Music Sounds Better With You – A Big Time Rush Fanfiction…

A/N – Well here is chapter two! Wow this turned out longer then I had expected it too, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Some things are discussed and Lucky Ophelia gets' an opportunity in this chapter that could help make or break her career as well as relationships with some people, but is it worth it? She'll find out just like you the readers will too. Anyway thanks for the reviews from the last chapter it means a lot to me and the reason I was inspired to keep going! I hope you all this, I'm gonna stop rambling now so you can read on and find things out for yourself.

Also someone asked about when this story was set. So this story is set during the summer of 2012, which I believe the show would be around season two-three. More information is explained in this chapter, and why I chose that time, also, all my research with dates and titles are found from information about BTR on the fan pages. I have done my research, I promise thanks!

Disclaimer: I own nothing from Big Time Rush *Cries a little* that all belongs to Scott Fellows, Nickelodeon's as well as Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, James Maslow, and Carlos Penavega (I'm so proud of our babies, they own the band name now! ;) - ) But I do own any and all OC characters in this story such as Kortney Hampton (aka: Lucky Ophelia), Mr Randle and Casey as well as the fictional Randle Records Studio!

P.S Disclaimer: - Lucky's first single is called Nothing Is Impossible, I chose this song to represent her journey and give you an idea of her sound and taste in music, she dose a little bit of all types. The songs is by artist Iggy Azalea originally. So if you have not heard "Nothing Is Impossible" by Iggy Azalea, go listen to it, I love it, it's very pretty! So I do not own the lyrics to this song used in this story! It is only mentioned in this chapter but will appear as the story goes.

Chapter 2
Anything Can Happen

The blaring of the alarm woke me first thing in the morning. I groaned and hit the off button and laid in my bed for a moment, remembering where I was. Smiling to myself, I sat up and stretched before getting up and opening the curtains of my room to let some of the morning sunshine inside. Once that was done, I went to the bathroom, took a morning shower, and brushed my teeth and hair. Finally, I was dressed, wearing cropped jeans, a grey tank top, and brown hair tied back into a ponytail. By the time I made myself breakfast and finished it, there was a knock at my apartment door. With a grin, I put my bowl in the sink to deal with later, and I went to open the door.

My manager Casey greeted me, and I returned the gesture. Together the two of us headed to Randle Records for my first day of work. We got into the elevator, and the doors were about to close when four boys entered. My eyes widened only for Casey, and I, too, shared a look when we saw it was the boys of Big Time Rush. I kept my mouth closed, staying behind them, for their backs were turned to us, and I was hoping they wouldn't notice me. After yesterday's encounter with James and Carlos, I didn't want to speak to them. Thankfully they didn't even notice us, and we reached the lobby. All of us exited, and the boys headed off in different directions while Casey and I headed to the studio's van and got inside. Casey drove us, and even though L. A traffic was a bit rough this morning, but we finally made it to Randle Records.

The studio was huge, about three stories high. The first floor was the lobby, as well as business offices. On the second floor were the dance studio and two big recording studios. Finally, there was the CEO's office on the third floor, which is where Daniel Randle worked. Around the office were two conference rooms and a kitchen area where employees could get snacks and coffee. I smiled at the excitement residing in me as I took in my new workplace. Once we entered, we headed right for the CEO's office on the third floor, my palms were a bit sweaty, and my heart was racing from being nervous. The elevator dinged; Casey and I stepped out and walked across the office room.

We were about to enter when we heard voices inside; it almost sounded like they were in deep conversation, almost on the verge of arguing, yet, it sounded like they were trying to work things out. Casey had me wait outside; she opened the door slightly to peek in, and the two voices stopped and turned to face her. Some words were exchanged, and Casey closed the door and turned to me; I smiled weakly at her.

"We can go in," Casey states with a grin.

Nodding, I follow her inside, and my eyes widen in shock to see the one and only Gustavo Roque of Rock Records sitting in the chair across from Mr. Randle. So many questions start going through my mind. I eye Casey, who shrugs at me, and by her answer, I can tell she is just as confused as I am. The two of us look at Mr. Randle and Mr. Roque, waiting for them to speak and deliver some answers. Finally, Mr. Randle clears his throat, stands, fixes his tie, and comes over to me with open arms, welcoming me into a hug.

"Ah, there's my future star! Miss Ophelia, I would like to welcome you to your first official day of work and to Randle Records." Mr. Randle states as he pulls away from our hug.

I smile very wide, "Thank you, Mr. Randle; I'm very excited about this opportunity." I explain, letting my expressions show him my excitement. "I'm ready to start work."

Mr. Randle nods, "Good, then I would like you to meet someone. Lucky, this is Gustavo Rocque of Roque Records. He is one of the hardest working men I know in Hollywood, and he also produces very talented starts like I do." Mr. Randle explains with a grin towards Gustavo, who only sat there and raised an eyebrow at him. Mr. Randle clears his throat once more to remove the awkwardness around them. "Anyway, you joined us at an exciting time. Mr. Roque has an opportunity for the both of us."

"What would that be, sir?" Casey questions with slight interest with an eyebrow raise.

Mr. Randle smiles and lays a hand on Gustavo's shoulder before getting a look from the man and then removing his hand. "Mr. Roque has kindly agreed to let you be his opening act for his current boy band this summer. His boy band is going on their first headlining tour, and they need someone. He thought of us, and I recommended you to him, Lucky." Mr. Randle finishes with a grin from ear to ear.

Once more, Casey and I look at one another in surprise. If the two studios didn't get along so well, why did Gustavo want me to open for his current band? Also, remembering that his current boy band was Big Time Rush, I wasn't sure if I wanted to open for him after the way James and Carlos acted towards me. If I was going to deal with that all summer, it wouldn't be any fun. However, another part of me thought this was the chance for the two studios to fix whatever rivalry was going on between them, hence why Gustavo thought of us. But at the same time, I couldn't help but think of it as some kind of trap; what was Gustavo up to? This news wasn't really how I planned my first day of work to go; it was being dropped on me so suddenly.

"Are you sure that's a good idea, sir?" Casey questions as she folds her arms in thought. "I mean, she just signed with us and hasn't even started working on her first album – "

"– I am completely sure! Casey honey, this is a perfect time! Not only can Lucky work on her album, but the public will be good for her and Big Time Rush. Many people are excited about our new artist; have you seen Lucky's space-time page? They are raving about her signing with us and demanding an album is out soon. Also, Big Time Rush is one of the biggest boy bands at the current moment, Lucky's fans will learn of them if she opens for them, and their fans will learn of Lucky. It's perfect, trust me." Mr. Randle finishes as he comes over next to me and pats my shoulder.

Gustavo stands and eyes the three of us, "You should even be lucky I'm giving you this opportunity, Miss Ophelia. There were many others I could have chosen, but I chose you."

"I don't get it; why me?" I said it out loud before stopping myself, mentally slapping my forehead.

"Because you're very talented – and I don't say that often about people. "Gustavo begins as he sighs. "– And the dogs might have had some influence on it, stating they loved your music and are a fan. Either way, it's an opportunity for both you and my dogs and our two record companies to work together…." Gustavo finishes as he grins.

I eyed him in confusion for most of his conversation. Dogs? That's what he called the boys of Big Time Rush? Getting past its weirdness, I sighed and eyed Mr. Randle, who was the one in charge of my career and making decisions. I smile at all three of them as Mr. Randle and Gustavo shake hands. Casey pats my shoulder this time.

"She'll do it, and we look forward to traveling with you and the boys on the "Better with U" tour this summer. Thank you, Mr. Roque, for meeting with me today."

With that, Mr. Roque left, and once he was gone and out of earshot, Mr. Randle smiled and clapped his hands. "Well, this is amazing, really. Don't you think so, Casey? Mr. Roque has hated us for years, and now suddenly he wants to work with us! This is a chance to make things right." Mr. Randle finishes as he goes and sits back down at his desk.

"It's amazing, yes, but it's almost too easy. Something still doesn't feel right."

"Oh, quit being a Debbie downer, Casey. Now, why don't you give our new star a tour of the studio, and we will start working on Lucky's first song."

"Already?" My mouth dropped as I asked that; I had been waiting to work on my first song, but I didn't know it would be so soon.

"Of course, Big Time Rush goes on their tour starting the middle of February. February 12th, 2012, is their first show, and it is now September of 2011. We have a lot to do if we want to release your first album by then!" Mr. Randle states as he starts fiddling with papers on his desk and going through them.

I smile at the thought of releasing my first album. The excitement started to build in me and even covered my worry about touring with Big Time Rush. I hadn't told Casey about my encounter with James and Carlos, but I will before the tour for sure just so she is aware. After shaking the thoughts out of my mind, I let Casey show me around the studio, smiling. I was here; I was really in Hollywood, about to work on my album and open my first show next year. My dreams were coming true, and I was showing my parents that I did have what it took to make it. After the studio tour, I met with Mr. Randle, Casey, and their current songwriters who worked at the studio. We worked on my first song and at least had a rhythm down.

I was delighted with the progress we had made on my first day. The rhythm was terrific, and the song at least had a title. It was going to be called "Impossible Is Nothing," and it was about dreaming big and never giving up. It was a little slower but upbeat; I couldn't wait for my fans to hear worked on the song for a few hours, and around seven pm, Mr. Randle let me go home for the night. Casey stayed at the studio but warned me she would pick me up tomorrow at seven am again. Getting back to the Palmwoods, I smiled but yawned as soon as I closed the door, tired from my first busy day. Once inside my apartment, I made sure my door was locked and went to take a shower. The water relaxed me, and I took my time. After my shower, I changed into pajamas and made myself dinner while watching the Hollywood gossip channels. I enjoyed my alone time. It was around ten pm by the time I was finished, and I was ready for bed. So I turned the tv off and once more made sure my apartment door was locked before going to bed. Lying in my bed, I sighed in relief. I loved my bed; its warm blanket hugs smothered me and welcomed me into drift land. As my eyes slowly closed, my mind wandered to today's events. Touring with Big Time Rush, being their opening act.

Was it worth it? To be famous and live my dream? Possibly….But would I be able to put up with James and Carlos hitting on me all summer if they tried asking me out again? What about Kendall and Logan? I still haven't met them. Would things be okay between us? I could only hope that things would go well and not end in a big-time disaster, but time would only tell, and when I finally fell asleep, all those worries slipped from my mind, and I would only find out how things went in time. Dreamland called me, and I allowed it to take over until tomorrow morning…
