple weeks ago?" Luz asked.
"Yes."
"Well, I... thought about enrolling." Luz said.
"Kid, why would you want to do that? You have that book and I can teach you anything you need to know."
"One, that book is heavily damaged and has dozens of glyph designs missing. Two, I've been here almost a month, and you haven't taught me anything! If I want to learn, I clearly need to learn it myself!"
Luz walked to the door and opened it. She walked out of the house and slammed the door. Eda looked at the papers and rolled her eyes.
"Like I would ever let Luz go there."
Eda felt something in her by denying Luz the chance to go to Hexside. For the first time in her life, she felt... guilt.
"N-n-no, I won't let her go." Eda told herself, "It's better that way... right?"
Luz stomped her way to Hexside. Why wouldn't Eda just let her go to Hexside and learn magic? Pretty soon, she found Gus and her mood got better.
"Gus, what's the reason you asked me to show up?"
"Well, there really isn't a problem, apart from this new kid in the H.A.S." He said, "I just wanted a real Human to come in and talk."
"Oh, okay."
They walked towards Hexside, unaware someone was watching them. Gus started to show her around, as last time she was there, it didn't end well.
"This right here is the Plant Track Homeroom." Gus said.
Luz looked through the window and saw Willow and Amelia. Willow noticed Luz and waved. A plant bit down on Amelia and Willow had to go over and... tickle the plant. It let go of Amelia and she gave Willow a small thumbs up.
"Yeah, it can be a little difficult from what Willow told me. That's apparently the third time she had to help Amelia." Gus said.
They walked a little farther and Gus stopped her.
"Oh, I want to show you where I spend my time." He opened the door to a room with four people in it, "The Illusion Track Homeroom."
Luz looked in and saw the Twins, a teacher, and a nervous student. The teacher evaluates three students' illusions. Emira doubles the length of her legs. Edric changes his face, outfit, and hair style. The third student is shaking as they draw their spell circle and accidentally remove their facial features. The teacher makes her own spell circle and fixes the student, allowing them to breath.
"Well, Illusions sound... hard." Luz said.
"They get easy after a while." Gus said, "Like that."
Gus pointed at a room on the other side of the hall, which had... Gus in it.
"Wow, what's going on?" Luz asked.
"That's one of my Illusions. They take notes for me when I'm not around."
The Illusion picked up a paper that said, "I'm not paying attention".
"But sometimes they don't do what they're told."
Luz dragged him away before he did something stupid. On his way by, he made a cut motion at his neck.
"Okay, well, let's go show the Human Appreciation Society a real Human."
Outside, the person watching them opened a mirror.
"What are your orders, Sir?"
"Release the monster. I don't want the Avatar in this dimension. I want her gone."
"Gone from the Boiling Isles, or gone, gone?"
"Whichever comes first. If she dies, then it was an 'unfortunate' accident."
"Got it."
The person closed the mirror and walked back into the tree line. Gus and Luz walked up to the door that the H.A.S meetings took place in.
"You ready?" Gus asked.
"Born ready."
Gus grabbed the door handle. In the Principal's office, Bump heard the door open and close, someone walk up to the desk, and then slam their hand on it.
"Hey, Bump." Eda said, "Miss me?"
