Author's Note:
So for the most part the last few chapters have just been in Lee's point of view. I'm thinking of mostly just trying to change it to third person but we'll see how I do with that, since I I tend to suck sticking at it. Without further ado here is the next chapter.
Lee'sPOV
So, it's been a rough school year with my own mates' kind of cold shoulders and distance. They still said hi and talked, but it wasn't quite like before. I've waited for them to come and talk to me, but they have yet to do so. It's been making me a little depressed. I would stop by the Denali household for a few minutes every couple of days and talk with Carmen just to see how they were doing and all Carmen would just shake her head. I've been a little reserved and Rosalie has picked up on that. We spent a lot of time in the garage just working on cars or her on one of her cars and I on my motorcycle.
We've definitely gotten a lot closer and I can say she isn't exactly happy with my own mates and the distance they've been giving me. She more often than not initiates contacts with me to comfort my loneliness and I appreciate her concern a lot. She's changed quite a bit in her attitude towards me over this year and I've only fallen more in love with her.
I was currently on the couch sitting against Rosalie as she read a magazine . My head was on her shoulder as I read over the car magazine with her. Everybody in the family has picked up on my dampened mood over the last year and would do things to try and cheer me up.
It was peaceful as Emmett played the Xbox killing some people. Esme was humming as Edward played the piano. Alice and Jasper were across from Rosalie and I in the love seat talking quietly. Carlisle was at the hospital working and wouldn't be home for a couple more hours.
Suddenly, Alice went still and Jasper sat up straight. It was more than a couple minutes and Alice still hadn't come out of her vision. Edward ended up coming into the living room with a frown on his face.
Rosalie ever the concerned one for the family spoke up, "What do you see Edward?"
"There's going to be a new person, a girl, in town. It's Chief Swan's Daughter, her name is Isabella. Alice is getting different visions of her though. They are all kind of blurry, but she becomes important to the family. Her future keeps going dark though at some point."
Rosalie scoffed, "A human? No way, you know the laws."
Alice came out of her trance and rubbed her temples, "That's just it Rosalie, She's going to be a vampire; it's an inevitability, just like her future going dark, and like her becoming important to the family if we stay."
Emmett piped up,"The psychic said it's going to happen. So, what's our plan?"
Rosalie muttered, "We could just kill the human."
Esme yelled from the kitchen, "Rosalie Lillian Hale! We will not just kill humans."
The others snickered as Rosalie looked thoroughly chastised and flipped the rest of them off.
Jasper voiced his concerns, "Does her future go dark because of me?"
Alice grasped his hand with both of hers and gives him a reassuring smile.
"No, Jazz. You, keep your control under wraps, babe. She ends up admiring you and becomes best friends with you and I."
Jasper smiled softly at that and gives Alice's forehead a kiss. We all smiled at that. Jasper only suffers the most with his control because he also feels everyone else's bloodlust too. So, really if you think about it, Jasper has exceptional control.
I ask the big question, "So, when is she supposed to arrive?"
Alice jumps up, "She arrives-"
ThirdPOV
A decently tall brunette dressed in black form fitting jeans, a white tee with a black vest over it, and black and brown leather bracelets, with a watch on one wrist walked out of the airport and towards a man next to a cruiser. They hugged and then the man stood back taking the suit case from the girl.
"It's good to see you Bella. You actually tanned a little."
Bella laughed, "It's good to see you to Ch-Dad. Yeah, I'm surprised I actually tanned. I thought all these years I was just albino. Maybe I needed to just stay under the sun longer."
They got into the cruiser and made their way to Forks. They made some small talk on the way.
"So, Kiddo, how was studying abroad? Your mother didn't tell me much."
Bella frowned and didn't want to reveal much but didn't want to lie either.
"I learned a lot dad I learned French, Spanish and Italian. I'm already done with high school but I decided to finish high school with my peers. I even picked up martial arts."
Charlie smiled hearing that Bella was doing so well.
"I'm happy you're doing so well Bella. I'm also really happy you decided to come live with me to finish out your high school career."
Bella blushed and looked out the window. She wasn't going to mention the fact that her scatter brained mother was traveling with her boyfriend.
"Did my car happen to make it here alright Dad?" Bella ask looking back at her dad.
He nodded his head, "Yeah it's at the house perfectly fine. I'm still happy I bought you that car so you could travel around while abroad."
Bella smiled again thinking of how much Charlie cared for her. She remembered before how awkward they used to be about their emotions when she used to just visit before. It all changed when she mentioned wanting to learn abroad and he wasn't going to be able to see her for a long while. Sometimes they had their moments, but for the most part they were pretty free with their emotions now.
Eventually they made it to the house and parked next to it was a black and red 1987 Mustang. They got out of the car and Charlie went to the trunk to get the suitcase. They went inside and Bella noted it hadn't changed at all.
They went upstairs and Charlie opened up her door and Bella stood there stunned.
"I remodeled your room for you. I put in a bigger book shelf, and a computer desk with with shelves and drawers. I knocked out your closet to make it bigger so you had no need to have a dresser any more. I also got rid of the rocking chair and put in a bean bag chair and a small coffee table.
The walls itself was a gradient purple going from a deep dark purple to a medium from top to bottom. Her bed had been replaced from a twin to a queen and had light purple sheets on them. The book shelf had all her books and even some new books from what she could see and sitting on the computer desk was a brand new laptop.
Bella turned to her father with tears in her eyes and threw her arms around his neck. He dropped the suit case to catch her and smiled warmly hugging her close.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are the best dad ever and I love you so much! I am the luckiest daughter in the world."
Charlie chuckled and kissed the top of her head.
"You're welcome Bella. It's just good to finally have you home."
Bella smiled a watery smile in his neck and pulled back wiping her eyes.
"Yeah, it's good to be home. Thank you, dad."
The weekend went by for Bella as she spent time getting acclimated to her home again. She awoke Monday morning ready to start her junior year at Forks High.
She wore a black long sleeved v neck shirt, a dark blue with black swirl patterned sleeveless hooded jacket, jeans and her converse.
Bella grabbed her bag and left the house getting into her car. She turned on some tunes and started to drive towards the school. She was nervous being the new girl in a small town such as Forks.
Bella tried not to think of how much of a klutz she is and might end up embarrassing herself on her first day in front of everyone.
Bella both hated and was yet thankful that the ride to the school wasn't very long. She parked next to a motorcycle and killed her engine.
She took a moment to breathe and gathered her courage, then she exited her car and made her way into the school. She headed directly towards the office to pick up her schedule where she was told to have her teachers sign a slip of paper that she needed to bring back to the office at the end of the day.
Bella left the office looking at her schedule and the map the nice office lady gave her trying to make her way to her first class. She was interrupted from her map looking when she crashed into someone.
"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." Bella mentally groaned at her clumsiness.
"No worries, I probably shouldn't be spacing out in the middle of the hallway like a dork. I haven't seen you around before are you new?"
Bella thought the girl recognized her for a brief second, but it passed.
"Ah, yeah, I'm new. My name's Isabella Swan, but I prefer Bella."
The girl stuck her hand out, "The name's Lee Trang. What's your first class?"
Bella shook her hand and then looked at her schedule again.
"I have English with Mason."
"Cool beans, follow me. That's where I'm headed for first period. Looks like we're classmates."
Lee gave Bella a grin and a thumbs up. Bella gave her a smile and was happy she met a pretty chill person first thing in the morning.
Bella noted that Lee was probably about 5'4" in stature. She had straight black hair that was layered and went to her shoulders. She had bangs that went a little past her eye that were swept to the right and her eyes were a golden color which Bella thought were contacts.
They made it to the classroom and Lee went to the back and sat down while Bella talked with the teacher and got him to sign the slip. Once he signed the slip Bella went in search of an empty seat. Lee waved at Bella and pointed to the seat next to her. It was empty and Bella made her way over and sat down.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you're trying to hog me all to yourself."
Bella whispered to Lee conspiratorially.
Lee just laughed and whispered back, "Yes, my grandmaster plan to get all the juicy deets on your life story."
Bella snorted and rolled her eyes thinking, "Oh, if only you even knew the half of it."
The bell signaled the start of class and the two girls kept their whispers to a minimum throughout the class. Of course some of the neighboring students that were close enough tried to listen into the new transfer student's conversation. There was one particular student that was keeping track of some of the details for the schools newspaper. When the bell rang again to signal the end of class Lee asked Bella what class she had next.
"I have Government with Jefferson in Building 6," Bella said looking at her schedule that she pulled from her back pocket.
Lee slung her bag over her shoulder and started walking towards the classroom door.
"I can walk you part of the way then point you in the right direction at least. I have Art in building 4. Oh hey, you have a cell phone?"
"Thanks Lee. Uh, yeah I have a cell phone why?"
"So, we can exchange numbers Swan. We are friends now aren't we?" Lee looked back at Bella with an easy going smile waving her cell phone back and forth.
Bella blushed and muttered yeah. They exchanged numbers and Lee immediately sent a text saying, " Hello xD." Bella just shook her head and laughed. Lee bumped shoulders with Bella and pointed to a building not too far away and told her that was building 6. Lee went inside the building marked 4 and Bella continued on. She was happy she made a friend on her first day.
Lee walked into the building and was glomped by someone. Lee looked over and immediately recognized the mass of dark hair belonging to Alice.
Lee threw her arm around Alice's shoulder as they walked to their art class.
"So, how is my future bestie?" Alice whispered to low for the humans to hear.
Lee whispered back, "She is a bit of a riot. I like her. I've already exchanged phone numbers with her and we are friends now."
Alice threw a pout my way and I stuck my tongue out at her. Score one for Lee, Zero for Alice.
"Nuh uh uh, I got this all on my own. You gotta put in the effort too pixie pyre. Plus it would be weird if she got a text from some stranger."
"Fine. It's not like I won't get it by the end of today anyways."
They made it to their class and Lee let Alice twirl into the room. Lee laughed following at a more sedate pace and took her seat next to her sister.
They both took out their sketch pads and turned to blank pages as the teacher instructed once the bell ring. They were going to sketch their table partners.
Alice and I looked at each other and said easy enough at the same time.
"Fantasy style though Alice. Motif should be Alice in Wonderland. Let's go with a gothic gorey. "
Alice became still and got a vision as Lee thought of different things. She snapped out of it after a few moments.
"Oh, those are some great ideas! You should definitely do them. Just show the teacher the last one though."
Lee nodded her head as she set pencil to paper and started to draw Alice skipping though a dark forest with evil faces. Next she drew Alice looking at a golden pocket watch. After a couple minutes she drew bunny ears and sketched on a nice tail coat with twin tails and a pleated mini skirt, with knee high leather boots with a heel. Lee nudged Alice and showed her the picture.
Alice smiled, "Nice it looks a bit different than in my vision. I kind of want to make an outfit of this actually. Here, since you kind of made me into a furry I decided to make you into one."
Alice turned her sketchbook around and showed Lee what she drew. It Was Lee with a big Cheshire grin with cat ears on the top of hear head, wearing a striped dark and light purple sweater, dark purple shorts, black leggings and brown ankle boots. Lee even had a cat tail coming from her back side.
"Huh, not bad. If you decided to make your outfit. You should totally make me that outfit too. It actually looks pretty comfy. You know what I just had an idea. We should get the rest of the family in on an Alice in Wonderland Party theme one day."
Alice grabbed Lee's shoulders in excitement with a squeal garnering the attention of some of their classmates and dropping their sketchbooks on the ground. Alice started shaking Lee back and forth.
"You just gave me soooooooo many ideas." Alice's eyes glazed over and Lee scratched her cheek as she laughed to herself.
Lee detangled herself from Alice's grasp and picked up both their sketch books from the floor. She turned both of theirs to a new page and set Alice's on the table. Lee crossed one leg over the other and sat her book on top of her leg and started to sketch as Alice started to design what she was seeing.
Lee knew she was supposed to draw Alice but she had a thought; the twins from Alice in Wonder flashed across her mind. She drew herself and Alice arms thrown around each other's shoulder smiling. They were wearing horizontal striped tee shirts with school shorts, knee high socks and loafers. They were in the giant mushroom and flower forest. Some of the flowers were alive and had sinister faces with long arms and hands.
Alice made a disgusted face when she saw the picture and said never in a million years to Lee and Lee just chuckled. Lee flipped the page to a blank sheet and started on her last idea. It was Alice wearing a top hat sitting at a table drinking tea. She was wearing a vest and coat with suit pants and shoes to match. There was even a stylized pimp looking cane leaned against her chair. On top of the table was a tea pot, five more cups and a cake sitting in the middle of the table.
Lee was happy with her drawing and looked up and was gonna show Alice it, but she stopped herself before she interrupted Alice. Alice was smiling a serene smile holding one page of her sketchbook up and drawing on another. Lee quickly flipped to a new page and started drawing what she was seeing; Alice in a rare moment of ease.
"Ah, Lee that Is a very great picture you drew of your sister. You have a very good eye for lighting." Lee looked up and smiled to her art teacher Mrs. Nathans.
"Thank you. This wasn't the one I was gonna show you actually. My sister and I agreed on a Alice in Wonderland Motif as a challenge. Here." Lee flipped a page back and showed her teacher the drawing of Alice as the Mad Hatter at the table.
"Nicely, done. You and Alice always turn in some interesting sketches. Keep it up."
Mrs. Nathans continued her walk around the room looking at other students' progress.
Alice spoke up, "What'd you draw Lee?"
Lee showed her the Mad Hatter picture.
"Lee, that's it! We are making these costumes!"
"You just want a reason to have a pimp cane."
"That is besides the point."
"You mean the whole point."
"Potato. Tomato."
"That's not how that is supposed to work."
Lee just laughed as Alice jumped out of her seat when the bell signaled the end of class. Alice showed Mrs. Nathans the picture of Cheshire Lee and then they both went their separate ways to go to their next class. Lee made it too her next class that had letters reading Español on the door. Lee mentally sighed as she took her seat next to Rosalie. Tanya and Kate sat in front of them and they barely looked up at Lee. Lee said hello to them and Rosalie glared at the backs of their head as they said hello not bothering to look back.
Rosalie growled too low for the humans to hear, "I never would have thought millennium old vampires could be so childish."
"Rosalie! Stop. Leave them be." Lee whispered with a hand on Rosalie's arm.
"Like hell I will. You aren't the same. You hardly spend time outside of the garage and the others have been worried too. Jasper knows you've been stopping your emotions from leaking through to him. You may not feel the connection like we do because you aren't a vampire, but obviously their distance isn't doing you any good."
Lee sighs and just drops her head into her arms when Tanya and Kate still don't look back. "Rosalie just drop it, at least all they asked for was time and distance."
Tanya and Kate flinched a little at the sniffle that Lee tried to hide. Rosalie scoffed, but ran her hand up and down Lee's back in a soothing manner.
Lee got up and picked her bag up, "Fuck it, I'm skipping. Feel like skipping with me Rose?"
Tanya growled lowly at that and Kate frowned at Rosalie.
"Hurry and decide before the teacher comes."
Rosalie huffed but got up and flipped her hair over her shoulder picking her bag up. She took Lee's hand in her own and walked out towards the parking lot. They made their way into the forest and kept walking for a few minutes. Lee tugged on Rosalie's hand and pulled her into her arms and held her close.
"You'll be the first person in a long while I've done this with. Hold on tight and please don't scream."
Lee partially shifted and Rosalie watched in amazement as she got to see the smattering of different colored scales push out of Lee's skin. She watched as Lee's pupils turned into slits and a pair of wings unfurl from her back. Rosalie had all of a second to take it all in before she was suddenly airborne. Lee flew through the trees and into the air taking them quite a bit away from the school in just a couple of seconds. Wind whipped past their hair and before long Lee touched ground again in a small clearing with some wild flowers and a large rock.
Lee set Rosalie on her feet and then they walked over to the large rock sitting down on it next to each other.
"Thank you for always comforting me Rosalie and just being there." Lee put her arm around Rosalie's shoulder and just leaned into her.
Rosalie just laid her head on Lee's shoulder and wrapped her arm around Lee's waist.
"I just don't get how they can treat you like this. I'm envious of them. I don't have a mate and here they are keeping you at arms length. Why?"
Lee sighed and debated whether or not to tell Rosalie. Lee closed her eyes and pointed her face up to the sky and contemplated for a bit. She was brought out of her musings when her cell phone had a text that read Tell Her from Alice.
Lee sighed again and then spoke, "The why is because of the conversation that took place that day after school when I went to their house."
"You said the conversations was between mates. Was there something bad or weird they didn't like?" Rosalie asked as she shifted her head a little to look Lee in the eyes.
Lee looked her in the eyes then looked away, "Not bad no. At least I didn't think it was weird, but I don't know. Its probably really weird to other people."
"Just try me." Rosalie said with a smirk.
Lee just snorted, "Typical you answer. Well, okay."
Lee shifted and pulled away from Rosalie so they were sat facing each other.
"Dragons can have multiple mates, this I've already said. What I haven't told anyone besides my mates is that Dragons are very particular creatures and give our mates the choice if they even want to be with us. Dragons identify what is called a potential mate and we go through an emotional change, unwillingly might I add. We can not control this aspect. We become protective of them, feel the need to be closer to them. and generally just want their happiness. We feel emotions very deeply; we love endlessly, but at the same time our rage can also be endless. With this we have to have very fine control over our emotions. Dragons are timeless creatures and some are considered gods due to the amount of power we can accumulate. Due to this there are some benefits that come along with being mated to dragons. The mates of a dragon can develop mate bonds to the other mates if they wish. If they wish to, they could develop the ability to feel each other's emotions, leave emotional imprints, in some cases if the bond is strong enough communicate telepathically. We also gain a trait or ability from one another. I theorized that they may now be fire proof though, I still do not wish to test out that theory."
Rosalie nodded along to all of it, "Okay, I'm hearing a lot of good things. So, it might be a little bit much in the love department, but it doesn't seem that weird. I'm still not seeing why they need their distance though?"
Lee took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She grabbed both of Rosalie's hand in both of hers and looked at their hands with a furrowed brow.
"Right, so, I also told them how Alice and you were potential mates, but that Alice wasn't an option at all because she was with Jasper and Jasper really doesn't seem like the type to share. With you, I've left our relationship as sisters same as Alice, though my mind tends to go straight to the gutter whenever you're around."
Lee chanced a look up at Rosalie's reaction and she had to do a double take at the perfect oh face Rosalie was making.
"Well... Things, certainly make a whole lot more sense now and I am sorry for a lot of my thoughtless actions and words."
Lee waved her off, "Don't be sorry, you didn't know. It's not like you were doing anything intentionally like others."
Rosalie snapped her fingers, "Don't think I didn't catch that by the way. What did you mean by ' at least all they asked for was time and distance?"
Lee sighed and ran a hand through her hair then leaned back on her hands, "I meant it would be really bad since we are mated now, if they all told me to fuck off or all three rejected the mating bond.
Rosalie leaned forward into Lee's space, "How bad are we talking about?"
Lee made a whatever hand gesture, "If all three of them rejected me and I didn't have at least another mate that I've been mated too I'd loose my sanity, go on a rampage, then rot and become an undead dragon. Eventually my soul would be lost to the netherworld over time, and left in the wake would just be a rage filled husk. Then The Dragon Eater will make an appearance to eat the husk. There will be nothing but chaos if this ever happens."
Rosalie didn't know whether or not to take Lee seriously or not especially since she was so flippant with her answer.
"Are you joking?"
"Not in the slightest."
Rosalie really didn't know how to handle that news. She was a potential mate for Lee but did she feel any romantic feelings for Lee? She could honestly say that all she felt for Lee was sisterly love and nothing more despite their fake relationship and all their acting. Lee was very attractive and she wished she could be as open with her mate when she meets them.
Rosalie squeezed Lee's hand, "I'm very flattered Lee. Right, now all I feel for you are platonic feelings."
Lee let out a sigh of discontent, she wasn't expecting her feelings to be way-sided to platonic of all things. Lee knew even as dense as she once was that Rosalie's actions more often than not went past 'sisterly' or even tame pg for fake going out.
"Mhhmmm I see."
They spent the rest of their time talking about some of the cars that they were working on and watching the clouds go by. When It was almost time for lunch Lee flew them close to the school again. They walked back into the school meeting up with the rest of their siblings.
Bella mentally groaned that she agreed to sit with Jessica Stanley at lunch. The girl talked a mile a minute and seemed to gossip about everyone. She was hoping she would run into Lee again and maybe they could sit with each other at lunch. They were making their way to the cafeteria now and Jessica was talking but Bella had tuned her out awhile ago. Once they were in the cafeteria Jessica pointed to a table she was going to sit at and Bella just nodded her head as she got in line to get her lunch. She took a look around the cafeteria to see if she could find Lee, but was slightly disappointed when she didn't see her. Bella made her way over to Jessica's table with her lunch tray.
There was three boys and two other girls sitting there besides Jessica.
The girl with glasses spoke up, "I'm Angela Webber. It's nice to meet you."
Bella took a seat next to her and smiled, "Isabella Swan, but I prefer Bella."
The Asian boy sitting next to Angela reached over with his hand out, "Eric Yorkie, the eyes and ears of this place."
Bella shook his hand and before she even put her hand next to her side again the blonde headed boy spoke up.
"The names Mike, Mike Newton-" "I'm your boy Tyler Crowley." The last boy interjected giving Mike a noogie.
The last girl rolled her eyes, "Look at them fighting over the shiny new toy."
Jessica laughed, took a sip of her water then spoke, "Don't mind her, that's Lauren Mallory."
Bella waved it off, "I'd rather not have the attention."
They made small talk and started asking Bella basic questions like how was she liking forks and why did she move here. She gave them the same answers she gave Jessica.
"Forks is alright. I was studying abroad the last couple of years, so I'm going to miss the sun."
Bella noticed a hush fell over the cafeteria and in walked nine impossibly beautiful people. The first three were blondes; one was tall with straight hair, the second was a little shorter with wavy hair and the third was the same height with curly hair. Next was a really bulky male with brunette hair holding the hand of a shorter leaner bronzed haired male. The next pair was a short black haired pixie of a woman hanging off the arm of a blonde haired male. The last pair was Lee and a blonde Aphrodite of a woman that had Bella's heart beating wildly.
Jessica interrupted Bella's staring, "I see you've noticed the Denali sisters and the Cullens."
Bella listened with half an ear as Jessica started giving her all the details about them. She was focused on the blonde Aphrodite and the way Lee's arm was wrapped around her shoulders. Bella felt a little bit of devastation knowing that the blonde Aphrodite was taken.
"-Sian is Lee and her arm is around the blonde Rosalie."
Bella felt herself whispering Rosalie's name, "Rosalie."
Rosalie's head turned and their eyes met. Bella felt a shock go through her system and immediately a blush caught her cheeks. Rosalie turned her head away and started talking to Lee. Bella looked away as Lee looked over and waved at her.
"Lee totally waved at you!" Jessica practically screamed in her ear.
"Yeah, we sit next to each other in first period English," Bella said.
"You were buddying up pretty good with Lee. She doesn't talk much outside of her family. Don't get me wrong she's usually polite she just doesn't talk much."
Eric said pointing his fork at Bella. Angela pushed his hand down.
"Sorry, the school newspaper wants a feature of you since you are all the rage right now."
Angela held up her camera sheepishly and Bella put her hand up.
"No pictures, you can put in what ever we talked about but no pictures."
"Awesome, thanks Bella."
Bella looked back at the inhumanly beautiful people and brought her hands up to cover her mouth. She started whispering to the others couldn't see her lips move.
"Are you guys the The Cullens and The Denalis, the Vegetarian Vampires, I've heard so much about?"
Bella watched as eight pairs of eyes looked her way. Then they looked away and they all started furiously whispering and gesturing wildly.
'That confirms that theory then.'
Bella got a text message and she looked at her phone. The message was from Lee and it read:
Lee: "Well, you know how to definitely cause an up roar. You mind if I steal you away from your new friends?"
Bella thought about it for a moment. Lee didn't seem like a vampire. However, even though she's heard a lot about the Cullens and the Denali and her curiosity demands she finds out more, she'd rather not bring more attention onto herself.
Bella: "Actually, please don't. I don't need to attract anymore attention. Jessica is practically frothing at the mouth knowing that you and I sit together in English."
Lee: "Stanley is mostly harmless, but I get it. Your sacrifice for the spotlight has been noted and appreciated by the way."
Bella: "Hardy har har. Maybe I should show up in a werewolf costume. It'd surely turn heads then."
Lee: "Lol. You're pretty funny Swan. So, I'm being glared at and my siblings really want to know how you know about vampires. How do you want to do this Swan?"
Bella: "After school, I can follow you guys to your house and we can have a civilized conversation like adults and not throw trees or boulders."
Lee: "Oooh, I'm sensing a story. You just get more and more interesting."
Bella: "Me? I guess. I'm still trying to figure out how you piece into all this. You clearly aren't a vampire but you have golden eyes. Are you wearing contacts to match them by chance?"
Lee: "Ah, no, I'm a bit of a weird one and no it's a bit complicated. I happened to acquire this eye color. I can explain later when you come over to the house."
Bella: "Alright, sounds good."
Bella put her phone away and started eating the rest of her lunch. She tuned back into the conversation around her to hear Mike talk about some video game.
Meanwhile at another lunch table where the Denali and the Cullens sat were heated whispers and hissing.
"The laws are very clear!" Tanya stated heatedly.
Alice argued right back, "No, it will be fine! I can't say anything right now even though my visions are spotty at best, but it wouldn't go the way your thinking if you tell the Volturi."
Irina practically hissed at Alice, "You forget cousin that we have history with the Volturi. We'd rather not have their ire."
Jasper growled at Irina while trying to push out waves of calm to everyone. "We need to calm down."
Emmett asked Edward to get a read on her and the others all waited with baited breath to see what he would say. Lee knew what was gonna happen so schooled her features and didn't let her face twitch when Edward grabbed his hair in frustration.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It's like static where she's at."
This of course started another round of heated arguing.
"Of course my mate would be able to block Eddie's gift." Rosalie had a small smirk on her face and when she noticed Lee saw it she immediately scowled.
"Rosalie don't be like that."
Rosalie just crossed her arms across her chest and shrugged Lee's arm off her shoulders.
Kate spoke up, "Oooh trouble in paradise."
Lee couldn't help the intense amount of pain she felt from Kate's one jab and Jasper gasped and grabbed his heart venom tears welling up in his eyes.
Quick as a flash Lee's hand covered the one that was over his heart and a sigil appeared for a brief second and then it was gone.
Jasper didn't feel the immense amount of pain anymore. He looked at Lee worriedly and Lee gave him a smile and shook her head. No one else noticed their exchange as they were wrapped up in arguing or talking about Bella.
Lee sighed and excused herself from the table she really wasn't feeling good anymore. Kate's comment started to make her feel really ill. Rosalie was her one real rock when it came to emotions and now Rosalie was upset with her. Not only that but Kate's jab had a little bit of bite to it and it had her worried that maybe it was the start of the reject, but she shook her head. Lee had faith that things would be okay between her and her mates. They just needed their space, right?
Lee decided to head to biology I I early.
Bella threw her trash away and made her way to her next class when the bell signaled the end of lunch. She shared this next class with Angela and Mike so they kept up light conversation as they went.
Bella thought Angela was a sweet girl with a bit of a sassy streak when it came down to it. Mike however, had a puppy love look in his eyes that needed to be nipped in the bud because she did not like him like that. Nor did she want to get in the way of Jessica's not so very subtle aggressive claims.
They made it to biology and Angela and Mike took their seats as Bella talked to the teacher and got them to sign the slip. The teacher told her there was only one chair available and that would be in the back next to the Cullen siblings.
Bella took a glance over and It was Lee talking to the bronze haired male, Edward, she believes. Bella started to make her way over and the fan slightly turned into her making her hair cross her vision.
Edward's eyes had gone completely dark and venom flooded his mouth in an instance. Lee looked on worriedly as his entire body went rigid. She felt her pocket vibrate and she pulled out her phone.
It simply read. Stop Him!
Lee's eyes widen as her hand snapped out and grasped Edward's shoulder. He was coiled and ready to leap up when her strength sat him back in the chair. The humans around couldn't see it but there was a sigil on her palm.
Lee mentally screamed at Edward to stop. Edward's body tensed even more and he hissed but it had the desired effect of getting him to stop.
'Edward, come back to your senses! You are in a room full of humans at school. Don't let the beast win. Fight it! I know it's hard but you can't lose control. You wouldn't forgive yourself afterwards.'
Edward struggled to fight his instincts to kill the new girl. He closed his eyes and clenched his fists, gritting his teeth.
Bella got her hair out of her face and continued on her way to the empty seat. She noticed Edward was tense and raised an eye brow at Lee.
"I'll explain later," was all Lee said giving her a shrug and smile.
Edward had stopped breathing as soon as Bella had gotten closer.
'You need to breathe brother and get acclimated to her scent. I'll be here to stop you if anything happens. Trust in me. Open your eyes but focus your mind on my mind.'
Edward was scared he was going to lose control but he trusted Lee. He opened his eyes and glared ahead. He slowly started to breathe again and he had to swallow the mouthful of venom that welled. He focused his mind on Lee's whose barriers were surprising completely down for once. She was focusing on a happy memory.
Edward mentally heard the sound of stringed instruments playing a song he was unfamiliar with but it was merry in nature. All around there was people of different species in armors, leathers, robes, and tunics, in a large hall eating and drinking. He was seeing through Lee's eyes as she was dragged to a particular table and sat down to drink with a dwarf and they chugged down seven pints of the strongest dwarves brew. Lee was definitely tipsy an swayed in her memory and Edward was fascinated that he was able to experience this.
Lee was dragged to dance to many different songs by different people and he could feel the impression of Lee's happiness agains his own mind. He was becoming drunk and happy on her memory and he could feel his body relaxing minutely.
Lee was laughing freely and eventually sat down at a small side table by herself.
'A break from dancing with all the merry goers?'
Lee barked a laugh and turned her head to see a rather tall striking woman with really long black hair and bright yellow eyes that Edward recognized from Lee's previous memories as her mentor Eranelle.
'Yes, any more dancing and I won't have feet to speak of.'
'I'm glad all those dance lessons stuck. I' don't think I've seen you this free in awhile liten drage.'
Edward could feel Lee's smile and then he could feel Lee's mental blocks coming back up.
He didn't realize it but class had ended and the other students were already filing out of the room.
Now that he wasn't focusing on Lee's memory the full scent of Isabella washed over him and he rushed to get away before he did something he would regret.
Lee rubbed her temples and got up looking over at Bella.
"Excuse my brother, he isn't feeling well."
Bella just put her hands up and got the message.
"I'm just glad he wasn't glaring at me like the back of that kid's head."
Lee clapped her shoulder and laughed, "Where are you headed to next?"
Bella smiled, "I have gym next. Oh the poor souls. They don't know what tragedy is about to walk through those doors."
Lee hummed, "It can't be that bad. Well, come on then. Let's head to gym."
They made their way to the gym and Bella went to go talk to coach Clapp as Lee went to go get changed.
Bella noticed she had Rosalie, Tanya, Irina and Kate in this class too. The coach gave her a change of clothes and Bella headed to the changing rooms to change.
Lee walked out and said she'd wait up for her by her sister and cousins. Bella nodded her head and went inside the changing rooms and started to get changed.
When Lee got to the four blondes she was immediately set upon.
"What are you thinking getting so friendly with the human?" Were Tanya's words.
Lee held her hands up and furrowed her brow, "Relax, Tanya. She's pretty chill."
"Relax? Relax? How can you be so foolish?! A human knowing about vampires doesn't generally end well. It ends in either death or a turning. We can't just very well turn her we have a treaty with the La Push pack. That's not even to mention she's already been seen by all these humans. So we can't just make her 'disappear'. "
Tanya was in Lee's personal space now growling so they wouldn't be heard by the humans.
Lee squared her shoulders, "You forget who and what I am Tatyana Denali. I am Lee first and foremost of the Hunters before all else. I keep the peace and balance between the natural and supernatural order. Things may be a bit different here and the supernatural may have to hide but I will make sure that there will not be an exposure. I will not let anyone harm this girl either. This I swear on my sword and shield."
Lee looked back at Tanya with fire in her eyes and Tanya just made a noise and stepped back.
Kate spoke up grabbing Lee's arm, "Do you know what you are swearing?"
Lee ripped her arm out of Kate's grasp and glared at her, "I know exactly what I am doing though you may believe me foolish. The question is do you all know what you are doing?"
Kate looked down at the floor and stepped back to stand next to Tanya's side. Irina reached out to Lee cupping her face in her hand.
"Lee, we just can't fathom having more mates. Our beasts don't like the idea of you being sexual with strangers. We are your mates, we should be enough."
Lee gave her a soft smile, "I love you three so much, but you still do not understand what I am trying to convey. I've told Rosalie my feelings, and about her being a potential mate. Seems for now I am rejected and it may stay that way since Rosalie has found her mate in Isabella."
What Lee didn't tell anyone was that Bella was also a potential mate. That one took her by surprise too.
"I have a lot of explaining to do at the meeting."
Lee pulled back from Irina's touch at the sound of Bella's foot steps approaching.
"Hey, Swan, let me introduce you. These three are our cousins and my mates Irina, that there is Kate, and she is Tanya."
They all gave polite smiles, waved and said hello. Lee raised her other hand and pointed to Rosalie, "This one here is Rosalie and despite what all the rumors say or seem like we really aren't dating. I'm just being a really good sister and keeping all the heathens away."
Bella blushed at that because it was like Lee read the question on her face. Bella smooth as fuck though she felt entirely like a dork held out her hand and dipped her head a little bending at the waist.
Rosalie raised an eye brow looking at Lee and placed her hand in Bella's. Bella placed a feather light kiss to Rosalie's knuckles and let her hand go standing back up with her face cherry red.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Aphro- I mean Rosalie." Bella face got impossibly redder.
Lee threw an arm around Bella and shook her, "I approve! It's cute, you've got game. Now, let's go run some laps before you combust."
Rosalie just chuckled then scowled as the Denali cooed at her. She flipped them off and the coach yelled at them to go run laps too.

I decided to call it there before I ended up making this chapter super long. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention at the beginning Bella was gonna be kinda AU but oh well, you know now. Next chapter Bella is gonna official meet the Cullens and the rest of the Denali.
