Fantine Tezla: Hot Wheels Acceleracers Chapter 3
The excitement and eagerness that arose with the coming of a brand new realm opening have worn off exponentially. Instead those emotions have been hastily replaced by vast reserve, melancholy, somberness, and partially grief.
None of the drivers won the last race in the Storm Realm against the Drones, but that's not what has gotten everyone so glum in the AcceleDrome.
No. A crucial driver was lost. Trapped forever in the Storm Realm whether he is alive or dead once the timer ran out.
Kadeem.
Despite the efforts of Vert and other drivers Kadeem could not be saved after he ran afoul of a Drone out for blood.
It left many of those who had known Kadeem quite well heartbroken. Especially when made aware about those who were relying on him back in Kadeems home country.
But there are other matters to contend with. For instance, being last in the race on both sides, Vert lost half his vehicle when the Wheel Of Power shut down the gateway on him when he was coming through. Taro is left unconscious from a broken leg and arm in the infirmary. Kurt is extremely bruised and battered with one of his legs not doing too good either while the rest either had beaten down vehicles and those that hadn't been involved in this sort of racing before are shaken to the core. This isn't what they're used to.
And to top it all a Racing Drone had been riding the hood on Vert's car when he came through. Its legs had been torn off, ripped apart, but that didn't make it less dangerous. It nearly would've come close to doing some serious damage to Vert if Karma hadn't rammed into it with her car.
Now it's kept in isolation under heavy restraint since it is still active.
Fantine had seen and heard all of this from her rooms. Not once departing them in order to investigate.
A majority of the drivers had wanted to do work on their cars before the next realm should open, but Lani had put her foot down. Insisting that they get as much rest as possible so that they are able to battle the Drones with clear minds.
A wise choice but knowing her father Fantine believes that won't last for very long. Not with the fear of the enemy lingering over him every single day.
The obsession is dominant.
Fortunately the portal doesn't open for the remainder of the night. In this Fantine sees an opportunity. While everyone else is asleep Fantine sneaks out from her quarters to get a look at the captured Drone. She's never seen one up close before, only in her fathers' files. When Fantine reaches the room it's being kept at first she assumes the Drone has been powered down. There's no movement as it remains perfectly still. So Fantine dares to move closer.
Fantine reaches out a tentative hand to touch it…
And the Drone springs back to life, screeching in Fantine's face, lunging at her.
Slapping a hand to her mouth to muffle her startled and terrified scream Fantine bolts from the room leaving the Drone to stare at her as she runs off shrieking in irritation and downright fury.

So I've got some bad news for all my loyal readers. My dog just passed away a couple of months ago. To be perfectly honest I'm heartbroken. He meant so much to me and even though my family has had other dogs in the past, since I moved out, he was my baby and the first animal to ever well and truly be mine. Especially during all of this craziness with covid-19 I think all dog owners can agree that your canine companions can really fill that void that one can find themselves stuck in. And make their households complete. So this is a shout out to all fellow dog lovers out there that see them as their children. Keep your animals close to you and cherish them always…That goes for cats, too. ;)
I cannot begin to describe how apologetic I am for taking so heinously long to get back on track. From this day forward that's all gonna change. Especially since now that I have some more story ideas in mind to add to my profile.
