Lilith and Eda were looking through a few books from the Human Realm that Eda had. The only thing they've learned is that this symbol was seen prior to 1912 and shortly after 1923, but none of the books went that far back. The only thing they've learned is that certain animals are now extinct.
"What in the Titan is a Polar Bear Dog, or a Flying Bison? Oh, the Human Realm had dragons too." Eda said.
"And just like here, they seem to be extinct." Lilith said, "Still nothing on this symbol."
"There's something at play here." Eda said, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think you should call in the Coven."
"Even if I did, there isn't any way they could help. The top Coven Leaders are having a hard time with trying to understand these attacks."
They heard something in the woods and held their staffs.
"Let's get back to the Kid." Eda said.
"Agreed."
The two took of sprinting as they were being watched. Luz and Amity went back to the twins.
"Are you going to play nice, now?" Luz asked.
"Yes, please get us out of this!" Emira said.
Luz melted the ice and the twins walked away.
"You're really good at getting them to stop pranking and being annoying." Amity said.
"They're good people, they just need some tough love to bring them out." Luz said.
"More like frozen out." Edric mumbles, stomping his legs to regain feeling.
"What was that?" Luz asked.
"NOTHING." Edric said, jolting up like a soldier.
Eda and Lilith returned to the group with their staffs still at the ready.
"Hey, where did you three come from?" Eda asked.
"We came here to train for the entrance exam." Amity said.
"Kids, I think it's time we leave." Lilith said, "There is something going on and it can be dangerous for you to be here."
"Why? What's going on?" Emira asked.
"We're uncertain as of right now, but whatever it is, it's dangerous." Lilith said.
"Show me." Luz said.
"What?" Eda asked.
"Show me what's going on."
"Avatar, this isn't something-"
Lilith was cut off by Luz putting a hand up.
"I'm the Avatar, which means it's my job to keep peace and balance. If someone or something is causing chaos, it is my mission to stop them." Luz said.
Lilith and Eda knew there was no way to stop her, so they brought her to the campsite.
"As you can see, this place is destroyed." Lilith said, "Ever place these attacks have taken place, there's this symbol."
Lilith pointed to the symbol and Luz looked at it.
"I've... I've seen this before." Luz said, "But... not, me, me."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Lilith asked.
"Oh, great. You did it, Lily, she's going to talk about the Avatar backstory." Eda said.
"I'm not that bad!" Eda glared at Luz, "Fine, I'll give her the condensed version. Whenever the Avatar dies, they get reincarnated. I might've seen this in a past life."
"Is there any way you could access those memories?"
"I could, but I need a place that is very spiritual and peaceful."
"Well, we are on something like that." Eda said, "The knee is filled with spiritual power and magic, maybe you could do something to get that memory out."
"Do you really think that could work?" Lilith asked.
"Maybe, the earliest witches came here because of its spiritual and magical power, so she could do it if she connects with the Isles."
"Maybe, but there-"
They heard a scream and instantly panicked.
"That was Amity!" Luz said.
They ran back and saw Amity being held by her neck, with the twins encased in rock. The person spun Amity's wand in his hand.
"Not bad little witch." He used his thumb to snap her wand, "But not good enough."
"Let her go!" Luz yelled.
Luz used her waterbending to pick up and melt the snow. She used a water whip to hit the person making him drop Amity. Lilith and Eda begin to make their spell circles, only to feel something hit their arms, making them go limp. Eda and Lilith looked and saw more people, who then hit their other arm and legs, making them unable to perform magic or move. Luz was so focused on the person that attack Amity and the Twins that she didn't notice.
"Who are you?" Luz demanded.
"A little early for that, Avatar." He said, "But, I can give you a clue."
He stomped on the ground and a rock floated in air. Luz's eyes widened.
"An Earthbender?"
The man hit the rock and it went flying at Luz. Luz put her arms out and split the rock in half. She was about to use her Waterbending to freeze his feet to the ground, but her arm was hit and went limp by one of the many people.
"Chi Blocking!?"
Luz used her other arm to bend the snow up and try and temporarily blind her assailants. It didn't work as they easily Chi Blocked her other arm and then her legs, followed with the rest of her body. She fell towards the ground only for the Earthbender to use his bending to send a large rock pier to hit Luz in the face, completely breaking Luz's jaw and sending her to the ground, almost unconscious.
"Chi Block the other three. We'll take them with us."
"What about the Avatar?"
"Leave her. The beasts here won't get another chance at a meal like this."
They left with everyone, Luz could only look on with blurry vision and unresponsive limbs. Her broken jaw led to blood beginning to stain the snow and would begin to attract animals. A few minutes later, a Slitherbeast walked up to Luz, ready to eat her. It was about to open its mouth to grab her, when a four legged, nine foot long, demon with short white hair ran out of the tree line and pounced on it. Attaching to it with its large claws. It used its claws to cut through the Slitherbeast's skin, sending large amounts of blood on the ground. It climbed on to the top and used its large, curved, serrated teeth to bite down and started to shake its head, shredding the thick skin. The Slitherbeast roared in pain and tried to get it off. The demon moved its front limbs to grasp onto the neck before biting down again and dragging it to the ground. It extended its claws to their full eight inch length and dragged them across the neck of the Slitherbeast, killing it instantly. The demon began to eat the corpse, making its fur turn pink and its black skinned muzzle to get stained red from the blood. After it ate a good portion of the corpse, it went over to Luz, who was fully unconscious, and grabbed the collar of her coat with its teeth. It began to pull her away from the corpse and any other creatures that might try and attack her.
