The Scythe was deftly turned. The weapon of the God of Death emitted a downright terrifying black miasma.
And looking at his wounds, the Sky God realized they were also covered in this same miasma.
"This Authority of mine came from a Death God, a God related to the Underworld." Rael spoke calmly.
"I see... how terrifying." Horus muttered, understanding the power of this weapon, "An Authority capable of imposing the concept of Death on everything it cuts."
No matter how strong a God was, this Scythe had the power to take all lives. It forced the concept of Death on everything it cut.
A mortal would be killed with a mere scratch, and even a God as powerful as Horus had been left in such a state with only a few strikes.
There was no right way to defend against this weapon. The best option was logically not to let it hit.
"Then how will you handle it!"
With God's declaration, he disappeared!
Rael's eyes widened when he saw Horus disappear, but his instincts alerted him, and he quickly spun his Scythe up just in time to fend off a blow from the Sky God.
Still, the Campione was sent flying away through the temple walls.
As he rose from the crater in the wall, he looked up into the sky seeing Horus floating by.
"A Divine Speed Authority, eh?" The Fifth King muttered.
It was an ability belonging to certain gods and variable among them.
It manifests in two ways. In one form, the user accelerates slowly or gathers power before moving, thus being able to enter a type of dimension parallel to the real world. In this space, the user can ignore friction and gravity and accelerate to the point where his speed is comparable to light. Everything around him slows down to the point where ordinary people stand almost entirely still, and beings with speed above lightning move in slow motion.
The other form is one in which the user can reach maximum speed instantly at the price of great pain if overused.
This ability can even be considered a Temporal Manipulation since it slows down or speeds up time as the user wishes.
"You managed to dodge it, an excellent achievement Son of Fool. Let's see how you continue."
Horus proclaimed as he again disappeared in a flash of light.
Rael jumped as he dodged a blow that hit the ground. He only managed to react to the Sky God thanks to his bestial instincts.
Among all the Campiones, Rael possessed the sharpest instincts, superior even to the "Predator Wolf" Vauban.
So even though his opponent was moving at an unbelievable speed, he could react.
Seeing an opportunity, Rael quickly raised his Scythe as the black aura enveloped it.
And in one motion, he lowered it toward Horus.
What shot from the Scythe was an overwhelming wave of Death that cut through everything in its path.
Horus was quickly transformed into a beam of light and avoided the blow. Still, the blow continued forward, cutting the ancient temple in two.
Seeing the power of Rael's blow, the God of Heaven proclaimed.
"A troublesome weapon you wield. Therefore I will take it from your domain!"
"And how do you plan to do that?" Rael asked with a sarcastic smile.
In response, the Sky God raised his hand to the sky.
A gigantic glow on the King of Gods' right hand blinded Rael slightly.
"You have taken the power of a God of the Earth by usurpation, the power of a God of the Underworld, of a God of Death."
Hearing the words of the Sky God, Rael's eyes widened.
"He possessed a great connection with Anubis, just as Anubis served the great Osiris. He was also a God of Death who served a God of the Underworld!"
As Horus' words were spoken, the light increased its intensity, taking the form of a great light sword.
Rael's eyes were wide open. That power could be...
"He was the son of night and Darkness the elder brother of the Personification of Sleep, for what he represented was seen as a sleep from which mortals never awoke"
Rael held his Scythe even more tightly as a black miasma surrounded his body.
"That's... Words of Power that can sever the divinity of a God?" Rael wondered aloud.
In Campione's Cannon, the God killed by the protagonist was Verethragna, the Persian God of Victory who possessed Ten Incarnations.
Among them was the [Warrior] who summoned a golden sword made of wisdom that could cut the divinity of a God.
Rael never expected Horus would possess a power similar to the [Golden Sword].
But at the same time, Horus was a God of War, represented as always being supported by Maat, the Goddess of Justice.
His right eye representing the Sun, power, and essence, Horus was seen as the personification of "victorious power" and "good overcoming evil."
"So you recognize my power, all right, try it with your own body Son of Fool!"
The sword of light that shone like the Sun illuminated everything.
"The God you killed was Thanatos, the Greek Personification of Death!"
With the sword energy reaching its peak, the Sky God shot at a divine speed at Rael, who skillfully spun his Scythe against him.
The collision created an overwhelming flash of light that illuminated the entire region.
When the light finally faded, Horus was revealed floating while he had a gash on his chest, but the black miasma surrounding him was gone.
And the Fifth Campione is kneeling on the ground with a suffering expression while having his right hand over his heart.
"So, that's what it feels like to have your power cut off." Rael muttered with narrowed eyes.
He no longer had his Scythe in hand, and despite feeling Thanatos' Authorities, he could not activate either.
Horus had sealed off the power of the Greek God of Death.
Rael took a deep breath as he tried to calm himself. He had been lost in the desire for battle at the sight of Horus and even now felt an urge to challenge the Sky God desperately.
He didn't like the bestial fighting style of a Campione when facing a Heretic God.
Rael believed in knowledge and wisdom.
In ancient times humans drank blood and ate raw meat to survive.
However, people used their wisdom to evolve their way of survival gradually. At first prehistoric humans were afraid of fire, but then they discovered the advantages brought by fire.
Humans began to use fire to cook meat, provide warmth in the cold, and light in the dark.
Humans made weapons to make hunting easier. Humans made shelters, as this protected them from the forces of nature.
Humans tamed animals to protect their homes and help with farming and transportation.
Humans have constantly evolved - Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Middle Age, and Modern Age.
Humans are not the strongest or most biologically adaptable species on Earth.
However, this species with no unique physical qualities survived in an environment like hell and became the winners of evolution.
What helped them in their progression was not robust scales or sharp claws and teeth. What helped them was wisdom and the desire for progression.
It was wisdom that helped humans become the supreme masters of the Earth.
Campione and Heretic Gods have instinctive bloodlust for each other. They clash to their hearts' content.
Rael did not want to engage in some kind of street fight. On the contrary, he tried to make the 'beast' inside him surrender to his will.
While controlling his instincts, Rael stood up.
"Looks like your will hasn't died yet, Son of a Fool."
The God of Heaven proclaimed as he looked at Rael.
In response, the Fifth Campione raised his right hand towards the sky.
"Of course not. After all, I still have power at my disposal."
