Luz woke up and got ready for her first day at school. She ran downstairs and found Eda, getting her usual intake of morning alcohol.
"Good morning, Eda! Do you remember what day it is?"
"Hard to forget, it's the day I get you out of my hair for a few hours." Eda said, giving a small chuckle, "You ready, Kid?"
"I was reincarnated ready!" Luz said.
Luz ran out the door and Eda followed. Eda smiled and got on her staff. In another part of the Isles, Hunter woke up and looked around, while rubbing his eyes. The cardinal palisman stayed by his side the entire night.
"He likes you." Bat Queen said, scaring Hunter by sneaking up on him.
"W-w-what?"
"A Palisman is a companion for life. They find those that share a like mind. You and Rascal want to feel love, you both want to feel wanted." She said, "You two were meant to be together. You were meant to be an extension of each other."
Hunter looked down.
"I can't, even if I wanted too. If-"
"If your uncle finds out, then he will be in trouble. I know what the Emperor does to Palisman."
Hunter looked surprised.
"Y-y-you know that-"
"You are the Emperor's Nephew? Yes, but I can tell that you are different than him. I sense great things in you. You will go on an adventure that will show you who you truly are."
Rascal turned into a staff and Hunter grabbed it.
"So, I can do magic with this? Real magic?"
Bat Queen nodded. Hunter bowed to Bat Queen.
"Thank you."
"Don't thank me, I did nothing, it was all you." Bat Queen said, "Now you must go. Your journey is about to begin."
Hunter got up, staff in hand, and walked towards town. At Hexside, Luz was entering the Principal's office.
"Hey, Principal Bump, I'm here for my first day!" Luz said.
"Good. Now, I received a call that an inspector is coming to observe the school. If they approve of what they see, we'll receive funding, which is much needed with all the attacks lately." He said, "Now, I have some work to do before they arrive, so I would like you to pick a Track now."
"I wish I could pick all of them." Luz said.
"Unfortunately, that is against the rules."
"I know." Luz said, before letting out a sigh, "Healing. My mom is the greatest Waterbender Healer in the world and she taught me everything I know. I can heal almost as good as any witch."
"Very well." Bump said, making a spell circle.
Luz's uniform turned dark blue and she smiled.
"Now, get to class and stay out of trouble. I can't have anything bad happen that will make the inspector fail us."
Luz mock saluted.
"You got it."
Luz got up and went to her Healing Class, where she saw a familiar face. Kat motioned for Luz to come over and sit next to her. Luz happily accepted the non-verbal invitation. In another part of the Isles, Caine was getting ready to attack the school. He didn't care about the kids there, so long as the Basilisk killed the Avatar, he didn't care what she did.
"Sir, are you sure it would be wise to go to the place you're about to release a monster on?" A member asked, "What if you get attacked by Coven guards?"
Caine chuckled.
"I have both magic and bending. I am the greatest Firebender to ever live." Caine said, before getting very serious, "I earned that title by working for it, for almost four hundred years. If they want to mess with me, they'll end up just like my brother. Beaten, broken, defeated... and he became Emperor, pathetic... let's move!"
In Hexside, Luz had a training dummy that simulated real injuries. She had several small water jugs and moved her hands. The water slowly came up from the jugs and surrounded Luz's hands. She placed her hands on the dummy's chest, where an "Injury" was present. The water glowed and the injury healed. The teacher came over and looked at Luz's work.
"Well, done, but that's a given. Can we expect anything less from the Avatar, herself?" The teacher said.
The bell screamed and the classes were let out. Luz was checking her schedule when she saw an Oracle Orb.
"Huh, someone must've dropped it. I better return it." Luz said.
She picked it up and looked at it for a second. She heard someone clear their throat and turned around. She saw an annoyed looking Principal Bump. It was at this moment, Luz knew... she fucked up (I had to throw a meme in, it was too perfect). Outside, Caine watched from the tree line.
"So, how do I look?" The Basilisk asked.
Caine looked over to her. She looked just like an official Coven Inspector.
"Perfect. Just wait a few minutes, the principal is expecting you in about ten minutes." Caine said, "Now remember, you can attack everyone you want, but the Avatar is the one that must die."
